Mika didn't even announce that Joe was off today (unless I missed it), but then, Joe also didn't say Mika was off except for yesterday when he said she would be back today. Is it too much to ask that both of these people actually show up for work especially during the DNC/RNC conventions? This is their job! I also have noticed that many times Joe will start at 6:00am and launch into a rant or whatever for a good 15 minutes or more and only afterwards announce who's on the show that morning. I'm sure the guests are thrilled having to sit there waiting for him to end his speech. Most of the time I find myself wondering, "Did he say who was going to be on this morning because I don't seem to recall." It turns out he didn't.

Speaking of people who will be convention speakers next week for the GOP, I read that Patricia & Mark McCloskey, the couple who wielded guns at Black Lives Matter protesters in St. Louis, will have convention speaking roles. In June, video was captured of the couple pointing guns at peaceful protesters walking past their home to get to the St. Louis mayor's residence. What a lineup compared to the Democrats this week. It'll be interesting to hear what Joe & Mika have to say about this group.

Over the last 2 nights I've been watching MSNBC's coverage of the Democratic National Convention. Starting off each night with a trio of women - Joy Reid, Rachel Maddow and Nicole Wallace as moderators is a pleasant surprise. I can't help but think that it must be galling for Mika that she wasn't asked to moderate (not that she deserves it). Can you image her shrieking & becoming unhinged like she does on MJ over Covid 19 and the death rate and everything else for that matter.

The first thing that went through my mind when Tiffany Cross spoke out about both former Bush presidents this morning and Joe felt the need to disagree with her and make an issue out of it was, "I bet she never appears on the show again." Joe has a tendency not to like people or have them on the show again if they don't agree with him. I always feel that that's why so many of them are always saying, "You're so right, Joe" or "I totally agree with you, Joe."

As an avid gardener, I am so jealous of all the space she has for produce and flower gardens. I would kill for that space! I could plant everything.

I have to agree about Mika telling Joe,"Great job, Sweetie" after his 12-minute rant that started the show this morning. If she ever had any credibility (which she didn't), she lost it making that comment. Totally unprofessional. I though I had accidentally wondered into a SNL sketch on MJ that they occasionally do. What serious newswoman makes a comment like that? I don't care if your husband is sitting next to you. It's wrong. She also looked ridiculous holding her head in her hands and making weird facial expressions during Joe's rant.

While I don't begrudge anyone taking time off during the summer, these two have already taken an enormous amount of time off both individually and together since summer began. (I've been tracking them and Joe has taken 20 days off and Mika 16). Under normal circumstances, I could rationalize that it being summer, they want to go on vacation. But the bottom line is, they can't. They live in Florida! It's a nightmare down there and they should be stuck in their house. What are they taking the time off for? Is Joe writing his book or another column for the Washington Post? Is Mika doing KYV stuff? Fine, but do that on your OWN time and not have it interfere with doing your actual job on Morning Joe. If anyone else did this as blatantly often as these two did, they'd be fired. If I told my boss, I'm taking time off to write newspaper articles or my book and plus KYV instead of being at my job, I'd be fired. And if by any chance, they are traveling out of state, shouldn't they be quarantined? How do they get away with this crap? Also, Joe didn't even bother to mention on Monday & Tuesday that Mika had the day off. It immediately makes me question what's going on with those two.

Wow! Mika couldn't even be bothered to pretend to not be annoyed when Joe & Willie spent a few minutes discussing baseball. She cut in and said that she was done re-organizing her wallet and cleaning Bruce (her pig?). She was shaking her head with a look of disgust on her face and then went to a commercial. Joe also spent the first 25 minutes of the show ranting about Louis Gomert and his refusal to wear a mask. I guess he had to make up for not being there yesterday. He went on talking for so long, I was beginning to think they didn't have any guests to discuss the subject with. And again, Mika wears what looks like a pajama top under her black sweater.

Why is Stephen Colbert off next week? All the shows are repeats. He just came back from a 2 week vacation 2 weeks ago and he's off again? This doesn't make sense. I expected him to take off some time around Labor Day, but this is crazy!

All I kept thinking this morning when Mika was reading Joe's Washington Post op-ed was, "If he's got the time to write editorials and work for The Washington Post, why isn't he doing his main job as host of Morning Joe? You know, the show that's named after him." I've always wondered why NBC allows the reading of his editorials every week from another news source when he's got a job already at MSNBC. I can see reading other people's editorials or Twitter feeds, but shouldn't this be considered a conflict of interest? I'm assuming NBC doesn't own the Washington Post. Just tell the audience that he has an editorial and let them read it themselves. Is it really necessary for Mika to read the entire thing on air all the time?

Just wondering. has any on-air personality ever taken more than a week off at a time (assuming there's no family emergency and it's just vacation). Joe's been gone a week and a half now. You usually don't see that in their profession. Even Rachel Maddow usually only takes a week off at a time for vacation.

My first thought this morning was that Mika has turned into Joe with all the screeching, yelling and interrupting people. She was positively unhinged. I thought I read that if you come back to Florida from another state that you had to self-quarantine for 2 weeks. Is that still in effect? Honestly, if those two were in Maine or Nantucket this past week, would you really want any Floridians anywhere near you given what's happening in Florida right now. And not to wear a mask? For shame!

We all know they do the show from the basement. It's a shame that they don't get rid of the phony DC backdrops and actually show their house/room, like all the other contributors to the show are doing. If anything, I'm sure it would provide endless sniping from viewers over their decor as well as comments from Room Rater. I remember a few weeks ago when Donnie Deutsch was on and Joe went on and on making snide comments about the room he was broadcasting from. It was all white and the consensus was it looked like a dentist's office. While I don't like Donnie Deutusch and I didn't care for his all-white decor, all I could think of was, "Let's see your rooms, Joe. Since when did you become a decorator?" Also, I noticed that most mornings this week, Willie didn't even bother to say that Joe & Mika were off. It's as if they never existed or were part of the show.

Did I miss something this morning? I honestly don't recall Willie even mentioning that Joe & Mika were off (doing God knows what). It's not like they can go anywhere. They're prisoners in their own home since they live in Florida. Is it too much to ask that they show up for work and do their jobs?

I really hope that now that Andy Lack is no longer in charge, that the new head of NBC News has a talk with Joe and Mika and tells them to get their asses out of the bunker and back to NY. Also, to start interviewing people relevant to the stories they cover. No having Joe disappear for large periods of the show and no more of Mika's Know Your Value. I can dream, can't I?
