Hee, it's like his Tiger Beat-esque Capital Building poster sliipped on his bedroom wall.  Time to tell mom you need a new set of 3M strips.

Why do they continue this idiotic charade? We know they're together. Just sit together in front of the one backdrop.

The whole thing is just too stupid.

Joe loves to go through the whole trump never wanted to be president and never expected to win thing again this morning.

I'm not buying it. No one tries so hard to discredit their challengers, pays out hush money and works with a foreign government to help their campaign ( and so far that's all we know right now) if it's all just a stunt.

I can't overstate enough how much I loathe those two in their bunkers.   Can you think of any other news show on any other network where the hosts are never ever in the studio?  It's pointless, distracting, disrupts the flow of conversation with guests, and I find it downright pompous that they have so little respect for the high-paying jobs they have that they can't even bother to show up to work like everybody else.

I also think it's disrespectful to the guest that do show up to the studio. They need them there because Willie sitting alone at the table would look stupid, yet, as you noted, Joe and Mika don't bother to even though it is their damn job.

It's lazy.

I've been wondering this too. One thought I had is that they probably have limited camera capabilities wherever they are, and by having a camera fixed on each of them sepately, it gives the producers/directors more control over who to show at a given time. For example, if they were sitting together with a single camera, they would both have to be on camera at the same time. With the setup they have, they can put both of them up together, or individually.

Of course, this could be avoided if they did the show from an actual studio rather than their basement/garage. I am sure that there is an NBC studio somewhere in the south Florida area that they could use.

The whole setup is just so stupid.  At least Wayne and Garth copped to broadcasting from the basement.  Hell, they were proud of it.   But Joe and Meeks try to be so secretive and important, with backdrops of DC and separate locations, when they're probably sitting two feet apart, playing footsie under the table.

Right. That's another thing that bugs me. They don't even say where they are. I think we found out they had moved to Florida when Meacham mentioned it at one of their events, but the average MJ viewer probably has no idea where they are (other than they are not in the studio).

I just tweeted at her that if they can't show the 10-12 people still watching this clusterfuck, as well as the rest of the MSNBC employees,  the common courtesy to show up at the studio, instead of this lame Wayne's World set up, how about do everyone a favor and quit.

Feels good to get that off my chest.

God they are so bad at this.  This is going to be another big news day and yet they start off reminding everyone that THEY told you this and THEY told you that.  And then take up time to promote a Christmas single Joe has on Filtr.  Shameless.  Rest of my post is in KYV portion of the MJ Forum.

And Elise looks very nice in that shade of blue.

They found someone more reactionary, more apologetic to nationalism, and more slimy than Rothman.  Hugo Gurdon.  What a vile lump of trash dressed up with an English accent.  "There's nothing immoral about wanting to build a wall."
Joe:  "Maybe not immoral.  But it's stupid."

Well, that interview with the Enquirer guy was awkward.   Either he has no ability to form thoughts into coherent sentences or he was pulling 'info' out of his ass.  Between all the ums, ahs, uhs, etc., etc., he managed to not quite answer hardly any question that was put to him.   I was hoping for some juicy info but all I heard was word salad.   Even Meek-a looked exasperated with him.

But didn't you all love the little comedy skit they did at the top of the show?

Mika: "The Russians used every social media platform to suppress the vote, give wrong information to black voters, etc"

Joe: "But now the election of 2016 is over so they stopped right, Mika? They stopped why would they keep doing it, they stopped right? Didn't they stop?"

Mika (shaking her head as she realizes she married this clown):  No Joe. They did not.

Viewers:  Didn't you two also spread disinformation by allowing Donald Trump to come on your program every day and spout lies? And your push back was virtually zero. Instead of telling him you wouldn't have him back on the show if he didn't stop lying, you meekly said "but Putin kills journalists. (And can you call in tomorrow?")

Ah phooey, I missed most of the segment.  Darn it.  I'm surprised he was tongue tied as he was quite chatty when I saw him on air yesterday afternoon.  Maybe the Scarboroughs paid some guy to aim a gun at his nuts so he didn't spill any unnecessary beans during the segment.  And too bad they don't take calls from viewers as I would still like to know why Rand Paul's neighbor tried to decapitate him.

And while these two were playing summer stock theatre, other shows were showing actual stories/screensheets of the crap the Russians are/have been spreading around which I found you know helpful and interesting.

It wasn't so much that he wasn't "chatty", if you could call it that.  It's that all of the chatter was filler.  Ahhhhh.....um.....ah ah ah.....hmmmm.....y'know.....uh........  I was screaming at the television.  "Get to the f*cking point already!!!!"    Then he tried to side-step so many questions about subjects that he himself had brought up.   It was sooooo frustrating.

💖 this.  Even after two + years, I'm sick about all the free publicity they gave him nearly every day.   Their denial and un-self-awareness of the part they played is stunningly superficial.

Watched because two of my favorite legal analysts were on - Chuck Rosenberg and Joyce Vance.  No bunkers today!  Energy is better when everyone is on set. Mika should really just sit in Joe’s lap already though. She’s becoming the  Kate McKinnon parody of her - she completely turns her body toward Joe, staring at him and moving her whole body in agreement with his drivel.  I wonder if that happens in their bunker?

I missed my beloved Chuck Rosenberg?  GAH!  He was on with Maddow last night, so good.

I am watching the show in reverse today as I came in at the top of the second hour.  I woke up to Meeks reading Flynn's testimony/the judge's remarks like she was telling a ghost story around the old campfire and then ACK they are actually in NYC?  I'm too old for that kind of jolt first thing in the morning.  Anywho, can someone help me here in terms of Meeks' bangs as right now she doesn't have any (this is now the replay of the first hour) but she did have them at the top of the second hour (ok I admit it even I'm lost at this point).

Oh there's Joyce Vance, I love her too.  Guess I'll stick around to see Chuck.

Yesterday, Joe once again commented that before he was a Republican, Trump was a Democrat.  It seems he is trying to imply that Trump is a Democrat at heart. So, what is the point?  The Democrats didn't put Trump in power.  Trump is now the head of the REPUBLICAN party!

It was annoying when they spoke over the reporter trying to give an update on Trump's foundation.  It went on far too long. Joe finally brought them back to the reporter.  I had been wanting more details on the alleged misdeeds.  We heard that Trump has to sell two pictures of himself and a football helmet he bought with charity money.  Apparently he thought it was acceptable since he bought these items from another charity.

James Langford seemed to imply that speaker-to-be Pelosi won't negotiate over the wall because she doesn't take office until 2019 as if she was in the wrong.  At least that is how I perceived his comments.  Did anyone else catch this?

YES.  Yes I did and I didn't like it.  Especially since F&F appears to be dunking on the president for letting Speaker-Elect Pelosi get the drop on him again.

He forgets that "speaker to be Pelosi" pointed out to Trump that he didn't have the votes in the House last week, (before she takes over) to get the wall funding.

I turned it on for a sec and it looked like Mika was going to fall out of her chair she was leaning so far to the left toward Joe.

I don't know what's going on under that sweater but those things need to be brought under control before she falls over.

The show is so much better when they're all in the same room.
But, Mika's reading of the Penny Marshall segment, and the interview from 7 years ago was just terrible.  Terrible.  Mika didn't know that Penny Marshall had died until she read it on the teleprompter.  She got nearly every word wrong and the energy totally wrong.  She called Penny Marshall "a brilliant actress."

Didn't see it but I knew she'd screw it up. I'm surprised they didn't let Willie handle it. At least he would have known who Penny was.

Compare that to Brian Williams' tribute to her last night, going back to her first role on The Odd Couple, had me in tears.

Joe, stop saying he's not getting the wall.

His supporters have a GoFundMe and have asked everyone that voted for him to give $80 to pay for the wall.  They've raised over a million dollars so far.

Update. Over 5 million as of this afternoon from about 84,000 donors. Oy

How often has Mika’s brother Ian been on the show?  I’ve never seen him, but I only get to see part of the show.  I remember when she featured her other brother getting an award from Sweden for his service as Ambassador, a few years ago .

Meek-a has the mothering instincts of a brick wall.   Yasmin brings the baby in, says that he just spit up on her, Mika grabs the kid and proceeds to bounce him up and down-up and down-up and down.  First Willy, then Joe (of all people) tell her to STOP IT before she gets thrown up on too.   Jeebus, why wouldn't she have thought of that herself?!?   It doesn't take an Einstein to connect those dots.   No wonder she fell down a flight of stairs while carrying her own baby and broke the kid's leg.  She has no earthly clue how to deal with children.   I fear for the pig.

Oh I'm sorry I missed that. I'd love to see Yasmin's baby.   Sorry he had to be tortured by Big Boobs Brzezinski.  Don't they tell you not to bounce infants up and down no matter what?  Gentle swaying can get them to sleep but bouncing a little baby is not good.   Unless you like wearing formula.

Yasmin and her husband brought in their two children - toddler son and baby boy.  Both too cute for words.  And Ahmin (no idea how to spell his name, sorry) Moheldin brought his wife and toddler on set also.   It was fun to see the families and their adorable children, however it was more than awkward, as all the attention was on Yasmin's baby, not on her other child or any attention paid at all to Ehmin and his family, even when he started talking about bringing Christmas cheer to the set.  I felt awful for them.  Meek-a acted like she assumes people are supposed to act with babies; nothing natural about her interaction at all.  I wouldn't let her hold my cats --- and they can defend themselves.

Maybe you can find the segment on YouTube.  It's worth it.

Penny Marshall was entertaining, and a director to boot, but I don't think anyone considers her acting to be brilliant!

What are the odds that it was a party that got them to travel to New York and not their actual job.

Based on the festive tie Matthews had on, I agree.  They must have had their holiday party this week.  I guess they'll physically show up for work when they can eat and drink for free becasue as they constantly remind us they don't go out much so that must have been quite the treat.

Bill Kristol really did not like being called unemployed by Joe in his introduction.  Even Mika picked up on that, and when Joe tried to finish the introduction with “life of leisure,” Mika said “not really.”

What is so distracting about their separate screens is that everyone is looking straight ahead like hostages instead of having a human conversation that involves interaction.

Of course not, that would require having a soul.  I thought that shot he took at Kristol about having to look for a job was particularly tasteless in view of the fact that the entire Weekly Standard staff got wiped out right before Christmas and their severance packages threatened if they said anything bad about the owner.  I can only hope that one day they know that particular pain too.
