I think we need to have a Continental Breakfast tomorrow morning to celebrate the convening of the new Congress/The Shit Hitting the Fan.  It will be interesting to hear the Pundits discuss....

I think part of the reason for all the salivating and fawning over Romney is that Joe, Ignatius, et al are desperate--DESPERATE--to affirm their two-year-long mantra that the "institutions will hold" and that there are people with integrity in the government who are going to save us. Time and again, I've see them pin their hopes on the Flakes, the Corkers, the Collinses, the Kellys, the Mattises, the McMasters...

Why was there a Trump Game of Thrones poster on Trump's desk?

The "Sanctions Are Coming" poster was made some weeks ago.  I recall reading about it then.

What I find surprising is that if he's going to have a Game of Thrones poster (and I wish he hadn't, because Game of Thrones was just about the only thing left in the world untainted by him), why he didn't make it about the Wall that keeps out the Wildlings and Whitewalkers (some of whom, I assume, are good people).

Of course, the poster on the table is not the first Trump/Game of Thrones mash-up.   Simply google "Trump Joffrey."

What is it with these people not knowing how to care for pets? Mika and her pig torturing, adopting animals she can't care for then dumping them when Daddy decides to run for office in FL.

People are pissed the Trumps don't have a dog. I don't want them within 100 feet of a dog.  And it sounds like the Romneys shouldn't own one either.

Meeks is pretty feisty with her Mom bob. At least she doesn't look like a Bond villainess anymore.  I only had it on for a minute this morning, I assume Joe joined the Romney FanBoy Club?

It seems strange to have TV/Movie posters at Cabinet meetings.

Just an observance (or "hope")...I will bet that if Joe returns to his former on-air views (since now he is emboldened by The Romney)...and the Bill Crystals/David Frums/Charlie Sykes/Jennifer Rubins go back to their old selves (before Trump) ...the ratings for MJ will drop significantly.  Maybe that will finally spell the end of the this show.  Today's show was terrible.   Predictable, boring and depressing; what I saw of it, anyway.  Mr. Kemper made it most of the way through.

At one point I looked up and there seemed to be dozens of Brady Bunch boxes.  And they all sounded like they always sound.

Do you really think we'll ever be rid of Trump?   That he won't be inspiring and influencing the pundits long after he's gone from office?   He'll have his own TV show or website or Twitter will splinter off a whole new service devoted just to him.   He'll be lobbing rotten tomatoes from the sidelines every single day.   And just as dogs return to their own vomit, the news media will lap it up.  Scarborough especially.   He's owned, whether he admits it or not.   They'll worry over his exploits and ponder how it affects his ever-loyal base and what impact it has on the politicians of the day.   We may never be free of him again in our lifetimes.

If they don't want to be there, why should they bore the hell out of us every day?

Joe & Mika see Romney as their new chance to be communications consultants for a Presidential campaign, since their attempt to do it for Trump crashed and burned.

Well I'll bring the champagne but I am not sure where to deliver it as I am sure they will still be slobbering over their new savior Mitt Romney tomorrow.  There seems to be a united attack from the Never Trumper right to trumpet Romeny's op ed.  This is Lucy and Charlie Brown with the football all over again.  I'll go get that champagne now . . .

He'll go back to being the joke he was in NYC before Mark Burnett turned him into a tv star, and conned millions of uninformed viewers that he was a genius businessman and real estate developer.  I guess if lying to investors, using banks that launder money for criminals, and going bankrupt continually make you a genius.

Joe and Mika were just another in a long line of chumps who fell for his "charm" and con.

Did Miss Know Your Value even mention that Nancy Pelosi is going to be Speaker of the House again?  Isn't that part of her whole deal? Promoting women who have strived to make a difference.

No but that would be difficult for her to recognize a true female leader, champion and class act.

Friday Mini recap. Mika & Joe are in separate bunkers. Mika is holding a Starbucks cup & wearing a black top. Mika is happy that Nancy is the speaker. A tanned Donny Deutsh was on & said being on the show help him get dates. Donny said Trump wants to keep America White Again. Joe is rambling on about Trump. Noah Rothman was on the show a well with a another lady in the Library. Joe said Trump is doomed fighting against Pelosi.

Joe said he was a fiscal conservative. Joe is against the wall. Joe said the Democrats will benefit from keeping the government shut down

They are playing clips of Trump asking for a shutdown.

7:21 AM:  Mika goes into an interesting, albeit very long diatribe about the strong presence of women in Congress and the strength of Nancy Pelosi. It was about 5 minutes long.  I'm laying in the bathtub waiting, waiting for the words we love to hear-- Know Your Value--but they never come!  She doesn't say it.  Good on ya', Mika

What was up Mika's butt that she was attacking Donnie first thing? "WHY IS DONNIE HERE?"

Because your staff can't get anyone else to appear on your cluster fuck of a show.

Sadly, the show does not work with two hosts broadcasting from Florida while the guests are usually in Washington or New York. Mika tends to talk when she is off screen. It's distracting.

This morning when they showed Trump and the Border Patrol guys against the images of Nancy & the kids at the dais in the House Chamber, Joe kept interrupting her.  Are they not sitting in the same room? Just in front of different back drops?

FFS Joe, let her finish.  There is no other show with multiple hosts who haven't figured out how to not talk over each other.   You're not arguing points of fact, she's just introducing the clip.

If they're both in Florida and they're in the same bunker, why the hell can't they sit together?   Why pretend that they're each in a separate top-secret location?  This isn't isn't an episode of Get Smart or Spy vs. Spy.   I expect Joe to take off his shoe and start talking into it any minute now.  What a joke this show has become.   Why the hell doesn't MSNBC just build a goddam set down there and fly guests in so we can have a real face to face discussion instead of this stupid Hollywood Squares montage.   I half expect to see Paul Lynde pop up.   And I think he's dead.

It's really a wierd vibe when like this morning Mika and Joe are somewhere in TV land and their guests are left on their own in a studio at network headquarters.

It's like Mika got this it's ok to insult Donnie attitude because I'm not sitting in the studio with him.

Mika was very excited about Pelosi taking over as Speaker. Mika threw shade at AOC for being too hip & had not earned her stripes as Pelosi did. Later on, Mika was happy that AOC was in Congress & being tough on the GOP.  Joe was mad at the new Congresswoman who was swearing about impeaching Trump. Joe admitted that he was happy that there were no camera phones when he was in Congress. Joe must be furious that people use the internet to look up his track record as a Congressman.

Confessore & Heilaman are on today's show. The theme is that Trump is lying about illegal immigration. Mika & Joe are still in separate bunkers. Confessore acknowledged that there is a wall & steel fence across the border. It's a low energy show today so far. Willie is still away.Mika is wearing a black top.

Elise Jordan is starting to dress like Mika . She is mad that Sarah Sanders is lying about terrorists entering the USA.

There was so much BS thrown around the first. half hour I tuned off.

How many lies by trump and Sarah Sanders do we have to have played over and over again everyday?

I will disagree with Joe about Sarah getting caught in a lie on FOX. I'm sure the base thinks Chris Wallace is the liar.

Ok, just tuned in at the last hour.  Brief sighting of Heilemann, good to see him again.  Is that "That's Debatable" a new segment they are trying out because I kind of like it.  Glaude going after Rothman about climate change was a thing of beauty and it's one of the first segments I have seen in a very long time that actually feels genuine.  I hope they keep it up.  Saw Kasie's outfit.  Yeah . . . no.  That cowl neck looks like a neckbrace.

That clip of Wallace confronting Sanders was the highlight of my weekend.  She didn't even see it coming.  He really knows how to land a punch.

She needs a stylist, or a friend to go shopping with and tell her what doesn't work. Was that an orange blazer?  Is she the Syracuse Women's basketball coach?

Joe continually asking when the R's are going to stop following Trump blindly before the party is dust, and  Heileman says, uh Joe, it already is.   This continual blathering by Joe about when are the Republicans going to be whatever he thinks they were again is getting old.   Oh and let's track Trump's lies again.  Is this really all they have to talk about?  No thank you.

Re the marginal tax rates. The R's know what it is, but they know their base doesn't, so they misrepresent it to make it sound like AOC is nuts. Except under Eisenhower (not exactly a Socialist) it was 92%.  Joe is still a member of the Party of Dust.

Wow, does Joe not know how marginal tax rates work? Kind of disturbing considering he actually voted on that stuff.

Joe would be affected by any rise in taxes on people earning over $1m per year , so he got a bit upset. Joe used to freak out when the Democrats were raising marginal tax rates above 35% during the Obama administration.

Joe was relatively quiet during the debatable segment. Elise Jordan does not like big farms They don't treat animals well.

Noah said US carbon emissions are falling & Europe & China is rising. He mocked the EU for not following the Paris accord.

Eddie Glaude was excited about AOC's new green deal. It would eliminate fossil fuels after 10 years.

Joe reminded the panel that he wrote a book in 2009 where he supported Alternative Energy sources.

Joe does not support an 85% marginal tax rate.

Mika had to leave the show at 8 am to run errands.

It's a very boring episode to recap.

Holy cats did they actually say that?  Yeah, I bet they did.  As for Kasie's lightning bolt intro, I believe it has mercifully run it's course thank goodness.  They took what at first was kind of a fun idea and completely ground it into the dirt as only Morning Joe can.

I do believe this is an equal opportunity snarking forum. We comment on Joes clothes and hair, Podhertz’s sweaters, Willies dye job etc. it’s these people jobs to be looked at and we comment on what we see. I don’t believe we disrespect the women anymore than the men. Visual snark

Joe's obsession with wearing fleece on the set for over a year while everyone else wore suits was very rude. Mika dressed like a librarian in 2017.

Mini recap. Willie is back. Joe is mad that the networks are covering Trump's speech. Joe said that Christie & Sanders got better ratings than Trump during the 2016 campaign when they were on Morning Joe. I find that hard to believe given that Trump was on the how Trump got to call in almost every day.

Joe & Mika think that Trump will lie in his speech. Mika & Joe want fact checks during Trump's speech in real time.

Mika agreed with Joe & encouraged him during his rants.

The first 10 minutes was spent discussing Alabama losing the football game.

Robert Costa said that Warren will use populism to go after banks as opposed to immigrants. Mika likes Elizabeth Warren. Ratner does not like Warren. No fundraisers for him. Joe said Warren is more popular than Hillary Clinton. Mika likes Chris Matthews show.

Mika does not like being laughed at by other pundits. She said that she knew Warren would be better than Hillary.

Bremner is a good guest. He said the US needs allies for the next crisis.

And the Hillary hate continues.  How does Joe & Mika know Warren is more popular than Hillary Clinton? She announced she might run a week ago, there have been no primaries, she has no policy papers, no foreign policy stance, but she's great at making awkward videos of herself opening a beer.
