Joe hated Stephen Miller in the early days of the administration.

Probably Scarborough won't bother to mention Miller's meltdown on Jake Tapper today, or the fact that he had to be removed from the set by CNN security.   You think?

I just got back from Florida after a late flight. My driveway was filled with snow. I won't be able to do a recap tomorrow morning. I hope to recap Tuesday's show.

The BOOK author, on at 7:30 said that Bannon and KAC were the ones who arranged White House access for him.  I haven't seen KAC for months , cause I don't watch FauxNews, but this would be awesome if this fact caused her ousting.  I loathe her.  Should I say I "alternately" loathe her.

Wolff comes off as 100% credible.   He doesn't hesitate in the least when backing up his claims.  No equivocations, no side-stepping the questions, no nebulous non-committal answers -- just a firm and straightforward opinion that something is terribly wrong with the resident at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

I saw Stephen Miller on with Jake Tapper yesterday and I was a bit disappointed in Jake allowing Miller to talk over him and lie. Jake didn't even dispute the "self made millionaire" claim.

I'm glad Joe and Mika jumped on that.

I laughed when they showed the Miller escorted off the set headline. The guy is a worm.

Had to laff when they showed the Tapper/Miller brouhaha and Mika tsk-tsked that Tapper took Miller's shit longer than she would have. Ooh, Hard Hitting Barbie, you go grrrrl.

What's the deal with the rebroadcast still running at 8:36 AM?

It's always on for three hours where I am (mountain time). Usually the first hour re-runs during the third hour but sometimes the third hour is new.

I'm surprised Scarborough hasn't mentioned that Trump is attending the big Alabama-Georgia game tonight.   First time since being elected that he has ventured among the little people outside of a rally.   Guess he figures the odds are it'll be a friendly audience.

We are a very diverse state, but my "another country" remark was more about how wacky Florida is. Odds are that if you hear a story about something bizarre happening (for example, a man who throws an alligator into the drive-through window at Wendy's), it happened in FL.  :)

Maybe we're more like another planet.

I can't wait to hear the panel's take on 45's latest twitter storm. My favorite is this: "My two greatest assets have been mental stability and being, like, really smart."

I'm, like, totally convinced! /s

I don’t want to leave Florida. I am happy here doing recaps with views of Palm Trees:)

I enjoy reading books from the Florida author, Carl Hiassen. He writes stories about whacky Floridians.

I listen to a podcast called "Dumb People Town" which is basically a weekly collection of crazy shit that happens, and Florida is mentioned more than any other state. I found the story online and sent it to them.

ITA. I liked how Wolff told Mika if there were slight inaccuracies, it could possibly be attributed to his source remembering something incorrectly.   Do people not think he didn't have attorneys & editors checking everything in this book for libel?  And like he said, it's not about Trump per se, it's about what people working for him are going through.

I don't know how anyone who has seen Donald Trump on tv for more than five minutes in the last two years can think that any of the book is not true.  When journalists come at him with "Yeah but Trump said he didn't meet you", or "the staff is saying they didn't say that".

What the fuck do you THINK they're going to say??!!

I think Mika & Joe did a good job interviewing him, but of course they would be friendly toward him, he's confirming what they say.

Didn't see the whole show today, did they mention anything about the talk about Oprah's Golden Globes speech or talk about a presidential run for her?   Love to know how conservative Joe would feel about that.

I only saw the Wolff interview and then the first half hour, but Mika did have on black which I figured was in solidarity with the women at the awards.  Has she ever said if she saw Big Little Lies? I would think she'd like something like that, since it's about women realizing their value to each other.

Trump's tweets about his intelligence had definitely evoked the Homer Simpson 'I am so smart!' clip so I chortled when they actually played it, followed by Mika saying something about how that was exactly like Trump and Joe remarking 'That's an insult to Homer Simpson'. Ha!

Wolff has been burning up the talk show circuit. This guy is every-freaking-where.

Elise Jordan said that Oprah was a self made billionaire unlike Trump. Joe said Trump inherited several hundred million from his dad. I don't know where Joe got this information. Did Joe have access to Trump's dad's will? There were other Trump siblings. Wouldn't this information have been widely reported?

I found it interesting that Mika & Joe said that some of the information in the book about them was inaccurate but they didn't get too specific with Wolff when they interviewed him. Joe said he thought he knew who Wolff's source was, but Wolff wouldn't give it to them on air.

Mika complained to Wolff that she talked to Trump about women & had to repeat herself & made gestures of an hour glass , so he would understand what a women is. The book apparently says that Ivanka explained women to Trump. This is very bizarre.

Joe said he twice wrote in his columns for the Post that Trump has dementia but they won't let him write that.

He said he was OK with that. I am surprised that Joe did not lash out at them. I guess Joe wants to keep writing for them.

I find it ironic that Joe complains about Trump repeating himself when Joe does it regularly on his own show. Joe said Trump's dad had dementia , so that puts him at a higher risk, but Joe's mom has dementia , so isn't Joe at a higher risk as well?

Mika was wearing a new bracelet on her left hand. Her eye makeup was darker than usual.

I think this is where he said his source may have said Ivanka when it was Mika.   So maybe it happened at a dinner where both women were present?

It has been widely reported and is well known. It's also been reported that Trump would be far wealthier today if he had stuck his inheritance into an index fund rather than using it to build his real estate "empire."

It's well documented that Fred Trump left over $250 million (the amount wasn't disclosed more specifically)  to be shared among his four surviving children, inc. Donald Trump..  But Fred T. was already a mlultimillionaire when Donald was born and the company that Donald renamed "The Trump Organization" was his father's multimillion dollar real estate company ("E Trump & Son", named because Fred was too young to sign contracts and so his widowed mother did that for him.)  Fred Trump was a self-made millionaire.  (It's not at all clear whether Donald is actually a billionaire at all. Maybe. Maybe not, depending on level of debt.)

Who was the guest saying that Trump didn't have dementia, no way, no how?  I was looking forward to Joe talking with Wolff about it--as I know Joe's gone there before and was curious if he'd confirm the Jan 1 at Maralago anecdote.

I found the Morning Joe forum from the TWOP days.

It's quite fun going back & reading it. I cant't access every page, but it's more than enough to get a flavor of the show during the Romney/Obama era.

http://web.archive.org/web/20140329215559/http://forums.televisionwithoutpity.com/topic/3157204-morning-joe/page-431

This is great, thanks. I used to read TWOP on and off some years ago, and when I went back to it once it was gone. Fortunately I eventually stumbles on this replacement forum, but it will be fun to read through some of the TWOP postings that I missed.

Not the brother (Fred, Jr. who was deceased). He refused to give the brother's share to his son and daughter-in-law.  They sued, at which point Trump cut off the money that his father had been paying for the couple's infant son's life-threatening medical care. Eventually, there was a settlement, but Trump had no regret for cutting off thousands of dollars in medical care that the couple couldn't afford.

Donald Trump expanded the company that his father, a real self-made millionaire, built and turned "Trump" into a brand. But people still wonder if he's actually a billionaire, because he won't show the tax returns and so no one knows how much of the business exists from borrowed money only.   Donald Trump has never described himself as a self-made man, but still that image got out there and stuck. Neither he nor the media did enough to correct it.

His break with Scarborough is pretty surprising, considering how "all in" Joe and Mika were during the campaign, at least until mid-summer.  I wonder if Joe sees himself as part of a post-Trump Republican party making a political comeback, along with others like Flake and Sasse and Corker.

I turned it off when Joe started saying that things in the book about him and his show were wrong.  It's always about him.

Wolff wrote that Trump watched MJ every day, that it was his favorite morning show. We know that's not true anymore.  (Although since Wolff pointed out that Trump has three big tvs in his bedroom, it's very possible that one is on MSNBC, one on CNN and the other on FOX.  Even if he now hates Joe and Mika, he does love to watch cable television.)

Wow! I never knew hat Trump did that to his family. I still find it stunning that the shows like Morning Joe did not go in depth to analyze all of Trump's shady business deals in 2015 & 2016. They wanted to profit from the ratings bonanza of having him on daily.

Mika was mocking Trump yesterday for going bankrupt. Technically, it was some of his companies not him personally.

However, I find it difficult to take her seriously now, because she never brought up the issue when she & Joe were "Trump supporters" as Trump called them in 2015 & the first half of 2016.

I doubt Joe will ever run for office again.

Re Joe's mini rant about how you want the best neurosurgeon or the best plumber but for a politician he may not know much, but hey, I like him, they should have Tom Nichols on the show to talk about his book, "The Death of Expertise."  Yeah, it's a thing.

Joe sure got worked up over Oprah possibly running for president. My goodness. Was it really the death of expertise that he found so distressing? Earlier he was whining that the democrats were going to pick somebody like Bernie Sanders, who "real americans" couldn't connect with. First he said don't pick the guy that wants to give medicare to everybody, then he said don't pick the one that everyone knows and likes. What's the nature of the bug that's crawled up his ass?

Then he said Marco Rubio would make a good candidate and I knew he was talking out of his ass.

I agree 100% with Scarborough's view re: Oprah.    I'm a lifelong Democrat turned Independent and it's exactly this kind of pandering to culture that made me leave the party when the Dems decided to run Obama essentially on the basis of a single speech.

Our country has gone fucking insane; either that, or the Presidency has deteriorated to the point of meaninglessness given the utter lack of regard people have for the office.   Only someone who doesn't give a shit about their country could seriously propose Oprah for President.

I think what Scarborough's missing is that politics has suddenly morphed into an entertainment venue; the Trump presidency is The Walking Dead; cable news and its array of paid shills is Talking Dead.   Are we going to start electing people on the basis of whether they would make exciting guest stars for the upcoming season?

The topics on today's show made me want to crawl into a hole and just wait out my remaining years there.

Late recap due to malfunctioning snowblower. I hate

Mika is wearing a grey v neck top that Deanna Troi wore on Star Trek the Next Generation . Beam me up Mika!

First topic. Alabama won the football game by using a freshman quarterback in the second quarter. Joe was happy that Saban made the change at half time.

Joe forgot to mention that he was live tweeting the game last night with helpful suggestions to Alabama.

Second topic. Mika cooked a meal for Joe while wearing a World in Disarray apron & holding a pet pig. I hope they weren't having ham for supper.

Mika admitted that she fell asleep during the game.

Joe engaged Professor Eddie & Ratner in football talk as well as Ayman Mojadin!

Moyadin said that Alabama is not in the Big 10 league & Ohio State is better. Joe erupted and said that Bama & Georgia played the best football games he had seen.

It was fun to see Moyadin discuss something other than the Middle East politics.

Joe was upset that Trump was cheered  on the football field before the game. He said it reminded him of why Trump won. What? Joe went on a rant against Democrats for being condescding and hating college football.

The Democrats need a candidate who is popular with white rural voters & college football fans. OK Joe!

Joe said Trump's speech in Nashvile was like Springsteen greatest hits.

Rothman said there will be a blue wave in the fall. Ed Royce is retiring from Congress. The Orange County seat is now leaning democratic.

Joe complained that everybody wants to talk about Trump to Royce even though he is doing a good job on a key committee.

Joe said there have been waves between GOP & Democrats since 1994. No one can stay in control of governing because voters get fed up with both parties.

Joe said the USA needs a President with Washington experience.

Joe touted Jeb!, Marco! & Romney. Joe admitted he was too harsh on Rubio, but its OK if he ran in 2020 to replace Trump.

Joe thinks Trump can get re elected in 2020 even if the Democrats take back the House in 2018.

Joe said ideology doesn't matter. Joe said voters are too concerned about cultural issues. He only voted a few times on abortion & guns.

Joe blasted Obama for not having enough experience to run for President.

Joe is not a fan of Oprah running. Too much celebrities in politics.

The last 3 Presidents were outsiders & never understood Washington.

Joe was mad that Democrats picked Obama in 2008 when Biden & Dodd performed best in the debates from a policy point of view.

Democrats wanted an exciting candidate like Obama rather than boring Washington insiders like Biden.

This is hilarious because after each primary debate, Joe focused his critiques on the superficial style & made fun of Marco's cowboy boots etc.

The show went an hour without mentioning Trump's mental stability or his facial demeanor during the national anthem performance last night.

Joe was confused by  Lindsay Graham appearance on the View . He used to say that  Trump is a racist xenophobic bigot but now supports him. Mika said that Graham is getting a promotion from Trump.

Joe reminded everyone that in Dec 2015 he was right about Trump being a bigot for advocating a muslim ban.

Joe said he voted for Jeb & Kasich.

Joe ranted against Democrats for splitting the difference about Bill Clinton raping Junita Broderick.

A couple of points in tax cuts aren't worth sacrificing deeply held values.

LOL!. Gee Joe,didn't you sacrifice your values to become a mouthpiece for Trump for almost two years so you could get higher ratings?

Preach.  I'd have written that in Oprah's style of sing songing the final syllable of some word she wants to give weight to.  But didn't know how.  "Puh Ree EEEEEEEEEEEEECH!"?  How about we have experts in policy and bureaucracy run government, and Oprah can do whatever the hell she does.  Oprah should campaign tirelessly and speak, fund raise, support, and be out in the front, but she should not be the Dem's Donald Trump.  Absurd beyond description.  Joe's right.
