This morning they ran a discussion of the Johnson and Johnson verdict in Oklahoma, but there were no legal experts, just two reporters, Joe, and Mika.  At the end of the segment Mika editorialized that, hopefully, this could be a significant change before another drug company wipes out a generation.  Thanks for that legal analysis, Meeks.

It was a nice try at a non Trump story, but they totally left us hanging on the question of whether the case could be reversed on appeal. They really needed a legal expert to talk about this case, not Mika and Joe and Barnicle.

Does Joe hate his present wife that much???   He constantly - constantly! - talked over her as she tried to read off the teleprompter.   He would NOT shut the hell up.   He either thought he was being cute or he really really hates her.   And she, Ms. Know Her Value, instead of telling him to zip it while she's speaking, just plodded on, or hesitated, and then giggled, as she plowed ahead, not knowing how to handle the subtle bullying.   Is she scared of him or something?   The whole thing was odd and rude and uncomfortable.

This AM Mika was on FIYAH!  She really was angry, (about Trump but also about the connection of Epstein and Trump and...Bill Clinton).  She made some good line about the MAGA hat.  Much better than the usual "wow".

I forget his name, but the AA dude with the white beard talking this morning about electability has to stop talking. He is always dissing Biden in favor of AA candidates. I feel he is biased towards candidates of color. His commentary and opinions should be colorblind like most on MJ, but they are not.

Joe said that rank & file Democrats support Biden. Mika was excited about Biden.

Joe complained about influencers and activists that don't like Biden & want a more progressive candidate.

Granted, I didn't see much of the show this morning.  But I tuned in to see Meeka introduce Shaq in gushing tones - like she actually knew who he was. And then the interview. I have to wonder why Joe was not present.  He was not on at all the last half hour - was he?  But at least Meeka did not do the interview.   And at the end - dead air and crickets until Meeka said "wow" - and more happy voice gushing.

She also gushed and giggled over Kasey's upcoming baby.  Is it real?  Or is birthing babies something she is more comfortable with than reporting actual news.

On NPR I heard that J&J is appealing, and that the judge lowered the amount from the original claim, $17 billion. 

Any case can be reversed, depends on what defense comes up with. Maybe Oklahoma AG should have gone for arbitration, which means they get a set amount, based on damages and there's no appeal.  Something like what happened with PG&E and Hinckley, the Erin Brockovich case.  Sometimes plaintiffs see the big $ amounts but don't realize they won't see that money for years, and it's better to get something, because large corporations will just appeal and appeal and appeal.  No one will see anything until appeals run out. 

I know the Sackler's (Purdue Pharma) are sweating bullets, they're going to settle, and hope for confidentiality agreements.

She wasn't specific but in the past she blamed Obama for not socializing enough with members of Congress.

Somehow I have never bought her supposed love of the babies.   It seems too forced to be real, as if she's just acting how she thinks one is supposed to act around babies, not how she actually feels.

This morning Joe is on a tear about Trump's claims that he is building a wall.  They are talking about a WaPo story that Trump promised pardons in exchange for building the wall.  But, instead of getting a WaPo reporter to discuss their report, they have an interview with a NY Times reporter.  So no one from WaPo wants to discuss the story, or did the producers not care to get them?  It's ridiculous.

Katty Kay was upset that parliament was suspended . There is less time to discuss the opposition to Brexit.

Katty does not support a no deal Brexit.

Joe was happy that the Red Sox were within 5 games of a playoff spot.

A  thought occurred to me this AM--Joe has literally not said one brand-new statement since Trump took office.  Every single thing he says is a replay of a statement he's previously made. They were original at one point but now they are all stock phrases--Trump is a lifelong Democrat, Trump is a racist that denied minority renters--you know what they are. 

So--why doesn't MSNBC save money and just make up a large electronic board with each button correlating with one of his stock phrases, broadcast a video of Joe moving his mouth and just have a PA punch the appropriate stock phrase button as a reply to each question?  I am serious.  I mean, if Trump loses, on Jan. 20, 2021 Joe is all of a sudden going to have to start working.

Cat Lady needs to spend that "most valuable art collection in the world" money on something other than looking like a cat.  And Katty should take that advice too.  It seems like every 3-4 months she's having more work done. 

I do not understand how Mika has so much vacation time.  She barely works 15 hours a week, does no prep, and still takes off at least 5-7 days a month if not more.  Other hosts do double duty, and get a week or so every few months. 

I guess no one complains since she's not in NY anymore. They're like fuck it, we don't have to deal with her & Joe and their egos and bullshit.  Who cares?

I think this is a great idea!. It would allow Joe more time to work with his band & they record several albums for the 2020 campaign. Joe should write a song for each of the remaining Democratic candidates.

Mika needed time off as she prepared for Kasie Hunt's baby arrival.

Mik will be interviewing Kasie from the delivery room & accept congratulations if Kasie agrees to name her child Mika or Joe.

Yeah I give up.  It was fun/snarky watching the two of them chase each other around (and I am ashamed of myself for saying this as to this day I can't imagine the pain they caused their families) but their 3 hour block has become a dead zone in terms of news/information.  Same people, same topics, same takes.  You know you've lost the battle when the Freeform channel is preferable to what you are offering.

I was hopeful that the show would get better during the Democratic Presidential nomination.

There are so many candidates to interview. They could even have had mini debates between some of the candidates.

However, Mika & Joe don't seem to be interested in showing up in the studio to properly interview the candidates.

In addition, Joe & Mika have made it clear who they will support as the nominee and are very dismissive of most if not all of the candidates.

Genius my friend, I so wish they would do something constructive like this with their show but I have given up any hope that this will occur as it would interfere with their vanity projects.

eta:  I have been watching Dorian coverage and it never dawned on me once that it may impact the Morning Joe FL team.  I am sure we will get a fresh update when they return to the air on Tuesday (you know, after the danger has passed or will they be broadcasting from any of their other remote locations).

Not sure what I am watching this morning.  I see Yasmin interviewing an author; previously I watched Meeka with her hair pulled back in a twist.  Then someone else. And maybe Craig Melvin? What parts of the show are "live" today?

I tuned in to CNN to see one of their anchors...John something? being windblown in Florida.  Since The Twins live down there (did they evacuate?) - seems it would be ideal to have them reporting live.  I would love to see either of them being blown around...just a little.  Her hair (and his) getting mussed; having to think on their feet, being engaged.

I am not saying we should not talk about things other than hurricanes, shootings and boats sinking with a lot of people on them.  But.

We tuned in to The Weather Channel first thing to check on the hurricane; then to CNN for Chad Myers (I think that is the CNN weatherman that I love).  MSNBC was in commercial.  When the show came back - it was discussion about Pence staying at the Trump golf course in Scotland and how it was costing taxpayers millions.  Screeching hair on fire.  Then another commercial.  When the show came back, Joe told Jonathan LeMire to talk about the "most important" story of the day...the Red Sox.  Yes, because we are all Red Sox fans .. the entire MJ audience and the entire country.  And we all hate the Clintons because they were about as bad as Trump.  They were just smarter about how they went about things.  That is what Mr. Kemper and I got from the 15 minutes or so we watched.  We are back to the CNN reporter (John Berman?) standing on a windy, rain beach in Florida. 

Joe constantly interrupted Meeka ... and he is now a Person of Color...a tan person.  I must admit the change in hue looks good on him; glad he has been relaxing and out in the sun...  he never gets to do that.  Snerk.  They are in the New York studio this morning?  I guess that is what it takes to get them off their cushy tushes and back to the "grind" of New York and being on an actual set.  Somebody tell John Berman that he is being overworked.

Snort, man they really pounced on that opportunity to dunk on the Clinton's didn't they?  Yikes Joe was spitting fire about how the Clinton's used Media Matters to slime people (have no clue what he's talking about but I honestly don't care either) in response to the story about allies of the president combing through certain reporter's media accounts to use against them.  Meeks was nodding along like one of those dogs you see on the dashboards of cars until she caught a glimpse of herself in the monitor and stopped dead in her tracks.  Same thing happened a few minutes later, see it's good to come to a real studio with more than one monitor so you can see what we see and it shouldn't take a Category 5 hurricane to do it.

Oh and to show her displeasure about all that baseball talk, she started rearranging her credit cards in her wallet.  On the air.  For everyone to see.  Plus she has her purse stuffed into her chair with her with about 30 different charging cords sprouting from it.  So thirsty.

And Oakville...you are right.  They should have taken the usual Morning Off.  It was just unseemly watching the baseball discussion (remember, Story of the Day according to Joe) and Meeka primping and being so above-it-all.  She should have finally taken the opportunity to run the discussion and put these aging frat boys in their place.

This morning's hosts and discussions were unseemly, undignified and not worthy of being aired.  In all, we were watching a bunch of rich, entitled, smug, full-of-themselves corporate shills who push their own personal agendas over anything happening in the world, no matter the human suffering.  Back to drenched John Berman on the beach and Allison Camerata reporting actual news and doing actual interviews...she does her homework.  Humbug.

I am going to take the extremely unfamiliar position of defending Meeks this morning as Joe is just completely unspooled.  He must have taken up 95% of the conversation this morning.  I didn't even realize Deutsch and Karine were even on the set until they had a wide camera shot of the entire table.  She did try and grab the conversation back a couple of times but Joe just blew right through any attempts to steer the conversation away from him and based on her "now the show is six minutes behind" line she flung at him when they were cutting away to break I am sure Joe's going to have to buy her a nice size piece of cake to make up for his boorish behavior this morning.

Or maybe he could buy her a new wallet as she probably ripped a couple of credit card slots the way she was jamming those poor cards in there earlier.

And for this, some Idiot In Charge Of Things pays her 7 millions freaking dollars.   It's an upside down world for sure.

I didn't watch  this morning, my sympathies to those of you who did, but I wonder if Joe means Daily Kos. That's the political site owned by Markos Moulitsas, who had the audacity to troll Joe regarding Lori Klausutis, I believe in response to his constant harping on Clinton, ie "well at least no one died who had an affair with Clinton". 

Or it could be Media Matters. All the progressive sites love to point out what a hypocrite he is. 

I do find it interesting that it takes a hurricane to get them to actually work at the studio. I saw the first couple minutes at 8 am, with Trump having a hard time talking and find it quite ironic that Mika, who never met a teleprompter she could read, is making fun of him.

No one is claiming it's free. Everyone who is running acknowledges that it would require new revenue, shifts in taxation, and other structural adjustments to fund these programs. And we can all argue the merits of the policies and determine whether it's worth rescinding that $1 trillion tax cut to pay for some or all of it. But those conversations need to start from a place of honesty and factual accuracy, not wild misrepresentations like we heard today.
