I didn't see the debates, so I did not get the opening thing they did.

From that clip, Trump seems like a colossal  ass. I wish he'd go away.

The debate entrance was hilariously awkward.    I thought The View's version of it was pretty good.

The part I laughed at the hardest was Paula congratulating the ABC Team for doing such a good job with the debate -  when it was the introduction of the candidates that had everyone talking, and that was totally an ABC flub.  If the candidates couldn't hear their names being called, and were told to enter WHEN THEY HEARD THEIR NAME,  and the announcer wasn't  aware that the candidates her introduced had not yet entered  - then it was an ABC screw -up.

But Paula wanted to make sure she was on record that ABC did a great job!  Yeah, congrats to whoever screwed it up, because it was the most talked-about moment of the debate!!

Hee. Now I get it. *snort* Thanks ;-)

I know this sounds sappy, but I feel bad for Sherri. It seems she is off the rails.... more than usual.

Whoopie made headlines on Page Six yesterday.  The article basically said that she's doing things to get fired by ABC.  Apparently, she's been making snide comments about being a "slave" to ABC and talking like an uneducated person by saying things like "I's a work for ABC, who's my master.  I's a slave to ABC.  It's 12 Years A Whoopie".   The article also said that ABC is preparing to fire Collins and Raven-Symone at the end of this season.

That's "old news" about The Whoopster .... last Fall I think.  They're always "talking" about firing someone, so I wouldn't place much stock in it.  Just sayin'.

Did Sherri actually get paid for that piece of ridiculous tape? That is why I really have no respect for her, that was beyond pathetic but all Sherri in her fantasy bubble.....

I only watched about 15 seconds when she was on the prowl for Cam Newton. Did she do more ?

The lengthy segment of Sherri at the Super Bowl was (as we've agreed here) hugely embarrassing.  She probably thought she was playing a role, sort of, but it didn't come off as cute - it came off as pitiful.  Of all the stupidness, I thought the "Oh, did he lose??" was probably the stupidest. I wondered several times as I saw her at the different locales, and figured how long she was in the Bay Area, what it must have cost ABC to fly her out there, put her up in a nice hotel, drive her around, provide the camera people, get her on-the-field access, &c.     And all for a segment with a 'character' (to think about it generously) that represented a slightly brain-dead adolescent.  (I know 13 year olds who are much more sophisticated, so I shouldn't put down adolescents.)  Do you think they'll send her to the Republican and Democratic conventions?  Oh mercy me.

To appreciate The View entrance today - you have to see this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OR1kV2hBaGY

though it's seen as "ben Carson blew it", he never heard his intro, and didn't want to walk out when they announced Cruz.

BWAH!!!!! It didn't look like to me he didn't hear his intro. He started to walk, then stopped. Then let Cruz pass him. Trump did the same thing!  And they forgot all about Kasich until someone said something to David and Martha. I'm laughing my ass off here.

Either the camera person is 3.5 ft tall or they really don't like Sherri.  I thought it was taped from the most unflattering angle possible.

It seemed like the rest of The Whoopi Show was the self-proclaimed relationship expert ending every single topic with one of her lengthy lectures - even when the voice in her earpiece told her to move on.  My favorite part was the audience groaning at her lame (as usual) segue, "Speaking of sausages, Melanie Griffith...."   and then  Miss Whoopi BLAMING the audience for not finding it funny; in other words the audience was listening even if Whoopi was not.   She just automatically does that, "Speaking of ______, how 'bout this...."

Yeah, Whoopi was definitely copping an attitude today. Screaming at the voice in her ear to shut about about going to commercial, snapping at everyone who groaned at her horrible segue that insulted Melanie Griffith. There was a lot of barely contained rage behind her facade. And then the shirt with MISUNDERSTOOD emblazened across it?

You know, flight attendants get paid nothing to stand at the door and welcome the most obnoxious people onto a plane and manage to usually be convincing, professional, and polite. (Literally -- they don't get paid for their time until the flight doors are closed.). Yet, Miss Whoopi can't manage to pretend to be professional for a whole lot of money for the whopping four hours a week that she's on camera?

I had to FF through Sherri's segment once she made the remark about being a cougar. I find myself embarrassed for her.

After watching the "Me So Horny" Sherri bit, I really think it was all super imposed on a green screen. Truthfully, I don't think she went to the Super Bowl at all!!!!!

I find it really disgusting that she keeps up that routine, not to even mention that it's about as funny as a horse with a broken leg being led into the glue factory.

I felt that Melanie Griffith was being insulted with Whoops' segue. Im not sure why exactly, but I didn't like it.The audience didn't seem to go for it either.

I, too, got a green screen vibe from Sherri's bit. I still say I feel sad for her. Imma sap.

Whoopie's sweater or sweatshirt had "Misunderstood" written on it which I'm sure was her response to her critics.

Yeah, I only saw the beginning, but it looked like someone took the dictionary definition of "misunderstood", printed it on cloth  and sewed it on to her sweatshirt.  Did she ever say a word about the shirt?

I got a passive-aggressive vibe from it.  Like she wasn't supposed to say something, so she put it on her shirt.

Note to Miss Whoopi - if you wear a sweatshirt that says Misunderstood and then don't explain it - then you are not understood.

Also, if you wear it and mean by TPTB on the show and the viewers - the perhaps it is you are not capable of explaining why you feel that way. And why people can't seem to understand you.

Green screened?  Hahahaha, I wouldn't be surprised.  That's funny and would be in keeping with this show.  One thing was clear - she wasn't allowed into the game at all and only on the field after it was all over.  It thought it was real because the production value was so low and because tof the way people on the field were looking at her when she was wearing a go-pro on her arm and acting like a loud loon.

Maybe because saying, "Speaking of sausages, Melanie Griffith...." sounds like she was comparing Melanie Griffith to a sausage.  It sounded insulting because it was insulting.  But I honestly doubt Whoopi even gave it a second thought - her segues are the worst.  When the audience groaned she looked surprised, like, "What?  What did I say?"

Just watched the show and you guys are right.  Sherri looked unhinged.  I thought she had given up the horny single mom routine after the disaster with Big Sal and literally every other relationship she has ever been in.  I don't know if Sherri has ever had a real, true, loving relationship.  There was one point where she was teary eyed when she was whispering Cam Newton's name and she looked the same as my 12 year old granddaughter used to look when she would tear up looking at Justin Bieber on tv.  I'm concerned for her.

I have nothing to add about Miss Whoopi.  I just got back from vacation and don't want to ruin my relaxation.

I like Sarah Haines.  (Don't tell Vinyasa.)

I think Sherri has some in production who enjoy her "act."  They bought Sherri's pitch to them of her going to the Super Bowl, doing professional and hilarious interviews, and being gaga over Cam.  The whole thing fits the vibe of her "stand-up," her short-lived sitcom, and the persona she has been peddling for years.

Sherri's "bit" was the epitome of pathetic ... SHE is monumentally pathetic!!!

Medicine Crow, is this an example of hyper-bowl Super Bowl?

Ha! Too funny. Your secret is safe with us.

Sherri was beyond pathetic. I somehow managed to miss yesterday's show (I'm blessed that way sometimes) but caught some clips online after reading here. The Spew producers are going out of their way to rehab Sherri and instill her ridiculousness back onto us. Stop it!  Stop trying to give the impression that Sherri is young and hip. Just because she has the mentality of a very wayward Millennial doesn't mean she IS, nor is she going to appeal to the young crowd.

That remote SB bit should have gone to Michelle or Raven. It couldn't have been any worse.

Paula can shut the hell up. It makes you uncomfortable? Good. It's SUPPOSED TO. Argh. I'm sorry , if I was performing at the Superbowl Halftime Show, and I had the opportunity to send a message to millions of people on a visual medium, then damn, I'm gonna do it. Beyonce's performance was fantastic and it's getting people talking again. Paula can just shut up, especially with her so called distraction with Bruno Mars. Man this woman made me want to smack her.

I see that Joy just signed a BIG multi-year deal to stay with the View.  Maybe we can hope this is the first step to getting rid of Whoopie?

Hurray! Glad to hear it.

Thanks for posting about it, KLovestoStop. Apparently she signed a three year deal. Great news! Glad to know Joy’ll be on TV for 3 more years at least. She's definitely the saving grace of this show right now.

Today’s show… I guess it was a relief to finally get away from Raven, but both Candace and Paula were trying their hardest today. Candace is still the worst of the two, imo. That whole part with her calling out Whoopi for referring to them as “bitches”--as a joke--and trying to equate it to what Trump has said was ludicrous. If she’s this sensitive about everything, maybe she shouldn’t have agreed to go on national television. I don’t believe Candace supports any woman in anything—I think she’s the very last person who should come out and speak about what is or isn’t “feminist.” She and Paula are walking examples of the reality that women do not support other women. Hell, Paula can't even stand a black woman to support black people at the Superbowl without feeling “uncomfortable.” She has no obligation to you, Paula, to be “neutral” when it suits you. Saying black lives matter should not be considered “political.”

And, hey, I was glad Sunni was there today. Go figure. She got on my nerves less than those two. Whoopi was actually good today—to me, anyway.

Yes, he damaged something in his vocal chords during the filming of the mini-series. It's still healing.

Now I've heard not only here, but other places, that politicians have issues with Beyonce's performance at the Superbowl and I am just confounded. The message seems to be that musical artists aren't allowed to voice their protests against what is wrong? Be it what is going on in our own country, but what the U.S. may be involved in? I seem to recall, no, I know that groups like The Byrds, protesting the Vietnam war, sang "Turn! Turn! Turn!" there was John Lennon, Peter, Paul and Mary-"The Answer My Friend, is Blowin' in the Wind," to name just a few. Before my time, but I don't recall reading anything about the artists being fingered personally for doing anything wrong by releasing said songs. Maybe I'm wrong, but I swear, it just seems we're regressing as a society.

I'm not a huge Beyonce fan; and I didn't watch the Superbowl or the half-time show, but I have seen clips, and I say to Beyonce: 'You go, gurl!"

And Giuliani and his ilk can just Fuck Off.

First of all, let me preference this by saying that I don't give a rat's behind by what anyone did or didn't do at the Super Bowl, but I'm just reporting what I've heard and read.  And it's completely true that performers throughout modern history have used songs to voice discontent.  But like with any protest songs, there are those who feel offended by those songs especially when those songs condemn what they may be a part of.

It's not just politicians who are upset with Bey and her new song/video Formation.  People feel it's a huge FU to police with images of her sitting on a police car that's sinking in water along with other anti police images.  They feel she's being disingenuous because of the fact that she and her family get a lot of consideration from various police departments including a police escort to and from the Super Bowl venue.  Many feel she's pandering to certain segments of society when she herself isn't really part of the fray.  As for her actual performance, people thought it funny that a billionaire superstar capitalist would invoke the image of the Lenin/Marxist following of the Black Panther party.

But like I said, don't slam me.  I'm just the messenger as to what the conservatives are feeling, and not just the politicians.  I, for one, couldn't care less what singer says or does on stage as that doesn't affect me one tiny bit.  I find I don't tend to listen to lyrics of songs, just the basic beat to bop to.  And for the record, I thought Cold Play was just OK, and Bruno rocked, but that's just my opinion.

Last time I checked this is still the land of the free although if a Republican is elected in November that might change. An artist is free to exhibit their art. Beyonce is free to sing and perform about what she wants. If people don't like it that is their right. And for people to say artists shouldn't make political statements with their art that is ridiculous. Art isn't supposed to be just for entertainment purposes. It is also hopefully supposed to make you think

I love provocative art and a good political statement as much as the next person; in this particular instance it came via a vessel I cannot take seriously. Beyonce is just too f*cking trite for my taste. Kudos to her for making the hard right cry big fat salty white boy tears, though!

Exactly.

But, but, but if an artist of color dares say black, white, negro, Creole, Alabama, Louisiana, being poor, or being a working girl earning her money - out loud, in public - while wearing skimpy clothes, then that is cause for offense. How dare she say things that CCB's children might hear and cause them to think.

And Paula can be offended all she wants. She gets to sit on a panel and expose her beliefs on a daily basis. What's good for the goose...

Miss Whoopi kept trying to cast the debate about Beyonce' in terms of whether or not it's appropriate to get political/send a message at a huge event like the Superbowl or the Oscars.  And that is how Giuliani started out his comments about the matter, too. But he rapidly segued into a criticism of the message she was sending.  That is what is really bothering people imo .... the message.  Not the forum in which it was spoken, Whoops.

Why bother to discuss what happened if you won't really acknowledge the elephant in the room?   Or in this case, the Black Panther, lol (this year is the 50th anniversary of the organization's founding, btw.  And February is Black history month.  LOL I think half of what is pissing off Giuliani and his ilk are that Beyonce' put one over on them.  Maybe they should have seen this coming, snerk! Big salty white boy tears, indeed LOL).

I suppose Whoops and TPTB just wanted to keep the discussion simple and not turn it into a huge discussion of the Black Lives Matter movement.  I guess I understand that.  It is certainly beyond the capacity of most of this crew to do the subject justice. But they could at least acknowledge that THAT is what really has people upset.  It's not just about the precious Superbowl being polluted by a political message.

For example, I doubt Paula's panties jerked into a knot when Jared Leto gave a shout out to the people of Ukraine in his Oscar acceptance speech, a subject most people agreed about.  Let's not pretend it just about the forum a message is spoken in and not about the message itself.

To be honest, I watched the half-time show & thought Coldplay was really vanilla & as Wendy Crewson said on The Social "it felt like I should have been dropping acid" with all the flying psychedelic flowers & I agreed.  Bruno Mars was great & Beyonce was fantastic.  I don't listen to the words, just the music & frankly, I didn't notice her homage to Malcolm X until it was pointed out later.  She's a fabulous dancer (for a box of hair that has billions of dollars) & that's what I like.
