Brandon from Humans of New York was on a CNN show with Aya, a refugee with a heart-breaking story whose cause HONY is championing. He said that there are millions of refugees and that the U.S. is taking in 10,000. He visited camps in Turkey and spoke to many of them. The thing that he said that really got to me is that the U.S. has the luxury of picking and choosing, and the ones we are opening our doors to either have (a) a Ph.D. or (b) a horrible physical handicap.

I applaud Susan Sarandon for her compassion.

Yesterday's show was good, in no small part to Whoopi being in a good mood. I would tune in happily if that Whoopi showed up every day instead of grouchy, finger-shaking, lecturing, bullying, misanthropic Whoopi. I'm afraid to watch today!

Don't worry ChicagoCita she's tolerable .... IMO.  LOL.

I wanted to slap half the panel across the face.  Clinton calling Trump out for his gross sexism isn't her asking for anything.

It's funny, we managed to go a whole primary season without Bill's peccadilloes being a campaign issue, but this slime Trump makes them an issue for Hillary?  I couldn't believe that CCB said that Hillary asked for it.

Nice way to stick up for your gender, dumbass.  Paula was just as disgusting.

Nicolle Wallace was on MJ last week saying that Hillary had said all sorts of unkind things about Monica in 2014, all she said was that she thought it was time for Monica to move on.

Republican women befuddle me.

Well, let me tell you - It is possible to forget a bathing suit for that kind of vacation.  I did.  I  went on a beach vacation once, and didn't bring a bathing suit, so to me it was believable.

Oh I can believe Joy forgot her swimsuit, I just don't believe she couldn't buy one on the cruise ship or a shore stop.   I guess it's possible though.

Looks like they're in full Whoopi rehab mode. I'm not buying it. Even though she's not so preachy or confrontational, she still can't read the teleprompter worth a flip and her segues are just as awkward as they ever were.

Me neither.   Whoopi rehab will never extend to her moderating skills -I think  if she was going to learn how to do it she would have by now.  I guess it doesn't extend to her work wardrobe either.    Today's outfit  was one for the record books, enhanced of course by sitting at the table with her legs as far apart as they go.   I'm thinking Whoopi's calmer demeanor is because she probably got her hands on some good wake-and-bake pre-show weed.

How Not Hot was the the Fake $20 Tip That's Really a Religious Tract topic.  Sheesh -  that was happening when I waited tables a million years ago.   Joy's  shock and awe that waitstaff are often still only paid $3  an hour just pissed me off.

And no wonder this show is so cheap to produce - they let PolitiFact etc.  (or in Raven's case, Twitter) do all their fact checking - AFTER of course they gave free air time to Windbag in Weave's campaign ad. That entire topic was a mess; from Whoopi declaring that her mother, her grandmother and her great grandparents "busted their ass to be here"  to Joy declaring "the Mexicans are leaving."  Yes Joy, but that's in large part to the fact that the deportation of illegal immigrants reached a record high under the Obama administration.

I admit I did laugh out loud when Raven excitedly responded to something Whoopi said with, "That's exactly what Kimberly on Twitter said!!!"    That girl is so ignorant it's scary.

Lol the " That's what Kimberly on Twitter said" Just when I think Raven can't get any worst she proves me wrong.

And Joy not knowing waitress only make $3.00 an hr and most often less than that... It's like. None of them have a clue.

Early in the show, what word did Paula say that Raven said she'd have to look up?  (I was making muffins & listening to my upstairs TV, no DVR.)

I think Paula said "equivocating"  but I'm not %100 sure since shockingly there were several people at the table talking at once.

After the clip of President Clinton talking to some ABC reporter:

Whoopi:  So....

Joy:   So he didn't really answer the question....

Whoopi: Well no but why should he?

Raven: Yeah, why should show his true colors as a politician...

Whoopi, Well yeah, that's what he is....

Paula:  Equivocating.  Equivocating is what they do.

ETA:  Welcome MsLeta!

Are Michelle and CCB ever there at the same time?   I wonder if Michelle did her time at the table this fall when CCB was doing whatever she was doing and now that she's back Michelle is on the bench.

Is CCB still filming that 80's sitcom for Netflix?   Is that why she's wearing the pageant hair?

But Paula's story was lame and here's why:  First, If I am having a conversation with another Democrat then I really don't need to announce my political affiliation because ostensibly we know each other and if we are talking politics they know I'm a Democrat.  Secondly. does Paula think that means Democrats are supporting Trump en masse?  So yes, Bitsyesque because she could have just said, "I think there are Trump supporters who used to be Democrats." and skipped the story.

It's the polarizing aspect that I hate.   We are a nation of people of different backgrounds and beliefs.  We're not just democrats and republicans.   Those labels are too restrictive.   And people are not required to declare that they are one or the other.   Yes, you have to align yourself with a party in order to vote in the primary.  But you can change that, and the primary is the only time it's relevant.  There are plenty of Americans who don't have an allegiance to a political party.

The other thing is - we're still talking about the primary.   Democrats can register as Republican and vote for Trump IN THE PRIMARY, in order to make sure he gets the nomination.  It doesn't mean they support him.  it COULD mean they want Trump to be the candidate running against Clinton, because they think Clinton has a better chance of winning against Trump than against another Republican.   I've heard of people doing this type of thing the last two elections, though I don't know how widespread it is.  vote for the candidate you think YOUR candidate has the best chance of beating.

Candace seems like a nice person, but other than her Christianity outlook, I don't see what she adds to the show (other than being pretty and wearing cute, sexy, peek- a- boo outfits with sky high heels). When she speaks I lose track of what she's saying because she rambles, then looks to Whoopi to help her clarify. If Joy were not on the panel, I would completely tune out of this mess, because Paula is boring, Raven is unintelligent and irritating, Michelle is too hyper and interrupts, and Whoopi, well what more is there to say?

Rand Paul wouldn't dare touch gun control. Any Republican who dares mention sensible action would be shot for treason by his fellow candidates (probably by an assault rifle provided by the NRA).

I was just so ticked off at Whoopi today when she started in with the "if you can't ask your partner for what you want in bed, why are you even in that relationship?" crap.  She was basically saying that if a woman is passive in bed, its evidence her relationship is flawed somehow, and that is nonsense.

There are many reasons why a woman might feel unable to verbally express her sexual preferences .... maybe she is a little inhibited or "shy" as Joy put it.  In that situation, not speaking up is in no way a commentary on the relationship at all.   You could have as close and trusting a relationship as anyone else, but because of one's personality,  a woman is just not comfortable expressing her wants in bed.  And some women have the mindset that they are supposed to let their partner control what goes on, or it's not "ladylike" to be assertive in that way.  Now maybe that is not the ideal attitude we ought to be encouraging - but it has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not a relationship is worth of being in.

I hardly expect callous, ignorant, judgmental Whoopi to be uplifting about any subject, but damn .... it would have been so easy for her to use this moment to encourage women who tend to be quiet in bed to give speaking up a try, to emphasize there is nothing wrong with it.  But no, not our Whoopi.  Instead she chooses to undermine them and subtly shame them for completely normal behavior by suggesting it is evidence they are in a bad relationship.   Nice.  I guess all those women who are deeply inhibited and unable to change might as well go hide under a rock because all their relationships will be flawed and not worth being in. Great message to send, there, Whoopster.

Joy started to "go there" and challenge Whoopi, but of course it had to turn into a joke .... like always.  If ONLY someone would seriously articulate a response and not just clown it off or back down.  That's just useless.   They may as well not even be there if they are going to let Whoopi lay down one foolish dictate after another.  She can sit at the big table alone, reading from her The Big Book of Whoopi-isms, the master guide to relationships from the woman who brags about having had so many failed relationships she has given up even trying.  On her days off, ABC can just put a giant picture of her onscreen like China used to do with Chairman Mao and play triumphant music just to remind you who is in charge.

I see the new and improved Whoopi lasted for 2 shows.

She was back to yelling "YOU CANNOT......!!!" rather than something a little more gentle like.....perhaps one shouldn't, or could.....or imo .....or I prefer to.....

No one wants to be lectured and told they can't do something just because Whoopi does or doesn't.

She wasn't as bad as we know she can be, but, yeah, she seem pissed throughout the whole show. Maybe because Sarah was there and neither of the Whoopi-endorsed Michelle/Raven were? I was surprised she was even condescending to Joy... Somehow Whoopi makes tension with everyone these days. At least she's not targeting Paula constantly anymore.

Of course when everyone ignored her rolling her eyes, she made sure she pushed into the camera while it was on Candace during the telling-what-to-do-during-sex topic. I can understand what Joy meant anyway. It's easier to talk about what to do after or before, not during.

I reeeeeeally don't want to say this, but Sherri Shepherd was on Meredith's show today & told about when she first went to The View from L.A. & didn't have the appropriate clothes.  Apparently, Whoopi took her to a fancy shop where the clothes were, according to Sherri, way beyond what she was accustomed to.  She was freaked out when going to paying for them because her credit card had a $700 limit, but the cashier told her that Whoopi had already picked up the tab.  When she questioned Whoopi, she was told to pay it forward & later she sent a guy to Seminary College for two years.  So there's that ...

Now I'm not calling B.S. on the story, but why would someone intentionally embarrass themselves by selecting a bunch of clothes they knew they couldn't pay for???

If the show is such a mess on screen imagine what's going on behind the scenes.

And to answer Paula's question today regarding mass shootings, there are a lot people who have ideas. The Sandy Hook Promise is about community outreach programs to make sure a mental illness is not ignored because a lot of people failed Adam Lanza along the way not just his family and God for giving him zero chance with THAT brain chemistry. Mother Jones also just wrote an article detailing Threat Assessment schools and companies have to spot troubled individuals since Columbine and with each new case the systems will be improved upon like new ways the media should cover them (similar to suicides) so they don't spread. All the panelists repeated the same things they always say. Candace is really an idiot. Republicans just can't give Obama anything even something as common sense as background checks. Obama should have said, "A lot of black people are felons so this will cut down on crime," just to see what they'd say and he gives zero fucks since he's almost done.

Joy must really regret coming back.

Wait!   Whoopi is an EXPERT!  She is a published author of a book all about relationships.   Just like some of the previous hosts are published authors in their areas of expertise - Sherri on dieting, Bitsy on celiac disease.   Whoopi has that same level of expertise and deserves the same level of respect.

If they hadn't wasted so much time on that stupid cooking segment we may have been able to see the clip of Natalie Cole singing in it's entirety or close to it.

Remember on various live talk shows when guests were so interesting the host(s) kept them on beyond their "scheduled" segments?  There would be an apology and a promise to schedule them soon.  WHY can't The View do that?   Is there some commission-based scale where the producers get more money if they can cram in as many "personalities" as possible?

I'm editing this because I left out a complete thought...about scheduled guests who were BUMPED...so the promise was to "reschedule" them soon.  OY!  I'm seniling more every day.

Sounds like I picked a good day to skip The Spew - Whoopi talking about sex?   Ewwwwww.   Actually, I did start watching but only got two minutes in before I decided today was not a day  I could tolerate Whoopi. Right out of the gate she told Sara that her baby bump was big, Sara said she liked to keep it, "high and tight" and Whoopi looked into the camera to tell us she used to be "high and tight" but now she's "gotten old and spread" or something equally inappropriate/gross and I clicked off.    Besides, this weekend I cleaned out my linen closet leaving a pile of sheets, blankets, and an espresso colored knit afghan throw on the floor.  I swear Whoopi's outfit today looked just like that pile if there were a pair of fugly boots under it!

Sherri embarrassed herself all the time when she was on this show.  Remember that whole bathing suit on the beach thing?  Blech.       I believe the story though because so many [non-View-watching] celebrities have talked about Whoopi's generosity toward them in the past.   I think she kind of made it her thing - but it seems like only to other people "in the industry" as Raven would say.

Same here.  First day I tuned in all week and to have to hear the words "high and tight" coming out of her mouth was just too much for me; especially after watching her take what felt like 2 minutes to get herself untangled and situated in her chair.  The woman is just plain vile at this point.  Why she is paid the big bucks to be allowed to sit there at that table and act & talk like that is one of life's big mysteries.  And I am so glad I changed it before I was subjected to her lecturing the ladies on sex & relationships yet again.

On to Sherri -- I happened to catch her on Meredith today as she wiggled & jiggled her way to the chair.  My 2 favourite nuggets were (1) the reason why she isn't on The View much is because she is just SOOO busy working, what with her 3 movies, I mean, Ride Along 2, y'all! and her 2 cooking shows and (2) You can buy her wigs as Sally's now, girls, but I'm pretty sure she said they were only selling 2 styles and only at 19 (!) locations, lol!  This last part was mentioned very briefly and quickly but I swear that is what I heard.

I forgot to mention it--did anyone else notice Whoopi saying something odd during the Felicity Huffman intereview when they were talking about Alan Rickman? Huffman was saying her children thought she looked like Snape's wife with the dark hair and then she said, "You can't beat Alan Rickman." And then I can't remember Whoopi's response, but she said something along the lines of the right person being able to... Maybe just me assuming the worst, but I thought she was saying she could beat Rickman. Felicity Huffman looked weirded out. I only saw the interview because I love Huffman, even though I couldn't get into American Crime.

Sorry, Whoopi, you aren't as good as Alan Rickman, EGOT or no. Hell, you're not as good as Felicity Huffman to me, come to that.

What a big surprise.

Trump Blasts Whoopi & Joy for Disparaging Remarks

The ladies of "The View" criticized the Republican presidential front-runner on Thursday's show.

Trump responded by saying the show was in "free fall" and by trashing two of its hosts, Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar.

"Whoopi Goldberg is terrible. Very sad!" Trump exclaimed.

"Joy Behar, who was fired from her last show for lack of ratings, is even worse on [The View]," he added.

Bite your tongue, rcc...or maybe your fingers.  If Whoopi weren't an expert in all things--especially relationships, no publisher would have given her a book deal.  The View's producers wouldn't let her shill her book on the teevee.  Sorry to be harsh, but sometimes corrections are needed.

I would take Sara over Stacey, Molly, or Sherri, too, but not over the other contributors. It's mystifying why they would hire them and include them in the announcement for season 19, and then change their mind by November (around 3 months later is when Sunni/Sara started showing up again)?

Maybe it's because Joy coming back wasn't looking likely until the very last moment, and they were going to go with this crew along with Raven+Michelle for a lighthearted, fluff season. But with Joy there, they're focusing on politics more and they want to go with less comical, newsy panelists, which might be why they're turning towards to Sunni and Sarah (not that I like them). Why not go to Ana Navarro or Padma if that's the case? That would make more sense that adding more women to the roster.
