Meri Brown and her Wet Bar of Tears

I'd like to see what is on her 'application.'

Meri is seriously delusional about herself.  Sobyn pretends to like her, and she's just using her, like she uses everyone around her.

It does seem that people signed up; I got this today (I missed the deadline, which is probably why spots opened up):

******************************************************************

Hello Friend!

Thank you so much for your interest in Real Life Retreats with Meri Brown. Unfortunately the VIP you requested has been sold out. We do have standard accommodations available for you! For this, there would be the possibility of sharing a bedroom and a bathroom, but no bed sharing. All events will be at Lizzie’s Heritage Inn, but your sleeping arrangements will be at another location. This will be at a cost of $4500. Please respond to this email by end of day November 6, 2022 and let me know if you accept or decline. If you accept, I will follow up with an email that will include your payment link, due to be paid by November 8, 2022. Your $4500 payment will cover your attendance and all accommodations.

At this inaugural retreat, you can expect an incredible time with wonderful people, getting to know yourself better, eating the most delicious food, hanging out with me, and so much more! I'm so excited you're making this investment in yourself, and I'm looking forward to meeting and getting to know you!

If you are unable to attend, please respond asap. If I don't hear back from you by end of day Nov 6, I will assume you won't be attending. I appreciate your interest and look forward to retreating with you another time!

Looking forward to meeting you at the retreat!

Be Well!
Meri Brown

The application was the usual name/address/phone, why do you want to do this, what are you hobbies, what do you do for self-care, what do you hope to get out of this, plus a bunch of adjectives (all positive) where I was supposed to pick the ones that best described me.

$4,500 to participate in this event, but you don't get to stay here so you'll likely miss out on some of the things going on at the B&B.  Tough luck, friend!

Also - full payment by Nov. 8 for an event on the 17th?  Not even a partial payment, with the balance due the day before or something like that?  And no mention of refunds.

Honestly, though - for $4,500 I could get to know myself on a beach in Hawaii, eat delicious food, and NOT hang out with Meri Brown.  Decisions, decisions....

Is she trying to become a motivational speaker/life coach? How does handing thousands of your hard earned dollars over to her equate to getting to know yourself better or making an investment in yourself?

THIS!!! Who would want to go to Blandtown, Utah to some old, creaky house?!?

I’ll take Hawaii.

You should win a prize when this becomes a reality. I can't see that any applicants were real applicants. She's skewered on social media every day.  Who in the world would spend that kind of money to do this? I'm sure this event will end up being cancelled.

"For this, there would be the possibility of sharing a bedroom and a bathroom, but no bed sharing."

I cannot believe the concept of having total strangers share a bed crossed her mind at ALL, even if only long enough to assure people it wouldn't happen.

That's not a thing, I'm pretty sure.

What a greedy woman!

If this event actually happens (which I don't think it will) I'm trying to decide if she is greedy or just trying to make money.  I don't fault people for using their celebrity status to make money. I would do the same thing.

I do fault people for preying on vulnerable others like with MLM schemes.  But in this case, the writing is pretty clear. It's a stupid deal. It's really clear that the high price tag is ridiculous.

If there are people dumb enough to pay that much money for this... then...that's on them. And eh - kudos to meri for bringing home some bacon I guess.

So here is what I am trying to understand. On the B&B website she lists only 4 rooms to rent, I assume Jen is in one and are her kids in maybe another? So is she going to kick them out for this glorious weekend?  Assuming that, Meri would stay so that leaves 5 possible rooms to rent?

I've always wondered where Bonnie stayed and I've spoken to 3 different people who stayed at Lizzie's and even after staying at Lizzie's they couldn't figure out where Bonnie stayed  😐

IIRC our own @AZChristian stayed at Lizzie's and I think someone asked her where Bonnie stayed and I don't think she knew either.

I'm wondering if Bonnie stayed in the garden cottage, shed or whatever it is and maybe that's where Jenn stays with her kids?

@Dustbunny

You're right - I'm not sure where Bonnie stayed.  Maybe it was a secret for security reasons, IDK.

We didn't hate our night at the Inn.  Everyone there (staff and other guests) were nice.  But I'd only pay that much if they could guarantee that Hugh Jackman AND Robert Downey, Jr. would be sharing my room.  LOL.

I quit following this thread a couple of years ago, so I had no idea of this shindig.  Only got the notice because you tagged me.

I think she'll do some modified form of this, even if there are no paying guests. She might eat whatever costs just to have pix to post of her and her MLM "friends" (whom she'll characterize as guests) enjoying the "events."  We should know soon, based on her social media posts -- or lack thereof.  I don't think it would pay for her to declare that it's cancelled, if she wants to drum up future business.

I think Jenn moved out and is staying elsewhere, in or near Parowan.

  • Useful 3

I’m not seeing anything worth $4500-6000. “Two to five [unnamed!] daily activities”??? I could go to Sedona for “the healing and connective powers of this space through retreats that allow people to feel adventure, self-love, connection, empowerment, and inspiration” for less. And participate in activities directed by professionals.

I recall that there was also a caretaker’s cottage.  I would have thought that @azchristian would have seen it. Maybe it was torn down.

I can’t give her kudos for this — not only is she greedy, she’s bonkers. She thinks she’s as elevated as Tom Cruise or other A-list celebrity. She likely makes a ton of $$ via LuLaRot and I think it’s inflated her ego a bit too much. If she were asking $800 for a weekend, I might understand that. In this economy, asking that much money for a weekend with HER is incomprehensible.

I also think people would be very stupid to pay it and that it’s on them, but she’s still playing a part in ripping people off. It’s pure greed because what she’s offering probably isn’t worth the price tag.

Shes so full of herself there’s no room for anyone else in her life — which makes me wonder: is she doing this to show Kody she is a source for income after the show is over? he’s basically all but told Meri to “move on” — is she trying to raise her value so he “needs” her around?

I wonder if he’s watching her do this shit and shaking his head and wanting her gone even more. She’s the dingleberry that requires a hose to spray off because it won’t let go.

Any idiot who would shell out that kind of money for a 3 night stay with Meri should be committed. I know there are die hard fans out there, but Meri is a greedy biatch. How did she come up with this amount?  The itinerary is very cryptic and no details at all really to justify the cost in her delusional head. For 4500 you dont even know where you are staying.

The comments are a cross between "no one in their right mind would shell out that kind of money to hang with Meri Brown" and "Gee Meri I wish i could afford it I would totally love to hang with you You are sooooo pretty and such a boss Babe!"  Nothing I have skimmed talked of anyone making a commitment.

That is what I was wondering ... why six thousand?  Why not five?  Or four or three?  What did she base that fee on?  Is there a list some place where it says how much the company of various reality show "stars" is worth, like a blue book or something?

And why is there such a steep increase from $4,500 to $6,000 just to get to stay at the Inn?  It is three nights.  $500 a night for a room there?  Is that what she usually charges?

She's nuts.

So if you stay in the Inn you pay $6000 that's $2000 per night to share a room with a possible stranger? What in God's name can they be doing at this retreat or whatever she is calling to to justify blowing this kind of money?  Meri refers to this as "making an investment in yourself." No Meri it is making an investment in your bank account. The sad thing is I can see some desperate people charging this and going into debt for nothing.

Is this something that she is doing to hook more people into her MLM schemes?

There is a market for people with large wallets and a desire to do something extravagant.  They like being able to say, I met this tv celebrity.  I did this or that, etc,….it’s not about getting value for their money.  I guess Meri has some hardcore fans, if she felt she could tap into that kind of market.  Musical artists sometimes have a meet and greet that includes, drinks, food, photo and handshake with your idol.  Those VIP package deals, along with a ticket for the show, might run $2,000.-$5000.   Huge artists might charge even more, if they wanted to.  I’ll actually be surprised if she doesn’t sell out.  I wouldn’t pay those prices, but I would if I was a big fan.  I guess it’s a matter of priorities.

I going to guess Meri has gone to a few empowerment/self-help retreats. Maybe she went off those prices and threw in a 'celebrity fee'.

If it was a reasonable price, I might be tempted to sign up. I've never been to Utah, and it might be fun, or at least entertaining in a WTF kind of way. But not for $6,000, and it sounds like that is for a shared room.

According to this, all retreat participants are required to sign NDAs and not allowed to talk about the show or the sister wives. Interesting. Why wouldn't she want participants to leave there talking about their experience? And Sister Wives is how people know her, but you're not allowed to mention it? She's out of her mind.

It’s even insane for musical artists. I’ve met a couple, but they came to my establishment where there were poles. And dancers.

I just can’t imagine spending $6k on Meri “Boring” Brown. I *love* Harry Potter and wouldn’t spend that on one of them unless I was a millionaire and didn’t have to worry about money. I suppose it’s possible Meri could some of those or, as you mentioned, superfans.

People are irrantional. Guys emptied their wallets on us dancers so, I suppose it’s plausible someone will empty theirs for Meri, some flimsy “swag” and rice crispie treats. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’d be like, for $6k where’s my Gucci bag?!?

I would hardly call Lizzie's extravagant. While I do know that there are some fans out there that would shell out that kind of money for certain experiences, #BOSSBABEFILTERFACE is not one of them. I am still amazed that she has the gall to charge that kind of price and now you have to sign an NDA? WTF?

Round-trip flight to airport somewhere near Parowan: $600

Rent a car from airport to get to Parowan: ('cause you know Meri isn't picking you up): $250

Retreat cost: $6000 to share a room with a stranger at Lizzie's, $4500 if you want a hotel room with a stranger somewhere in southern Utah, location to be determined by how cheap Meri can hold a block of rooms (so think the No-Tell Motel or similar)

LLR leggings, Lizzie-branded tchotchkes and Rice Krispie treats: (which will surely be sold, not given as gifts and the pressure to purchase will be intense and unrelenting): $300

So, this trip is going to cost between roughly $7,200 and $5,800.  To spend maybe three full days with MERI BROWN.

Hahahahahahahahahahahaha

EDIT: therapy sessions after Parowan trip when you realize you just threw 6 grand in the toilet and flushed it: $1,000

#BOSSBABEFILTERFACE 🤣 😝 That’s a keeper.

You’re spot on, Lizzie’s is not “extravagant”. It’s just an old house without any luxury services. If Meri was having her weekend in Vegas at the MGM Skylofts, I could see the attraction. Below are some NYE Bruno Mars packages at MGM:

I could take a Christmas market river cruise on the Danube for less than what this miserable sad sack is going to provide. Honestly, I am not even sure why she has the B&B its pretty much closed all of November and December when there are ski slopes not too far away. I am sure that poor old Lizzie is rolling in her grave seeing her great grand daughter's Friday with Friends crap happening in the "parlor", you know the same one she claimed to have the separate entrance for her polygamous ancestors, oh yeah right, they weren't

I was curious and just looked on Lizzie’s page — only a few weekends here and there are open. Maybe it doesn’t get as much business during ski season as Meri thought.

I can’t speak for all skiers, but the fun part of skiing is also the chalet atmosphere — the lounges at night, the hot tubs, the bars and restaurants. Driving all the way back to boring Lizzie’s for some rice crispie treats doesn’t sound appealing. To be used as a last resort only.

@TurtlePower I completely agree. I would prefer a ski-in-ski-out property as opposed to the B&B 20 minutes away that does not have a hot tub, no comfy lounge to sip a cocktail, sorry stuffy and old parlor chairs have no appeal to me, no room service, no bar unless you BYOB and any breakfast item that may contain a rogue krispie treat. Oh and most importantly, an overly nasty, condescending inn keeper

She'll probably dump them all at some roadside overlook of the red rocks with a package of stale krispy treats and tell them to meditate until they "find themselves and their inner light".  Once they love themselves she (or the Parowan Prophet van) will come and pick them up.

That will be $6K please. Pay at the window.

Will this delusional woman ever get over herself?  Gawd.  Now she expects her 'guests' to sign an NDA?

Perhaps Meri will serve a Rice Krispy turkey like the one she schlepped over to Sobyn's mansion?

Well what really should have been written:

Through the overpriced homely feel of 1980's decor of LHI and the neighboring crumbling house, Meri will force you to purchase legging that have ripped crotches and a lovely mildew smell, on this retreat she will talk over you, bulldoze over you, show you how to filter your pitchurs and rilly help you build walls around you like a professional. Instead of inspirational Meri quotes like "look at the mountains", guests will now hear "look at the house across the street where you will stay for 4500"

But the difference to me is that a lot of the adult kids don’t like Meri and think she was a nasty bitch to them while those same kids absolutely adore Christine and love being around her so we really don’t need to listen to Kody’s opinion at all to figure out who was the loving, kind hearted “mom” and who wasn’t.

Merry had a kind of crush on Sol--remember when she asked if he could come with her on a road trip, and when she was told he couldn't and another kid was suggested, she was not interested?  Sol is the only one I ever noticed she gave a shit about.

She only wanted to spend time with Sol because he was the fruit of Kody's loins, and she was trying to get to Kody through Sol, as in - look at me, Kody!  I can love!  I'm fun!  Don't forget about meeeeee!  Lookit my hair, do you like it like this?  Kody??

It's a bit bunny-boiler, IMO...take the exalted child of the man you want, and he'll be forced to interact with you.

I recall Meri crying and pouting like a toddler when a heavily-pregnant Robyn told her no, you will not, in fact, be taking my kid on a 4-day road trip without me.  I loathe Robyn, but I don't blame her for that.  Robyn sacrificed Brianna instead.

I also hate that I remember these details so clearly.  It's taking up a lot of room in my brain.  No wonder I can never remember where I put my phone.

I just had a couple of thoughts for additions to Lizzie's...

Does anyone here remember pay toilets?  They used to be in bus depots and the like in the 70's.  Meri, why don't you install a couple of those, to fleece your customers even more?

Failing that, she will probably add each toilet flush and shower to the final bill.

No need to thank me, Meri.  I don't even like Rice Krispie treats.
