I actually do think RoHo and RH have chemistry. I just think Franco's a mess.

RoHo should have been cast as Steven Lars and none of this Franco mess was needed.

I was disturbed when JZ tried to laugh with Felicia.  She looked like a braying donkey cartoon, and she used to be so uniquely beautiful.

Well, she's kept the "unique" part.

I don't know where the line of appropriateness is here, so I don't say a lot of what comes to mind about Bobbie when she starts getting scenes. I'll just say I find JZ distracting, and I can't enjoy her in scenes anymore, and it seems to me that even if some things are irreversible, it could be a little better than this. My God, the hair color all by itself. Under those lights, on camera, it's assaultive.

That really was Stephen A. Smith as Brick, huh? I was watching it and thought, "That guy looks like ESPN 'fake angry black man' commentator Stephen A. Smith." (He screams all the time and goes into a rage about everything, and people who know him in real life have said it's a gimmick. A tiresome one.) Then when I read the posts here, it came back to me that I had read about him having a recurring role. It's never "recurred" at any time I have been watching. I thought he did a pretty good job of blending into this show's world and being another jerk who facilitates Sonny.  I believed him as a real actor, at least.

I understand not speaking ill of the dead, only wishing to remember a dead person's good qualities. I'm not expecting other characters to say of Morgan, "All right, true, he was a stupid asshole with bad hair, but he didn't deserve to die that young." But if I had only started watching in the last few months, I would have a very different picture of Morgan from any version of Morgan shown in the last five years. Even Brick thought he was a wonderful kid? Did Brick ever meet the Bry-Dawg version? How, when, and why did these interactions take place?

The Liz/Franco sex scene was all wrong. I'm not talking about whether the characters should be in a relationship, or whether the actors have chemistry, or whether it's the appropriate point in the relationship for the characters to have sex, I just mean the scene. It was all bad decisions. Becky looked especially uncomfortable in that shot where she was lying supine and looking up at Roger/Franco in preparation. She looked as if about to undergo an exam. The scene played like the staging was off, the lighting was off, and the performers were not into it, and the director hoped it could be salvaged in editing with a lot of fades -- pulling out the "best" parts and not lingering on anything too long. C-minus.

Probably the most notorious GH love scene of the 21st century was That One between Tyler and Natalia. They had many, but you know That One if you were watching back then. The one with the yellow/gold lighting, and all the ear licking, and Tyler peering over Natalia's knees (only the top half of his face visible) with an "I'm hunting wabbit" look. Anyone who wasn't into Nem found it over the top, and it was mocked mercilessly, and people talked about wanting to bleach their eyes...but comparing that to this (Franco/Liz), there's no denying the Nem actors really went for it. They looked like two people who really, really wanted to have sex with each other. In fact, they did such a good job of looking like that that I felt I should absent myself. This, on the other hand, was decidedly chilly.

Edit: Comment on the lameness of Maxie/Tree. Jordan was asking André how "the wedding" she missed was. I seriously thought she was talking about the off-screen wedding of some people André knows. I could not remember there being a wedding recently. Even though it took up about a week of shows, and there was a big fight, and hunchback revelations, and a fall into a cake. I remembered all of that stuff, but not the actual reason those people were in the same room. Maxie/Tree really disappear.

I don't usually spend time thinking about the bathing habits of soap characters, but watching that scene with Franco and Liz, I couldn't help it. I mean the guy went from being locked in a dog cage, to being assaulted in an alley, then to a dirty storage, unit, and a stint at the hospital. He left the hospital to almost strangle Tom's brother, and then popped back in for more medical care, and finally settles in at Liz's place. Liz made some stupid reference to "a sponge bath from Felix" during one of their *cough* loving bedside hospital scenes, but hey, any time for a shower amidst all that activity?  Maybe the uncomfortable look on BH's face was a reaction to Franco's stank. Dude, take a bath! And get a haircut already!

I've noticed Bobbie's raw hair color too--so improbable--and the fabrics and super-tight fit that she wears, especially over her pendulous breasts (they keep moving after she stops, sometimes!). Friday, her blouse was even decorated with two shiny tassels--gold or silver--that danced around her chest when she moved. Could the brassy hair and suggestive outfits be Wardrobe's snark of Bobbie's fashion sense from the stripper/street-walking days?

Regarding line of appropriateness - I will call out things that the actors choose to do to themselves.  JZ is a nightmare.  Her face has gone into puppetry mode.  And I've been unable to enjoy a Monica scene in years.  I've said it before, but she looks like one of the original chimps in Planet of the Apes.  They've done this to themselves, and frankly, continuing to put them on air encourages younger actresses to explore this route as they age.

Sex scenes - I haven't enjoyed a sex scene on this show since Carly and Todd.  I will admit I re-wound and watched it again.  It was two vets doing their job, IMO.  It was believable and they had great chemistry.  I thought it was kind of hot.  I thought BH was doing a great job, but I kind of FF'd the scene a little because I felt sorry for her.  She must know how much her character is slammed for this SL.  But I'm picky about love scenes - I remember Eden and Cruz.

I don't mind the Morgan martyring, to be honest.  If you watch any Dateline, 48 Hours, 20/20 episode, you will see all who die tragically are remembered as saints.  All dead women were BEE-UTE-IF-FULL, and all the men were easy going, fun loving, and popular.  I don't expect family members to express relief that Morgan was blown up, and I don't expect friends of the family to say Morgan was a major asshole.  He was a sweet kid, and that's what they're most likely remembering.  Frankly, I would be more disturbed if everyone had quickly moved on and never again mentioned Morgan.  I had a very disturbed cousin commit suicide, and his parents and siblings were greatly upset for years.  And not one of us said - well he was a messed up asshole, count your blessings he's gone.

I thought the Brick character was kind of lame.  But now that I know a non-actor played the role, it's kind of funny.  He wasn't bad.

I don't expect anyone to tell Sonny or Carly he was an jerk. But Dillon can say something to Ned about how frustrating it is for Kiki to wax rhapsodic about Morgan was he was a jerk. As it is it feels like the show wants us to forget Morgan was unpleasant.

The Liz/Franco sex scene didn't seem bad. I didn't watch all of it but the close-ups seemed kinda weird, I don't know. If I were a fan though I'd be fine with it.

I had to check it out. And yes, besides our own Nelle Hayes of GH on Facebook, several real people with that name have FB accounts. It would have been more accurate for Flea to say she had found several people by that name but none of them was the Nelle they know. That's not unusual; plenty of folks in my life don't have FB accounts because they don't have time for it.

Doesn't Liv seem like Ava 2.0? Same hair and haircut, voluptuous figure, sassy attitude, interest in art and antiques, and fondness for alcohol (Liv was already slurping a big glass of red wine when she got home and was talking to Julian on the phone.) Do the writers want to try to reboot original recipe Ava without the Corinthos history? Is the Ava character on her way out the door, with Liv as a new direction?

Morgan was a douche. There's nothing wrong with recognizing that. The way everyone talks about Morgan you'd never know he was a messed-up, volatile kid—a lot of which had zero to do with his bipolar diagnosis.

Now, after time and a recast, they want to turn JaSam into this Brady Bunch family unit. And while some of it *may* be in-character for Sam (she always wanted a family, yes, but I think that was also about having a mother/father/siblings, as well), it becomes boring, especially when you give a character everything they wanted. They've done that with Sam and Jason. So what's next for the characters? Just dealing with other people's problems?

How about a story looking into what Jason was doing for all those months he was missing?  Maybe he starts having all these weird memories come back and he and Sam go off to investigate them... But no.  That might actually be interesting, and Jelly seems determined to make this couple as completely boring as humanly possible.

It's a sad state of affairs when a freaking Captain America movie can do a brainwashing story better than a soap opera.

Nurse Ratchet was too busy scheming to keep Jason in her bed to ask questions about what happened to her disturbed child during the four years he was dead. Too bad she'll play low rent Nancy Drew for her rapist serial killer boyfriend but not for her zombie son.

A story about what happened to Jake would have to, in small way, be about Liz.  And we all know that no story is ever allowed to be about Liz, not even one where her rapist returns to town!

A story about Liz actually being about Liz? Now that's crazy talk!  Jake was held by Helena for years. Helena left Liz a creepy cryptic child's book about his time in her care. Jake had major emotional and behavioral issues. Do we try to find out about this shit? Nope. Let Jake have art therapy with an untrained therapist---who is also a "reformed" former serial killer washed out artist, be hit by another car, have surgery, get a recast and shazaam! he is fixed! Jason was also held for years by Helena.  Does he try to figure out with the hell happened to himself and Robin? Nope. Who the hell is buried in Jake Spencer's gave? Nobody has bother to check that shit out either. Really, who the fuck did Liza and Lucky bury? Shouldn't a police force be interested in looking into this?

Liz has a back from the dead son, stolen by Helena, her last best friend murdered, gained an unwanted and unnecessary stupid half sister, almost died at the hand of a serial killer, lost her job with the hospital closing for a time, and then had her rapist released from prison. But hey, not one of those stories should really involve Liz. And they sure as shit shouldn't be about her. They should all be about Jason, HeyChel and most of all Franco!

Really. I hate this show soooo much most days it seems.

Honestly, at this point it's just plot point nonsense that Charlotte *still* so obviously doesn't like Lulu. Lulu hasn't actually done anything wrong in Charlotte's presence except the whole bio-mom admission thing, and Charlotte clearly didn't like her before that, so all I can infer is that Valentin/Nina must be influencing her somehow.

  • Love 4

Why would Charlotte like her? Lulu keeps forcing herself into Charlotte's orbit. Her desperation is pretty obvious, and kids pick up on that sort of thing even if they can't articulate it. It's entirely possible Nina and/or Valentin are influencing Charlotte, but it's also entirely possible Charlotte doesn't want anything to do with the lady with the crazy eyes because  Lulu freaks her out.

JZ really needs to tone down her hair color and lay off the plastic surgery and botox.  A few years ago during the Carly/Franco Halloween non-wedding Mr. Moving noticed that her hair and said she was competing with the Jack-O-Lanterns to see who could be the most orange.

Who do I feel sorriest for today?

A) Aiden, for walking in on Liz/Franco afterglow

B) Felicia, for having to feign interest in Nelle's boring ass

C) Lucas, who suspects his husband is involved in shady shit

D) Sonny, who wanted to fall through the floor when Carly sent Nelle to his bedroom

E) Myself, for watching this boring mess of an episode

Just a quick reminder - the last time Lucas and Brad shared scenes before today was at their wedding, which aired June 13th, 2016.

And now with Lucas rumbling Brad's blackmailing (and again, people who don't share credit for shared work and/or are drug addicts kinda deserve to get blackmailed) and Olivia threatening Lucas, I'm wondering how many more scenes they'll share at all.

I hate Sonny with the heat of a thousand suns and I'm not a fan of MBs but every now and again he does something that I appreciate and enjoy and the look on Sonny's face when Nelle showed up and Carly sent her up to the bedroom was priceless.  Well done MB!

Uh oh, I feel bad for Ava, because Dumb and Dumber are going to assume that the blonde "sister" with Julian is her and they're going to go after her.

Olivia is no match for Ava - at least actress chops-wise. YMMV.  Why exactly did they feel the need to bring back another mobstress?  That focus group that didn't mind resurrecting Duke must have been drinking heavily the night before their session.  I barely remember her on her first stint.  I'm really missing Robert Scorpio these days.

Speaking of, Lucky worked on the SERIAL KILLER case. He must've read through dozens of files on the murders and he was the one who found Aiden when the murderhobo kidnapped him. Lucky doesn't have any reaction to this? Really?

Also? Maybe Liz could try dating a guy who can afford to pay rent next time?

Why did Michael look like he was wearing pink lip gloss? Also, I am not unopposed to trying out Michael/Hayden.

Carly is most likable when she's with Bobbie/Lucas/Michael. They have a nice chemistry together. Also, hooray for bitchy Carly. Can't believe I just said that. "Look at how [Hayden] is strutting around the hospital like she owns the place." Once in a while the writers write Carly correctly. Of course she caved in in a minute, because no one can hate each other for more than a moment. Unless it's Bobbie and Nelle I suppose.

Julian: what do you want, Liv?

Cam needs to tell Aiden about walking in on Nurse Liez Ratchet and her rapist serial killer boyfriend in the aftermath of having sex. Then Aiden needs to call child protective services.

If I were Hayden I would hold a huge hospital gala - making sure to invite every rich person in the state - then guilt all of them into writing fat checks.

I hope Felicia is getting paid for having to deal with Nelly.

In other news, I feel like what should be a Quartermaine story is going to be a Rebecca Budig story.  Why is she trying to save the hospital, why is she the one getting Michael on the board?  That should be Tracy and/or Monica up in there.
