I don't think Carly was chem tested with Dr. Michael Easton for a possible romance, but since he's a major(ish) male character, he has scenes with her. Like it's some sort of shorthand to establish him. Look! Carly likes him, so he has to be a good guy. (Or the opposite, depending on the character.) Maybe they'd have a fling or something, but at this point, I think Carly and Sonny are the anchor couple, as gross as that is.
