S16.E01: Finale/Wrap-Up Movie

I suppose most of what we've got to say for a while will be spoilers (so use tags) and speculation (use tags ONLY if it refers directly to known spoilers).

Casting information, I believe, is NOT typically regarded as spoilers (the board admins can correct me on this if I am wrong here).

Because we wuuuv Lady Heather.

I'm not surprised about Eads. His story was wrapped up and the way they handled Nick the last few seasons I bet all he'd've done was be in one scene and maybe say hi to Grissom.

Hell, maybe Gil married her. His entire marriage & divorce from Sarah took place offsceen, why not do that again!?

Though with all these guest stars, I do start to wonder if they'll be any time for the crime solving. But who cares about that?

Lebanna, that would be a much more interesting proposition than making her the second Mrs Grissom. It's not like they'd be short of suspects if she was the victim (presumably we'd get a lot of flashbacks if that was the case, since I doubt they'd get Melinda Clark back just to play a corpse). And yes, it would provide a good reason for Gil to return to Vegas.

Looking at those photos makes me happy....Grissom is back y'all!  Haven't watched this show since the kiss in the jungle, except for The Two Mrs Grissom's.  He made the show for me.

Anyway, looking at some of the pics I think it's safe to say LH is either the victim or the accused in a murder.

I hope it's the victim, haha.  GSR 4 evah!  (being silly but not too far off)

I was trying to work out who you don't see alive in the trailer (my theory was Lady Heather, but unless she's a ghost, she's up and at 'em) - I think it's between Doc Robins and Brass for the victim that brings them all back together. I'd personally probably guess Brass.

Not Brass --- noooooooooo !!!!!!!!!

Yes, actually I'd forgotten Finn even existed! That would be much better than something happening to Brass. And it's been confirmed that Catherine comes back because her casino gets blown up, so she could rope in Grissom as well - as otherwise I can't imagine why Grissom would give a damn about Finn.

I'm looking forward to this.

I haven't watched regularly in years, but I'm definitely setting the DVR for the series finale. I'm bummed Nick won't be back, but I get the impression that George Eads was not happy in the final years (and the writers did not know what to do with Nick at all).

Can someone remind me how Brass and Lady Heather were left? I can't remember how either ended up.

As far as I recall, Brass was going off to deal with his daughter (who was under arrest when we last saw her) and Lady Heather had given away all her money to be a better mother to her daughter, but then she was murdered. So basically, daughter issues and tragedy all round!

Having watched the preview for the series finale, I found it interesting that Nick/George is all over the clips.  Its disappointing that he won't be there for the finale.  I'm torn about watching it.  I've missed Grissom over the years and want to see him and how things will end up.  On the other hand I really don't want to see anything having to do with Sara and Grissom getting back together.

Trey Didn't Lady Heather murder, or made a darned good try at murdering, the man who killed her daughter?

If you're thinking of the guy who she had tied to a car and was trying to whip to death, then she certainly didn't kill him, since Gil got there in time ("I'm telling you to stop"). Since she probably plead guilty (there were like 50 cops who saw her do it!), given it was a while back (since Gil was still around) and with a vaguely sympathetic judge (the guy had killed her daughter, after all) it's probably fairly reasonable for her to have already completed her time. Since Complete Monsters seem to be let out in a couple of years in Vegas, maybe sympathetic convicts do too!

Unpopular opinion i know, but i'm glad Gil and Sara got back together. :-)

And i would rather watch paint dry than CSI Cyber.

I know a lot of people dislike Sara but she was always a favorite of mine so I was happy to see her have a happy ending, with or without Gil but it is nicer that they ended up back together.

I have no interest in Cyber, it could be the cast but then again I never liked any of the spinoffs.

I'm glad Grissom and Sara ended up back together...was always a shipper for those two.  I haven't watched it since he left, and tonight assured me I made the right decision.  He's the only one on the show whose acting is strong enough to push through that crappy writing.  I can't imagine what fresh hell the last few years have been without him.

So I never was a regular CSI viewer, but I figured I'd tune in because it's the end of an era.

What the hell did I just watch? How exactly did the bomber think any of that was going to help him get with Lady Heather? Why was there a fingerprint embedded in the video? If he really wanted to get to Grissom, why didn't he just...get to Grissom? It's not like it was that hard to locate him. Why did he send a synthetic cadaver with a very particular kind of bee embedded inside it? Are we supposed to believe he's as good an entomologist as Grissom is? Why was Lady Heather being deliberately antagonistic? Did they ever explain why there are bucketloads of C4 in her basement? Somehow, I don't think there's actually a flower which can do that to people.

Aaaargh. This makes my brain hurt. I'm going to stop now.

They literally sailed off into the sunset together.  And I was quite happy that the entire two hours were very Grissom-centric.

Best part of the episode -- confirmation that Finn is dead.

I figured that since they had Grissom's boat in the Port of San Diego that they might actually have snuck in a Nick Stokes cameo, but nope.

What?!!!

My husband, near the end, suggested the culprit was Nick. "He had that Rage Diary. ::smirk::" I told him only the TWOPers would appreciate that ending. ( He never follows reports on casting, so he had no idea Nick was/wasn't in.)

Shut up, Catherine "Conflict of Interest" Willows. Let Lindsey be a CSI without you helicoptering, while I'm at it.  ( Lindsey seems to have her mom's nosy gene. Poor CSI- LV.)

Gil looked good and got to handle "bugs"!

While I am glad Sara and Gil are together, there is no law that says they can't visit the other one. DH was "why is she giving up her life to go off with him?"  I said," We don't know she did." DH counters with "It's what we're supposed to take away."  I still don't fully believe it. Sara could have delayed her official first day?  Okay, that sounds a bit weak to my own ears, but Gil and Sara were so much about being honest. It was a lovely scene to end on, as the Ismael passed that point. The sky was beautiful, too.

I just... it wasn't the worst episode of the series, but I guess I was hoping for a little something else too.

I was thinking that maybe they could at least had a reference to him, especially with Conrad getting the cop to release him.

So of all the characters the one to get the final word is...Lindsey. Speaking of Lindsey, that whole thing with Grissom not recognizing her, was that supposed to be some kind of inside joke about her being a differnt actor than the last time we saw her?

It was okay. It felt a little disjointed, especially in the first half. I wish we had seen more of Brass, and even a little more of the current cast (probably an unpopular opinion). That said, I did like that we got a heavy dose of Grissom, and I was glad to see him and Sara back together, although I too don't want to think too hard about the idea of her giving up the head of the CSI lab job to go off with him.

DB will be miles ahead of any character on Cyber the moment he steps on set. That's still not enough to get me to watch, though.

As someone who was never a huge fan of Grissom & hated the Sara & Grissom love story, that was an extremely disappointing finale.

I felt bad for all the current regular actors who were pushed to the side & given a handful of lines each, so we could see the Sara & Grissom show.

I thought Sara already realized that a life of following Grissom around was unsatisfying?  She thinks it'll work out better this time?

I just wish it hadn't focused so much on Grissom and Sara's relationship.  They threw DB and the Willows ladies a bone, but everybody else was less than an afterthought.  Poor Brass, a character with such a terribly eventful life and he's an ignominious footnote in the finale.

This was outstandingly boring.

Who cares about Sara and Grissom?

The case was nonsensical and we had no clue DB was leaving until he was packing up. Well I mean I saw a blurb but it wasn't mentioned. Ok it was obliquely: Sara going for his job.

So Grissom became some kind of Paul Watson/Sea Shepherd/Whale Wars guy?  And Sara is just going to sail off with him to do that?  That's... something.  I was never a fan of their relationship but since they went there, I didn't understand why it couldn't be two introverts who are passionate about their professions who meet up on occasion and that works for them... off-screen.  Angsting it up was just ridiculous and this "wrap-up" didn't much help.  I guess he's just always going to be a whale singing in the wrong decibel and she's going to have to hope to figure out what he's thinking through secondhand videos.  Maybe they'll run into the giant angry squid from "The Beast" and that will be the end of that.

The face scramble fingerprint was so ridiculous.  I guess the guy wanted to be caught so he could threaten to blow up Grissom (although not sure how he planned to do anything to Grissom with his unattached handle thing), but what kind of ID hiding device would even offer the option to use your own fingerprint?

I'm really bitter we didn't get to see Brass in the hospital or know what was up with Ellie or any of that.  I had utterly forgotten Finn was hurt (died?), but that didn't exactly crush me.  Unlike the crushed dreams of D.B.'s wife, who wanted to live in the perfect house in Seattle and instead she's going to be stuck in D.C., where one mopes at the Lincoln Memorial.  But hey, Catherine is randomly picking up some new kids, so there's that.  Sigh.

Sara and Gil riding off into the sunset- how cliche and boring. They had the most ridiculous relationship- Gil had more chemistry with Lady Heathet in every scene than the whole series with Sara. Catherine was unbelievable nosing her way into the case and we're supposed to believe she's FBI? Sara as a director? Where Is Her objectivity? A disappointment as a finale. The show really did "jump the shark" for me.

I haven't watched this show in years and the finale reminded me of why I stopped.  I think the implausible storylines are far worse than the bad dialogue and acting.  The Las Vegas CSIs do it ALL, don't they?  Not only are they the bomb squad and detectives, but they are called upon to impart to children that their mother has been killed in a bombing that has become a national news story.  There are no other experts in Las Vegas.  In fact, it appears that Catherine will be called upon to mother these poor, very beautiful little girls.  Who was taking care of them while there mother was at work, by the way?  They have no one in their lives.  Of course I was also distracted by how much older all the actors looked.  They can't help that, but it does seem that some of them have tried!

"Where did she come from?"

"My vagina."

Who wrote this dreck?

I had more trouble with that exchange than I did with anything else in the finale.  Awful!

I've never liked the stone-faced Lady Heather, and I'm very grateful that Grissom didn't end up with her.  It was fitting to me that the finale was mostly about Grissom.  I doubt if I'm the only person who would not have tuned in had Grissom not returned.

When Grissom left the first time, he went to Sara, so I liked that Sara went to him this time.  I thought the scene where Sara and Gil were waiting for the bees to return was very sweet and subtle, and planted the idea that they could still be happy together.

The case itself was full of "WTH" moments, already mentioned above by other posters.

As a less-than-casual Mothership watcher, this was a mixed bag.  Having one last super-crazy to play the show out was fitting, but in hindsight his motivation was iffy; if he really was doing it all to hurt Grissom (wherever he was from his point of view, since he'd been gone for a couple of years) because he "took Lady Heather away from him," and he somehow had access to both mind-control plants and enough explosives to level several buildings, why go after random people as opposed to at least going after the Lab or someone connected to it or Grissom?  Even as a thinly veiled attempt to frame Heather?  And the fingerprint swirl...riiiight.

And I definitely agree with the sentiment that, by and large, everybody that wasn't Catherine or Sara or Grissom (and then D.B.) was kind of shafted.  D.B. at least is going off to another show, but the rest...particularly Brass?  Shafted, no lube.  On the other hand, nobody got killed either...so, halfsies?

Having said that, and even with some of the clunkier dialogue about it: I actually rather liked that, in the end, Lady Heather simply was the catalyst for GSR's reunion--largely just by being there.  That, the show kinda got right; perhaps filtered through a little too much jealous Sara, but okay fine.  I'm still debating if she actually left her new job, though, since there were no suitcases involved...but I'm not sure if the show wanted us to think too hard about that.

I thought it was just okay. I was really glad to see Grissom back, the show hasn't been the same without him. I never cared that much about the S/G relationship, but I am sort of glad that they worked things out.

While I didn't need closure on every single person in the lab, how come we got nothing when it came to Greg? He was the last original cast member ( or close to it) all we got was a post bomb defusal hug... Very disappointing.

The case was pretty meh.... I knew who the bad guy was as soon as I recognized Doug Hutchinson... You don't hire that creeper for just one scene. Lady heather came back too many times...

I'm still going to miss CSI, but more for what it used to be... Still don't care about any of the spinoffs.

Oh and at least this one didn't get delayed or postponed by football for once... I guess that's something.

I think she really left since they went through that whole thing with Catherine wanting the job so she could look after those two little girls - so we would know the Las Vegas crime lab would be in good hands.

And Sara had a bag with her, probably all she needed on a boat.

I am glad Sara and Grissom ended up together again.  I always liked them both, separately or together.

I thought they did okay by Brass since he wasn't even on the show last season.  He seemed fine, working for Catherine at her casino and with his head on straight which is more than could be said for him when we last saw him.  I was afraid he was going to be killed at the beginning in the explosion so I was glad he survived that and was only injured in the car explosion.  It would have been nice to get an update on him though.

The plot was as ridiculous and OTT as  CSI plots always were (how did he get the corpse of Lady Heather's daughter's killer?) but I still enjoyed it.  Would have liked more wrap-up with the rest of the cast but I guess we assume they just go along as always.
