7 Little Johnstons - General Discussion

Its all about Marcia Marcia Marcia Liz and Brice. Why was she the only girl to match she devil Amber with the denim for the photo shoot? This episode you really see the bossy, micromanager Amber is. I have to say that both of the girls houses are quite cute and decorated nicely. I do actually like how the Johnstons house is decorated. It does make me sad that Anna does not seem to be in college anymore, hopefully she can continue even if its part time to get her degree. Liz was doing so well on her healthy living, but looks like that was completely blown.

It's odd to me that all THREE kids are supposedly renting huge houses to live in alone!  I wonder if, now being adults, they aren't also getting TLC paychecks and so are actually buying them with their future spouses/families in mind.  Are there no small apartments for single young adults to rent in rural GA? I doubt it...

As for Amber, she's worse than ever.  I honestly suspect a midlife crisis, menopause, major personality disorders, is evil, or a combination of all three. Love how she especially plays the martyred, long-suffering sacrificing mother for the producers re: Anna, whom she emotionally abuses ceaselessly.  But the camera sees all...  Lord, is that woman BOSSY.

I hope Anna pursues her college degree in EARLY childhood education, as well, so she can one day own her own preschool and prosper (it'll be difficult for her now; after all, she's not Wonder Woman like her sister), but at least she's in a job she truly loves. Unfortunately, she's mainly moving out in hopes of finally winning the love and approval of her mother.

RUN, ANNA, RUN!!!

I was wondering the same thing. Why are they all renting houses instead of just an apartment?? However, Liz and Anna's places were very nicely decorated. Seems like the older kids can't wait to get away from the parents. On another note, did they ever say what happened with Amber's skin cancer scare. Trent was telling her to make an appointment right away and she  was saying that she could wait a few months b/c she does so much around the house. huh? Three of the kids are adults and the other two are teenagers. Can't they make their own meals and clean up and such?

"The cancer scare" turned out to be nothing... Amber was just playing that up for drama and, again, Martyred Mother points.  Emma and Alex are obviously her favorites, so she probably waits on them hand and foot but, yes, at 16, they're old enough to pick up after themselves/microwave some snacks and no doubt do.  Also, Amber is a "schoolteacher"?  I thought she helped out in an elementary school computer lab.  The whole Trent quitting his secure state job with benefits of several decades to sell used cars (I can't imagine anyone waiting for them to switch out pedals every time they have to move a car, and neither one of them can drive a stick) is also very sketchy!  Maybe he retired and took his pension, and this is just another story line...  Lord knows they need them!

I started watching the new season after being AWOL for a couple of seasons.  I think the last time I watched was when that guy broke up with Liz and she was heart-broken.

I don't know why I thought Liz was older.  She's only 19 and renting a house and going to school part-time??!!  She's a much more mature 19 than I was at that age.

Anna has really blossomed.  I was worried about her for a long time.  Last time I saw her she was going through a rebellious stage.  I've always gotten the feeling that Amber "picked on" Anna a lot.  It was like Anna couldn't do anything right.  Looks like she in a good place now and I'm glad.

Jonah - well...it appears he dropped out of college unless I'm missing something.  And he has a girlfriend!!!  Wow, now that surprises me.  It's a long distance relationship, but it looks like they're working through it.  Jonah's forehead looks like it's scrunched up so when he smiles he looks odd.  He looks like his dad but Trent's facial structure is more evenly spaced.

I'll be honest, I could never stand Alex.  That little boy is insufferable and spoiled rotten.  I don't like saying that about a kid, but he is.  I couldn't tolerate him when he was younger and he's only gotten worse.  But his mom loves him and that's what counts.

I love Anna more and more. I especially love that she hasn’t let Trent and Amber break her spirit.

I’ll never understand their short-sightedness and forcing their kids out before they’re done with their education. I totally get not enabling kids who aren’t helping themselves, but Anna and Elizabeth, and then later, Jonah have been working their way to adulthood. I’ve been happy as a parent to be able to give my kids a margin so they can take deliberate steps to get off on the right foot to move out.

Cruiser is just ADORABLE!!!

I'm worried about him.  He's obviously depressed now, sitting in an empty house all alone at least eight hours a day after being used to a big, busy family, another dog to play with, and a huge property to roam free on!  He should stay there during the day, but Amber has made it clear she's not an animal person, so that's one less mouth to feed as far as she's concerned.  I still say the kids are BUYING these houses with the TLC money.  Maybe they needed full-time jobs first in order to qualify for mortgages.

I will never understand why Trent and Amber are so dead set on having the older kids move out while they're still college age. If they've behaved like Jonah, okay, that's one thing, he definitely needs to grow up, but, Elizabeth and Anna are ambitious, hard-working, and responsible. They have the rest of their lives to worry about mortgage payments, bills, and saving money. They've raised kids with good heads on their shoulders. What's the rush?

Maybe because they became parents so young?

I'm thinking they want to get far away from their parents.  And I don't blame them one bit....😄

The rent and bills are sooo worth it....but that's just MO

Jonah seems angry.  My first season so I'm trying to catch up!

I'm thinking the parent's want them to buy small houses rather than sinking money in fancy apartments.  Something to be said for that if they have the moolah to cover everything that comes with owning!

Why would they be thinking of getting more kids in if they are trying to get their own out?

First thought would be to keep the show going.  I do hope the girls have an alarm system and window locks. When I was doing a lot of traveling most decent hotels would never put single female travelers in a ground floor hotel room for safety. When I moved out, my dad made sure that my 1st apartment was at least on the 2nd floor.

Nana and Poppy are old.  Poppy has dementia and is in a wheel chair.

My question:  Why aren't the 7 little Johnston's making the 1 hour drive for Father's Day instead of the other way around?

Exactly. Why can't the family coordinate a dinner and take it to their parents to celebrate the day? Are they all really that inflexible, or is it just more created for TV drama?

That is what i wanted to know..they need to visit Trent's disabled father! Amber lets Trent talk this year I see. In the past she always talked over him. Not that he has anything I really want to hear anyway. Liz is so large, and she knows everything about everything just like her parents. Jonas seems more polite this year?

  • Love 3

Trent was trying to make the case that Nana didn't want them all descending upon her, but when confronted with that story, she denied it, saying, "As long as you bring everything and do everything!" which is exactly what they could and should do.  I suspect it's Amber who didn't want to go (she immediately started rambling about spending quality time with the older kids [whom she's so anxious to kick out of the house]; I couldn't quite follow it) and Trent was just covering for her, as usual.

The reason she let him talk without interruption about leaving his job is because he's finally saying what she wants him to say; she's been trying to get him to leave his job for years!  I suspect he NOW qualifies for his pension and is just retiring, although they'll make it look like he "quit" for the drama, storyline, and ratings.  If he's a director of landscaping, he IS a "white collar" employee and isn't personally out there digging the ditches anymore.

Also, showing Anna mowing the lawn confirms in my mind that the kids are actually buying these houses with their TLC money; most landlords either do that themselves or hire it out, adding the cost onto the rent, not wishing for the liability involved in having their tenants operate potentially dangerous machinery on their premises.

I had to laugh at Amber recently saying to Trent about the kids  “we’ve gotta keep close to the kids as they move into adulthood and have their own lives “……🤔🤔

them why the hell Is she so eager to boot the 3 older ones out of the house while they’re still young ?  I know the kids  may get $$$ from being on the show but what’s the rush Amber?     She’s such a sourpuss  the kids probably want to leave just as much as she wants them gone .

She said that in response to Trent saying they should travel to Nana's and Poppy's for all future holidays, like the older kids couldn't make it ("work" seems to be the standard excuse these days).  She'll probably put the kabosh on that plan, too!  Amber might actually be jealous of Trent's close relationship with his parents since her own biological father rejected her not once, but twice.  Maybe that's her "issue"...  She obviously has AT LEAST one!

Why do they always make everything a competition?

Of course Liz wins the dinner award with her dry looking lasagne and bag o' salad. Anna gets "most interesting". WTF does that even mean?

I love the Anna/Emma relationship. Liz can stay up Ambers butt since she's just like her. I can picture her marrying that boyfriend and being the boss of his life. Uggh, poor guy.

The animal situation really bothers me.   I work in rescue and there is no way a then 19 year old would be able to adopt a puppy (from a rescue or reputable place), so the parents had to know and that scene was scripted.    Then its "lets pass the kitten around".     I hope that when Liz is "done with the puppy/dog"  Amber and Trent  will take it in, or find another good home for it.   I have seen too many animals returned because "owner is moving", or "I no longer have time".

Amber and Trent are no friends of animals, as we've seen in past episodes.  The pilot showed them with two or three "dwarf dogs" (Daschsunds) who then mysteriously vanished and were replaced by the big Lab and some other dog, and then a Frenchi who "didn't transition well" when they moved and so also mysteriously disappeared and then, oh yeah, there was a cat in there somewhere who broke a leg and whom Amber had euthanized rather than pay for its surgery and only Anna cried for it...

IF Liz were truly renting (but I suspect she bought), the landlord might have something to say about this development, too.  And what in the world is that poor puppy supposed to do while the overachiever is working full-time, going to school full-time, running her online business full-time, and presumably keeping her boyfriend/future henpecked husband happy full-time plus still participating in this shite show full-time?  At least Anna understands and empathizes with poor Cruiser's boredom and loneliness; hopefully he and the kitten will become fast friends!

Speaking of boredom, are these parents 12 years old with all that TikTok crap?

I'm beginning to think Amber has a serious online shopping addiction.  Drinking game: every time she says "I ordered..." during an episode.  Future "Hoarders" episode?  The roaches were murdered after filming.

Oh, and fake home invasion?  Not funny!  Those poor animals were traumatized.

But hilarious that Liz challenged everyone to the pushup contest and failed!

That show was just plain stupid from start to finish. They are out of story lines it looks like. She shouldn't have kicked the kids out...they were the story.

Amber and Trent think they and their TikTok videos and kinky costumes and sex life are the story.

Maybe they should do dwarf porn instead?

As this program continues on, it appears more and more to me that the parents, particularly Mom, are cruel and far from loving to the kids.  Their idea of a prank by scaring the daughters last night was just not right.  The cockroach prank was benign compared to the idea of scaring these two young single women, both now living on their own by "breaking in" while wearing masks and black costumes.  (The door to the home was unlocked, so this must have been contrived in some way for the cameras, although the girls did appear very frightened.)

And what a waste of money buying all the costumes and glow sticks as well as the cockroaches.

I can barely stand to watch this season with all the “musical chairs” being played with animals… it really pisses me off!

Amber and Trent and their stupid pranks aren’t funny… In fact sneaking into Anna’s home and scaring the girls made me angry… what’s wrong with these parents?!?!?… grow the fuck up!

Liz has become a know-it-all bossy bitch just like her mother and she’s big as a house…. Rather than get a kitten then a puppy only to pass the kitten off on Anna maybe she should have joined a gym and get some excercise!

The whole pizza dough thing was boring as hell…. TLC it’s time to pull the plug on this Turkey!

The only one I can tolerate is Anna…. Give that girl her own show and dump the rest.

I agree...that whole prank on the girls was over the top mean.  Not funny.  I hate people who think scaring the shit out of others is funny.  It makes me really uncomfortable.  Not to mention the dam mess.   Trent says  "we'll help you clean up".   I'd be like, uh no...you clean it up all yourselves since it was your guys dumb idea to do this , yeesh..

And I also couldn't believe Liz gave up that kitten so easily to Anna!!  I was already attached to that cat just in the time I watched it!  He/she was a cutie!  Though I am a hardcore cat person...def not a dog person, so that's prob just me 😁

I forgot to add: they're lucky Cruiser didn't rip that kitten to shreds when they just threw it down on the floor with him.  Believe it or not, some Dachshunds have a VERY strong prey drive and will not only attack, but kill whatever they catch.  They are hounds and were bred to hunt and destroy badgers, who are at least as big and bad as they are (inside a tunnel underground, besides).  This family and their ignorance when it comes to animals; don't get me started!

Yes, I thought the same thing! When they were in the pet store, Emma suggested that Anna get a bunny and Anna said, no, Cruiser would probably kill it. At least Anna seemed to have some sort of sense at that point.

Liz just annoys me. She acts just like Amber

  • Love 6

Poor Cruiser is probably so lonely, bored, and desperate for company while sitting in his room alone 12 hours a day that he decided to let the kitten live!  Another dog (especially another Doxie) would have been preferable, however.  Let Amber Jr. keep the kitten for which SHE assumed responsibility for life; not just for a week.  And tell her friend to get her damn cat spayed!!!

Dear Teacher Amber: "RBF face" is redundant.  Poor Anna!  Not one episode can pass without her being insulted by that family.  Also, family, when Cruiser runs up, tail wagging ecstatically, to greet you, please be kind enough to greet him back.

I'm convinced that what we saw was Trent's last day at work after officially submitting his intent to retire at least a month previously.  People don't just decide in the morning and leave forever in the afternoon after working in a state job with a pension and benefits for 28 years.  Retirements CAN feel like resignations (my own was an "I quit...I mean retire" moment for the same reason -- incompetent new management), but they aren't, and that's not how it's done.

Finally, Jonah SO bought that house.  No one is that excited about a rental.
