Sweet Fellowship: Duggars and Friends (aka the Bates Family and Other Featured Families Thread)

Message added by Scarlett45

If a person/family was never featured on any of the Duggar shows, and is not related to the Duggar family by blood or marriage, they do not need to be discussed here..

The Politics Policy is still in effect. A participants social media is NOT an invitation to discuss their political view points. Consider if discussion of certain social media posts will cause you to violate the politics policy BEFORE you hit the "Submit Reply" button.

We may all agree that David Rodriques is quite unfortunate looking, but let's refrain from comparing human beings to apes, its got way too much of a loaded history- please review the new Inclusion Policy updated May 1, 2022 , which details guidelines around discussing body type, capabilities, physical appearance etc. Additionally, using body size as an insult is not allowed.

I bet the boys know how to run the press by now. DBD supervises from the lounger while watching the map.

I’m sure the older girls know how to run the press, too. Or are girls only allowed to fold paper ? 🥲

I don't know what this new acronym for GWE means, and I regularly follow this topic.  Do we really need yet another one for The Hunk?

It's Deadbeat Dave. I thought it was commonly used. 😀

At the present time there is a paper shortage. I work with printers daily and the situation has been ongoing for quite some time.  This is what infuriates me about this whole mess…there are people trying to print IMPORTANT things who can’t get the paper to do so…and here is GWE printing stuff that NO ONE READS!  As a result of the shortage, paper costs are rising and there is no end in sight. So unless GWE has a stockpile of paper in his shop, I foresee his operations being slowed or stopped very soon.  If huge nationwide printers can’t readily source basic stock to print on, how could he?

I cannot second this enough. I have lost track of the number of book launches that have had to be rescheduled, not to mention the events supporting said book launches that also have had to be rescheduled because of the change in the book launch date. I've seen tweets from folks concerned about getting textbooks in on time for upcoming college classes, and other folks who are getting delays in royalty/advance payments because of the paper shortage. It's everywhere - major presses, academic presses, indy presses, small presses, books on demand - everywhere. I've also seen a couple of local restaurants switch to electronic-only menus (up on big display screens or tablets) because of printing costs/delays.  And not just in the U.S., either - presses in the European Union and China are also scrambling for paper. It's a mess, and it's causing actual economic harm to actual people.

I mean, I guess it's a new way for them to grift - they can legitimately say that the costs of paper have gone way up, so they need more donations - but I would argue that now is not the time to print anything that's just going to get thrown away, even if it's getting thrown into a recycling bin.

I’m only posting one picture because we haven’t seen these two in a while. From a visitor badge, it looks like this visit was on Sunday.

The whole crew was there.

Jill’s latest post:

A lot of people have asked me about my sweet Mom's progress. She is continuing to improve, although she is still quite confused and dealing with a killer headache.  😪  She had successful surgery today to take out her head drain and put in a permanent shunt.  Less wires and tubes attached to her - YES!..... but, MORE of her beautiful hair got shaved off!  😢  She is doing well, all things considering and we thank you for your prayers!  ❤️ A HUGE thank you to my Aunt Brenda Noyes-Gainer and Bette Bray Burlew for coming to help.  Thank you also for Kevin Burlew coming to be a blessing.  My brother in law ( Kevin Foster ) always lovingly puts essential oils on my mom when he visits.  😊  We are blessed to have such wonderful relatives and friends!  😊🥰😉

what in the hell with that tie?

the one on the left (Philip?) looks sharp though.  That's a good color on him.

The one on the left is Timothy Rodrigues. The one on the right looking straight from the 70s is Phillip. :)

I've never thought her mother's hair was anything remarkable and yes, Jill needs to get over it.  If her mother survives this, her hair is among the least of her problems.

Oh you know Jill is going to be fiddling with the shunt trying to cover it up.

Apparently the whole family is bonkers, the BIL putting "essential oils" on Ma.   WHY?   She does not need that crap right now.   Good grief she just got over an infection because ya'all can't keep your dirty paws off her, so you want her to have another one?

thank you, I had a feeling I might be wrong about that.  I try not to look at pictures of the family too much.  They make me so angry every time I see those children.

That suit (the shirt and tie especially) do look good on Tim though.

Covid just loves it when there's many people visiting in a hospital room.

Remember when Jill wasn't posting her mom's picture to respect her privacy? That was a great two days. You should go back to that, Jillybean.

Well, when you dress your family in church hand-me-downs and the thrift store bargain bin, you should not be surprised to get 60-year-old items from someone's grandpa's closet.  That tie screams 1950's to me.  I think it could be worse.

OMG. I just had a slew of medical visits in various places including the hospital. Never once did I run into anyone unmasked. Not once. I'm so thankful I live where I live.

The Rods are one of the most selfish and careless families I've run across.

Avoid looking at the pictures of children sitting on her hospital bed, poses cheek to cheek, etc.. It’s bad for her health, and yours.

Just when you think BME can’t post anything worse, you get those videos of the Rod family descending on poor Ma. Based on the pictures Ma had 20 visitors. How can that be good for her? JillR is so selfish and self centered. What the heck was in that wagon GWE was pulling? SMH.

No wonder she suffers from SEVERE headaches.

Ma had a "headache" so everyone needed to leave to give her some quiet time.

GEEZ, the WHOLE DAMN family did not need to go.   Jill could have gone to check on her Ma alone.    But then it wouldn't have been as dramatic as the whole family showing up to show their love for Grandma.   With whatever was in that wagon.   I would say for a family that claims to be so broke they donations from their "kind neighbors" all the time, that sure is a full wagon, but Jill probably went through the house and just through a bunch of crap she was tired of into the wagon rather than buy anything.

Thanks to some intrepid detective work, we now know that Ma Noyes is at Ohio State's medical center in Columbus.  They have rules in place which include masks for all visitors.  I presume that the Rodriguii have been offered masks every time they visit and have flatly refused to comply.  The only options are to bar them from visiting Jill's very sick mother entirely or let them behave like asses.  I can only imagine the chagrin of the staff every time the circus pulls into town. I am surprised they allowed that many visitors at once although they may have taken turns with some waiting in the lobby and spreading germs to strangers.

The shunt is probably a permanent one and would thread from her brain into her abdomen along the blood vessels under her skin, so there's nothing for Jill to disguise.  Mama has excess spinal fluid or hydrocephalus and they will use the shunt to keep the fluid draining.

They are a complete and utter fail:

Respect for other patients

Studies show that a quiet environment can help patients heal faster. When you are visiting, please observe the visiting policy and maintain respectful noise levels throughout the hospital. Please be respectful of roommates and patients in nearby rooms by keeping noise to a minimum.

I have to express how aghast I am at their behavior and getting away with it.  They are among the most selfish people I've ever seen in a hospital.

Same here. The fact that these unvaccinated, not mask wearing people are allowed in in those numbers is making my head hurt. Why is the staff not doing anything? They have to protect their other patients too, it's one thing if these idiots kill grandma with their ignorant, selfish behavior but there's more people in that hospital.

My kid has therapy at the children's hospital in town(Iowa) and we have to wear a mask to get into the building.

I am baffled.  To get into the local hospital to visit, I have to pass a security guard, be wearing a mask, get a health check, show my vaccination card, and get an armband.  They keep a log of visitors in and out and if the computer shows two people in "Maybelle's" room, I don't get an armband, but a seat, and they'll call me when someone leaves.

That hospital has a process similar to that during non-COVID times especially of limiting visitors.  I'm astounded that both the Rodrigues bunch openly flaunt all rules, but that there is apparently zero control system practiced by the hospital.

Same. And I would be appalled if any of the medical facilities I went to allowed a parade of superspreaders like the Rods, every single day. My mom went to the post office here yesterday, and said she saw more people wearing masks than she has for a while. Even people just going quickly inside to mail something - in and out in 2 minutes.

I ask this question about all fundies. Maybe it’s their god’s plan for them to get sick? They say it was their god’s plan for millions to die in wars and from gun violence, after all.

I was going to say, Ma's room is looking eerily similar to the Barndo - if there's an empty square inch of wall space, Jill's going to make sure it's covered.  She's probably got crap taped to the monitors too.

Still trying to figure out how these complete morons manage to traipse through a hospital lobby, unmasked and probably warbling in 13-part harmony, and dragging a wagon full of Covid cooties crap without getting a firm escort right back out the door by security.  I completely understand how absolutely exhausted medical staff are (I am one of them and I am not even on the front lines) and have been for the past two years, dealing with non-compliant idiots like the Rods, but that many people unmasked is a threat not only to Ma but certainly to other patients.  I am SO looking forward to Jill's persecution post when someone kicks them to the curb.  I just cannot with the utter selfishness and smug satisfaction of Jill making sure that everyone knows that she can do whatever she wants, wherever she wants, with no retribution.  She is AWFUL.

Covid is not the only dangerous virus out there. My dad died in late 2019 from RSV. He had advanced COPD and somehow got exposed to RSV. He didn’t go out much so we don’t know how/who infected him. It may have been my mom or I. We both had minor colds around that time. RSV is always with us, but generally only dangerous to infants and older people with other conditions. The Rods could easily be carrying this virus or any other and not be affected themselves, but it could kill her mom.

Someone did question on the Facebook post what hospital and why no masks. Of course Jill hasn't answered. Suprised the comment has been deleted and the person hasn't been blocked. I was going to comment about masks, but apparently you have to be a "friend" to comment.

Well I can understand why she did not want to give the name of the hospital but if you are going to not wear a mask in that situation ..own it. Be proud of the fact you did not wear a mask. Just to be clear I think they should be wearing a mask in the hospital and there is no reason to bring everyone in at the same time.
