I just saw that Instagram post. Good for Zack. I hope he does well. He seems very people oriented and I am sure he is well known his area.  One thing about Zack is that he doesn't come across as lazy.  And the youtube cooking channel should be fun. So while Carlin and Evan are filming Layla dancing and  twirling in a princess dress and smearing makeup on herself and hopping this will bring in viewers Zack and Whitney are looking to the future. I wouldn't be surprised if Evan isn't  a little worried at BSB.

Zach is funny and affable, I agree he'll excell in any type of sales gig. I think it's great that he's planning for a post-BSB future, although I'm a little surprised he isn't trying to get another government job. The benefits and pension are really good with most city and state agencies. For whatever reason, he seems done with law enforcement.

I'm looking forward to seeing the YouTube. Zach's food always looks amazing and I love cooking content.

I'm curious about BSB, though. Is it doing so well Z&W can hand the reigns to the manager and simply collect a check, or is the writing on the wall? It seems like they did a half dozen cash and carries over the summer but the inventory pile never diminished. I agree this needs to be a wakeup call for the Stewarts. They can't live off social media forever and there's no Daddy (Warbucks) Clark to subsidize their lifestyle. They need to do what the Websters and Balkas are doing, where the husband has a solid 9-5 and the wife's Influencing is icing on the cake.

It's interesting that of all of these people Z is the one who ISN'T scared of the world. He likes people and people like him. He wasn't scared to chat up a girl at Sonic, not even knowing if she was fundie or not. He wasn't scared to work at the city commissioners office for 5+ yrs - dealing with all types of coworkers and city residents coming in with their issues. He wasn't scared to go off to the police academy - including living there for a few months - in an academy class with all types of people [gasp] even women. He wasn't scared to be a cop for a decade again dealing with all kinds of citizens.

As G&K's oldest, he could have easily built a life just like theirs. As the oldest son, he could have demanded to be the one that takes the tree service. Or he could've become a solo contractor/handyman like Chad or Trace to avoid working with others or taken on construction work with the Duggars or whatever sweet Fla. friend Jackson works for now. He seems to like having his own job, his own coworkers and work life separate from his family/church. Looks like he started real estate back in Dec. and he's joined a real company - has a LinkedIn page listing it. So this isn't a - oh I got a real estate license - and had some boards made up and now I'm hustling for listings.

Looks like he goes to an office bc he already has a buddy there who is helping him start up the cooking YT prob bc he talks about cooking so much.

His brothers and some BILs could take a lesson from Zach in putting themselves out there. Who knows maybe the Sarah Reith breakup was the best thing that ever happened to him - it made him realize his parents' view of stay within your own circle and live scared was unnecessary BS.

Whit tried to bring him back to this a few yrs ago bc she likely had Kelly screaming in her ear about how bad it was that Z isn't home 24-7 with her and the kids and look how Bobby got the wandering eye, is a career worth that?? Worked for a while but I imagine in his heart of hearts Z was like yeah I can't be 24-7 folding dresses at my wife's shop for life.

The company that he's with is a sizeable company that apparently also has mortgage specialists etc. I realize he doesn't have a college degree and I think he'd prob enjoy sales more, but I wouldn't be surprised if at some point he ends up getting into mortgage or title work - if he doesn't end up back in city government. Talk about a slap to G&K and their anti debt faith.

I can't imagine they'd just hand the reigns to a manager or heaven forbid C&E and just check out. Whit will still be involved with products/photoshoots etc. and I bet Zach will still be involved also. Real estate doesn't usually end up being a 40 hr wk, 9-5 job. Some days you're coming and going looking at properties etc., other days it's just "market research" done on a computer. I doubt it'd be a big deal for his real estate employer if he was spending 10 hrs/wk at BSB - just stopping in a few half days and checking in, looking at the books etc. Frankly he's such a talkative person, bet he told the prospective employer all about needing to put some time into his wife's biz too - lol. And frankly if it were a problem for an employer, I see him being a hard enough worker that he'd be involved with BSB on nights/weekends.

Yeah C&E need to see the writing on the wall here. Zach ISN'T tying his and Whit's future to a store that constantly has inventory stacked to the ceiling . . . C&E should consider why. But nah Evan is like this is the perfect "job" where I barely show up 1x/wk and otherwise we're rolling out of bed at 10 am, I'm playing golf mid week, and spend my days playing video games. You know C&E's first concern here was - damn Z isn't going to BSB daily now, and W is homeschooling 5 kids, wait does that mean WE are going to be expected to show up bc come on weekends are supposed to start on Wednesday and now we have to change that bc Z has decided to get a dumb office job?

I think it's funny that right at the beginning Z says "I don't like to sit around bored." Lol and you Evan?

I remember when Zach's first courtship failed. He was like a deer in headlights. While I hate to give G&KJ credit, they did help him to loosen up a bit. I doubt they wanted him to bring home a non-Fundy, but Whit Fundied-up right quick.

Doesn't Whit have her real estate license as well? What happened there? I'm guessing she thought she'd have way more flexibility than see did. Real estate may not be the traditional 40 hour work week, but agents do have to do office hours and they need to be willing to answer their phone all the time. As a full-time job, its a lot of work.

Laughing out loud as Whit posted a video of one of her kids at gymnastics to the song Lil Boo Thang. While gross to use that song for a video with a little girl - why not just hold up a sign that says - we ain’t fundies anymore, thx. Lol. She has got to know what that song is referring to?!

Maybe she thinks it's about Halloween. But they shouldn't believe in that.

Evan doesn't strike me as someone with foresight and a 5-year plan. Things will go along as they are until they don't and then "another door opens."

Whitney had a license at one point. However, according to public records it expired a few years ago. I think she only had it for a plot point on the show. She only had one listing at the firm where she was at and that never did sell.

Wow, that's a lot of work for a show plot. The licensing test is not easy breezy.

I don't mean that they came up with it as much as she was probably saying she was interested in it or thinking about it and they ran with it.

The dates don't quite add up. Apparently, she was filming stuff where she met her boss several months before she passed in real life. I don't remember, but I don't think she passed the broker-level test or even took it.

In my area you need 3 years experience as a licensed agent before you can become a broker. I wonder if they got ahead of themselves with filming and Whit never passed the initial test and that's why it faded away.

She was licensed as an agent and on the Bailey real estate site for a while. Before that, Mrs. Bailey (the co-owner) was featured on the show to take Kelly, Kelly's mom, and various random children househunting. Kelly greeted her like an old friend and pretended they had discussed this whole thing about Kelly's mom. However, clearly this was all new news to this woman. She was showing a woman in her late 70s early 80s and a disabled husband, homes that had no main floor bathroom and had all the bedrooms upstairs. My guess is that the show found her and the agency for a few stories.

Kelly Jo "guest starred" on Zach's youtube cooking show this week, making chicken salad.  They went on and on about how it was a staple in the house when Zach was growing up.  They would boil bunches of chicken and then save the broth and all the shredded chicken and she would make several chicken dishes from it.  Chicken Salad, Chicken Soup, Chicken and Dumplings. Kelly Jo showed how to make two types of chicken salad.  So, I guess she did some cooking when the kids were growing up.  I was floored to learn this.  Would have been nice if their TV show would have lent itself to some things like this.  The only Chicken Salad the show ever talked about was from some store or deli that Michael catered her wedding with and it was proclaimed to be the best.  But on Zach's show, Kelly Jo's was the best.

If you haven't watched any of his cooking videos his tag line is, "You'll thank me for it later."

Typically arrogant of a Bates. Or any fundie.

I doubt Kelly did any cooking once Michael(a) hit four or five and was considered old enough to handle meal preparation. Kelly must either have used someone else's recipes on Zach's show, or she is remembering a long-ago time when she actually acted like a parent.

I only saw a quick clip of the video with Kelly. In that it seemed like she was shouting. It was when she mentioned using a name brand mayonnaise.

I do not get the Duke mayo love...I hate it...lol...if they really wanted to up the game...they could do a quick home made mayo and spice it up to make it their own....

Kelly said her chicken salad recipe came from her granddad.  She then told Zach that her grandmother, Nana, owned and worked a little deli or something like that, and it was her chicken salad but that she learned it from her granddad.  Zach did not know about his grandmother working or owning a business.  A big deal was made on how Kelly only uses the cylinder can of Morton's salt in her dishes and that Zach has "fancy salt" and grinding dispensers for his salt and pepper.  And he uses a fancy mustard like Grey Poupon and she just uses basic generic mustard.

For sure. She's said herself that she grew up on tv dinners and never learned to cook. She has said Michaela and Alyssa were the cooks in the family. People who know/knew them have said church ladies and Mama Jane taught both of them to cook - not Kelly.

It wasn't even really a recipe. It was chicken salad. She referred to the romaine lettuce (she and Zach couldn't pronounce it) as fancy.

Zach couldn’t pronounce “romaine” lettuce? 🤦‍♀️

I don't think she eats out much though. She just goes to people's houses. But geez has she never had a Cesar salad?

Such effin rubes.  She is college educated correct?  I have to question the person that has 5000 kids and doesn't know how to cook or even know what broccoli is (THE most recognizable veggie outside of a carrot).  Or homeschools said 5000 kids and is dumb as a rock.  Setting your family up for success.  🙄

She and most of this family are the very definition of willful ignorance. The men in the family are all brawn and very little substance in terms of art and culture. Their understanding of history is limited to the Civil War. Science is tainted with "Biblical" principles. The women seem to think it is cute to be ignorant. It helps them land a man.

Only Michaela seems to have any interest in learning more about anything other than skincare, cosmetics, etc.

I was wrong. He couldn't pronounce arugula. Kelly was saying in a "fancy restaurant" chicken salad came with lettuce and tomato. But they just ate it on sandwiches. She then says Zach got the fancy lettuce. He commented earlier that he might like to put dill in the chicken salad.

She also thought she was doing a commercial for Duke's Mayonaise. I'm southern, but I honestly don't get the whole mayo loyalty thing.

Another interesting note, Gil and Kelly talked about not having a television or letting the kids watch television. However, in this video Zach notes that he bought and is using Grey Poupon because they (? - is he referencing his parents or his whole family) liked the commercials when he was younger. I just always am amused when they end up telling on themselves.

I would say “understanding” — because I doubt they can or will fully comprehend the reality of that one!
