FurryFury April 22, 2016 Share April 22, 2016 Prince. How is this possible? I always get a little weirded out by people who talk about crying when a celebrity dies since we don't know the real person, but I'm tearing up at his death. I had to write a "My Five Favorite Things" piece for a magazine last year, and Purple Rain made the list. Prince blew my little Catholic school mind, but the album (and all his works) stayed with me because they have compassion and soul in a song you can shake your ass to. I was half-hoping this would be one of his weird self-reinventions. This is terrible. The only celebrity death that made me cry was Terry Pratchett. Still not over it. 3 Link to comment
Danny Franks April 22, 2016 Share April 22, 2016 The only celebrity death that made me cry was Terry Pratchett. Still not over it. That made me cry as well, actually. I grew up reading his books, and still can't handle the idea that there will never be another one. Victoria Wood's death a couple of days ago got me choked up too. She was so incredibly funny and talented, and my mum's favourite comedian, so I grew up watching her and laughing along, even when I was too young to understand the nuances of the humour. A lot of these big rockstars who die, I don't really feel much one way or the other. They're too remote and almost fantastical for me to really see them as real people. I suppose both Prince and Bowie cultivated that image deliberately, though. 2 Link to comment

KenyaJ April 22, 2016 Share April 22, 2016 Sorry for your loss, Kismet. I didn't want to go to bed last night because I knew it would mean waking up in a world where there's no Prince anymore. I still can't believe it. I was walking into my office this morning and realized I was wearing purple today. I didn't even think about it when I picked out something to wear, but I guess my brain was making a subconscious tribute. RIP, Prince. You will be so missed. 5 Link to comment

I was okay when I heard the news, though shocked. It wasn't until I got home and started reading people's experiences with him and binging his videos and songs that I got really emotional. I love that all his fan encounters sound like fanfic but were real. He's the first artist I considered a genius - something I previously hadn't thought could be ascribed to one of my contemporaries. He changed the music industry and provided a soundtrack to my life. I'm just really glad I got to experience his beautiful, brilliant, weirdo self. 4 Link to comment

SleepDeprived April 23, 2016 Share April 23, 2016 I'm okay with a Baywatch reboot because The Rock is in it. He's pretty and I'm shallow. Not going to watch in the theaters, though, but will wait for the rental. :) Really not sure about the Jumanji reboot because I can't think of anyone who can take over Robin Williams' role (and I don't want anyone to try). Maybe they'll make it as more of a sequel and the board is found by some other kid not related to Parrish? What I'm absolutely not here for is The Mummy remake with Tom Cruise. Because just no. Ugh. 3 Link to comment

Isn't there anything similar that hasn't already been done? I've always thought that Jumanji is a perfect film for 3D technology and that it was a shame it was released before it was possible. I just imagine, for a kid, watching the animals stampede and come to life, would be quite immersive with 3D because you are basically experiencing the same thing as the characters. doesntworkonwood April 23, 2016 Share April 23, 2016 As a reminder to anyone in the UK, the BBC is celebrating Shakespeare on the 400th anniversary of his death with (amongst other things) a live show from the RSC celebrating his works from 8.30 tonight. They've got a really fantastic cast, David Tennant, Catherine Tate, Dame Judi Dench, Sir Ian McKellen, Dame Helen Mirren and a whole bunch more. Richard II is also available on iplayer at the moment, and will be for the next six months. I know you guys were discussing Titus Andronicus a few pages back, so I thought I'd let you know. 5 Link to comment

It's taken an extremely anti-Felicity turn since I've been the past there the past couple months. To my knowledge they were always anti Felicity, whatever change for the even worser is probably fueled by a combination of the DC comics fan forum denouncing their connection to them, the death of Laurel, and some twitter fight that happened a month or so ago or was it two Arrow writers joking about that forum.. I can't remember what it was exactly that happened- I didn't pay attention. Edited April 24, 2016 by foreverevolving 1 Link to comment

statsgirl April 25, 2016 Share April 25, 2016 Chris Hemsworth lost his wallet and it was returned to him money intact by a young man trying for his Eagle Scout rank.. Hemsworth gave the kid the money that he had, saying that he expected the wallet to be returned with no money. I went Awwww, and then I saw the clip and found out that all this happened on the Ellen show and De Generis gave the kid $10,000 for his college fund and now it's left a bad taste in my mouth. Instead of a nice act, it feels like a publicity stunt (what about all the people who return wallets and don't get $10,000). I like benefits that fit the action, as well as punishments that fit the crime, and this seems to reinforce how unfair life and celebrity is these days. (I hated Oprah's giveaways too because how unfair was it that her audience got so much free stuff and other people didn't.) Link to comment

Starfish35 April 25, 2016 Share April 25, 2016 I haven't heard much about the show. I know that Cassandra Clare, who wrote the books the show is based on, is somewhat infamous in fandom circles. And apparently some of the characters are believed by some to be drawn from her Harry Potter fan fiction. But that's about all I know about it. Link to comment
SonofaBiscuit April 25, 2016 Share April 25, 2016 I watch pretty much everything, so I've seen Shadowhunters. It is kind of cheesy, but there are plenty of pretty people, and I really enjoyed the Magnus/Alec (Malec) ship. I mean, it's not award winning television, but if you want something light and fun, I'd recommend it. If you have high TV standards (unlike me), then skip it. Link to comment

I'm looking for shows to keep me busy this summer and there seems to be enough of the gay stuff to catch my interest but other than that is the show any good? I've read the books and I watched the first few episodes, just as a 'hate watch', though not really hate just in a laughing at it kind of way. But it got so bad that I had to give up. The acting, particularly the main actress, is incredibly horrible. She seems to drag everyone down with her, because other actors who have been decent in other stuff seem to have had their acting abilities disappear. The writing is also shit, like seriously. There's no world building at all, and none of it seems to make any sense. That said, a lot of people over on tumblr seem to think that it's much much better than the books (which is a pretty low threshold). And there is Mathew Daddrio. Link to comment
Danny Franks April 25, 2016 Share April 25, 2016 Game of Thrones: I still think something will happen. I don't believe he's dead for good. I don't even watch the show any more (got tired of the misogynistic storylines and the long bouts of tedium interspersed with empty shocks) and I can say he's definitely, absolutely, categorically not going to be dead for good. Not in the books and not on the show. Not even GRRM is as swelled up by his own hype to kill of the single PPV character of a storyline that he has devoted over a thousand pages to, before it even reaches act three. 2 Link to comment

Sakura12 April 26, 2016 Share April 26, 2016 I think other shows need to take note of Elementary's use of a major villain. Too many shows want to focus on their villain and make the regulars, but that takes away their allure. Malcolm has overstayed his welcome going on 2 seasons now. Damian Darhk while played by a great actor is kind of not that interesting anymore. We see too much of them and they can't really do anything evil until mid-season or leading up to the finale. The rest of the time they talk a lot of game without actually doing anything. I know it's because of the actress's availability, but that has made Moriarty a more interesting series long villain. We never know when she's going to show up and if the things that are happening are because of her. When she does get mentioned or show up I get really excited and can't wait to see what happens.
