That was worse than I thought possible, and I ff'd through a good portion. The grossest. I'd love to know what SN thought when he got that script. Oh, and I also ff'd through Belle and Philip. The only bright spot was JJ and Gabi -- you go, young lovers-to-be.

Seriously, if this doesn't end with Kayla utterly and completely decimating Ava then there is no point to any of this.

 

And knowing Higley, that's not how it's going to go down because Not!Todd and Blair had more than earned the right to destroy Margaret (and then Spencer) for what she did them but she wound up getting hit by a car after about three years of terror. And no one of note was even driving the car (unless Higley's new object of obsession, Spencer Truman, was the one responsible... which is possible... but I was so stretched beyond my limit by that time I didn't even care that much who was responsible if it wasn't Blair or Not!Todd) so it was a literal 'going out with a whimper.' She has no concept of how characters earn the rights to things by the shit they go through.

 

This shit right now? Ugh... okay, Steve is going to allow Ava to blackmail his ass over this despite the fact that it was full on coercion to save Kayla's life. (We can argue over the fact that it never should have gotten this far but it's a moot point... this mess is what it is.) He's going to be secretive and shady and pull away from Kayla due to his own guilt.

 

Now, Kayla's got to find out at some point. Ava's going to torture Steve but Joey should step up and tell his mother what HE saw between Steve and Ava, making Kayla get VERY suspicious. Once it comes out, finally, Joey will probably not understand and think that his Dad totally screwed his mother over. Kayla will get it, or at least she should. Her anger should be at Steve not being square with her because THIS IS AN ISSUE. (And I swear to Freya I feel like I'm writing about Blair and Not!Todd all over again. Cripes, this woman!)

 

Ava has gotten enough out of this mess... now she has to lose it all. ALL. She does not get her alleged child. If Steve doesn't have the balls to flat out tell her 'I will NEVER let you near this kid after everything you've done. You don't deserve to get your happy ending and that kid doesn't deserve to get a psychotic rake invading his life! He could be dying in a ditch right now and he'd still be better off there than anywhere near you!' then he'd better do his best to hide that kid from Ava and bury it deeper than John's actual life story.

 

Kayla also has to get it over on Ava. I hope that somewhere along the line, Ava is hanging off a cliff, begging Kayla to help her and citing 'First, Do No Harm! You're a doctor! Help me!' so Kayla can go... "All you do is harm. If I save you, I will be hurting too many people so I'm not falling for that shit. Suck it, bitch!"

 

And Joey can be all 'At least I'm 16 years old and allowed to be a fucking moron. What's your excuse for being so desperate for a man who doesn't want anything to do with you? God, how pathetic are you?'

 

And then she can die, never to return.

Great thoughts but we know the positive stuff will never happen because Kayla is supposed to be the perpetual trash heap in Higley land. We all know Ava will walk away, Kayla will be stuck having to accept whatever nightmare child Steve has produced with this woman, and that Ava will return next year with another Steve offspring that she will use to ruin Kayla's life. At this point, I have no sympathy for Steve and fell his punishment should be life with Ava and the brats he spawns with her. Kayla gets someone awesome who is not the source of constant pain in her life, and Kayla's memory gets erased, thus freeing her from all memories of Steve. Can you sense the bitterness, because I don't think there is any coming back for this pair that doesn't make Kayla look like a complete pathetic loser -- so I'm sure she'll marry Steve for May sweeps.

Must we see Belle and Pruneface go at it EVERY DAY??  Gosh durn that Belle, she's a real prize.  Not only does she ooze her way between the sheets with Philip again, she THEN proceeds to go through his stuff.  Marlena and Jawn would be so proud!  

 

Gabi and JJ were the best part of today's show for me.  Casey Moss is on a roll and I'm happy that Show is carving out a decent space for him.  I'm just hand waving his fast track to copdom because we need something and someone on Show who can be enjoyed without the need to shower immediately after.

 

Ava is not only horrible she's horrible to look at, too.  I give both actors credit for being able to get through those scenes without losing their lunch.  If anything else happened today the horror of seeing those two couplings wiped the memories clean.

The problem starts somewhere. Maybe if Marlena stop looking into that damn chimney and worrying and talk sense into these children of hers along with taking time out from Jawn's sausage strokes we might be onto something. Hell Hope just bust a cap in Stefano, damn near has been choked out and lost the love of her life and she's been parenting better than Marlena who knew! Marlena needs to find whatever leftover demon powers she's had left from the devil visiting her and use it on her children. It's time to be no sense with these rat children of hers.

Instead we get Abby and Chad, Belle and Phillip and the awfulness that is everything involving Ava. Lucky us.

        I was thinking the same. Ever since Eve started throwing around the Julliard audition, I've been thinking, "Isn't Claire a little young for college?" I thought she was early high school at best. The show probably would have been better off going with LaGuardia (a famous performance arts high school), although I don't remember anyone moving across country to attend. But at least it would make more sense for the character's age,

        This is the downside of SORASing. The show spent so much energy making Hope "young and sexy" with Aiden and now apparently with Rafe, that it's a little weird (at least to me) to see her as a grandmother at all, let alone to a sudden teenager. In fact, I don't recall Hope and Claire being in many scenes together since Belle and Claire moved to town. What does Claire call Hope?

If they're trying to do a triangle with Phillip, Shawn, and Abifail Lite they're doing a poor job. Besides Phillip and Abifail Lite being repellent, AL seems more interested in riding Phillip and only shows a passing interest in saving her marriage because she thinks it's what she's supposed to do and doesn't want to lose her good girl image.

Nah! I thought the correction officer plot was so weird and random. He didn't like gay guys or straight guys. He wanted Gabby but was so creepy. Dario was with Melanie. Probably an unpopular opinion around here but I'd like for Melanie to come back. I liked her and loved her relationships with Maggie and Brady (not including their stupid romance) and there needs to be more 20something women on the show. All we have now is Gabi and that Dimeria lover.

Man oh man, but today was strange!  While I am enjoying Andre's talking about Fatha and making dire predictions to Chad, Stephano's actual murder leaves me feeling blah.

 

I can't get over what an unpleasant and bitchy person Abby is and while the wedding dress was cute, she didn't look cute in it.  She has this cold look on her face whenever she realizes that no one in her family is happy for her and it kind of makes me smile.  This just show that Abby only truly loves herself because what Chad said was the truth--if they love each other and love Thomas, they don't need anyone else.  Except that's not how Abby feels--she wants her family around her validating her every choice and now that they aren't, she is adrift.  She is incapable of being independent of the Hortons and more importantly, incapable of any actual joy.

 

Theresa's words about pain medication were well meant because it is extremely easy to become addicted,but Abby doesn't want to hear it.  No one is accusing her sainted mother, they're just trying to head off disaster.

I believe Jullird has pre college and summer programs someone her age could get into but her vocals are just not Julliard material. Those programs are extremely competitive.

Theresa should have had the conversation about Jen's insta drug addiction with JJ or Maggie or someone else who cares about Jen. There's no point in trying to talk to Failure if it's not about her. 

 

I'm confused about everything that happened in the Kate scenes. (1) If Deimos went to prison in his early 20s and just now got out what money does he have to loan Kate? (2) I thought Nicole and Theresa wanted to buyout Kate and rebuild the company? Now Kate is the one buying them out? (3) I was under the impression that Kate is very wealthy, but then she had to partner with Nicole and Theresa to but Basic Black, which didn't even seem like it was worth much. Now she needs a loan to buy them out even though Basic Black still doesn't seem like it's worth much. (4) I don't understand why Kate and Eduardo broke up. Didn't Kate basically say she wanted to be able to do whatever she wanted (scheme, commit crimes) without being made to feel bad about it? And then Eduardo...refused? Or something?

 

Isn't Shawn a CSI? Why is Roman talking to him about Deimos being on an Interpol watch list like he's a cop? 

 

Why does Andre keeping talking to Chad about Stefano being murdered when Chad has made it perfectly clear that he doesn't care?

 

Poor Chad has to ask Rafe to be his best man since the writers won't let him have any meaningful relationships outside of Failure.

Yes a million times better than yesterday.  I almost didn't watch today, but it's raining, so what else was there to do. LOL. 

 

I can't get used to nu-Shawn.  Every time I see him, I think "who's that?".  

 

There's an awful lot of folks now working for the Salem PD. Not that I'm complaining. It's nice to see them actually have jobs.

 

Though I wasn't crazy about the dress, I thought Abigail looked pretty today.

 

MR must have enjoyed playing High-Jennifer.  She really looked happy.  I presume she's doubled her dose, as that seemed to be what Theresa was implying.  I know little about drugs, so I presume doubling the dose makes you high not sleepy.

I too enjoyed this episode quite a bit more than anything else I've seen lately.

They actually wrapped up the whole plot of Kate buying out Basic Black from her two partners and yes, that was what they were hoping for (so they could start their own brand.) And we also got resolution to the plot line of Theresa designing Abigail's wedding dress, which was last mentioned something like 5 months ago back when she was engaged to Ben. I never thought we would get any resolution on that, considering all of the other dangling plot threads in Salem!

I was hoping they would play out how bizarre it was to see Jennifer actually being nice in the presence of Theresa, considering how much she hated Theresa back when she was keeping JJ on drugs. There was some comedy to be mined there, and I'm disappointed they didn't seize the opportunity. I could almost see Jennifer Lilley trying to play the scene that way but having her hands tied by Theresa's concerned dialogue. It would have been so much better if Jennifer had been gushy about Theresa's work and Theresa had looked at her like, "whoa Nelly, I thought you hated my guts!? How high are you right now??" Or maybe even if Jennifer had openly slammed Theresa while at the same time praising her work with a big dumb smile. That could have been hilarious too!

Now that I think of it, I'm pretty surprised that Abigail even asked Theresa to design her wedding dress, considering what Theresa did to her brother...but since I try to block out Failure's plotlines I really don't remember at all if Abby even expressed concern over JJ's behavior and Theresa's involvement in it at the time.

Kudos to the writers for pointing out that JJ made it through the Academy in record time. Romans line of dialogue gave me a chuckle. If they're going to be this wonky with the timeline on the show, they can at least let the characters acknowledge it in a funny way like they did today.

I think it's really weird how they let Nicole look a bit sloppy because she's in mourning, but Jennifer trots around in full hair and makeup and tight dresses at home even though she supposedly recovering from a back injury and would in any realistic world be on bed rest. Why not put Jennifer in less makeup and give her a sweater and loose pants or something? Must she always look put together?

I really really liked Abby's wedding dress though, it must be said. Her face is terrible but if we just look from the neck down she looked terrific. This was the first time I was actually kind of impressed with the clothing they're pretending Theresa has designed.

I'm glad Kate isn't involved with Eduardo anymore. I saw no chemistry there whatsoever.

JJ looks nice in his uniform, though I have to overlook the fact that his past drug use would have disqualified him from most academies in MY state! I'm still trying to adjust to the SORAS. I know it happens often on soaps, but this one totally affected me since Jenn was pregnant with JJ the same time I was pregnant with my son...who is in 5th grade.

I never thought much about VI in the looks department way back in the day (circa 1980s). But wow has he aged well!

Another thing I can't wrap my head around,,,Andre's sudden emotion and affection for his father/former uncle..since Stefano told Andre he'd never forgive him for his beloved Renee's death. And then there was Benji.

I do,enjoy the scenes with Thaao and Billy though.

You would think Andre would be "jumping for joy" that Stefano is gone. He can finally take over the family empire and be the most scariest, powerful villian in town. The fact they're writing him like he gave a damn about Stefano cracks me up because Stefano didn't care for him on the same level as Lexie, Chad, EJ, Benji and Megan. I'm confused how Jen is an insta addict if she was prescribed these meds for a very serious injury. Like if it was weeks from now and she was jonesing I'd get it. I think the writers don't understand how dependency and the illness work...Eric was a drunk like a couple x and now is alcoholic. Hate so be blunt but he had a DUI which was fatal, but there's people I know in RL who have had DUIs (several people) and aren't alcoholics they just made a very dumb decision. And there are people who went through periods where they binge drank and fucked up but I'm not sure they have the addict gene ...but were in that moment trying to self medicate for depression, bored, or acting out for attention. Which is what I think Eric did...all 3.

My stepdads younger brother was run over on a dark night and found dead on the road. To this day the family doesn't know if it was a drunk driver or if it was a Delia from y&r situation like it was dark and he bent over to pick up a dropped object like his cell phone and the driver didn't see him and sped off. But accidents happen, not because of malice but stupidity.

Great day in the morning, Belle is gonna get my ass banned from these boards. I just know it. I just don't think I can come up with polite euphemisms to describe her loose, nasty, trifling ways. She is not only giving Abby a run for the money, I think it is possible that she surpassed her. Their loves scenes now make me happy that JKJ didn't reprise the role. The thing with Belle is that at least when Abby was tarting it up with EJ, Austin, etc., she wasn't a mother.  Martha Madison plays her scenes with Clair as being resentful and annoyed at being a mom, yet heaven forbid Clair seek to fill the void elsewhere. What a selfish ... let me stop. 

 

I remain entranced by Phillip's face. I mean was he face stabbed, step on a pair of rakes. I mean WTF??! If he looks like this in his 30s what is he gonna look like 20 years from now?

 

 

I legit thought the first scene with Belle and Phillip when she says he is like her drug or something was a dream ... or rather nightmare. How about a little discretion and not tonguing each other down in public? Chick is still married.

 

WTH is this show doing to Kayla and Steve? When I have to stop and ponder which is worse: Kayla playing support to Abigail and co-signing all her bullshit or this steaming pile of excrement, we got a real problem here.  Ava in seduction mode is just nightmare fuel. Everything about Steve and her having sexy times and possibly even a child makes me want to vomit in my own mouth. Does the show really think they are intriguing or entertaining the audience with all this been there, done that (a million times) storyline tropes?

 

They have neutered Steve so damn much that it is a wonder he is even able to have sex. Wished he had choked Ava out. 

 

Ya know, I didn't care for teen scenes on soaps when I was a teen so I am lukewarm about their stories. However, the actors that play Theo and Claire are really naturals, but I would like Claire better if she didn't constantly threaten to sing at me. I hate, hate, hate when characters singing or even playing instruments is incorporated on soaps.  If I wanted to hear music, I'd turn on pandora, spotify or go old school and turn on a radio. Biggest pet peeve ever!

 

The kid that plays Joey is terrible. Turrible. Lawd forgive me, but when watching the scene with him and Theo, if I didn't know the show or the characters and I was told one of them was developmentally disabled, I would have guessed Joey. 

 

They style Chase to look like a Duggar or a Christian missionary and I just can't. 

 

NuCiara is not real good either but I do get the sense that she is really trying and eager. 

 

Why did Lucas act like he didn't know that Jen was in an accident? How was that possible given all the shrines erected in Daniel's honor? Too bad they have that makeshift tribute in the square and not in the park. I would have liked to imagine Salem's smarter residents bringing their dogs there to pay tribute - hopefully of the runny and explosive kind. 

 

Less Brady and more Lucas please. Brady has had constant story for at least 3-4 years. The accident was a good time to rest the character and put him in a nice quiet coma for a few weeks.  But nooooo. Now I have to watch him go through Dan's binders full of women! Sounds like a job for the CDC. First Nicole and now beach chick. 

 

Daniel is given a better send than off Bo. BO! Not to mention Stefano who was dumped in an abandoned building and blown to smithereens like so much garbage. Yes, he was a bad man and no I don't expect for him to have statues erected of him all over Salem but as a part of Days fabric for decades he deserved a 1000x better than what he got. 

 

Why is the show turning Kate into the welcome mat for every man of a certain age that comes to Salem?

 

The fact that the audience has seen Abby's wedding dress and so had Chad makes me wonder of the likelihood of this wedding occurring.

Abigail looked lovely today.

Jenn was an absolute hoot!  Reminded me of the book club meeting when JJ spiked the donuts.

 

And NO, Show, she's not an addict.  She's just a piss poor pill taker.  

 

If she had addictive tendencies, Abigail would have driven her to drink YEARS ago - the way she did to me......

It's far too soon for Jenn to be a pain pill addict. A couple of months after the accident, with no real improvement, and looking to increase prescriptions, maybe. Whichever doctor checked her out should have warned her that she will have back pain for X weeks. If the pain persists, make an appointment to discuss other options, be they massages, physiotherapy, chiropractic services, etc.

 

Of course, no one listens to Theresa, who can probably smell an addiction. Her concern seemed genuine. Back injury, pain medication, opiates= trouble.

 

Abigail, of course, was too wrapped up in her wedding gown. It's all about - her. And meedint her needs. Always. Chad is pretty much her own personal UPS delivery guy. Til someone better comes along and she moves to FedEx. No real interest in Junior.

I found Abifail's reaction even more unusual than ever.  She could have been surprised to have Chad walk into the house unexpectedly and see her in the so-so dress but she started out angry then crying and scared.  She hasn't seemed overly worried about moving into the DiMansion (and sleeping in EJ's bed no doubt).  It seems to come out of nowhere.  Except for the dismissal of her mother's problems and her brother's advice.  But somehow that will all serve to make us feel sorry for her.  For some reason.  Then to get that bright sunny grin she gets when someone is physically stroking her.  Yuk. At least Belle owns her badness for the most part.  So did Theresa but I expected she would be redeemed and she was.  Belle?  Failure? 

 

Yes for high Jenn.  JJ should make brownies more often.

Andre has killed people. It is probably in Chad's best interest to line up a few ducks first. Put himself into a more powerful position. Or learn to keep his friends close and enemies closer.
