They should ditch KM, give JL all her screen time, and make a few minor adjustments to the writing for Theresa.

 

Ken Corday hated Ejami, and I don't think he liked that Sami had so many popular pairings.  I think he wanted Sami to always be the loser.  However, Jar Jar is one of his favorites so Chad will never do to Slappy the things EJ did to Sami, and the pathetic side piece will never be criticized or trashed the way Sami and Nicole are.  Instead Ben and Chad will be the bad guys to the boring twit's saintliness.

 

There is no reason whatsoever for Daniel to be involved with Nicole's SL.  I can see how this will play out now.  Nicole will have sex with Eric, or maybe just kiss him, and spend the next fifty years apologizing to Daniel, Eric, and everyone else in Salem.  {face palm}  If they had to make Xander evil why couldn't he kill Dan, Jenn, Slappy, etc.?

 

Jar Jar went chasing after Austin and EJ when they were married and engaged so her criticizing Sami about her exes or anything else is all kinds of hypocritical.  Sami is no saint, and has never been treated as such.  After 22 years on the show, Sami willingly/knowingly had sex with Lucas, Austin, Franco, Brandon, Rafe, and EJ (6 guys) (Alan, EJ and Fake Rafe were rape).

I'm not sure why Abigail should get trashed the same way that Sami and Nicole did. Yeah, she's annoying and a cheater, but she's done nothing even remotely close to the horrible things Sami and Nicole have done. And personally, I'm glad that Chad isn't doing to her what EJ did to Sami. Rape, blackmail, letting her think her child was dead? Not things I enjoyed, even if I didn't care for Sami at the time.

Amen Tigerlynx, we know these characters better than Ken Corday...I also think that Nicole will get pregnant by Eric with Daniel the magnificent thinking the baby is his..Imagine the angst that Eric and Nicole will be experiencing because of that.The added stress of Nicole lying about her pregnancy will only add more stress to her high-risk pregnancy...I think it would be cool that Nicole gets her miracle baby at the most inopportune time..Plus, it gives Ericole a lifetime bond via their child..If Wilson can get a baby, why can't Nicole....

I don't really think Abigail needs to be trashed. I just personally enjoy making fun of her and seeing her humiliated when it happens (which for me doesn't happen enough -- at least the sex tape could have been show on a screen projector like EJ's and Kate's sex was). Yeah, a lot of characters aren't as bad as Sami and Nicole, but that necessarily doesn't make them less annoying. Brady is certainly not as bad as those two, but his lack of brains can be grating. Ditto for Abigail's obsession with the forbidden.

I get the impression that Sami and Nicole, for all of the stunts they have pulled, act primarily out of self-preservation and insecurity.. I think that they try do whatever it takes to get what they want, regardless of who they hurt.

 

Abigail, on the other hand, seems to say and do a lot of things primarily to hurt people, regardless of whether it gets her what she wants. I would almost argue that what she wants is to hurt people.

The writers didn't have to take Sami and EJ down the path that they did.  Or Sami/Lucas, Sami/Rafe, or EJ/Nicole.  There was no reason for eight years of EJ ruining Sami's life because she wouldn't do what he wanted, and then blaming Sami for it.

 

That won't happen with Slappy.  Everything will be Ben or Chad's fault, or maybe Zoe's.

I despise Abigail because she is an entitled narcissistic sociopath. I hate the fact that she acts superior to people that she feels that are beneath her like Theresa, Eve, Chloe, Sami e.t.c...Plus the actress brings nothing to the table to make me feel any sympathy to her plight..Whereas Sami and Nicole always made me feel sorry for them when they plotted and schemed against other people..I felt bad for Nicole when her baby switching scheme was revealed..Her scream when Sami told her that she was taking Sydney back from her gave me chills..That is how great Ari was in that storyline..

 

Plus, Nicole and Sami always pay for their mistakes..Abifail gets rewarded  for hers..She never paid for what she  did to Austin and Carrie. That was more reprehensible than sleeping with EJ. The writers favor Abifail and she never loses. Sami should have crushed her and Nick  like a bug, but the writers had to neuter Sami to make Abifail come out smelling like a rose....I never accepted that Nick would have been able to harrass Will with impunity,  without retaliation from Sami, Lucas, Kate, and Sonny...That never rang true for me. Tomsell had to dumb them down to make Nick a villain..

So, it's not really entertaining to watch a man tell a woman he thinks about strangling her every time he sees her (Brady to Theresa), or a man actually strangling a woman (X/Zander to Nicole), or a man putting his hands all over a woman to keep her from leaving (Daniel to Serena).  It's no wonder soaps have nearly died.  The misogyny is quite disturbing.

What Abigail did to Austin was pretty horrible. It's right up there with what Sami and Nicole have done, but they were punished for their sins while all Abigail got was a stern talking to from Jack (Jenn didn't even do that).

I did like the chemistry between JS and AS, but that was in spite of EJ and Sami's history, not because of it.

 

So I'm not interested in seeing Chad become like EJ either. I would have preferred a less harsh EJ. But I liked JS and just sort of dealt with what the writers were giving me (a horrible man). Thus, I'm not interested in seeing Chad torture Abigail through rape or stealing babies either. But I do  like it when he calls her on her shenanigans (i.e you slept with my brother!).

I just don't really get why Chad would continue to be interested in her after it was obvious she would have done anything to get into EJ's pants. Chad will always seem sort of inferior in Abigail's mind. All I can figure is that Chad has no other girls to date; therefore, he must fixate on Abigail. Ditto for Ben. She likes being caught between two men, but usually those guys have no other options. So she should cut the smug down.

I don't want Chad to become like EJ.  My point was, that no matter what Slappy does, how horrible she might get, Jar Jar will never get called on it, and no one will ever treat her the way Sami, Nicole, and Theresa have been because the boring twit is one of Ken Corday's pets.  Even though Slappy has already cheated on Ben, when this is all over, Ben will be the only bad guy in the SL, or Chad, Zoe, and Ben will be the bad guys.  Whatever Jar Jar does, she will be given a free pass.

 

There was no need to have Sami raped by Alan, EJ, and Fake Rafe.  There is no reason to bring up Nicole's porn past, which she was forced into.  Whenever Sami and EJ fought, he always got to remind her she shot him in the head.  Sami never got to remind him he raped her, and had Fake Rafe rape her.

Exactly Tigerlynx, I wanted Sami and Carrie to join forces to teach JarJar a lesson..Carrie unleashing her inner Anna would have been great to see, especially if her ruthlessness freaked Sami out..I always wanted the sisters to really forge a strong bond..For a long time, Carrie was a mother figure for Sami, when Marlena was gone...Carrie had the potential to be a great complex heroine and the show could have done so much with her..She is Roman and Anna's daughter. They never really explored her relationships with Anna and Tony..I always felt that the gemini twins, Rex and Cassie should have been Tony's and Anna's children. That is weird that they never had a kid together. Days always gives their popular couples children....Lucas and Cassie were hot together and it is too bad that they had to make them siblings and it was weird that Lumi shared siblings....

Chad and Theresa would be hot..They could be what Ejami and Xcole could have been; a dark power couple that hurt everybody, but each other....I think Philip and Theresa would be hot or with one of Sonny's brothers...Theresa and JJ  have alot of chemistry too....Jennifer Lilley  is a gem..If I had my way, I would have casted her as Stefanie Johnson, with her  natural blond hair, she looks like she could be  Stefanie or a blond Jeannie Donovan...I want the Brady cousins to mirror their mothers, but have their own dynamic...Theresa is not how I would have imagined Shane and Kim's daughter to be, it makes them look like bad parents..Jeannie should be more like Shane, while Andrew should be like Kim....

 

I wish  that Sherri Anderson was writing for the legacy children of the show because she had a hand in creating most of them. It would be interesting to see her take on them. She always wrote character-driven stories that respected history..She should have been rehired as headwriter alongside Higley and Griffith...She was also good at introducing new characters on the show, without shoving them down our throats...

How come I get the feeling that when Brady was listening to Theresa and then said he's gonna do what's best for Tate at the end, he means that in a negative way. Like he's gonna want full custody until Theresa knows how to better take care of a child. He heard her in the park with Anne saying how she's afraid she might drop him and she doesn't know anything because she never had the time to read a pregnancy book and raising a child thanks to Miss Rapey. Theresa was right to blow him off at the hospital, he always wants to speak to Theresa on his terms so glad she didn't engage and just walked out of the room. 

 

Theresa and Chad would be hot but I'm glad that Theresa isn't involved with him now because Stephono would be all up her ass or trying to break them up because Theresa doesn't belong to an unidentified species like Jar Jar. 

 

The elephant story can't end fast enough for me.

I appreciate knowing what happened during the scenes I'll be FFing, and I know from your recaps if there's even anything I want to watch at all that day. For instance, when I read your description of Xander brutalizing Nicole, I decided to skip the episode.

The slanted/biased writing does no one any favors.  It just makes me dislike the characters that are being propped.

The writers should have built on the truce Sami and Carrie made in 2010.  Sami and Carrie did not become enemies over night.  It was a process.  The writers could have done the reverse, and shown them growing close again.  Unfortunately, Ken Corday and the writers refuse to let any or the characters grow or evolve.  Most of these characters are heading into their 40s or are older, but TIIC want to continue to have them behave the way they did when they were teenagers/early 20s.  That's not a good look on anyone.

 

Theresa and Anne always have great scenes together.  More of those.  They can replace the man pushing some woman around all while telling her how horrible she is scenes.

 

Eric may have apologized today, but I know somewhere down the line, Nicole will be painted as the bad guy once again in the wrong simply because she walks out her front door in the morning.

Not only is Daniel the worst character since Ryan Lavery ruined AMC, Shawn Christian is just the baboon butt of acting talent.  He's the worst.  Can't say any lines in any different intonation, can't walk without a strut, no subtlety of any sort.  Total b.s. that he's a leading man.

So until Show turns him back into a human being, he can suck eggs too.

 

With any luck Nicole will lock Daniel in that storage room with Eric and they can consummate their bromance.

Here is a recap

Eve manipulates Marlena, Anne offers Theresa help being a mother, Brady learns about Theresa's fears and Paige shocks Bev.

Anne stops Theresa from going into Tate's room at the hospital. Theresa bats at her hands when she fusses with the hem of Theresa's dress, suggesting her friend show a little leg because Brady's inside. Inside Tate's room, Maggie assumes he and Theresa will want to bring the baby to the mansion. He shuts her down. He wants nothing to do with Theresa. He's protecting his son, not wanting Tate to ever see his rage for Theresa. Maggie can't argue with that.

At the house, JJ takes a call from Rory. There's a kegger at the park - and babes! JJ doesn't care about babes. He just wants Paige. They disconnect and Jenn tells her son he needs to accept that things are over between him and Paige. He knows his hopes are stupid and thanks her for not giving up on him.

At the pub, Kayla worries about Paige but Paige insists she's fine and asks for a letter of recommendation so she can work the night shift at the yoghurt shop. She doesn't want to work at the hospital for fear of seeing Jenn, Abby or JJ.

From home, Eve continues research on Laura Horton. She gasps. "Looks like loony Laura's doctor was Dr. Marlena Evans!"

From her office, Marlena leaves Eric a concerned message asking her son to call her.

Daniel grabs Serena at her place and demands she tell him what she knows about Eric and Nicole. She's silent and he guesses it has to do with the elephant statue and smuggling and assumes Nicole figured it all out. He threatens to call the police. He'll be sure to tell Eric that when the chips were down, she did nothing to aid him. Daniel takes off with her at his heels.

At Titan TV, Xander is pissed when he can't find Nicole and Eric. He booms, "I will find you and once I do I will exterminate you." Nearby, Eric and Nicole quietly hide. Xander yells that he should have wasted them when he had the chance. Nicole asks why Eric showed up. He fills her in about the blood diamonds. He's so sorry. They hug. Meanwhile, Xander and Navidad return to Nicole's office. Xander listens to Eric's messages and realizes Serena has said something to worry Eric's mother. While Navidad finds Eric and Nicole, Xander texts Daniel with Eric's phone and says his phone is almost dead but to meet him and Nicole in Chicago. Back in the basement, Nicole shares her plan to seduce Xander to get the goods on him and Serena. Eric feels awful for thinking she was jealous and issues a heartfelt apology. Just then, Xander pounds on the door.

Back at the hospital, Anne says since Brady's "main squeeze is gone he's going to need somebody to scratch is itch." Theresa doesn't want to deal with Brady. Eve pops up. They argue about going in to see the baby but when Eve sees Marlena, she follows her into her office and asks for therapy. She puts on an act and talks about wanting to die. Marlena gets her an appointment for the next day. Eve fakes a coughing fit and while Marlena gets her water, she scours Doc's computer for information on Laura Horton. In the hall, Marlena receives a text from Xander as Eric, telling his mom he just needs space. Meanwhile, Jenn turns up in Marlena's office and catches Eve red-handed!

Theresa and Anne eat yoghurt in the park. Anne gloats about how she caught a ride on the money train but Theresa says Tate's the most important thing to her. She laments that she knows nothing about taking care of a baby. Brady eavesdrops as she worries she'll be a terrible mother. Anne thinks she should call her mom but Theresa doesn't want that, and it's not as if she can lean on her sister. Anne asks her to lean on her. Theresa's surprised. "Auntie Anne. I'll help ya raise the little Tater-Tot. We'll become good mommies. We'll learn together." Theresa's weirded out but thanks her friend.

JJ bumps into Paige in the square. She accuses him of stalking her. He was going to apply at the yoghurt shop. This really gets her back up and she assumes his Aunt Kayla told him she was applying. JJ stammers over his denial. He runs off and Bev appears. Paige tells her to buzz off. When she doesn't, Paige fills her in on what JJ did. Bev's aghast.

Theresa returns to the hospital and Brady finds her singing to the baby. She jumps up and apologizes. She'll go. He just wants to talk but she has nothing to say. She walks out. He tells his son he'll do what's right for him no matter what he feels.

On the next Days of our Lives:

Jenn's suspicious of Eve.

Will's plan starts falling apart.

They have to make him a jerk to justify Failures cheating and lies. The writing isn't very nuanced.

I don't think its cool or intelligent what he's doing. The problem is Ben did have the heads up about Abigail and chose to ignore it so can't get manipulative or mad that everything he was informed about came to pass. If a person gets with a habitual liar and cheater he should not be shocked when it happens to him too. Talk about conceited.

When he continues to spy on Failure she will obviously use this as a motivation to slap Ben then jump on another guy's peen because that's how she rolls. Then she will do some sort of the same to Chad. She really is happiest playing 2 guys off each other or part of a cheating scenario in some way. Ben can leave at anytime and so can his child rapist father. I wouldn't mind if Abby left too but I'm not that hopeful.

Xander and Serena are insane.

I'm mostly not watching these days, but do plan to give the show another try when the returnees arrive, so I read your recaps every day to keep up on the storylines.   I certainly can understand if you find it too time-consuming.  But if you enjoy writing them, I for one enjoy reading them.

Can we really blame Ben for putting it on her app? I mean seriously Jar Jar will find any excuse to go run over to Chad's house and the fact that she cheated on him, I can turn a blind eye to him putting the app on her phone. It's Jar Jar so whatever misery comes her way I'll enjoy. 

 

When Abifail gets exposed for once again being a nasty rodent she'll be able to avoid taking any responsibility because Ben is a creep and therefore deserved to get cheated on. It doesn't even matter that she won't find out about the tracking app until after she had already banged Chad. It was really frustrating watching Nicole and Eric stand around talking, while the main power button to the entire building was literally staring them in the face. "Oh, dear, we have to wait till morning!" No, idiots. Push that button and you'll have to wait ten minutes max before the entire city comes to investigate why a network television station lost power.

I thought yesterday's show was well done! @blanchowens, Serena's crazy eyes were awesome! A lot of people, including myself, commented early in her run that she always had the crazy eyes. Little did we know the level of cray cray she could achieve!

 

I agree with the line of thinking that Brady seemed sympathetic to Theresa when he was skulking about listening to her and Anne. He definitely wasn't sympathetic towards Anne, but when Theresa was talking I thought I was seeing a break in the hostility.

 

I wish Nicole had gotten one I-told-you-so in on Eric before excusing his treatment of her. Although I guess given their past, she doesn't have much of a leg to stand on. But still. I wonder if that Main Power Override button they keep standing in the shot with is going to come into play soon.

 

Navidad continues to be a source of entertainment for me - her line readings are so strange and the way she emphasizes and stretches some syllables always catches my attention.

So in the brief period when Xander was unconscious, Eric used that time to question Nicole about her decision process.  My favorite was that he said "Why didn't you call the police?  Why didn't you tell Daniel?" like these were equally strong choices.  Then he donned his hair shirt and made it all about him - he let Nicole down and that's why they are in this situation.  No, you're in this situation because when he was unconscious you stood over him having a discussion about choices and feelings.  Take the gun, take the cell and tie him the f### up.

Exactly Tigerlynx, we can say that about all of the characters on this show..Noone makes any sense anymore..Everything and everyone is a plot point and nonsensical. Daytime drama when written, produced, acted and directed properly excels at character-driven storylines. Once you have people start behaving out of character for the sake of the plot, you will lose your audience....
