A friend of mine posted this link on facebook: http://mysteriousuniverse.org/2016/07/signs-your-boss-may-be-a-psychopath/

I'll be damned if it doesn't sound like Bethenny

Quote

Vincent lists the telltale signs of a psychopath:

1. Superficial Charm – They are highly charismatic with entertaining personalities.
2. They lie a lot -They have a gift of gab and can talk their way out of lies.
3. Manipulative – They are con-men who are well-connected and get others to do their dirty work.
4. Bragging – They are very arrogant and view themselves as superior to others and above reproach.
5. Lack of Remorse – They are ruthless, stepping over others to get ahead and enjoy doing so.
6. Shallow and Cold – They are very unemotional.
7. Zero Empathy – They are selfish and take pleasure in verbally abusing and belittling others.
8. Lacking Responsibility – They blame others for mistakes while taking credit for others’ success.

I got the impression that Beth called her mother (obviously out of the blue) and put Bryn on the phone.  How awkward for both of them.  It's like yeah, you have this other grandmother.  Say hello.  Short conversation (because neither know what say) and say goodbye.  See Bryn, that's your grandmother.  If she really wanted Bryn to have some sort of relationship with her grandmother, she could have set up a little get together (for ice cream or something simple) and have the nanny bring her.

I can get Bernadette's feelings to a great degree regarding this whole thing.  Beth doesn't want Bryn to get to know her grandmother.  Bernadette knows Beth is one cold-hearted bitch.  She publicly used her mother to boost herself as a victim.  One really has to wonder how bad her childhood actually was given Beth's descriptions of her recent health situation among other things.  The woman tends to exaggerate....greatly.  Sure, Bernadette is being harsh regarding the relationship with her daughter but  Beth is even more so.

I am thinking Bryn is probably pretty sharp-how weird must it have been to have mom answer-"yes, you have another grandma, let's call her on the phone."  I guess the next question would be, "wanna meet the gangster man who use to beat Grandma Bernadette?"  At least Bryn knows now in her mommy's world, it is okay not to speak to your mother if you get mad at her. How do you explain that you just have never introduced your child to a grandparent?

Bethenny complained about moving 13 times while growing up.  I am thinking little Bryn has seen a fair number of homes (including being rich homeless) in the first five years of her life.

Regardless of the dialogue that took place between Bernadette, Bethenny and Bryn, it would have probably been best left private.

And Bethanny's hash tag is #Shameless (I thought she was just acurately describing herself) and they visited the Shameless house when they were there.

She's not nearly as funny as she thinks she is.

She's amusing herself at someone else's expense...always. Check out the dig at Ramona...you are 1983 re her diaphragm story...knowing that Ramona's whole effort is to appear younger than springtime. We all have our cherished delusions, but Ramona's are such an easy target. And this is from a woman who wears a suit with power shoulders from the 80s herself. Self-aware, not old Beth. And if any of the wives took similar shots at Beth, it would bring on a repeat of the Berkshires rampage.

Well this is confusing then.  https://www.instagram.com/p/BG2l6eFDQSc/

That is Carole's twitter. Bethenny posted the same picture on her twitter. It looks to me like Bethenny is wearing the same clothes in the twitter picture as she is in the yoga head stand picture. It also looks like the yoga picture is in the same area, a porch maybe, as the steps that Bethenny and Carole are sitting on. They were in Chicago in June, so I think the photo of the headstand is current. I guess tbt doesn't have to be that far in the past, in Bethenny's case?

Good catch, stewed.  They were at the Shameless house on June 19. Less than a month after her major abdominal surgery. Kadooz if she did a headstand without ripping open her incision and/or causing more internal scar tissue.  Good for her although I have to ask...why would she need to drop her purse, right there on the landing and do that?

First there was the comment about padlocking the closet-I wonder if any of that even fazes Ramona. I thought it funny when Carole looked at Ramona and said, "you don't still use it?"  Referencing her age.  They all love the Sex and the City, comparisons and that is what Carrie used, a diaphragm.

There are some things that fall flat and the brassiere thing was just unfunny.  Ramona even pronounced it correctly.   The royal hair made no sense either, but it sure is a bone of contention for Bethenny.

Yea that is for sure at the Shameless house and taken recently. I live in Chicago and recognize those stairs and the landing.

Also she has the same outfit in both and its the same lighting.

My (quite young) friend had surgery for bad fibroids and couldn't do yoga / work out for a few weeks. Is that normal? Since Beth is doing head stands and cartwheels within 3 wks of the surgery.

Bethenny can lie, exaggerate and slander her mother on Bravo and in the press as a celeb-- and her mother cannot defend herself? I think she should, although it isn't pretty and doesn't help matters.

There is a perfectly reasonable person who is normal, professional and wonderful who was uber close to Bethenny's father who I will not name, who could cut thru all this BS. This person would be too classy to speak but man I wish we could get the deets. I have no doubt this person would shoot down Bethenny's entire fantasy land personna she thinks she's selling successfully. I'd name them but it would create hell in this person's quiet existence and profession. Things take time, people eventually show their own ass- and Bethenny is showing hers it is all coming out.

II'm also of the opinion that B's mother has a right to comment and give her side of things. She's been used as a storyline and now as a diversion for bad behavior so why shouldn't she comment? I'm sure she was no great prize, but neither is her daughter. They are now both grown women. If it bothers B that her mother comments on her antics, then she should stop talking about her publicly. She manages to keep her married boyfriend out of conversation. What I find really disturbing is she is not only using her mother but she is also using her very young child. I feel bad for that little girl.

There's something that's been bothering me.  At one point, Bethenny pointed out that, prior to the surgery, her uterus had "increased by 50%."  Elsewhere, she said it had "nearly doubled in size."  I think Bethenny may think that those two things are the same.  But basic math dictates that they are not

I recognize that in the greater scheme of things - and even in the greater scheme of this show - this makes no difference, but it's been gnawing at me.  Thank you for allowing me to get it off my chest.

People who have eating disorder issues I have noticed are super into measuring everything, the size of everything, the amount of, the degree of, as well as anything that has to do with increasing and their body.

That New Yorker article was a great piece. Beth never mentioned really mentoring her co-stars, the author did. Still it was one sentence in a really good article. Anyone interested in Beth - love her or hate her - I recommend it. It explains better than anything I've read how her business works and why she is successful.

The thing with the mentoring is interesting, and I think it shows how the goal post moves with Beth. That really a lot of folks hate her and will always hate her or look for new reasons to hate her. On this very forum, there were literally tons of comments from folks proclaiming that Beth had never mentored Sonja. Sonja was saying it (I even quote from Sonja's blog where she made the assertion), and others said "no way". This is Sonja being confused. I believe several folks said that perhaps Sonja didn't know the meaning of the word "mentor" because she was using it wrong. They were just work friends, nothing more. She never mentored her. She took her to one meeting last season. I believe the assertion was that she took her to the meeting more for herself than she did for Beth. Others claimed she was hateful and rude to Sonja when she attended the business meeting. Hardly mentoring. Now Beth is saying that she wasn't Sonja's mentor and that is "spin", even though this is what the vast majority of folks were saying just a few episodes ago. Beth hate is heavy. Beth has said from the beginning that she was pissed at Sonja because she was trying to use her. Use their relationship and Beth's brand as her storyline. Because she knew that it would get press and attention. She is saying the same thing now. Sonja is trying to act like they had some type of arrangement, and use it to explain why she is shocked that Beth is upset. How could Sonja have known that Beth would be upset with someone she had mentored? They were so close. Sonja thought it was a compliment and Beth would take it as such. Of course it's all bullshit and I don't see any way in which it has changed.

Maybe she meant 'role model' rather than mentor? Beth doesn't even seem to get all that wasted as far as drinking, her emphasis is on the 'skinny' while Sonia's is on being the party girl. I don't know how many scenes I have seen where Beth blows into some event, then always bails early, while one gets the feeling Morgan shuts the place down every time. Who knows whether Morgan was trying to 'steal' Beth's  (whatever)Girl brand idea or if that was all fabricated and soon Sonia will be saying 'new business idea, ditching tipsygirl'...Also Beth does seem to have this 'we'll be friends after I beat you up and show my alpha position' not unlike some girl bullies, who want to be friends but only after they have kicked your ass and reduced you to tears or whatever. I just didn't think Sonia was important enough for Beth to even sweat, hence why even have that scene be on the show, who even knew re Morgan's drinks before that, so in essence, it does help Sonia to even have had that much on the show.

Um Bethenny, why the need to go in an trash Jules about her home ownership? WTF did she ever do to you? Are you threatened that she is really a skinny girl or something?  She is an admitted anorexic, her marriage is a wreck and all you have done is criticize her, her husband, and her home openly.  Back off.

I read it as more eating disorder competitiveness. Meaning threatened by Jules, not even personally but as a potential new and maybe even skinnier girl. Other than that one thing and age, Jules doesn't have the wackiness and humorousbite Beth has and Jules is way more trying to get accepted and fit in than the Queen B ever was. It's almost a waste of time for Q-B to go after anyone who isn't on her level with her quick mind and zinger mouth, it doesn't make for good tv bitchiness, it just seems mean unless she has a worthy opponent. A Q-B vs Dorinda might be fun if D comes out swinging and doesn't get too drunk and start crying. Beth vs Lu might fall flat as Lu will speak in her therapist voice and Beth will just give her the blank stare of death, as Lu gives her nothing to play off.  Beth vs Ramona might be fun as both are so animated.  Beth vs Carole or Jules, blah. No way. Funny how TV bitch chemistry works.

As much as people assume Bethenny holds the reigns to the franchise it survived several seasons without her and her return last year didn't have the ratings uptake she predicted.  Sometimes there can be too much Bethenny.   She and Carole aren't all that great TV together.

From the New Yorker article: " Fans quote her “Bethenny-isms,” brassy sayings such as “Get off my jock!”

Gosh, New Yorker writer, got any actual names of said "fans"?  Cuz I'd sure like to meet them, these people who wander the world throwing down brassy Bethenny-isms, eagerly quoting their guru on the subway  ("Get off my jock, you whore!") or in the ten and under lane ("You have eleven items, you slut!!") or at the PTA ("SLUT WHORE SLUT!") I'd love to meet these folksy folks  -- dropping mics and Frankel witticisms -- and living on Planet Bethenny, a magical place somewhere between the feels of Emily in "Our Town" and the murderous rage of Vern in  "Oz".

As god is my witness, I am not saying this to be mean. It's all in the puffy jacket and up-do.

There is a crack whore that roams the business area near the Kroger. When I see her I will burst into uncontrollable fits of laughter after I roll down the window and yell out, "BETTHENY!!!!"

I do need to admit to one thing?

In one previous episode, I was looking at her and she really looked relaxed and kinda attractive.

Then I remembered a 'mom-ism' - it translates to "A devil/evil in the image of a human being".

After the first two, we know what you look like.

It would be MORE interesting if you had three breasts or better hair? Otherwise?

I laugh every time I hear people trying to make us believe that their name/products are a 'brand'.

It's been done, when you aspire to be like someone (Martha Stewart), you better show up with your 'a' game.

Martha Stewart would address her fibroids like this......

Open the show showing you how to make a tea to replenish the fluids you have lost.

The next segment would be a doctor on set to talk about fibroids and the options for treatement.

The next bit would have to do with being caught out without a tampon/napkin and using packets of Splenda and straw wrappers to get by until you get home.

The last segment is about getting blood out of fabrics/pillows and the end of the program would be Martha getting wheeled into the operating room for her surgery..

With a little wave while she tells us that the surgery will be on next week's show and tell us that "Surgery, it's a Good Thing"?

I 100% agree that women should refrain from commenting on one another's bodies, including Bethenny. I'd love it if we all stopped commenting on women's bodies (and men's) unprompted. But, who cares how many bikini pics a woman chooses to post of herself?

God I'm having flashbacks to Yolanda.  See how sick I am.  Now we have see me in a bikini with a ring on my left hand.  I wonder who's taking the pictures of her using her phone so Beth can upload to them to her instagram account.  Speaking of Yo, wouldn't it be fun to see a reality show of Beth and Yo on a desert island?  Can you imagine the conversations (aka contests)?

It would be unprompted if Bethenny hadn't felt free to make the body of a woman with an ED a topic of conversation. But with that in play,  I figure the oldest antidote to a bully -- a dose of their own medicine -- is the quickest cure. It's amazing how quickly people shut up, once you subject them to their own standards.

Quote from @motorcitymom65 in episode thread (sorry, can't figure out how to copy/quote and paste comments to different thread)

"When Heather didn't invite Ramona to London, that was a huge deal. Heather was a newbie. They were 7 or 8 episodes into her first season, and Ramona was a veteran.  She said she did it because of her business. She was unsure of how Ramona would behave, and her business was important to her. She got hammered for that back in the day. People saying that it had nothing to do with her business. What could Ramona do to harm her business? People thought it was in response to Ramona being a bitch to Heather in her first episode. Heather was said to be trying to get back at her. I thought it was sheer perfection. Based on that alone, if Heather honestly believed that someone was coming for her business, she would avoid them like crazy, just like Beth did. "

To me that kind of says that she felt threatened by Ramona's behavior but not by Bethy's competing (?) shape-wear line. Even when Bethy offers her own advice to Heather?

And this allabouthetea article exposes B's hypocrisy, imho.

Fom Bethy's own blog entry:

"I find that on Housewives shows, being invited or not invited to something tends to be blown out of proportion, dragged out and takes on a life of itself. This concept is exhausting to me, and I knew exactly where Heather was going. It felt manufactured to stir up drama."

I don't think she can have it both ways.

That article reminded me that B has been really coarse and full of herself for longer than I realized. It just seems worse his season. But I was actually able to watch more last season.

On her radio show, she called her costars stupid and criticized the show, then she back pedaled and said it was a great Epi(prompted by a producer, IMO)

imo, she is super smug but also self sabotaging.

in her mind, she is too good for the show ( same goes with Carole) however she needs to be on to promote her line and get that check.

Also, I believe that Jason settled for what he asked for and this is why she is so fucking angry and anxious at the same time to keep the dough coming in.

Well, her Jim Beam gravy train payoff could roll to a stop because of her own self-sabotage.

She stands to gain something like a $20million payoff if she keeps her sales up and they are already down 26%. About the worst JB performer.

It could be hypocritical, but it also be the most consistent thing in the world. I know that both things involve inviting/excluding others, but I don't think that is the point. The point is the manufacturing of drama.

Beth has always said the same thing as far back as I can remember - including interviews she did when she joined the show. That she absolutely hates the idea that someone is manufacturing drama for the show and involving her in that drama.  That was the deal with Jill. She made up friction with Beth for a storyline. Beth thought that Heather was trying to create drama with the invite. I didn't agree that she was, but Beth believed that she was. She felt like Heather was trying to make it into something bigger just to start drama involving Beth. She thinks the same thing about Sonja now. That this endeavor isn't really real. That Sonja is just doing it for a storyline, and using Beth as part of her storyline for the drama.

I don't think that she is bothered by the very nature of someone having to find a storyline. They all do this. She has done this. You work with what you have, and often times ramp up the boring to make it more interesting on TV. Her issue comes when people drag her into a storyline for drama.

It's actually a pretty consistent point of view that has endured for the most part since the beginning.

Beth has to be suffering from extreme low self-esteem, and it's presenting as narcissism, right? I have to think that somewhere, deep down, she's realized that she is a lonely, mean person, with very few friends, who has hurt a lot of people, and it's largely her fault -- but she doesn't know how to deal with her realizations and resulting emotions. Maybe she even fears it's too late to change and build friendships (it's never too late!)?

I also think there is a disconnect between Beth, the business woman, and Beth. To some degree, Beth's success was partly luck, and her business doesn't necessarily take mega-intelligence, but it does take loads of hustle -- which is great. No shame in that. Please, I could use a healthy dose of hustle (and a healthy dose of intelligence, for that matter!). But, I think her fans have put her on a pedestal: "Wow! She's SOOOOOO Smart!" (just because she made a lot of money). But Beth knows the truth deep down - that she is of average intelligence with a biting sense of humor. Nothing wrong with that; but it doesn't match her public persona. Could she be feeling like a phony, and that's manifesting itself in ways that present as self-absorbing, when really it's her awkwardly trying to mold to some smart, sassy role ... and failing?

I'm trying to be generous, because I just don't understand how someone could be as pathologically solipsistic as Beth appears to be without an underlying, more sympathetic root reason. Is she so jumbled and scared that her self-absorption is almost an instinctual defense mechanism?

If that is indeed the case I think Bethy has to stop thinking the world revolves around her.

And stop "manufacturing drama". Though I think she's deluded herself into thinking that she owns the drama.

Clueless.

I do think the only reason she came back on the show is because Beam told her to...they wanted the free publicity. Her deal with Andy seems to include product placement in every episode.  If the sales for Beam are slipping, that's a problem. But acting out and having screaming rampages is hardly consistent with trying to sell  the brand. You'd think the marketing department would have a word with her. And her bestie Carole has reneged on her book deal, and her editor has walked. Neither of them seems to realize that their behavior reflects on their business interests.

Well, her Jim Beam gravy train payoff could roll to a stop because of her own self-sabotage.

She stands to gain something like a $20million payoff if she keeps her sales up and they are already down 26%. About the worst JB performer.

Is there anyone less self-aware?

She can spin it by saying that she still has 74% sales?

Bethy seems like a person who is entirely uncomfortable in her own skin, and in her own life.  She carries it in the form of tension that she brings into every room she walks into, every conversation she has, and everything she does.  She should reach out to all those people who gave her recommendations for every "vagina doctor" in NY and ask for recommendations for excellent therapists.  Failing that, Carole should introduce her to some pot and see if that helps to wind her down a little.
