This thread is about feels, right?

Does anyone else feel the irony of tRump saying that other countries (Israel and Iran) "don't know what the fuck they're doing"?

Talk about projection.

I would argue Israel knows exactly what it is doing.   Bribing US lawmakers for years to do their bidding.

Oh, fuck off, McConnell.

Tell you what, if seniors like my mom don't get to benefit from Medicare/Medicaid, then we need to take your government healthcare away from you as well. Let's see how you fare without it. You'll get over it, I'm sure, just like the rest of us peasants apparently have to.

US strikes on Iran’s nuclear sites only set back program by months, Pentagon report says

I hope you're all sitting down because according to this report Herr Trump may have been wrong.  I know, I was shocked too.

Findings by Defense Intelligence Agency suggest Trump’s declaration that sites were ‘obliterated’ may be overstated

An initial classified US assessment of Donald Trump’s strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities over the weekend says they did not destroy two of the sites and likely only set back the nuclear program by a few months, according to two people familiar with the report.

He doesn't care because he isn't running again.  But he is wrong.  In safe red districts and states maybe incumbents get away with it but in competitive races they are going to get hammered in ads against them.

Shocked Futurama GIF

Gosh, it's almost like there's a reason we leave these kinds of big, significant decisions to people who actually have the training and expertise in such matters and thus know what the hell they're doing, or something.

Bang up job as usual, Trump.

We need a "sheesh, what a moron" button for Drumpf's screw ups.

Trump never admits he is wrong so Iran should now be able to keep their nuclear program going because according to Trump he blew it up.

Fuck Off Mitch.  From a brief search, it looks like over 1/4 of Kentucky citizens are on Medicaid.

When he was trying to repeal the ACA he told people in Kentucky it wouldn't affect Kentucky's state exchange.  Which of course was part of the ACA. He has such contempt for the people that voted for him he lies to their face.

Tourist Claims He Was Denied Entry to U.S. Because of Vance Meme on Phone

A Norwegian tourist has accused American authorities of denying him entry into the U.S. because he had a popular meme of Vice President JD Vance saved on his phone.

Mads Mikkelsen, 21, told his hometown newspaper Nordlys that he was subjected to “abuse of power and harassment” by officials at Newark Liberty International Airport.

I really don't want to blame the victim here but I do have to ask why anyone would want to visit the US right now??  I mean seriously.  Canada, among many other countries has issued travel warnings to their citizens.

Cuomo had said in the event of his loss, he'd run as an independent on the ballot in November so he ain't going away just yet lol

Still it's a noteworthy victory and I'm glad I was wrong - voter turnout this year was higher than in 2021. And people who took the time to vote in a Dem primary election for the first time increased - from 3% to 25%. Primary elections are typically low turnout so that's pretty good.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh, yay, good for Mamdani! I saw an interview with him on Colbert last night and really liked what he had to say on there and was impressed with him in general, so this news makes me happy. If I lived in New York City, I'd have happily voted for him.

Good luck to Mamdani in November!

From what it seems so far most of the post-election special elections/mayoral races seem to have gone way of the Dems. In no way do I want to put the cart before the horse because *gestures all around* but that sounds cautiously positive for the midterms...?

This is assuming we make it that far. We could have a different kind of government by November 2026, in either direction. The guy running this country doesn’t care if any American lives or dies, and he’s surrounded by folks that no nothing but enable him.

This is also assuming Trump is alive and/or still president by November 2026.

Having seen 2 parents go downhill physically over 10 years until they were each 91, I'm not holding my breath for YKW to leave the planet. But at least he won't still be live barking in another 25 years when my grandkids are adults.

I really hope this election goes well and can finally prove to the centrist establishment Democrats that a progressive candidate can win if they take the risk.

I don't even think they have to take a risk.  Progressive policies, especially economic ones, are overwhelming popular with voters. People want affordable health care and housing.  They want the rich to pay more taxes.  They want social security strengthened not cut.  What just happened in NYC Republicans and the Democratic establishment better take note.

I am watching Hakeem Jeffries on Morning Joe. He seems to have his practiced answers and hand gestures well-rehearsed and down pat (no matter the question). He is terrible but the Dems don't seem to have the will or courage to replace him. Even as we suffer at the polls. Same as it ever was.

My mother was watching Chris Cuomo last night.  It was before his brother lost and he was upset about some poll or something that identified AOC as the face of the Democratic party.  She only had 10% but that was more than the other Dems. Then he goes on a rant about how AOC isn't a real Democrat and that his father (always name dropping Mario) was a real Democrat.  I hope him and his brother begin to realize out of touch they are.

Agree.  They seem to be clueless and/or useless.  Where is Shumer when the Senate is debating the Big Bad Bill?  Silent?

You Know Who would freak out at the latest limited menu at McDonald's in Canada.  We just added a few international favourites like Biscoff McFlurrys from Belgium and McPizza (!!!!!) bites from Italy.  I'm not sure how long it's here for.

I think the most McDonalds fun to be had would be a buffet of international offerings.

I really want the BBB to fail. Meanwhile I think about posting this or that nee horror, but tired today. So many horrors.

My “Feels” about RFK Jr., his agenda, and his enabler are: Disgusted, nauseated, and sickened:

Quote

The United States will withdraw its financial support of Gavi, the global organization that helps purchase vaccines for children in poor countries, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the United States secretary of Health and Human Services, told the group’s leaders on Wednesday, accusing them of having “ignored the science” in immunizing children around the world.

Mr. Kennedy made the incendiary remarks in a brief, prerecorded video message sent overnight to a gathering of health ministers and other leaders in Brussels focused on raising funds to support the work of Gavi. It was to be played for the group later on Wednesday.…

Meanwhile, Bill Gates should get a Nobel.
One of over 300 comments on the article:

In the meantime, yesterday, the Gates Foundation announced a commitment of US$1.6 billion over the next five years to support Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance—one of the most effective mechanisms for delivering lifesaving vaccines to children and preventing disease in the world’s most vulnerable communities.…

But Bill Gates’ donated billions would go a lot further if they didn’t have to clean up after the 💩left by RFK Jr and his ilk.

For the most part politicians on both sides of the aisle toe the line of protecting Israel at all costs.  Doesn’t it seem a little strange that people who can’t even agree on the sky being blue pretty much all agree on this??

What really grinds my gears with RFK, Jr. and the whole anti-vax movement is how they immediately changed their goals as soon as that asshole got confirmed. It used to be about personal choice and giving parents the opportunity to choose for their children which is total bullshit with no reputable science to back up anything. But hey, at least those who choose to vaccinate could still do so. Why does this need to change? At the rate we are going, pretty soon all vaccines will be pulled from the shelves in the US. We are going to have back alley vaccine clinics sprouting up to service those who cannot fly to a foreign country.

I also fear this administration and the MAHA movement will soon move to ban sunscreen. I have been seeing too many influencers spouting off nonsense online about how sunscreen causes melanoma. And while I do support some changes when it comes to sunscreen, I am now fearing them going too far. Really all I want is for sunscreen to not be classified as a drug so companies can use the filters readily available in Asia, Australia, and Europe.

I won't be surprised if milk pasteurization is the next thing to go.

What RFK Jr believes isn't even junk science.  It's just junk.

I don't know how far down the raw milk rabbit hole, but the stupidity there is astounding. I have seen some raw milk proponents talk about how their milk is safe because they do take it home and boil it themselves to kill off the bad bacteria. They do not understand the process of pasteurization which does the same thing at a lower temperature. But commercial pasteurization is bad. It's actually pretty hilarious. And I think the whole MAHA movement and raw milk really stems from people being upset with the current food chain here in the States and also not understanding it. They want to drink the milk from local dairies and not whatever it is that Walmart sells. They also want to eat the produce grown in their local area and want a local butcher shop that buys meats from local farmers. They are just going about this the wrong way and are mad at the wrong people about this.
