The clue itself would have been fine, but the FJ category name should have been "College Sports Geography" or something similar. 1 Link to comment

Or someone like me, who doesn't know anything about sports, who just picked Columbia because I knew it was in the south east, and figured that name had to have been used elsewhere. I don't know anything about sports. It was a Hail Mary pass - and I was surprised when I was right. illdoc October 25 Share October 25 Week 7: 0/5 Overall: 15/35 3* Really not my day today: Not only did I not get FJ (earning me my first 0/5 week this season), but I didn't get Wordle (3rd day in a row), only 2 rows in Connections, and 1:33 on the (timed) mini crossword (I often do under 30 seconds and certainly under a minute normally). Sigh. 3 1 Link to comment
Prevailing Wind October 25 Share October 25 Checking FJ in "thejeopardyfan," I have broken my 3/5 streak and got TWO this week, but one of 'em was the only asterisk! How the hell I remembered Pentecost from Sunday School, I'll never understand. I gave up on Connections. I do play Wordle. A few weeks ago, the Wordle was my starting word, so I got ii in one! LOL I play four daily games - Wordle, Globle-game, its sister Globle Capitals, and worldledaily.com. Earlier this week, I got all four games in 5 guesses each. I think I should've gone out & gotten a Powerball ticket with all numbers ending in 5. LOL 3 1 Link to comment
ams1001 October 25 Share October 25 My first perfect week...perfectly round, that is. Week 7: 0/5 YTD: 12/35 (34%) with 2* 'Tis the season for apple cider donuts from a local orchard (which also makes the best apple pies). If you go at the right time you can get one hot and fresh out of the fryer...you don't even have to go inside (they have a window that opens onto the walkway leading to the door but it's never open when I'm there). 30 minutes ago, illdoc said: Week 7: 0/5 Overall: 15/35 3* Really not my day today: Not only did I not get FJ (earning me my first 0/5 week this season), but I didn't get Wordle (3rd day in a row), only 2 rows in Connections, and 1:33 on the (timed) mini crossword (I often do under 30 seconds and certainly under a minute normally). Sigh. I used all but one of my chances on today's Wordle, I cheated at Connections (the site Mashable has a page where they give you a hint in the form of the categories in other words, and if you can't get it from that you can scroll further down and get the actual categories, and if even that doesn't help you can scroll to the end and get the answer; I got it from the first set of hints, at least). The Mini took me 2:38 (I am more in line with your times normally; my record is 11 seconds but that was a 4x4 puzzle. My record on a full 5x5 is 12. Both of those were a long time ago). It was a terrible game day. 22 minutes ago, Prevailing Wind said: A few weeks ago, the Wordle was my starting word, so I got ii in one! LOL The first time I ever played Wordle, I got it in one. Hasn't happened since. (The word was PANIC, which might give you an idea of my state of mind at the time.) 3 2 Link to comment

SoMuchTV October 26 Share October 26 2/5, no *. I was hesitant to take credit for Monday, since it only came to me as the wrong responses were being revealed, but then Friday was a true Hail Mary, so I figure that’s a sign, right? 3 1 Link to comment
Clanstarling October 26 Author Share October 26 Week 7 – October 21 – One Asterisk 31. ITALIAN WORDS & PHRASES - This theme tackled in art by Bellini & Michelangelo isn't explicitly mentioned in the Bible, but is part of the "Seven Sorrows of Mary" (Pieta) (Clan’s note – means “Compassion” according to Google translate. It is obviously a depiction of the sixth sorrow – Mary receives the body of Jesus – so I’m not sure about the translation) 32. DETECTIVE AUTHORS - For much of the 1920s, he lived on Eddy Street in San Francisco's Tenderloin District (Dashiell) Hammet 33. *THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH - This day involving the Holy Spirit & the Apostles is sometimes described as the "birthday" of the Church (Pentecost) 34. ON THE U.K. MUSIC CHARTS - "Candle In The Wind 1997" knocked this song that asked a title question from the top spot as the U.K.'s all-time bestselling song (Do They Know It’s Christmas) 35. U.S. HISTORY - The largest land deal in U.S. history was formalized in a building at this spot, now named for a military hero & president (Jackson Square) 3 Link to comment

30 Helens October 26 Share October 26 (edited) Do they know it's... bagel time?? Pizza bagels, that is! (0/5, if that wasn't obvious) I play Wordle, Connections, Strands and NYT crossword every morning. I hate getting up, and I find that puzzles are a great way to procrastinate without feeling bad about it. (Brain health is important, too!) Connections is my favorite. Edit: Oh! And Spelling Bee! I love Spelling Bee. Although I usually play that around 3am. (I hate going to bed, too.) I don’t allow myself to sleep until I at least get to Genius. Bliss October 26 Share October 26 2/5 Add me to the brain gym list. Being a proud Canuck, I also do Canuckle - the Cdn version of Wordle (the creator is a family friend). I absolutely love the mornings when I'm told I'm "Perfect!" by Connections ;-) On super-duper-procrastination mornings, I even do Tiles. Bringing Qwirkle and Codenames (two of my fave games) to the party since I'm on a diet. Too many funeral sandwiches lately. 3 3 Link to comment
Good Queen Jane October 26 Share October 26 3/5, 1*. i knew Friday’s FJ was referring to Jackson Square, but apparently blinded by my knowledge that it was talking about the Louisiana Purchase, I confidently answered Jefferson Square. Sometimes too much knowledge is a bad thing. 1 3 Link to comment

Jackson Square sounded like a thing that exists, so I got lucky with my wild guess. 3 1 Link to comment
possibilities October 26 Share October 26 I knew they were talking about the Louisiana Purchase, but I had no idea where it was signed and I hate Jackson and consider him pure evil, so I forgot anyone considered him heroic. I never would have gotten the answer to that one. 2 1 2 Link to comment

My husband and I "compete" with the "ordles" and Connections. I also do DuoLingo each day to keep up my almost, but not quite, near fluent German to communicate with my family. Clanstarling November 2 Author Share November 2 Week 8 – October 28 – No Asterisks 36. STAGE MUSICAL SETTINGS - Turned into a Nazi headquarters in 1933, the nightspot Eldorado is said to have inspired this fictional place (The Kit Kat Club) 37. NEWS FROM THE STORK - One of the 10 or so babies born at Argentina's Esperanza Base in this place was fittingly named Marisa de las Nieves (Antarctica) 38. ARTIFACTS - Roughly, 180 of these were made & 50 remain; the man who created them was given a pension by the Archbishop of Mainz in 1465 (Gutenberg Bibles) 39.
