2/5 this week, with the asterisk for Friday.

Me, too. I got the ear bandage and the horse whisperer. Kind of go together, eh? I always wondered if the whisperer was whispering because he was hoarse or was he hoarse from whispering?

165.     1990s BESTSELLERS - In this 1995 book, Pilgrim is taken to Tom, whose job it is to utter secrets "softly into pricked and troubled ears" (The Horse Whisperer)

I thought this was an asterisk question.

Well, (expletive deleted) so it is. Sorry, once again I was in a rush. Any of ya'll who got it, please update your scores.

But I'm glad to see most of you caught it. Expect next week's list a bit later. I'm not going to rush anymore!!

I'd like to thank…Mr Bliss's addiction to the news (meaning I get inundated with US politics) for the ear bandage…

I am obsessed with news and a student of both art and art history, and have even been dwelling lately on a theory of another possible reason for Van Gogh's self-surgery and subsequent suicide (skin cancer from being outside so much in the south of France with his red-headed complexion — those straw hats do not offer UV protection).
But that clue did not clue me in.
Maybe fatigue, or I didn't have my hearing aid in, or distraction.

Okay, this time I was very careful - hope I didn't miss anything. LOL.

Week 34 – April 28 – Two Asterisks
166.     CONTEMPORARY AUTHORS - At the start of his writing career, his wife told him, if it didn't work out, at 6'4", he could be a reacher in a supermarket (Lee Child)
167.     *20th CENTURY FIGURES - After studying business in Chicago in the 1920s, this man obsessed with Sherlock Holmes was an investigator for a credit company (Elliot Ness)
168.     BUSINESS & TELEVISION - This TV show that debuted in 1960 licensed its name 8 years later to a children’s health product that's still around today (The Flintstones)
169.     THE STAGE - Their show ended its off-Broadway run in 2025, after 34 years, 17,800 shows & 82,150 gallons of paint (The Blue Man Group)
170.     *BOATS & SHIPS - Nearly a century after her 1851 sporting triumph, she was a rotting hulk finally scrapped in 1945 (America)

0/5 for me this week.

1/5, no *.  I believe this is my 4th straight week with that score.  Maybe I should just stop submitting; @Clanstarling can just roll my previous week forward until I get something different.

What, and miss seeing you every week, for what I know will be a short period?  (It's been a tough few weeks for me)

If we don't hear from you I'll put it in...but we'll miss you.

Don't worry, I was just making a little (very little) joke about my streak.

After I replied, I thought "that's probably a joke" - I have a tendency to take things seriously at first glance. So that's on me. 🙂 And I was trying to make a joke myself, but I couldn't think of anything...
