Looks like I’ll be sitting at the bagel table all alone. That’s ok, more for me! I decided on cinnamon raisin. (I despise raisins, but for some reason I don’t mind them in bagels. Although I will pull them out if they get too aggressive. As in, visible.)

I totally overthought the sports question. When I saw "the franchise" I thought of "the vote" and I was trying to figure out who got "the franchise" on that date, and if there was a team that was created at the same time.

This has been a hell of a couple of weeks.

@Bliss - I am still in recovery mode myself - lots of rest and fluids seems to be helping but I am tired of being a good host for this bug.  I got 2/5 with one * thanks to Polk jumping in my brain at the very last second (not sure if Mrs. Polk would count that as dancing).  Please add my virtual food to that of Bliss and order whatever you would like!

I too am suffering from the dreaded cold virus, first one in years. Last time I thought I had a cold it turned out to be covid.

So I will send lots of chicken soup to my fellow sufferers and anyone else who just likes chicken soup.

We’ve obviously been failing to keep the social distance from each other in this thread. I’ve come down with  the cold now too. The Moderators may put us in quarantine!

I couldn't laugh and give you (long distance) hugs too.

So you, @Bliss, @Grundoon59, @Trey, take care of yourselves, and have some of this chicken soup.

I recommend we all stay six posts apart.

2/5 for me this week.

Since I’m in need of comfort food I’m going to bring grilled cheese and tomato soup. What kind of cheese I make yours with is up to you. I don’t mind cooking.

Week 11: 1/5 Mon. Carry Nation

For the rest:
(thanks to @Clanstarling for assembling and formatting above)

52.     SPORTS & THE CITY - At 800 West Main & 700 Central in this city are a company & a venue both involved in Triple Crowns (Louisville, Kentucky)

  • Me: That place in the South where they race horses

53.     *FIGURES OF MYTH - Ovid says he "toppled, beating wild with naked arms the unsustaining air... shrieking for succour from his sire" (Icarus)

  • Me (after Ken said “Who would be shrieking in mid-air?”): The son who flew too close to the sun, you know…

54.     INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITIES - Following student unrest in 1968, in 1970 the University of this city was divided into 13 smaller ones (Paris)

  • Something else I missed when I was living off the grid/absorbed in day-to-day survival, not unlike many today

55.     MOVIES & PSYCHOLOGY - In this film Paula Alquist tells Gregory Anton, "Have you gone mad, my husband? Or is it I who am mad?" (Gaslight)

  • So I really should watch this movie in its entirety, but I'm sort of, kind of, afraid to.

5/5 with 1 *.

There must be something in the cold medicine I’ve been taking to give me a perfect score. Of course, I’ve been taking my sainted grandmother’s remedy, which is honey, lemon, and lots of bourbon. Good stuff!

3, no asterisk. I'm bringing three gallons of eggnog and 3/5 of rum.

Just remember everyone  - don't drink and post! 😉

Well, I may have to revise that warning...;)

1/5 no * - I may have to dip into my daughter's mead before watching.

You will be stunned at the VERY young Angela Lansbury. What a babe!

I'm not sure I would have gotten it but for Dave Letterman. Whenever he had reason to talk about the film or Ingrid Bergman, he would imitate Charles Boyer saying, "Paula, Paula, Paula..."  Thank goodness they mentioned Paula in the clue.
