I am making a scorecard out of graph paper. I guess I'm old school.

Do you all use a spreadsheet program?

I use Excel, so it can do the counting for me.  And I can copy a sheet for the new season and just erase the results, without having to figure out all the calculations again.

Also, something I do for my own "fun" - I cut and paste the FJ! response from The Jeopardy Fan site (or you could use J!Archive) each day, so I can go back and see it in the future.  Like, when J! was in reruns this summer, if I wondered "did I get that one right the first time?" I could go back and check.

I have a spiral-bound notebook, and use three lines per show to record triple stumpers during the game.  I use the margin for FJ and for keeping track of how many correct out of five.  Each page of the notebook is good for three weeks of Jeopardy.

I use Excel. I have a scorecard for the game and a separate tally on the side for the Final Jeopardy contest, which adds up my weekly and YTD totals at the top so I can copy/paste them into my post each week. I don't keep my individual game scores, just clear it out for the next day. In the game grid I put a 1 if I get it right and a 0 if I get it wrong, and it calculates the percent correct for me (not including any blank cells so it doesn't count clues they didn't get to), and in another cell it refers to the numbers and puts them into the format I always use when I post after the game is over (so I can just copy and paste).

I also have a macro that clears the grid, then pastes the categories (which I copy from the J! Archive Show Recent Categories link) into the sheet and moves them to the correct places on the score card.

Because I'm a nerd. 🤓

Welcome @Phebemarie You are now officially on my spreadsheet 😀

Looking forward to Tillamook cheese - it's the best. Along with Tillamook ice cream!

I got a win too! so that's at least 1/5 for the week! 😀

I use an excel spreadsheet. I'm retired, but I can't get away from my financial bent in my former life.

I used to use Excel a lot before I retired. I was amazed how much I'd forgotten when I started using it for this contest! But it's all good now.

1/5. Saved by Ringo.

(Any thoughts to locking Season 40 Final Jeopardy Contest thread? I almost put this in there.)

Good idea.

I put a request in for the S40 thread to be locked.

Saved by the Starr. 1/5 for my first week. I’ll bring a charcuterie. My image is a picture of one that I have made. One of the best components in this one were the sweet fresh figs.

Maybe next week I'll actually get to watch the shows. Stupid DirecTV.

I think they resolved (the Disney/DtV argument)-- I saw a headline in the LA Times (though I didn't read the article, just looked at the story's headline in my inbox)

Week 1 • September 9 – Two Asterisks
1.    FAMOUS WOMEN - Before her death in 2022, she pledged her collection of more than 200 pins to the National Museum of American Diplomacy (Madeline Albright)
2.    *SIGNS & SYMBOLS - Via a diplomatic conference in 2005, a diamond was added to supplement these 2 symbols, thought by some to have religious meaning (a red cross and a red crescent)
3.     *WORLD BORDERS - After Canada & the U.S., these 2 countries share the longest land border at more than 4,700 miles (Russia and Kazakhstan)
4.     HISTORIC NAMES - In 1824, President Monroe invited him back to the adopted country of his youth, which has always cherished his "important services" (the Marquis de Lafayette)
5.     BRITISH KNIGHTS - A sir since 2018, he contracted TB as a teen in 1953 & spent years in a sanatorium, where he learned to play the drums (Ringo Starr)

2 FJs for me, no *.

A weak start, 1/5. Thanking Ringo, like many here. But that You're Sixteen cover of his, 'ick', indeed. The only person singing that song should be another 16 year-old.

That triple chocolate mousse reminds me of Jello 1-2-3! Am I the only one old enough to remember the illustrious Jello 1-2-3? I loved the stuff! But then, I was 5...

That was a special treat!  I don’t want to think about what miracles of modern science made it do that!

Week 1: 2/5 Mon. Madeleine Albright; Fri. Sir Richard Starkey

I don't know what was in this ice cream that I had with my daughter and 2 grandbabies today, but it was creamy!

What flavor of ice cream would you like me to bring you?

NPR announced on my way home that they had reached an agreement, and ABC should be back now for anyone who gets it via Disney/Direct TV.

Yay! Good to be back amongst all you lovely people again. I must admit, this season snuck up on me. I don't watch the summer reruns, so I only realized it was back when I saw the recording on my DirecTV list. Which also means I missed all the previous chatter, so if I may:

  • Thank you @Clanstarling for taking this on again. And I loved the nod to Saber/ Jane. This board is like a little family and I'm grateful to be a part of it.
  • Welcome aboard, @possibilities! Don't worry about low scores, you are welcome to sit next to me at the Table for 0 or 1 most weeks.
  • Thanks for the cheese, @Phebemarie! It was yummy.

Oh, you want a score? I got a score! 1/5 (Ringo). Told you, Possibilities.

You get to bring the doughnuts and bagels.

I didn't realize when I said FOUR for me this week, that one of 'em was an asterisk.  Please, ClanStarling, add that to my count. It's the Red Cross/Crescent one.

I was 2/5 too... Were either (or both) of the 2 ones all the contestants lost? (Signs & Symbols and World Borders?) If so, you get an asterisk too.

As @Prevailing Wind says, that's the doughnut and bagel corner. So...yummy!

I had quoted you to ask just that question - but you gave it to me before I could post. It's been added to your count. :)

I loved Jell-O 1-2-3 (about 10 years after they discontinued it, they re-released it as "Rainbow 1-2-3". Only for about a year). In fact, my mother has a "Joys of Jello" cookbook and that recipe is in there (as I remember (not that I've made the recipe in the book), you don't really do anything special, the layers just ... separate). If I find it, I'll post it if anyone wants it.

Happy with my start of 3/5 with one * (M/W/F... I'm a Jetpunk addict so I love the geography clues)

I've just finished scrolling through all the posts here and feel full of yummy goodies. As Trey said, thankfully the calories are virtual - not that I'm counting them these days.

I'll bring imaginary puppies for the after-party cuddling.

Whoops- just realized I didn't post for week one.  I will blame it on  a wild week at work. I was 3/5 with no *.  Will try to do better for the rest of the season.  Glad to be back with everyone.
