They were so much closer with Karsyn, why go for Chris again when it’s just a guess based on a stupid coat clue. I mean even Dolly Parton was known for a coat of many colors and if she hadn’t already been someone else’s relative, she would be a better answer than these. And if you’re going for a random guess, granted they didn’t watch dwts, but at least pick an American singer ffs! Elton John and Billy Idol are from Utah, do they know these guys? Of the remaining 4, they’ve been closest with Dale Jr. and today was the 1st mention of Nick Cannon. Donny and JB are not on anyone’s radar yet. It’s been a fun season.

Someone just randomly mentions Billy Idol and they go with that?

Yep, another British guy.

I wonder if he was born in Utah like Elton. 😆

Glad to see Chris is still in the game.  I hope he wins.  It irked me to see Gabriel attacking Chris personally and questioning his upbringing.  My God, if he knew who Chris's dad was, he'd feel like a fool to question his upbringing.  And Gabriel has no room to talk when it comes to sneakiness.  I'm glad they made up and apologized to each other.

At this point I am wondering if Gabriel and/or Monay is sitting on the truth about Chris and letting all the others knock themselves out. The editing this week makes me think Chris isn’t winning.

Monay has done brilliant job of positioning herself if keeping most of the group focused away from her. When Jane was eliminated the whole group thought Monay and Shayne manipulated her into thinking it was Elvis then they just dropped it once Shayne was eliminated. She’s never been in the bottom but is always a big part of the conversation leading people to the wrong guesses. She’s never been in real jeopardy so it wouldn’t be hard for her steer people wrong.

I don't think Monay has any idea who Chris is.  I swear the clue could say Mormon from Utah from a singing family with a sister, named Marie, and these people would still guess wrong.  Poor Donny's ego is probably taking it hard, but if Chris wins, it would probably heal really quickly.   Still, being this season's Dean Martin can't be a good feeling for him.  They seem to have begun figuring out Gabriel's clues, but they just have no idea about Monay's celeb.  I generally don't watch competitive reality shows, but I absolutely love this show!

Based on what we are seeing I agree. I just really don’t trust the editing. I can see Monay not knowing Donny Osmond but she seems to have the most pop culture knowledge in the group (by a lot) and I am having a hard time buying that she actually thinks Elton John and Billy Idol were good guesses for a singer from Utah.

It BLOWS my mind that these contestants are such children that they have no idea who Donny Osmond is and that Chris looks like he was pulled directly from Donny's posterior!!!  I wasn't born in the 50's or 60's but I am well aware of the stars of those decades because of general knowledge of popular culture. This cannot be real **eyeroll**

I’m actually beginning to wonder if some shenanigans are going on behind the scenes! I mean, I know that Donny’s heyday was back in the 70s but he has been a mainstream performer for decades. Headliner in Vegas for years. National tours every few years. TV interviews. Active social media presence.  Marie is also still performing and giving  interviews. Even if the contestants don’t know what Donny looked like 40+ years ago, they should easily be able to link the clues to the name Osmond.  The whole thing has become very strange!

Jane’s Elvis guess doesn’t look so ridiculous now.  At least he’s American.  I think if she was still around, she might have picked up on the more recent clues like Utah and DWTS.

My husband has never watched the show this season.  We are in our 50's so definitely the right dynamic to know the Osmond's and we saw Donny in his broadway show.  When I asked him who Chris was related to, he immediately very confidently said Jon Mayer.  Told him no and gave him another guess, he says Jim Carrey!   WHATT???  Maybe Donny is tougher to guess than we think!

Hello everyone. I never watch the show either, saw Chris' picture in the "mom's guess correctly" article on this site and the first thing I thought was with those teeth and hair, he looks like an Osmond.

Tell hubby he is from Utah.  That should help him guess.

qq. I know Karstyn read Chris' clue in the shredding competition, for lack of a better description, but did she share the Utah clue? I don't recall her mentioning it, but I don't always pay super attention in the chit chats.

She did.

I stumbled upon this show at S2 Ep 2.  Chris was the only one I guessed without a single clue and that was because he looks exactly like his father (when Donny was young).  For the record, I was a teenager in the 80s but my older by nine year year old sister had posters of Donny Osmond on her wall in the 70s.

I honestly don't think these people have any idea who Donny Osmond is/was.   Billy Idol?  Really?   Actually I'm not sure they even know who Billy Idol is/was, lol.

Or, there is some blatant rigging going on. 🤷‍♀️

But knowing Utah, wouldn't you rule out Billy Idol and Elton John?

JR would have slid under the radar longer, except his clue was so obvious, so he would have been guessed out immediately.  No idea how Chris doesn't know about Nick Cannon's baby making prowess.  It's pretty much out there, and I don't follow any current social media sites.

Chris has said he doesn’t really follow pop culture. I thought it was funny that during the game, Gabriel was freaking out after seeing Mariah Carey’s name and it ended up being related to Chris’s clue anyway! And good for Monay for absolutely crushing that game.

I definitely think Jada/Jane would have figured out Chris by now. Can’t truthfully say I miss her, though, as I thought she was rather smug. Maybe there’s an unaired clip where Chris lied to everyone and said his family was British.

I’ll give the other players some credit, though. Karsyn remembers the shredding clue as being about “colorful coats”, when the clue specifically mentioned DREAMCOAT.

That's even more ridiculous!

Yes!  These people are unbelievable.  Did they think Prince has a secret white son that he's never revealed.

Well, at least Prince is not British, so they're getting closer in that respect. 😄

That was JR. He really was the worst at the game by a large margin. Which is saying a lot in this group.

I was born in the mid-80s, and I know Donny Osmond primarily for “I’ll Make a Man Out of You” from Disney’s animated Mulan. While I know of Donny & Marie by name, I couldn’t pull any personal details of him if asked, don’t typically watch regularly reality fare like Masked Singer or DWtS, and I wouldn’t know what he looked like as a teen idol. It doesn’t surprise me at all that these guys haven’t heard of him, or that the few clues they have are tripping them up so badly - how many of them would even be familiar with Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat in general, let alone that he was in the role?

The British singer guesses (and the idea of it being Prince), are laughable though.

I feel that was the only just outcome, since JR, while nice enough, has been such a non-entity compared to the other 4 in terms of the overall narrative of the show that it would have been a crime for him to get to the final 4 over any of the others.

Gabe, though. Yeesh. What a turnaround I did on him. And that "apology" didn't help. "My feelings were hurt!" Poor hypocrite baby. Chris is still somehow getting the villain edit, though, with that "I'm invincible" bit at the end.

I've been back and forth on Monay all season, but she's playing very well. And she killed that challenge. Speaking of which...

After the challenge:

JR: "[Monay] has all our clues!"

Karsyn: "Except mine, suckers! 😀"

I love her. Even if she does think Elton John is from Utah and Billy Idol wears colorful coats.

When has Billy Idol ever worn coats! Billy Idol always appears shirtless in my 1980s (not 70s) memories.

And Prince hit the scene in the 1980s, not 1970s!  Of course none of these people were even born then, including Chris.

The lesson is if you are going to be on this show, brush up on your People magazine, haha.  😉

JR because he guessed Chris’ relative wrong. If you have a DVR, you can probably watch the episode on Demand through your cable company.

I have a clear memory of Billy Idol wearing an open white shirt, some necklaces maybe, and a black leather jacket.  He never wore a colorful coat lol.  I think they have no idea who Billy Idol is.

This. I really don't find it that odd that people don't have much knowledge of the Osmonds. But also yes, the British guesses make no sense.

Chris' reaction to 'pampered, buddy' (I absolutely loved the way Gabriel said that. I watched it over and over it was so funny lol.) made it pretty clear he was, indeed, pampered lol. Like way OTT reaction to a pretty innocuous comment. He continues to get the villain edit and I hope that means he doesn't win.

This episode has me convinced Monay is winning. She's been a steady enough presence the whole time and I think @Dani might be right about the editing hiding her having more knowledge about Chris.

First of all, I absolutely LOVE this show.  Second, how in the WORLD have they not guessed Chris yet? When I watched the first episode, I took one look at him and thought wow, they have an Osmond on the show! (although I am the demographic and remember my first concert was the Osmonds so that dates me). But Donny Osmond is a cultural icon, at least in my book. And I think Chris knows more pop culture trivia than he lets on - he wasn't in the bottom on the muddy trivia game.

Have we figured out definitely who Monay is related to?

Maybe Chris is pampered and maybe he isn't, but I don't blame him one bit for getting upset that Gabe used that against him in an argument where Gabe was being a total hypocrite and having his own OTT reaction to Chris doing exactly what Gabe did to Monay. And Gabe throwing in the whole "I go by what God tells me" or whatever holier-than-thou b.s. he said made it even worse. It was taking a game argument and making it personal, attacking Chris' character, and that's why Chris got upset. And considering that Gabe knew full well that the others were going for Chris and didn't tell him - I guess that's all fair play, right? (It is, of course, but Gabe seems to have some inconsistencies in his perspective).

I'd much rather see Karsyn (highly doubtful) or Monay (maybe?) win, but I'd 100% prefer a Chris win over a Gabe win at this point.

Last season didn't they bring the others back in the house near the end?  I do think that one of them might be able to help with who Chris is related to.  I am sure some of the others with more clues would guess Donny Osmond.  Although they might not want to help.

Gabriel was OTT too for sure. I believed his apology more than Chris' though.

I'll be happy to see Gabriel or Monay win. The other 2, not so much.

Well hot damn, maybe it is Tim Meadows then! I believe JB Smoove was like a regular on CYE though so he fits that part more imo.

Does anyone remember what Monay's clue from this episode was?

They did and I think that was the only reason LC knew Logan's relative, wasn't it? So yea, if they do that again, Jane will probably clue them in on Chris. I hope they don't do that again though.

That he was in Far From Home. That has to be JB Smoove. The shredded clues also match him. They referenced a connection to sport betting and said he was last seen at a Blockbuster. JB is the face of Caesar’s Sportsbook (hence the Caesar statues showing up as clues) and his last show was Blockbuster.

Oh yea, then it's him for sure. I missed the Blockbuster clue, that seals the deal for me. That's the only thing I've actually seen him in. The only other thing I know about him is he is/was a Walking Dead fan lol.

I wonder if any of them have any inkling of her relative? We haven't been given any indication they do but the editing hides things so who knows.

I hope they don’t do it either. It didn’t impact the outcome of last season though. Brittney tried to help LC by giving her the wrong name. It was the final challenge where they played truth or dare that did Logan in. He had to reveal is celebs birth name. Pepper knew enough about country music to go from that to Jason Aldean and told LC.

I dont think they do.  And the only reason, I could tell, that they came up with Billy is that they thought the "70s teen idol" clue was literal "Idol" which led them to Billy.  They thought him last week, before they settled on Elton and also askd the "is Billy Idol from Utah" question.  Yes British Billy and Elton were born in Utah!!  Maybe they think Utah is in the UK.

I’ve wondered about that. If Chris and Gabriel watch their relatives tv appearances they should at least be aware of him. The first time I was really aware of JB Smoove was when he guest judged during the first season of Masked Singer. In an episode where Donny Osmond competed, Nick Cannon was the host and Jenny McCarthy was the judge.

JB and Donny are both connected to Vegas and have their faces on giant signs.

This.  I don't blame Chris either for getting upset.  Maybe in normal circumstances, he would have let the offensive comments roll off his back, but being locked up with strangers and playing a stressful game is not normal circumstances, plus having your upbringing questioned, which is basically an insult to your mother and father, plus implying you don't have God in your life (when you're a member of a famously religious (Mormon) family).  Gabriel was a hypocritical doofus in that argument and I hope he gained perspective when he watched it back.

Same. I thought it highlighted how widely different the backgrounds of contestants on this show can be. It made me realize that there are going to be undercurrents that aren’t immediately visible between contestants that the children and grandchildren of celebrities aren’t even going to be aware of.

Same. I thought it highlighted how widely different the backgrounds of contestants on this show can be. And it reminded me that Gabriel has to know he is going to perceived differently on tv than someone like Chris.

Then perhaps Gabriel shouldn't act like a proselytizing hypocrite who escalates an argument about gameplay to personal insults about someone's character, religious background, and how their parents raised them (maybe not "an egregiously horrible personal attack", but everyone has their own berserker buttons, and it was still completely unnecessary and unprovoked). I know there are other ways that Gabriel is perceived differently that he has no control over, but in my opinion, this specific incident is not related to that.

And, to be clear, I don't think Gabe is some horrible person. I think he's someone who couldn't deal with his own legit cutthroat gameplay being turned on him, and he lashed out in the moment.
