I agree with the poster above. Rishi is a lawyer. He should have been able to assist her or provide some legal direction.

Rishi hasn't assisted Jen with anything. He did, however, give her a ring and asked her to marry him for a second time after she lost the first ring? Did I hear that correctly? She lost the first ring?

He is also more than happy to peel off his shirt and take photo's of himself to send to other IG women stalkers who slide in to his DM but the man can't even go with Jen to the airport to say goodbye? WTF with this guy. I used to like him but now I just don't know what his game is.

I do not understand why Danielle has a car in NYC. Nobody drives there or has a car unless you are coming from out of town. It's very expensive to park, pay tolls (as we know) or find a decent place to park for free on the street. And nobody wants to get stuck in the endless traffic jams. So why the freak does she have a car? You take public transportation, you moron, unless she can't afford bus fare or a metro card.

Jeymi wants to marry Kris but has not bothered to have the talk with her parents to tell them she's gay? Doesn't want them at the wedding or to know about the wedding? Girl, you got some splainin' to do.

The only reason I can figure Gabe wants to tell Isabel's parents that he's trans is because they are afraid they will find out through the show or social  media. Otherwise, keep you mouth shut. Nobody's business.

I would like to know what set Maakkmood off this time. They were having fun in the pool then next scene he's pissed off again and she's fed up with him again.

Dear Nicole,

Google is your friend when you have a question about the rules for the religion you hastily chose to adopt.

I am finding Gabe and Isabel very boring. Every week : "I love Isabel. I hope her family accepts me. We are meeting Isabel's family. Will they accept me?

Now that we've gotten the answer to that question, what could their story line possibly be the rest of the season?

Yes, she said that she lost it in the first episode but didn't act like it was any big deal. I guess it was more of an "appreciation ring" (TM Jesse Meester) than engagement. Personally, I thought the new ring was pretty cheap and ugly looking, but she seemed to like it.

I doubt it was a costly piece of jewelry or a diamond or gold...inexpensive costume jewelry is the nicest way to describe the ring she lost AND the replacement ring.

Rishi could not get her on her way to the airport fast enough, propose on the curb while the taxi waits and there is no chance of intimacy.

I thought Maccchhhhmoood was kinder but this episode with the bathing suit? What a passive aggressive little dick. Pushing Nicole into the pool was so juvenile and shows his literal aggression toward her.

Oh, I missed this. I changed the channel during the hideously boring Gabe & Isabel segment, so this may have been shown right after and I didn't tune back in on time.

I'm not sure if I believe Oussama when he says he's not embarrassed by being seen with her but I'm sure they all think she's some crazy American senior citizen who's 'whooping it up' in a foreign country.

I don't know yet . . . I need more info before deciding about Ossama. Debbie was acting kinda the fool on the camel, but then again, that was a fabulous experience. Debbie would look much better if she cut her hair, styled it and wore normal clothes. The look she seems to love just seems very eccentric and old lady. 67 isn't old but her choice of clothes and hair makes her seem like it.

What does Jeymi see in Kris? Does she aspire to be a caregiver? I don't see much between these two - no undying true connection or love. Yet, Jeymi seems happy, but I have no idea what the big attraction is.

It seemed to me that Jeymi took a moment before responding yes to Kris' proposal.  I think she does have an ulterior motive and was considering the pros/cons to accepting the proposal.  Nicole is too old to play the 'innocent victim' role that she has adopted for herself-she has even lived in Egypt after her marriage and knew what the expectations and requirements were, yet she went back.  I appreciate how Debbie addressed why she was upset, but her overreactions while riding the camel were a bit much (IMO).  And Jen?  I hope your friends and family do give you a hard time-you signed up for the wrong visa and that is totally on YOU!  And my favorite quote from this episode was when Danielle stated that maybe life with Yohan won't be as easy as being on a vacation with him.  Ya think?  Geesch...none of them are seemingly very bright.

Maybe that's another reason Daniele doesn't want to leave the DR.   Last I heard, there is no extradition to the U.S. for financial crimes.  (A local developer owed millions to investors and in lawsuit judgments, and criminal charges for fraud.  He relocated to the DR, and will never leave because if he comes back to the U.S., he's going to jail for years).

I can't believe Nicole lived in Egypt, and still went back thinking she didn't have to wear the clothing that other women in her husband's family do.    Mahmoud was right to try to stop her from leaving the hotel alone, that isn't a safe thing to do in Egypt, though he was too forceful to try to stop her.    Nicole is lucky she has the camera crew with her as an escort, she could be in serious trouble wandering on her own.

I thought it was funny he went to the kitchen to smoke but when the cameras found him he hid it in his hand, is there something about smoking being a no-no being Muslim?

Apparently whether or not Muslims can smoke varies by the country or region but alcohol is forbidden everywhere. I also read something interesting about tattoos. They are considered a sacrilege to the body and you can’t complete the purification washing ritual if you have one. So no wudu with a tattoo.

Minus the hairstyle, the dress style reminds me of Mrs. Roper from Three's Company.

Maybe she's wanting to go on 90 Day Single Life?

A couple of weeks ago, this came up with Ossouma and Debbie.  She was looking forward to wine with dinner.  He said that alcohol could not be brought into the house but he could go out for a drink.   Debbie didn’t seemed to take it seriously.   She doesn’t understand the rules for a Muslim household in Morocco/ doesn’t understand they aren’t suggestions.

You're right, we've seen many instances of Muslim men drinking outside the home. I guess they're not worried about the "angels leaving and the devils entering" a public place as long as they don't live there. Just like all religions, I'm sure some Muslim families are stricter in their adherence to the laws than others. Nicole has just found herself married into a very strict Muslim family. It was stupid of her to convert without knowing what was entailed but I suspect the idea was sprung on her. Remember how they got married in a civil ceremony and then Mahmoud's uncle (I suspect it's the same one we've seen that Mahmoud claims is like a father to him) said they weren't REALLY married unless they had a Muslim ceremony so they crashed someone else's wedding?

Jeymi annoys me no end. She's always proclaiming just how Proud Lesbian she is, "I'm a lesbian! Today! Every day! Next year! Forever and ever!" yet she hasn't come out to her family? I guess her family is still in Venezuela so she can hide her sexual orientation from them?

Isn't that why she lives in Colombia though as it's a much more tolerant country than Venezuela and by extension her parents? She seems to have no problem with anyone knowing where she now lives, we can't all be buddy buddy talk about anything and they accept it with our parents no matter how much people think others should be.

If she ever tells her parents she's married, she could lead them to believe "Kris" is a guy.

Will her parents be more upset if they find out she is gay or will they be more upset that she has married an addict and it is Kris?  I would be very disappointed if my daughter showed up with Kris as her love interest, lol.

Sorry - Maccchmooood didn't actually push Nicole into the pool in the traditional sense where someone dumps another person totally into water, but he literally pushed against her body in order to get her into the pool. She was clearly resisting him with her body and pushing back, and it just seemed aggressive-aggressive and a little disturbing to me. 😓💔

So I have a theory.

Did anyone else notice the guy at the pool with the woman in the full burka that they showed a few times ? Nicole said that everything was fine when she went to get changed & Macccccmoody had a bad attitude when she returned and I think maybe that guy said something to him that set him off, they also said the cameras were off.

If Nicole was serious about converting, why didn’t she talk to any Muslim friends or drop by/call a local mosque in LA to ask for help about learning prayers, the culture, customs, etc.?

Because she’s not serious about converting.

She said she had never heard him pray before and his beautiful voice during prayer was another way he’s full of surprises.  HE PRAYS FIVE TIMES A DAY, NICOLE.  THIS IS NOT A SURPRISE, GIRLYPOP.

She also seems to think every bulletpoint on the religious code of conduct is a targeted attack against her and that if her husband just loved her enough these things would stop mattering to all of Islam.  How dare he not want to answer her 500th ridiculous question of the day which he’s probably answered a thousand times before.

Isn't the goal of this show to make us sympathize with/root for these people? If so, it's just not working, at least not in my house.

Nicole/Mackhmoody: She's an idiot, he has the communication skills of a mime. Welcome to his culture. You're basically a household appliance with a hole.

Jen/Rishi: The most educated illiterate American I've seen on this show so far. I'd like to root for Rishi, but if you're so stupid that you propose to that moron for a second time, I have to hope you fail. Sorry, stupid should hurt.

Danielle/Yohan: She's a liar and a con-artist. I like her slightly more than Angela, but much less than Big Ed. That's the territory she's landed in. Oddly enough, I think her and Ed are about the same height and have similar necks. Yohan will be fine. He will pick up another single white tourist who is looking for an interracial relationship and get to America that way. He wants out of his country, she wants out of the US. Whatever.

Jeymi/Kris: Jeymi may not be that bad, but since she has to share her screen time with the insufferable Kris, I think I just dislike her by association. Kris wants to go to Columbia because she's looking for something that will fit in a straw and slide up one of her massive nostrils. If 90 Day doesn't work out for her, maybe she can land on Intervention one day.

The Old Woman and The Woodchuck: I'd like to know how much money she has sent him. Save the whole "He seems sweet" thing. He's not looking for an old woman just because he thinks she looks good. She's spending some money on him and he probably can't do any better because....whew. He looks rough.

Gabe/Isabell: Wake me up when something actually happens. Were we supposed to really believe that they hadn't talked to her super-religious/conservative father until that? Because if so, I have some ocean front property in Northern Kentucky I'd really like to sell somebody.

Did I miss anyone? I hate all these people.

“I didn’t tell him I had 10 suitcases. I’m mad he came with a 4-door car.” BITCH YOU DIDN'T TELL HIM!

Daniele is straight up racist. She treats Yohan as her servant. She orders him around, constantly reminds him that she’s intellectually superior and more evolved, lecturers him on how she’s doing him a favor by marrying him. Shocking that TLC would televise such blatant racism in 2023. How the fuck can she blame him on her own stupid mistake with not telling him about the suitcases? You KNOW he uses the same car every time, it was on HER to tell him ahead of time that the normal car wouldn't work.

Why the hell was Mahmoud so bitchy about Nicole asking of she needs to wear something underneath that modest swimsuit? Calm the hell down... I thought it was a honest question...his body language when he “playfully” pushes Nicole into the pool…. Yikes…

Mahmoud putting his hands on Nicole made me gasp. If he’s that comfortable being physical with her on camera I worry what is/will happen off camera. Run Nicole. Go home. 🚩

I love how Rishi will propose with a new ring but still not introduce Jen to his family as his fiancé… 🤡

Jen is so giddy with excitement that Rishi had “renewed” their engagement. Then her brother had to send it all crashing down by asking when’s the wedding. I love him.

Riding camels is NOT okay. They are often mistreated and abused by those who “train” and own them in captivity. Just like elephants. Or tigers and bears who “pose” for pictures. My 17 year old daughter had to do a research project for science class and wanted to warn you guys.

This season of The Other Way is just "Americans say they moved to a foreign country but really are just on a long vacation before they go back home."

Dammit, TLC really baited us with the trans reveal just to keep the parents reaction for next episode…Well played!

There's something amiss that we're not privy to. I think Nicole returned to Mahmoud for a couple of reasons. First, filming equals monetary help, and second, I truly believe Mahmoud agreed that Nicole could dress in the style she's designing. And i believe he never imposed the hijab on her. I know muslim women who don't cover their heads (but they also say this is a man made rule, not Allah's).

I agree with you about Gabe. I suspect it was previously discussed (and I'm glad because I want to see conservative, religious people in a good light for a change) Accepting the differences of others is a great look for any family.

I also agree with you about Kris. I'm hoping Jaime's DMs are full of new, wonderful people who can rescue her from kris.

Someone upthread mentioned they liked Nicole's swim outfit - well, Land's End offers these beauties for the bottoms.

I think it was the previous episode but what really struck me was when Nicole was sitting in the living room with Mamood's family and there was a woman wearing the full head covering with just a narrow open slot for the eyes. I forget the name for that. But I spent that whole segment looking at her and I just cannot imagine what it would be like to have that heavy fabric covering my entire head and face all the time. There is something seriously unsettling about it to me.  Even worse that this is done in a place that is very warm.

I actually liked Nicole's comment that Mamood should wear the burkini. That would have been a great segment to see him put that on and see how he liked it. Same with the head covering .. would love for all the men to have to wear those around for a few weeks and see how they like it.

Similar reason why I stopped going to SeaWorld. You’ve probably heard the story of Shamu, the killer orca whale, right? She was captured in the wild in 1965 when she was 3 years old. Her mother was killed by harpooners right in front of her! She was abducted and sent to SeaWorld San Diego, where they performed those brutal tricks on her like withholding food in order to perform dangerous stunts. In 1971, someone had to ride on Shamu’s back for one such stunt, but the woman fell off and was literally bitten by Shamu! The lady was sent to the hospital and Shamu died a few months later of blood poisoning and a uterine infection.

Imagine. Just imagine. How many more years would she have lived if she was still kept in the wild? I would have easily said 100.

You read my mind as i was thinking how uncomfortable and smelly they must be. I assume bright colours aren't allowed. It seems like punishment when the men are sitting around, comfortable in shirt/slacks, and nothing covering their face. Do the men not have independent thoughts about this?

I actually think along these same lines when I watch women and men on TV on chat shows, or on a panel like the reunion shows for reality TV shows.  The men might wear a suit, but not always, and they can sit like humans.  The women often wear super tight dresses that require them to sit ramrod straight and keep their legs bolted together at all times.  They never look like they're sitting around or comfortable.
