And I found another article where Pierce apologized and owned his mistake.

Pierce Brosnan apologizes for Yellowstone Trespass

I'm glad he apologized and owned it, but it's another one of those things that should never have happened in the first place.  There are signs and warnings and even guard rails everywhere to prevent that sort of idiocy.  It wasn't a mistake.  You don't accidentally climb over a barrier.  But as I said, I am sad that he didn't have the respect in the first place not to leave the boardwalk.

Not a misdeed, but since it had been discussed here before; Oprah addressed her resignation from WeightWatchers on Jimmy Kimmel:

ETA- It's each individual poster's call whether to implicitly believe Miss Winfrey's explanation/spin. Speaking strictly for myself, I don't.

So am I. They have signs all over the place and people are always ignoring them. They are there for a reason.

And surely you of all people would agree that "no one is owed a job"?

She had become toxic.  And employers and future employers are allowed to consider that in deciding if they want to work with someone.

She wasn't cancelled. She was made to deal with the consequences of her actions.

No, Gina, Ingrid Bergman getting shunned by Hollywood after her affair with Roberto Rossellini was an "unnecessary cancellation"*.  People getting blacklisted by McCarthyism counts as an "unnecessary cancellation". You were a crappy employee who screwed up, so you got fired. And surely you of all people would agree that "no one is owed a job"?

*Yeah, they took her back 7 years later, but I think my point stands.

And don’t forget she was denounced on the floor of the SENATE.

As per NPR and other sources, country star Morgan Wallen was arrested  and charged with three felony counts of reckless endangerment and one misdemeanor early Monday morning (April 8,2024) after having allegedly thrown a chair off the roof of Eric Church's new bar called Chief to the street below just a few feet from two   Metropolitan Nashville  Police officers and other pedestrians. Oh, it should be mentioned that this particular rooftop is six stories above street  level!

For those who were oblivious to him having been caught using an  ethnic slur, it might not hurt to keep in mind that 'sticks and stones will break your bones/ while chairs thrown from six floors above could REALLY hurt you!'

I had decided to keep an open mind on Wallen, after he was given a time-out from Nashville after the racial slur episode. He apologized and seemed genuine. He had also had a thing with SNL, before that in which he engaged in activities prior to his performance on their show, he had agreed to refrain from. (Long story….was during covid) Anyway, it was apparent that drinking too much caused him to lose good judgment.  He admitted this.

So, after he wss let back into Nashville, I listened to his music and realized the guy is very talented.  Great song writer and performer.  He quickly became very successful in the country music industry. I thought he had overcome his demons.  So, now…..with the chair throwing….I think I’m done with him.  He is a hot head with rage issues.  It reminds me of bullies who throw objects off of overpass bridges onto cars that maim or kill the occupants.  So callous.  I predict he’ll be coddled by those around him.  Ugh…..

I guess I'm more shocked that this sort of alleged boorish and dangerous behavior seems to be tolerated instead of Mr. Knoxville's churlishness being ostracized by their peers, network, etc.

Richard Dreyfus ruins Jaws anniversary screening

Leaving aside all the sexist, homophobic, and transphobic bullshit he spewed, he also had the audacity to trash Spielberg. Talk about biting the hand that feeds you!

I don’t blame the audience for walking off. I wouldn’t have blamed them if they threw stuff at him!

Ms. Streisand was nowhere near Jaws so why did he drag her into that?

The article is oddly uninformative about what he actually said (other than to include an image that shows part of somebody's tweet, which may or may not be reliable).

His protracted entrance does make him look like a major league asshole with delusions of grandeur, and the interviewer does not look amused--nor would I be!--but without more information, I'm flummoxed. @Spartan Girl, what are the specifics in regard his verbal spewings? If they're in the article I'm not seeing it.

This article is a little more specific.

This part of the article...

Quote

In footage shared online, Dreyfuss walks onstage wearing a housedress over his clothes, dances to “Love Story,” by Taylor Swift, then has a duo come rip the dress off, apparently pretending to do a burlesque routine complete with hip shaking. Attendee Diane Wolfe told the Boston Globe Dreyfuss went on, saying, “The parents of trans youth, allowing them to transition, was bad parenting and that someday those kids might change their minds.” According to another attendee, he also complained about the Me Too movement and Barbra Streisand caught a stray for being “a woman.”

...what...the...?

Whole lot to unpack there. Wow.

That's a lot... Has he ever done anything like this before because, not that it would excuse it, an older man acting erratically and out of character makes me think mental problems, like dementia or Alzheimer's. Again, not that it would excuse it, but it would explain him hijacking an event out of the blue like that.

His views line up with the shit his son Ben spews on Twitter, so I'm not that surprised that he believes the same.  Ben had to learn it from somewhere.

He does.  I also do not get his argument here.  Jerry's claim to fame is a TV show where none of the male characters are "dominant" men.  In fact, the few characters like Puddy or J. Peterman who embodied what I think Jerry means as dominant or real men were often the butt of the joke.  He does not make any sense here.

You know what? Call me old-fashioned, but maybe a true "alpha" doesn't need to dominate or belittle anyone else to feel more important because he knows it's bullshit. Anyone that feels differently is just a beta loser.

And that applies to any gender, binary or no! So stick that in your pipe and smoke it, Seinfeld!

On another thread we were talking about Daniel Stern being punished for speaking out against two men who some people would consider to be dominant (Brett Ratner and Jeremy Piven) when they were accused of inappropriate behavior towards women on a TV pilot back in the late 90s.  I can see Seinfeld shrugging his shoulders at that type of behavior.  You don't have to have a psychology degree to see Seinfeld wanted/wants to be a dominate man.  Let's not forget Seinfeld met a 17 yr old girl when he was 38 and gave her his number.  They dated for three years. He began a relationship with his wife shortly after she married someone else.  He isn't a good guy.

Hollywood Makeup Artist Allie Shehorn Allegedly Stabbed By Actor Ex Nick Pasqual

She had a restraining order, but it didn't help. I don't know how long it takes severed tendons to heal, or if there will be permanent physical damage, but I hope she will recover fully. And that the bastard who did it gets life without parole.

I could not believe how casually that was regarded.  Dude is almost 40 and dating a high school student, and people just shrug?!

I wonder how well known this was?  At least among fans of the show anyway.  Most of the people I know who liked it were not into celebrity gossip and unless this was making mainstream news sources I doubt they'd ever have been aware of it.  I know I certainly had no idea!  But then I was never a fan so he was flying well below my celebrity radar.

It was widely known.   The media reported it but they reported it as Jerry Seinfeld is out with his girlfriend Shoshanna.  They should have said Seinfeld is with a young woman barely old enough to vote.

Boy, I didn't know about that aspect of Jerry and Jessica's relationship. I'll bet Jerry was just thrilled that he cucked somebody.
