Ugh, guess I’ll pass on a couple of those days. Not interested in Maury Povich or Jojo Siwa. (I love SYTYCD but I’m having a hard time getting excited for it with Siwa as a judge.)

He's ending his show. Poor mothers won't know who the baby daddies are.

You’re right!  How did mothers figure that out before Maury came along?

Cave Doctors and a square peg in the round hole test * shrug *  both Ellen and Maury in the same season.  WWIDo?

Stephanie Grisham again ?  I guess it's down to the wire between her and Allyssa Farrah What's-her-name. Not happy with either of them for permanent host.

I'm sure Whoopi is going to tell us all that Billy Crystal is 'amazing' and his poorly-reviewed musical 'Mr. Saturday Night' is amazing, and he will be kissing everyone's behind to show what a nice guy he is so he can get a Tony Award.

  • Interesting Vanity Fair article, by Charlotte Klein,  dropped in my mailbox this a.m. about Alyssa Farah Griffin and The View.

Highlights that The View wants drama like McCain inspired...less about political balance more about the drama.  Navarro doesn't bring that kind of heat apparently. Also noted that Grisham and Griffin are probably tapped because they both walked on dark side and now want to rebrand as moderates, hence their repeat performances.

There is a lot in the article and I recommend it if you can get a hold of a copy.  I thought the author did a fair job.

Remember - take a shot every time Whoopi uses the word "AMAZING" to describe Crystal or his show. Guaranteed you will be drunk by noon. 😊

And any time Sunny tells a guest their work is “fantastic!”

Posters in this thread have been saying this for years.

Yeah, we know there are some people (*cough* Teta *cough*) behind-the-scenes that want antics. But I do enjoy pointing out that so far the ratings haven't shown audiences are missing them. I'm not really worried who they hire of the guests, they haven't been able to poison the whole show even when I dislike them. Nobody's ever going to get the kind of pass the last one did.

Good for Sunny today! I agree with her, that her simply talking about race issues that affect her personally is not "racism." Makes me laugh, but I have heard such a criticism directed at Black commentators before.

I agree. The other cohosts have not treated the guest cohosts with kid gloves.  They have pushed back when the cohost has said things they disagreed with.  The last one got away with way too much and when someone did push back she melted like a snowflake.

Seeing Billy Crystal was just delightful. I love seeing the friendship and love between him and Whoopi. And I laughed at the clip from 1999. And I thought I'd never say this, as she annoyed more often than not, but I loved seeing "Bawa!!!!!" And I miss her.

Agree, Ana was on fiyah! And blah, blah, legal note. You go, Sunny and Ana. and Joy!

These assholes are so tone deaf and don't realize the only TRUE Americans/Natives to this country are the Native Americans. EVERYONE else ARE IMMIGRANTS.

I really wish that the hosts had to provide the specifics of the polls they quote. Sunny says 1 in 3 white people believe in "Replacement Theory". That sounds alarming, but who was polled to get this? How many people were polled and what was the question that resulted in that interpretation? They use these numbers a lot, with very little context.

Every day on the MSN homepage, they have little surveys on various topics and on some days, when I take them, I see that "100%" of the people responded the way I did. However, in fine print, it says that there have been fewer than 10 respondents, so knowing that 100% of people agree with me is not that persuasive.

Wow! Whoopi is just glowing with her friend Billy Crystal. She is just BEAMING!

She was! If I didn't know they've been friends for decades, I would have known they were friends for decades. I just got a bit misty because it was Whoopi, Robin, and Billy from the Comic Relief Days and Robin is no longer with us.

As for Gaslit? Pfft. Metro had HUGE posters from each character with an "edgy" caption. And just what do they mean "Watergate was wrong. Mitchell Was Right"? Anyway, I tried to watch it. Got as far into five minutes and turned it off. Give me All the Presidents Men, thankyouverymuch.

I mean, it's awful what was done to her, from some of the articles I've read. But don't knock what Woodward and Bernstein uncovered and reported, either.

Looking forward to the Downton Abbey actors, and it'll be interesting to have The View interview one of The Real's co-hosts. I think Loni Love may have been a guest on The View before, but don't know about the others.

My coffee is not kicking in at all.   I’m looking forward to the cast of DA also but which host of the Real will they interview? I’m a long time Loni fan but don’t watch The Real.

Great observation. She never reveals her 'polls' she references because it will ruin her agenda. Tucker Carlson could counter that on his show and say according to a poll, "1 in 100 white people believe..." and his comment would be just as valid as hers. Without anyone revealing a source for their polls (and letting the viewers do the research on the pollster) it's not a convincing argument.

And when she revealed her 'poll results' today, I wish Whoopi would've  jumped in and say her usual comment :  "Now y'all know I don't pay attention to polls. People lie all the time when answering polls so I don't believe any of them. I think they're all bull *bleep*. They mean nothing."

Then do a close-up on Sunny's face, and watch her reaction.

So Sunny spent her weekend at one of the HBCU graduations this weekend, and addressed the graduates of North Carolina A&T State University with her commencement speech. Congratulations, Sunny.

I was waiting for her to say that after the Graduation speech, Gabriel had tears in his eyes when she walked off the stage and told her he wanted to leave Harvard and attend North Carolina A&T State University; that going to an HBCU was more important to him than going to an Ivy Leaguer. Of course, she can't be prouder of him.

They were referring to those same poll numbers on Nicolle’s show today, she and Michael Steele. They didn’t cite the source either.

And they still hold zero credibility when not cited, no matter who's reporting it.

Well of course nobody asked multiple Oscar host Billy Crystal about The Slap because Whoopi didn’t want to respond to what his answer would have been. Which is that it was shocking and shameful and Will Smith should have been escorted out of that auditorium immediately.

PBS Newshour often has poll results between stories and also does not cite sources. Disappointed because the poll results are in writing on the screen. It would take so little to cite the source. So much about a poll can be manipulated. Not sure who really thinks what anymore. Except they think we are not noticing their inadequacies.

I would agree with this if the timing was closer to the Oscars. But that happened nearly two months ago, everyone has said what they had to say and moved on. Now the focus is on The Tonys, which he has been nominated for and that's what they focused on.

This interview wasn't about Hollywood - this was about Broadway. This was his campaign to the Tony voters to give him the Tony next month (did he mention enough times how he loves being on stage, he loves a live audience, how long it took him to bring this vision to the stage, he loves Broadway. it's an 'amazing' experience, etc. ?)

It was also his campaign to get asses in seats.

Wow, Ana is on fire today. She is saying exactly what needs to be said.

I just watched this this morning, Ana was indeed on fire.  She sure knows how to get her point across.  There is something simultaneously dramatic and authentic in her delivery.  The only thing disconcerting was hearing Joy repeatedly trying to butt in.

For some reason, Joy seems to think that the people who haven't voted would vote to support her positions if they did vote. That is not logical. You can't know what some other person (especially someone you don't know) will do. For all she knows, if all those folks voted, the opposition would have that many more votes.

I agree that more people should vote, but the idea is that the more people who vote, the closer the results will be to what the majority of people care about. If that doesn't happen to match your preferences, perhaps you can persuade more people in the future, but you have to at least think about what all those "other" people find compelling.

I wish Whoopi thought more before she spoke. On the "Melania was never on the Vogue cover" topic, Whoopi gave a kind of confusing speech that seemed to imply that Michelle Obama was the first black woman on the cover, which is not true by decades. I think she meant that Michelle was the first black First Lady on the cover, which is certainly true, but not very significant in the discussion about which First Ladies got covers. It appears that not many First Ladies actually got the cover; most had pictures inside. As the only (so far) black First Lady, Michelle is going to be the "first" in many areas but being the first black woman on the cover of Vogue isn't one of them.

It sounds as though Melania tried to get a guarantee she'd be on the cover and if she wasn't then she'd pass on the feature. I suppose as a former model she might expect that she should be on the cover, but maybe Vogue's editors don't care to be extorted.

To compare him with Tucker reaching only '3 million Americans in a country of 327 M, in a day and age with thousands of sources to get one's news is ridiculous. 3 M viewers for a cable news show is pretty impressive today.

I actually found it reassuring, in a way, that he is only reaching 3 million daily.  I'd have thought the number was a lot higher.

Does she teach her kids that when they go to a major city in America they could be killed by another person with the same skin color because of this spiraling problem called 'Black on Black crime'  ? She seems to pick and choose what to warn her kids about.

Black on Black crime is not a real thing. Most crime in intra-racial - Blacks are more likely to kill Blacks and Whites are more likely to kill Whites.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/factcheck/2020/09/29/fact-check-meme-shows-incorrect-homicide-stats-race/5739522002/

"In 2018, the Federal Bureau of Investigation reported that 81% of white victims were killed by white offenders, and 89% of Black victims were killed by Black offenders.

In 2017, the FBI reported almost identical figures — 80% of white victims were killed by white offenders, and 88% of Black victims were killed by Black offenders."

We all know that "black on black crime" nonsense is a a racist dogwhistle.

Exactly.

Funny how white on white crime is a phrase that is never used. I guess that wouldnt figure into certain agendas.

On a superficial note. Joy and Whoopi seem to be shrinking lol. They both looked so short walking out today.

Tucker Carlson may only reach 3 million from his show's ratings, however, I think that his ridiculously offensive and inaccurate statements garner him more "clicks" or views, as other news outlets and media websites report on the stupid nonsense he spews, often with embedded video clips.  (That's the only way I ever see anything he says.)  He knows that the more outrageous he is, the more others will talk about him.  Personally, I don't think even he believes half the shit that comes out of his mouth (and, I CANNOT STAND HIM!!!) - he says this stuff to create buzz which in turn, feeds his overly large ego.  He may believe a portion of it, but I think he's just playing the game.

Even The View is guilty of showing clips of his show.
