Ana, mass shootings happen anywhere. Any small town can suffer a shooting.

SCOTUS has to decide if states can create laws to get around Fed law or not. They can’t have it both ways.

I got my booster yesterday! 😃

Congrats on your booster!  I got mine a week ago and the good news is that, at least with mine, there were zero side effects.

Not loving the new combative Sunny.

I didn’t have any side effects either, Bronze.

Yeah, Sunny was going after Ana today.

I’m glad Dr Dyson shut down Sara’s justification of parental discomfort.

Whoopi is too busy feeding her face to participate in the show. She’s not even listening.

Good show, and I enjoyed seeing Padma again. She was a contributor when Michelle, Raven, and Candace were on the show and, while I came to like Michelle over time, I didn't think any of those three were a good fit and was rooting for more co-hosts of substance like Padma and Ana. I'm glad Ana at least managed to stay with the show over the years.

Sara's question about CTR to the guest was such an uncomfortable moment. What she was asking them to do was treat something false as being real. If a person has any decency at all, they're not going to sell out like that, whatever the consequences for the truth end up being. I'm not surprised there's always been a bit of coldness between her and Sunny over the years taking into consideration the past couple of days. People can often sense who their allies are and who they aren't.

I didn't realize Ana had been there for so long.  And i loved her story about taking care of the newbie.  She can be tough when need be, and then turn around and lick ones wounds. She probably has a deal w. TPTB that if and when (or not at all) she decides to join the table full time the chair is hers. However if she wants to stay part time, they'll keep interviewing. I can't see them going this long w.o her job at the very least, get an offer.  I can see her as a New Yawker.  She's the quintessential NY'er. Fit right in. Take the job Ana!

Lately it seems as though TPTB have said that someone has to bring up CRT at least one time per show.

I really enjoyed Ana and Sunny's exchanges today on gun control.   Anna acknowledged Sunny's argument and then provided a different perspective without stating or implying Sunny's perspective was wrong.   Sunny while still fired up, heard Ana and acknowledged her perspective.   At the end of the discussion it was obvious she and Sunny were still friendly.   This is what the show should aim for in finding a new host.

Also loved Eric Michael Dyson asking the question how then do you want race taught in schools?   Sarah's response was silent just like most others arguing against faux CRT.

With regards to the 2nd Amendment discussion.  When that amendment was written there weren't too many arms you could conceal or even carry easily.  The founding fathers were not thinking about 9 mm revolvers being in someone's pocket.

At one point today Sunny said that 55% of white women in Virginia said they voted Republican because they didn't want CRT in the schools.

The percentage she mentioned was actually 57% for CRT and they were taken from exit polls, they said. Sunny was right that it was almost double the 33% that the guest co-host yesterday brought up for being the economy number.

I think she first said 55% and then said 57% but probably she misspoke the first time. One problem comparing percentages is that you have to take into consideration percentage of what number of people. 57% of only white women polled may not represent more people than 33% of everyone polled. I think that news reports love percentages because they always seem more impressive than raw numbers in most cases. There are exceptions, though. At least initially, COVID reports tended to emphasize numbers rather than percentages.

A lot of what she said was tone deaf and even though she seemed to be hearing what Whoopi and Sunny were saying I don't think she was listening to what they were saying.

And she was very dismissive of what Sunny was saying about Colin K.  I watched the Netflix show and what Sunny was saying was true.  All Colin ever wanted to be was a QB in the NFL.  Michelle said he has money, he  has a Nike deal, he has a Netflix deal.  As if all that makes up for the fact he has effectively been blackballed from doing the one thing he wants to do simply because he took a knee to bring attention to something pretty fucking important.

I agree with this all the way!

For me even if she's tone deaf, she didn't have MM's nasty tone all around.

Yes, she inserted herself, but she did NOT continue to talk OVER the panel (speaking simultaneously) until Whoopi says "enough".

With very strong personalities such as Joy & Whoopi (and now Sunny), if a guest host doesn't try to insert herself, she is looked upon as weak. Where's the debate/discussion in that??

Agree to disagree, because I thought she did very well and held her own. She didn't even back down when Sunny was trying to control the conversation her way.

I’m not sure what anyone’s point was about independents. Unless they are strongly for one party of course they will say they are independents, registered or not, but they do end up voting for major party candidates. I do believe that is the majority of people in this country. And FTR here in IN we can vote in any primary we want, regardless of party affiliation or no affiliation. Sunny is being extra argumentative again today.

Sorry, Jed Paula, Aaron Rodgers is a lying liar who lies. He put his whole team in jeopardy (heh) because of his arrogance.

I was expecting Meredith or Elisabeth judging by the shadow--so I was surprised to see Paula! I didn't even think of her. I always enjoyed her (an unpopular opinion, I know), it was nice to see her again.

I felt like there were so many things said by all the women in the first segment that I agreed with even if Sara and Joy were mostly where I am. I agreed with Sara that this is a centrist country, not necessarily a center-right one, and also thought Sunny was right that most independents generally vote one way despite calling themselves independent, they just don't like to own a label. Joy was on the mark with saying that that statement was a deflect by Manchin from the fact that a vast majority of his own state support both bills, and is (as she said) more indicative of the fact that he's getting money from various industries. But I agreed with Ana on the point that there is a huge difference between Manchin, who at least is open and seems to be trying to some degree, from Sinema. Her description of Sinema as a bait and switch of someone running as one thing while governing as another was a bull's-eye, imo.

Oh, I disagree. Tafoya was definitely nasty, but it was more Elisabeth than MM level and was bearable for me because she didn't scream, the other ladies were able to respond to her spin, and nobody had to restrain what they could say to make her look good. I loved when Whoopi gave her her rudeness right back to her and how the audience cheered for both Sunny and Whoopi at different points in the Kaepernick discussion.

I live in Manchin's state and people support the bills once you explain it to them.  However Manchin has never been one to give a shit about the people in his state. He cares about the people who donate to his campaign.

She struck me as someone who doesn't mind not being liked.  Although I do think she was a little surprised the audience wasn't agreeing with her.   There was a smugness there I didn't like. She could handle a debate a lot better than Meghan but that doesn't mean what she was saying wasn't wrong.    All in all I thought she came across as a know it all. Especially about Colin K.  Sunny interviewed the man for fuck sake.  She had a much greater insight to him than Tafoya.  I think she looks at him as a football player and Sunny looks at him as a human being.

When I was a kid...maybe six years old, I heard my mother tell a friend that my youngest sister was "a mistake."  Of course, I repeated it--eventually to that sister...for years. My mother probably meant a lapse in her rhythm method.  My sister learned to counter with, "God doesn't make mistakes!"

I was (coincidentally) in the hospital for five days and no one cared to ask WHERE my head aches.  They did a CT scan but said only "no bleeds, no aneurysms." They did give me sheets of "information" upon discharge regarding "Tension Headaches."  My headaches are NOT in the location of their diagrams.  Seeing a pain specialist (re the hospital visit) on 11/11.  Maybe he will have some ideas.  OY!

Sorry to hear about your headaches! They can be very difficult to figure out sometimes. I used to get tension headaches all the time, and mine seemed to originate with my neck and shoulders, but I know other people have them based other places. Also, consider sinus problems - the headaches related to that (in my case) don't always show up just near the sinuses. Depending on your age and gender, there might be an estrogen factor as well with your headache. I had migraine type headaches every month for a number of years, and the doctors speculated that this was related to the monthly cycles. Who knows, though. Good luck with the pain specialist!

Acupuncture may help.  I was skeptical with migraines, a myriad of issues.  I felt relief the first visit and now i try hard to only feel good and get a tuneup once in awile hah.  She is so good, knows all the diff things you can do.  Or try an exderine migraine. That helped too.  Seriously feel better.  I know how incapacitating in can make you.  Dim the lights, crawl in bed, ice a towel and put it in the back of your neck.

Woah! I don't remember that, but I do remember her saying she liked doing her boys' laundry and whatnot but that her daughter could take care of her chores herself. I found that alone off-putting. She sounds like she has internalized misogyny.

I did generally like Paula. She seemed nice and fun. But one of my pet peeves is when women say they prefer sons to daughters, male friends to female friends, etc. I have no problem talking about the different issues between raising sons vs daughters or pros and cons of both male and female friends, it's being all loving toward men and boys and preferring them to women and girls that I don't appreciate.

It seems strange to believe that anyone registering as Independent would only vote for "Independent" party candidates. If everyone had to vote for whatever party they registered as, what would be the point of having elections other than for non-partisan issues? As an Independent voter, I vote for whichever candidates come closest to what I would like to see done. Although as someone else pointed out, now I get calls and mail from everyone when it gets close to election time. I don't know if registered voters from other parties get the same amount of stuff.

Sunny's argument that "Independents" didn't want the stink of a Republican label on them made no sense.  Did her father and the rest of the 49% Independents who voted Democrat not want the stink of Democrat on them? 49% vs 51% is a statistical tie in polling.  I suspect Sunny's father believes in the independence to vote his mind and makes a conscious choice each time rather than voting blindly for a D every time. Voters who think for themselves are what we need! Many independents are fiscally conservative but socially progressive, and may vote differently depending on the key issues and who is running in each federal, state, and municipal election. Many see voting for a third party candidate with no chance of winning as a wasted vote, so they vote strategically for who they think is the least worst person with a chance of winning.  Would Sunny vote against Abraham Lincoln if he were running today just because there's an R beside his name?

Some states, like Texas, don't even ask about party affiliations when you register. That is true in Canada too, and you can only vote in the primaries if you buy a party membership (~Cdn$10) and you can buy a membership in more than one. All parties can call everyone, not just party members, so around election time call display & call-blocking are essential!

Maybe Sunny's sample for Independent voters is small (as is mine). My experience is that few people vote for one party exclusively for all candidates. When I first started voting, we had the standalone voting machines with the curtains and the switches next to each candidate. At the top of each column was a switch that would automatically select every candidate for that party. Very easy and took no time to complete voting. Based on my observation of how long people stayed in the booth, most voters at least took time to individually select who they were voting for.
