I wonder how Tori Kelly's new Christmas album fits into the decision to eliminate three people tonight. It would be weird for her to go home when they're singing Christmas songs. I wonder if they're going to include some sort of promo for it during next week's sing-a-long.

Tori shouldn't have been eliminated tonight PERIOD JMHO. The format of tonight sucked. Its like TMS has some rule that more than one Female singer can't be in the Finale. Seahorse and Sun shouldve easily both sailed into F3. Nick Carter and Billy Porter are great but JMO Tori and Leanne kick everyone's ass.

Wow Chloe Kim? She’s got an amazing voice. I was also thinking it was a gymnast. 
 

All six finalists did a great job. I would have voted for the Crocodile over Tori because I think Nick has a much stronger voice than hers, but with all this publicity and fawning over her voice on the show  I’m sure her Christmas album is going to do well.

Sun is going to win it all. That has to be Leann Rimes, right? Not many people have as powerful of a voice as she does, and How Do I Live and I Need You are still one of my favorite songs. I still get teary eyed listening to those songs on the radio, and I had tears in my eyes listening to her beautiful acapella rendition of When the Party’s Over.

The Celeb contestants must really have put in hard limits on their availability. They could have easily had three more episodes in this season if they stuck to one elimination per episode. And a few more with all six remaining singers actually good at singing.

Craig Robinson should have been a contestant!

I think the pacing issue is a Covid thing, with the show wanting to keep the stars apart as much as possible. That opening two minutes is the only time the groups have mixed this season and there's no guarantee it was even the right people in the costumes. And as much as this season's been remarkably light on starpower compared to previous seasons, there's still been a couple of people here who were famous enough there was no guarantee they'd be able to come back if filming got suspended like the Australian version was when one of its dancers got Covid. The stupid, season-destroying pacing is a necessary evil here. (But that doesn't mean the show should escape criticism for how bad everything else has been this time around.)

In other news, of course Steven Tyler gets covered by the big-mouthed Crocodile. OF COURSE.

I don’t know very much about Jordan Fisher so was wondering why Nicole said it was him because of Mushroom’s hip forward walk, I’ve never seen JF walk like that. Can anyone enlighten me?

Well, it happened. I wonder if they'll invite her back next week anyway to participate. 

I agree with the consensus that the final 3 probably should have been Crocodile, Seahorse, and Sun. Mushroom's not that great IMO.

Group C was weak.  They shouldn't have paired it like that.  Tori or Taylor should be in the finals instead of mushroom.

Hmm...wonder what those "never-before-heard holiday songs" are going to be like. Tori Kelly actually has (at least) three new holiday songs on her album (that she wrote), plus one she doesn't have a writing credit on but looks like it could be a new song. Could those be what they sing?

I do wish they were singing traditional songs, though. It would be very amusing to see a pink crocodile singing "O Holy Night."

I would love to hear a holiday episode with classic songs, Crocodile doing Jingle Bell Rock would be a great gift to all of us. 

Two years? Ken you monster! Wow, who knew Chloe Kim had such a great voice? I assume that they are moving quickly with the eliminations to reduce the people around because of COVID, but its really too bad. In a more regular season they could have kept this going for quite awhile longer, this is a really strong group of singers and I would have been happy hearing more of them. The pacing is annoying, but its better than not having the show at all, so I get it. 

I wonder if Craig Robinson will come back as a contestant sometime? The man can sing AND it seems like he would really get into the theatrics of it all. 

I think the Sun will take it all, she has an amazing voice, but everyone really did a good job. I hate that Tori got eliminated.

The description says, "the already unmasked singers join together to perform their favorite holiday jingles," so I assume she'll be there.

The ott salivating they did over Tori made me really happy she was gone. The greatest singer of her generation? Bit much lol.

I think the judges are definitely being fed more clues than we are. Also, they must have lists of who the singers could be. Especially when they guess the more obscure singers. Especially Jenny.

She's not Arianna Grande or Dua Lipa A-level of currently famous, but she's definitely worked her way up to the C plus or possibly B minus level probably.  She's been the main star of a reasonably successful animated film, won a Grammy, been a staple of various holiday TV for a few years, etc. Successful by most measures, very talented, yes, but not a universal household name.

I haven't been watching since the first few episodes, just reading here. I've never heard of Chloe Kim or Craig Robinson. I know Tori Kelly for her song "Should've Been Us". Other than that I don't know any of her other songs. It seems like they were trying really hard to make her a star some years ago but it didn't really happen. I'm familiar with Taylor Dayne, but I only know "Tell it to my Heart".

Craig was on all the seasons of The Office, and is often the token Black dude in the Seth Rogen movies. He's really good at music and comedy and he mixes them often. He'll be a great host for the dance show I plan to hate-watch. Hey! I watch both of these Masked shows because of my crushes on the hosts. Whatever works in quarantine, yo!

I've never heard of Chloe, Tori, Taylor, Paul Anka (except the dog on Gilmore Girls), The Hartman-Blacks, Dr. Elvis, or Mark Sanchez. 

If Nick Carter, Billy Porter, and LeAnn Rhimes are who you say they are, I know them! So this is actually quite the odd season, after Busta, BAG, and Wendy Williams, the unmasked people kept getting less and less famous. But the final three MAY be "household" names. 

I will add: Tori Kelly's voice sounds so much like OG Jessica Simpson (back when she sang!) that I think the clues were meant to guess her. But Seahorse has earned a fan out of me and should have been in the final over Mushroom. Also, Dr Elvis has such a similar voice to Leslie Odom Jr (I watched his viral videos this week from April) and he could quit his day job and tour with Hamilton.

Perhaps, but she won her Grammy AFTER the period I think you're referring to. Although I'm not sure who "they" is in this context. I mean if you mean her record label, isn't that ALWAYS their job? But I do agree there was a period where you saw her on talk shows and such more often. But she's hardly disappeared.  She's mainly a gospel singer, even if she veers towards pop. The main comparison I can think of is Amy Grant. Isn't there an understandable cap on how mainstream successful that can make someone?  On that metric, Tori is shockingly successful.

Okay cool. Lol back when I watched more award shows and things, I remember her performing at the Grammys and appearing on lots of other shows. I like her, but she didn't seem to become the mainstream pop star that "they" tried to make her. That was all I was saying. But good for her on her success anywhere else.

A good argument for the position that nobody knows her though is I literally JUST got done watching a live Christmas show she free streamed on her YouTube channel (well, prerecorded but live stream broadcast).  There was actually some real money put into this too. Full band, done from Capitol Records, edited, perfect sound quality. And it only had 5200 viewers. That's right. 5200. Now they're likely after to put it up as a permanent video there and she has 2.86 million YouTube subscribers, but I'm betting this by Christmas only picks up a few hundred thousand views.  We shall see. It does put perspective on things. She's operating above a niche, but is far from a superstar.

Which, I'm sure, is why Tori did The Masked Singer.  Some people do it for fun and some do it for the exposure.  She's very talented and now more people know who she is (those that watch TMS anyway).

I don’t find matchups, like these, fair.  They end up sending home contestants, who are better than the others.

 I don’t know any of these people they keep guessing or unmasking. Except Taylor Dane.

They gave one singer away in the commercial bump - where Ken exclaimed that he was right. Ken also seems to be the only one who doesn’t get help from his ear monitor.
