I would much rather attend a Superb Owl party than a Superbowl party. And we found out about Jenna! Who seems to have turned on her invisibility permanently.

Love that Guillermo went looking for virgins and found Vampire Hunters instead. Who are also virgins.

While some of the vampire hunters are virgins,  I can't imagine Craig Robinson's character being one.

Oops.  Moving this to here from the other ep thread:

Another 30 minutes of memorable lines I can reuse and cackle inanely over, while no one around me gets the joke*:

*so pretty much business as usual

"You're not a Bible, but you make my eyes burn" (Nadja, holding up the Ugly Purse)

"I'm going to get my head-ripping gloves"

AND:

"Superb Owl". Fucking genius.  Next year I'm calling my party *that...I'll spend the year collecting owl stuff for it.

I want the soundtrack for this season.  I've loved all three closing credits songs (plus the intro).  It would feel super appropriate if I could do a mixed tape of them🤔

Superb Owl Party! Too bad the owl never showed up...

Craig Robinson! Looks like, after giving up stealing cars, Doug Judy went into the vampire fighting business! Of course Guillermo accidentally finds a group of vampire hunters as he looks for virgins, thats just the way his life has been lately! We even get some follow up with Jenna and her roommate!

I loved Guillermo's expressions while they talked about familiars. Offended when they were talking about how pathetic they were, and giving a "yeah, thats fair" expression when they said how vampires were cruel masters, including a picture of a familiar having a clean up blood.

Nador, Nadja, and Laszlo trying to give their brain scrambled neighbor a nice night out after they gave him the scramblies and before they kill him was kind of thoughtful, in a weird vampire way. I mean, it all worked out eventually, more or less. "Boys, we did something good tonight!"

Another awesome episode.

I think my favorite moments were with Nadja and Joanie. I always find it hysterical when someone says something fantastical, my brain automatically thinks, "no way", and it turns out to be true. I didn't think Jeff would actually turn out to be Gregor's reincarnation, and tonight's episode where Joanie recants her stories about Nadja. "You taught me the Dance of the Ancient Soothsayer". Too, too funny.

I recognized the actor who played Frank (the tall guy in the ballcap at Shawn's house), but I couldn't place him so I looked him up on IMDB. Gavin Fox played Gared on Killjoys. Glad to see he's getting work even if it's a small role.

I love that he types in a search for "virgins in my area" and gets porn sites. Of course.

It was driving me crazy where I knew that one female vampire hunter from (billed as Tonya although I'm not sure they ever said her name) - she's Abigail Savage and was in Orange is the New Black.

I was getting worried we were going to go all season without a "Bat!"

"We're taking a human shit!"

Best visual - Nandor and Laszlo levitate and Nandor bumps his head on the ceiling.

And then his face when they told him they wanted him to come back not just for help, but because they thought he was cool. I can't get over how much I love what they're doing with Guillermo, hanging around with people who are toxic (to and for him, at least) because he's so focused on being a vampire, while he's got other people eager to be his friends who are even what he really is, a vampire hunter.

I wonder if there really was a great Van Helsing baker somewhere. LOL.

Was so happy to see Craig Robinson and, as was noted above, the girl from OitNB. Plus I love that Jenna's roommate gets a story.

Such boiled potatoes.

And that he does it every time!

I love that they even had an owl sign when they showed up.  Not gonna lie, a superb owl party sounds like a lot of fun. (And it took me an embarrassingly long time to realize it was the way it was spelled and not just the vampires mishearing things).

Guillermo's stunned, horrified realization was played perfectly. "Its like if I had great bakers in my family. But I am a pretty great baker....oh..."

Nadjia still wants her necklace back but eh, she'll just wait until they're dead.

Bear!

If people can travel again and you get to Las Vegas, there's a Harry Potter inspired coffee shop chain Bad Owl Coffee.

I was wondering if Guillermo woud meet a hunter this year, and he met a group!  I didn't suspect anything until I saw Craig Robinson, and they started grilling Guillermo on his feelings about 'blood suckers.'  Nice addition with Jenna's roommate, and Guillermo apologizing to her.

When the vamps summoned the wild animals to run with/at the neighbor, I was expecting wolves, and got a laugh from the dog pack, especially the beagles.

I was delighted!  It's just something about how Matt Berry says it.

Ain't no party like a Superb Owl party! Brain Scramblies! Jewel Hunting! Colin Robinson filling up on human suffering! Oh, and destiny pushes poor Guillermo against his livelihood. In Gizmo's defense, the average person probably would assume mosquito enthusiasts would be virgins. That's probably not the case, but still . . .

Nadja's gem contains the sound of her mother getting mauled by a bear. You know, I think we'd be disappointed if it didn't.

I didn't understand why they were advertising themselves as a mosquito appreciation club or whatever. At first I thought it was a trap for familiars, the way they were grilling Guillermo about how he felt about bloodsuckers. I mean, they obviously know that vampires seek out virgins and that they are procured through their familiars.

Check out the expression on Colin's face as he's standing in the doorway while Sean fights with his wife. Grinning so hard it's positively evil. I've never seen him look that scary before.

Oh, and not for nothing, but who knew Kayvan Novak cleaned up so well?

I'm glad it wasn't just me. I rewound back to them all standing on the porch because suddenly Colin looked like an actual scary vampire!

They did some CGI with his eyes too - they glow!

I loved the classic Colin adjusting the TV brightness and color settings slowly, and explaining what he was doing,  while everyone else just wanted to watch the Super Bowl.

Crazy fun!  Lots of really great moments, a little weirdness of course, and a few twists.  I liked how the old lady next door may be demented, but she remembers Nadja (and Nadja did attack her, but no one believed her).  Colin in the background feeding off the negative vibes of the neighbors fighting was great.  Subtle.  And the neighbor got his brain scrambled, but it was a Superbowl party and they were all drunk so none of his buddies noticed anyway.

Since Guillermo was separated from the vampires the entire episode, his story got some nice progress.  Things are getting really interesting in the slayer department.

They've done that CGI "glowing eyes" effect with Colin before but it's usually a blink and miss it kinda thing. Maybe it's been in the episode where he attends the community meeting and the one where he dates Evie.

"Superb Owl Party" was a simple, but hilarious gag.  That is totally something I could see those three thinking the Superbowl is!  And, of course, Colin would only half-heartedly try and correct it!

I'm glad they were able to avoid having to actually kill Sean, but even if losing all of his memories has helped make him be more loving to his wife again, I have to imagine that there will... well, cause some issues going forward.  At least he'll always have his Ocean's 12 memorabilia!

Love that Nandor's go to excuse for the secret meetings with Laszlo was "We're taking a human shit together!"

Nadja was the MVP for this episode.  Natasia Demetriou was killing it left and right here.

Colin sucking the energy from Sean's friends was great.  I thought one of them looked familiar, and I see that it was because he played Gavin on Killjoys.  Nice!

Of course, Guillermo's hunt for more virgins has somehow led him into an actual Vampire Hunter club!  And he's already impressing them with his knowledge and accidental crossbow skills!  Craig Robinson as their leader is a great choice!  I also like how they've worked in Jenna's former roommate as well.  This should be good!

“Better to not watch the game at all, than to watch in the wrong format, right?”

Oh Colin, don’t make me love you!
