Same here.  I guess it is a completely normal and expected event for them.  I just wish they elaborated more.

To be fair I believe Nicholas said they cringed if they saw him being affectionate with Amrit, but still.  As long as organized religion is around, homophobia will be around.  The good thing is Nicholas is creating his own family with Amrit, that's when his parents will stop being his family and start being his relatives.

My organized religion (Lutheran) welcomes the LGBTQ community.

I didn’t catch that the cringing was about PDA, that does make a difference.

Everybody bugging Brian  about getting married was getting on my nerves. Leave the guy alone, he's only 29 and he's not ready. If his girlfriend is ready then that's her problem. Maybe she needs to find someone else.  Why aren't they on Anisha who is 36 and not married?

I'm sure Anisha is feeling the pressure as well. It's always worse for women, and it doesn't help that you're viewed as a leper if you're in your 30s and unwed. Brian can continue to be a bachelor until he's ready, if ever, while Anisha is an old maid.

Brian obviously isn't ready, and while Dr. Monica should read the writing on the wall, if she hasn't already, but he should also be an adult and tell her that he doesn't want to get married. Don't drop hints.

But that's the crux of the problem, right?  Brian isn't an adult, he's still a boy.  Anyone watching that scene at the restaurant can see that Brian is not ready for marriage.  I just hope Monica can see it.

I really hate that little snot fucker dillon. He is determined to  make himself the central 'character' and he has the absolute least value/appeal of any of them - next to bali. I think I need to start surfing away from the show as soon as he opens his self-righteous pie-hole and try to come back to see the people who are genuine and worth watching.

I think Bravo put him on because 1) he is gay and 2) to add contrived drama to the show.

No.

1) Amrit is 1000% better than dillon any day. As are his interactions with his parents and Nani.

2) The everyday interactions of all these loving families is ample, comfy entertainment to put a smile on my face and keep me coming back for more.

Get rid of dillon's ass and I will be much happier with the show and not have to feel Bravo is trying to turn it into another RH porn/slut/fest.

don't know.  I think the crying might connected to the fact that all feminine gay men are subject to the threat of physical violence, so fear is an everyday part of life.  That the threat of violence, albeit ridiculous, came from within his family/friend circle might've been a factor.  I still stand that an effeminate gay men living his truth in this sometimes homophobic world is brave, even if said person is an asshole.

I see a great deal of difference between dillon running around telling people vishal is giving out blow jobs and someone who has been victimized by the anti-lgbtq bloc. dillon is his own worst enemy. He has no filter. He will never stop until someone beats the snot out of him when he runs his mouth too often to the wrong people.

Being born to money and privilege can not protect him from accountability to whomever (how subjectively it may be) he gives offense. As far as the show is concerned, all he ever had to do was sincerely (HAH!) apologize to Vishal and STOP RUNNING HIS MOUTH!

Because I have seen this, I think it is true that the more effeminate appearing gay men are often subjected to the threat of violence more so than others, and this is something I would have expected dillon to be aware of. I do think he is well aware of it and is making certain to use the threat of victimization from others to his own advantage. He is not a worthy addition to this show.

The fashions on this show are so bright and beautiful!  I just love all the colors and sparkle.  I give props to the editors who showed Bali walking to the high tea in that red petal hat and immediately cut to a peacock strutting in the yard.

This has got to be my favorite Bravo show right now.  None of the toxicity of the Shahs or the Housewives, Family Karma seems to be a beacon of light-hearted reality in a barren Bravo landscape.  So many scenes to love:  1. Nicholas and Amrit's mom's conversation, 2. Amrit, Vishal and Dillon at the drag show, 3. Anisha's date (lock him down, he's gorgeous!), 4. Brian still being the cutest 29 year-old adolescent, and of course, the proposal.  I'm praying they all keep their heads, and don't let their reality show exposure change them into the famewhores of the Shahs or RH's.

This is my favorite too, but I don't care for Dillon and Shaan.

And Brian, not sharing his job loss with Mon 2.0.  Not. Good.  They have been dating for a while and that sort of lie is enough to end a relationship.

Love the underwear business.  The boy shorts were cute.

That, and Brian having a heart attack at Dr. Monica mentioning she'd like to have kids  Doesn't bode well for little Brian.  He'd be better off with an emotional equal, like a college freshman.

Brian does not seem at all close to being ready to settle down.  Mon 2.0 should look elsewhere if she really wants to start a family.  She'd be dragging him into marriage, and then dragging him into fatherhood, or at least trying to until she realized she doesn't want that.

The younger generation is Americanized enough to have lost some of that and I really wish they would look more to their parents and the aunties - there's a reason the have become such honorable people. I cannot see dillon ever reaching that level.

Sometimes one underestimates the acceptance of the older generation. Not quite the same thing but my father who was born in 1918 moved into an Assisted Living facility which had a population mostly of Jews from that era. Most of them weren't deeply religious but were definitely culturally so.

When Proposition 8 was on the ballot in 2008, he told me that most of the other residents also voted to support gay marriage - there was also a great deal of support for Obama.  My father who was 90 in that year manned a table for Obama at the Grove :-).

Anisha cracks me up. She's very funny and self -deprecating. I thought she had great conversation with her date. She seemed very at ease and confident even if she wasn't. She has her faults but I hope she finds love and has babies.

Brian wasn't cute in the Dr. Monica conversation at all.  He would have to build up a new client base.  She would have to find new patients.  Same same.  It seemed like he was trying to get her to break up with him.

Dr. Monica can do much better. She's a complainer, that's because she's not happy with the relationship. Brian is a man child.

Man, the aunties sure like to use their curse words. Especially the F word.

Amrit's mom and dad are so awesome. Talking about the wedding attire. Mom said something about Amrit getting a nice outfit, dad says they should get a BOGO! I love these people.

Sad to hear about Risha's sister. Now I understand why her mom is so nasty to Vishal. She's afraid another man is going to take her other daughter away, so she takes it out on Vishal.

I like Monica's mom and Dad getting together for dinner. They were nice to each other and funny together for the sake of Monica. Good job, parents!

At first I thought Monica was asking for too much.  But now I see her parents are putting their differences aside for their daughter's sake.  How refreshing!

Maybe I’m a bad person, but I wondered if Risha’s sister chose to disengage from the family because her mom is such a negative / toxic person and treated her husband the way Lopa does Vishal.

That could be very true. The sister doesn't talk to Risha either which is strange. They haven't seen or spoken in 10 years. Something big must have gone down. Either the husband is a controlling weirdo or Lopa is well.....Lopa.

I am confused: is it common to pronounce Diwali as DiVali?  I’d always pronounced it with the W as have my family and friends.  Heck they even say it with a W on that episode of The Office.  Maybe it’s a regional thing?

I think many Indian languages and Hindi at least, don't distinguish between v and w. In my family we say both and I slip back and forth myself.

दीपावली- Deepavali, - it's usually transcribed with a v for some reason.

The shorter form, diwali, is usually transcribed with a w.

But as for the pronunciation of both- it can go either way, v or w.

Paging Dr. Monica:  A 29 year-old who lives at home with Mom and Dad is not an Alpha male!

Eh, I won't fault Brian for that since it's clearly cultural. I wouldn't be surprised if Dr. Monica lives with her family as well. It's a U.S. thing to put your kids out at 18 and never expect them to come home again.

Brian's immaturity should really be what drives Dr. Monica away.

It's good that they had a come to Jesus meeting about finances. However, they should split because they're going to end up resenting each other. If he moves to Tampa and has a hard time getting his career off the ground, he'll blame her because he let her get her own way and force his hand to move. If she moves to Miami and he doesn't propose, she'll be upset because she could've stayed home instead of uprooting her life. As the old folks say, they're "unequally yoked." I would be very surprised if they're still together.

I don’t see Brian and Monica lasting. He’s said he’s not ready and I believe him. I don’t think Vishal is ready either. If he felt he couldn’t live without Richa, he’d have gotten a place by now.
I really like Monica’s dad. . I am glad the parents shared a scene together.

I have to wait to watch WWHL, but I've seen a clip of Anisha and Monica going at it.  Monica 100% struck a nerve with Anisha, but Andy was 100% wrong when he said Monica used the word jealous.  She did not say jealous.  I know because Andy said roll the tape back, so I did and she didn't.

Did Bali even have a moment on the show besides being invited to parties?  Have I just completely blanked out on her scenes?  She's an Auntie in Denial.

Gator King?  What?  A chicken wire barrier?  And then the guy just hangs out in the water, casually stroking the gator's head?  And it looked like there wasn't an easy escape route out of the chicken wire barrier swimming pool, if things went wrong?

But for some reason Anisha is wrong for pointing that out.

Richa sounds REALLY excited to marry Vishal.  She needs to admit she doesn't want to marry him, they work better as friends and let him go so he can find someone who is excited to be with him.

I don't think Anisha is wrong, but I do think the circumstances are different.   Monica lived with her dad after her parents divorced and (hard to tell with Monica not being honest about her life all the time.....) we saw her trying to work things out with mom this season.  Last season, I thought that Anisha said something about the relationship between her mom and Monica.

But!  I've only seen 2 minutes of the fight, haven't seen Bali spilling tea, so I have a tiny amount of context for WWHL last night.

I just found a clip of Bali spilling tea.  She made me laugh when Monica said she was trying to get to know them and Bali responded "We grew up together".  Really?  They grew up together?  Isn't Bali at least 20 years older then Monica?  And living in India at some point?  Maybe Anisha and Monica grew up together (thinking there is a 10-15 year gap?), but Bali?

The (old) tea Bali spilled was Monica was leading Brian on while dating Rish on the low.  Dharma even said at the beginning of this season that Monica 1 was leading Brian on.  Brian didn't disagree with what Bali said.

Monica was probably mad at Anisha's comment about her spending the night at Brian's room because Monica was dating Rish and didn't want him to know that.

I think there's a 10 year gap between Bali and Anisha and probably a 15 year gap between her and Monica.  Bali's in a weird age ...she's too old for the kids but too young to be an auntie.

I noticed that too.  I don't trust that audience, I get a feeling they're all Andy's friends, employees, Bravolebrities and various sycophants.  I spotted Bruce Bozzi in the audience not too long ago.

Bingo!  On the nosey!

Anisha looked truly taken aback by Monica's comments.  Monica is assuring her job security for season 3 with an already established feud.  I loved that Bali stuck up for Anisha, and that Brian and Vishal found it to be highly entertaining.

It's this exactly. When Bali was a kid, she was in the HS age group while the "kids" were babies/toddlers. She wasn't old enough to be considered to be an auntie by the adults, but too old to be a true contemporary of the kids. All of these families have long histories together and as with many immigrant communities, there are probably only 2-3 degrees of separation for all of them vs. the 6 degrees it takes to get to Kevin Bacon.

My guess Anish and Monica don't like each other IRL. They have been forced into a fraudulent friend circle for the show as they are on opposite sides of the friend circle, but Monica is trying to maintain her "good Indian girl" persona while being as reality- show-shady as possible

I have a question. I'm someone new to WWHL, I only tuned in because of the Family Karma folks being on. Where does last night, specifically the blow up between Anisha and Monica, rank on the scale of WWHL drama? Barely drama, normal level of drama, or really out there?

The finale itself felt very low-key, I feel like the show suffered a bit by not having a big event to end on, the way it did last season with V/R's engagement party. The redo proposal just didn't carry the same weight.

Really out there, in my opinion.  WWHL is usually not a reunion wannabe.  It's usually two guests, a mix of celebrities from two different Bravo shows or a Bravo cast member and a celebrity "superfan" (there are a few, Michael Rapaport being one).  So it's usually more jokey.

I'll co-sign this. WWHL usually only has one of the combatants in a fight on at any time usually with a celebrity/Bravolebrity/influencer. So what's normal is a one-sided justification for tomfoolery. Having one person going after the other is pretty unusual (with everyone going after Michael Rapaport, being the exception).
