I don't know the details of the Bates sister moms (they called them partners, not sister moms), but a podcast I've been listening to did a deep dive on the Bates and I learned some interesting details. Kelly Jo also stated that she didn't have a heart for children at first. And Gil stated that he didn't really start enjoying his children until Erin came along! Yet they decided to have as many as possible. SMDH! I can see why KJ would not be Katie's first choice, but I'm puzzled as to why she chose Carlin. They must be really close.

Carlin is only 2 years older than Katie so she wasn’t her sister mom.  It’s Carlin (24), Josie ( 23), Katie (22). I know Alyssa was Josie’s sister mom so I am assuming Carlin and Katie had either Michael or Erin, though I think Erin got a pass because of her music.

It always seemed Katie and Josie were paired whilst Carlin was with Tori on the TV show. Lately things have shifted where we never see Carlin with Tori or Josie. I’m guessing the sisters now gravitate towards other siblings more like them in current life situation, for example Tori and Erin. And I think the husbands factor in too. Kelton doesn’t seem like he would want to be around Evan, ie Leisure Boy too much. Plus besides C&E, who can drop everything and hang out at Katie’s house for a month? I would find it exhausting to be around the Stew Crew for even a day, but apparently Travis and Katie enjoy being with them.

Maybe not for someone who grew up in a chaotic, messy pen like the Bateses'. It probably feels normal for them.

From the way Katie was talking in a video a few weeks ago it sounded like she expected a lot of the family to visit to see the baby. That was when she first (I think) said Carlin would be staying for a while.

Travis said it is the first grandchild in his family, and he thought they would be waiting outside in their cars, because of limitations on visitors.

His family being super excited is understandable, but why her family cannot wait until they pay a visit to Tennessee with the baby I don't get. I hope it was just her excitement talking.

I feel bad for Katie because she's truly excited for her family to visit her new baby, but I don't think it will pan out that way.  Like ozziemom mentioned, Carlin's the only one who hops on planes at a whim. The youngest daughters might as well get used to the disappointment now. By the time they're having kids, they'll be lucky to have Kelly visit (and she's only there for attention and to get away from home). Nobody else will even take notice.

Oh, absolutely. I'm reminded of the Duggars' recent (Christmas, I think?) video where Jed's wife walked into the kitchen to announce her second pregnancy. Jana gave her a half-hearted congratulations before turning back to the buffet. I imagine after a while, nobody gives a shit.

Not sure of the total # of grandkids but the oldest, Bradley, son of Zac, is only 8 years old! So a Bates is having another grandbaby quite frequently. Erin has 5, her oldest is just a bit younger than Bradley. Tori, Alyssa and Zac each have 4 kids, so there are lots of grandkids, all around the same age. KJ is definitely losing interest, she won’t do more than stop by Katie’s for a photo and drop off presents. Apparently she loves to shop for her grandkids. By the time Callie or Ellie has a baby, they might just get a present.

So Evan said on his weekly vlog that they got home late Monday after driving 6 hours from Nashville. Katie called and said come so they did laundry, packed their bags again, jumped in the car and proceeded to drive 12 hours without any sleep to NJ. Talk about taking chances. All this so that they can hang out with K&T, play golf, shop and drive around looking for something to do while they wait for Katie to go into labor.

Maybe Travis and Evan have bonded over not being one of the guys. Travis is into sports but is so young compared to the older Bates brothers and sons in law. Evan is 28 (?) going on 15 so that may be the common ground.

So as they're sitting home twiddling their thumbs at Katie's, they're taking IG questions and someone asked if Evan missed electrical work. HAHAHA he goes "I miss the IDEA OF IT [of creating something with your hands] but waking up to my wife and kids is a big plus so it was a good trade off." LOL let me guess Evan you miss the paycheck but prefer to be lazy and roll out of bed at 10 am and party party until midnight nightly, right? And with yesterdays IG, nice to see now Carlin also being Tesla obsessed. Talking about how it's cold out so they NEED the Tesla? Uh Katie's other car is some kind of very new luxury jeep/SUV, I'm fairly certain it has heat. I'm calling it now, these two will have a Tesla by year end. Debt or no, solid finances or not. It's the latest toy their fixated on, just like they HAD TO buy the house ASAP even though it meant buying at the peak of the market - great purchase too given that they are hardly there enough to use it. 🙄 Oh wait the Tesla comes up again in TODAY's IG and oh yeah Evan helped Trav install the charger at the house so that's electrical work . . . .

So Zach goes to BSB daily - damn that's quite an admission. And yes she says Z is there daily "with the girls" - and W is a home schooling momma who juggles her schedule to be there certain days. Uh yeah so Z alone with a bunch of college age girls huh? She is like oh yeah we're there 2 full days a week with kids at babysitters. Uh no you're not bc you are out of town half the month and babysitters - we've all seen your kids spending the day rolling around on the floor.

And WTF they would like to have more kids and plan to expand their family but likely in a few yrs?? Uh you can't handle the two you have and don't want to work??

And talk about making themselves too comfortable, as Carlin is answering questions, Evan is throwing pillows around Katie/Trav's living room as he makes himself comfortable and lies down on their sofa?? Uh little too comfy there for a guest.

The fact that Evan doesn’t even talk about returning to work in the future is concerning. Leisure Boy loves his leisure life and thinks, as does his clueless wife, that SM is going to be their permanent source of income.

In 2-3 years, when Carlin said they will have more kids, their SM income will be next to nothing.  Unless they do something extraordinary, go viral, and can maintain that high level of engagement,  those two better start thinking about getting real jobs.  Even the boutique will run its course as another large, freak show family comes along.

I agree there's no way Evan is doing side jobs. If he was, we would've heard about it and it's unlikely given that they're never home. I also love how Carlin talks about those two days at the Boutique like it's some strenuous schedule. I get that their business model is pretty simple: buy cheap dresses from wholesalers, mark them up and resell, but I find it hard to believe Carlin is doing all this remote work. She also exposed herself a bit by the way she made it seem like the business just sort of runs itself. Zach handles the day to day management and the girls pack orders......so why exactly is Evan needed there full time? To post pictures from their photo shoots on Instagram? They were already doing that before he glommed on. There's no reason he shouldn't have some form of real employment.

My opinion is that Carlin and Evan should not be thinking about having more children for a few reasons: one is that they are immature children and do not know how to handle the two they have now; no order or schedule in their daily life; and most importantly, she should have these "episodes" diagnosed and fully behind her before becoming pregant with another child...ie, these episodes are OVER and in the past. I'm shaking my head at these two.

Have they stopped talking about her seizures?  When the money from social media dries up and it will, they are going to be in a world of hurt unless Evan grows up and realizes that he has financial responsibilities to his family. Evan trained and studied for 5 years to have  a great career and he is throwing it out the window to carry on like he is 18 years old with not a care in the world.

The "episodes" will come back when she needs more attention. I predicted earlier that it'll be after they leave New Jersey. No further mention of the five-day EEG that I've seen -- that'll start up again when they think they'll get clicks for it. 

I think the chances of either Evan or Carlin growing up are about the same as me playing in the WNBA. I'm 5'1" and not athletic.

Dude can’t hold down a job. They left his parents on Jan 30, in advance of Laylas bday on Jan 31. They say they were home for one day doing laundry etc and then took off on the 17 hr drive to NJ. It’s now Feb 7. What employer would just let you leave for a week - with no planned return date - bc baby watch at your sister in law’s house?? He knows what he’d be giving up having a job - the flexibility, mid day shopping and napping. He isn’t going back to that life until social media leaves them below the poverty line.

It seemingly doesn't fit into their schedule.  They first mentioned it fairly early in the saga last summer and were upset that the first available appointments were in October.  They apparently did not schedule the test but instead messed around visiting all kinds of other doctors, consulting with someone at Mayo Clinic and otherwise wasting time.  When October rolled around, Carlin was still having her episodes and they then complained that they now could not get an appointment for the 5 day EEG until January.  Evan even mentioned that perhaps the specialist at Mayo would help them bend the rules and get her in sooner which obviously did not happen.  January has now passed and still no test.

I have a couple guesses: 1. Carlin's doc has already explained that she is most likely having pseudoseizures or some other non-seizure-like event and that he/she is sceptical that a 5 day EEG will show otherwise. Carlin has already been to the cardiologist and multiple other docs; she's got all her eggs in the seizure basket and cannot afford to let it go.  She knows the leghumpers would have a tough time understanding psychologic causes, let alone that no medical cause is present,  Therefore, she's got to avoid the 5 day EEG to keep the dream alive, so to speak.

2. Carlin and Evan are willing to do the test but they need to come up with some special content for the 'gram.  Like a doctor telling them that her condition is so tenuous that she needs the test immediately and dramatically contacting the test center and telling them to throw someone else out because Carlin needs the test STAT!

3.  They are willing to do the test only if the kids, the dog and Evan can come along and only if they are allowed to film multiple daily updates for their fans.  So far, none of the testing centers are willing to allow this and there is no way Carlin can have the super duper cool test if they cannot monetize it.  It's like the tree falling in the woods with noone there to hear it.  Evan is certainly not staying home by himself with the kids for 5 days, either.  He is the headship!  How will he get to Starbucks every day?

Isn't the 5 day EEG at a TN hospital? TN seems to have left any covid protocols behind so I'm guessing Evan and the kids could hang at the hospital and film themselves in her room all they want. And surely Michaela would watch the kids for a day or two.

Did Carlin go radio silent at all in January? Maybe she did do it and it showed nothing.

Her answer about her health felt so weird. Lying? Omitting? I don't know what is was, but the weirdness was something.

I caught that too. Carlin was oddly cagey and not giving specifics, which is a complete turnaround from the over-sharing they've been doing since the episodes started. Adding to the list of possibilities: they've been given a diagnosis, but have to keep the charade going because clickbait medical drama is the only thing getting them views. If fans know it's resolved, then there's nothing to keep them on the hook.

I think they’ve backed themselves into a corner. Evan quit work because Carlin was having “seizures” and couldn’t be left alone. Now he HAS to be with her all the time, so she couldn’t go off to Katie’s with the baby while he stayed home with Lyla and worked. However will they straighten it all out so that she can once again be out on her own and he can go back to work once the SM money starts dwindling? I, myself, am expecting a miracle…

Per Katie’s IG the Stew Crew and the Clarks are bored. They are entertaining themselves by eating Katie’s hospital snacks. Good to see that 17 hour drive is paying off. It’s not like they have ever been bored at home. I must ask again; how can anyone parenting a 3 year old and a 10 month old be bored? With what time?

I wonder how much of this is because of the Bates chaotic upbringing. They are not used to downtime.  Most of them seem emotionally stunted and immature. Also, their father didn't really work either, so role model? And if Evan is basically lazy, this works for him too.

Evan's father was a hard working union guy. What Evan is doing is antithetical to his upbringing.

I just saw that! I guess after the first two or three Sbux/ChikFilA/date night cycles, the novelty wears thin. Admittedly, Katie's day to day life isn't all that different than Carlin's. She and Travis are basically the Stewarts with more resources, but I imagine it gets frustrating when you can't move around in your house the way you'd like to because a family of four is underfoot. As far as I know Katie doesn't have a scheduled induction, so she has to hope Carlin gets restless and bails soon after the baby is born.

Except we’ve heard many times that he was spoiled as the first boy after 4 girls so perhaps Evan was held to a different standard even by his dad??? Evan certainly prefers fiddling around with his camera/phone/laptop and he does have some editing and filming skills, but not sure how long the YouTube videos will earn much $$. Carlin was shown on her “work” computer today, so she’s done for the week now.

I would like to know about Evan’s brother. IIRC the brother (don’t know his name) is in the same electrician program Leisure Boy completed. It’ll be interesting to see how alike (or not) they are.

As far as we know the brother is still in electrical training - sometimes he puts up pics on IG in his gear on a construction site, he’s put up a pic before of a sandwich for lunch thanking his wife for making his lunch. He generally doesn’t post much on IG - like maybe 1-2 long weekend type vacations per yr and does not appear to hang out at mommy and daddy’s house 2 wks per month - so presumably he’s at work/school? And married nearly 2 yrs with no baby or baby announcement yet. 

Meanwhile Evan is such a douche bag. Katie posted how they were basically at home eating snacks, and pans over to Evan 2x with him showing the horns hand gestures screaming “let’s goooo.” Uh dude you’re stuffing your face with snacks mid afternoon, there’s no “let’s gooo” here - you’re not playing beer pong at a college party nor storming the field at a college game. Meanwhile his idiot wife can be heard saying “it’s a party.” They think they’re soooo cool - one Friday night at big state u and they’d be traumatized to see ppl hooking up, students with tattoos, students black out drunk, gay students with same sex partners. So chill out - you don’t know what partying actually is and stuffing yourself full of cheez its ain’t it.

And I guess they’re reading here and a bit offended that we think they don’t work and have dumped it all on Z&W bc Carlin was sure to post a pic sitting at her laptop working and then later a FaceTime w W bc omg work calls w W are THE BEST. Sure Jan I’m sure you put in an 8 hr day?!

Did Kelly leave? No where in sight today as they were snacking - couldn’t even see her in the background lying around with her phone.

As much as Ma & Pa Stewart hate the camera, I'm not sure they're disappointed in Evan. Having a trade job is hard work, so for all we know the dad might be happy his son is not having to work 40+ hours a week to make ends meet.

I don't get why they're bored, surely there's Target, CVS and nail salons around there. 😁
