I liked the live-action Beauty and the Beast, too.

In the other thread, they’re being called flappy balloon people.

It looks to me like he sees it coming straight for his head and he dodges out of the way.

Faux Life: Things That Happen On TV But Not In Reality
Browncoat replied to Kromm's topic in Everything Else TV
Neither does black coffee (or any coffee) or a cold shower or dunking the drunk's head repeatedly in a bucket of water. Except on TV and in the movies.- 8.4k replies

@Driad I went to go like it, but I already had! I inadvertently unliked it, but liked it again immediately. You still need one to be pink.

Why Grammar Matters: A Place To Discuss Matters Of Grammar
Browncoat replied to candall's topic in Everything Else
OMG! ?? Haven’t seen that one, but not surprised! I used to see it a lot on TWOP. I don't think I've seen it around here, though. My local news apparently thinks we have a state delagate. I'm not sure what that is. (I know what they mean, though.) -
Commercials That Annoy, Irritate or Outright Enrage

Also, Wal-Mart, "Ring My Bell" does not mean what you think it means. -
Fort Sumter? Really? I mean, I know essentially nothing about history of any variety, but even I knew better than to pick a Civil War battle when the date given was 1854! And while I thought it was probably something from the Revolutionary War, I really had no idea what it might be. I was glad when they gave Rick back his money for slant, because that certainly should have been acceptable, and I was glad Rick managed another win. Jerry annoyed me with the starting in the middle, especially after all the DDs had been found. And of course Alex made his story all about Alex. I thought the woman made a smart wager for FJ. That's what I would do if the leaders were close and I were that far behind. The only TS I got was strata.

I liked early seasons Radar better than later seasons Radar.

I'm sorry, @smittykins!

I heard him say Owe-GOOST-n, and thought Alex just corrected his pronunciation to AU-gus-TEEN.

FJ took me a few seconds tonight because I am exhausted. It's been a terribly long day on top of a terribly long week! I think if I were more alert, it would have been an instaget. And I didn't write down any TS, and have no idea if I even got any! But, I agree with @SoMuchTV about Ian's story -- he was just a little too proud of himself for that. Maybe next time, ask a flight attendant? I was concerned he was going to rock himself off the box he might have been standing on, too. Despite the rocking, I would have been fine with any of them winning tonight. And maybe I wasn't paying as close attention as usual, but it seemed like a pretty good game.

John Cleese is brilliant. I don't think I've seen him in anything I didn't like.

But I don’t wanna be fair to Ron! LOL

Hooray for Eddie Haskell! Er, I mean Burt! Although I must say I was rooting for anyone but Ron. No surprise with Dave's DD bet -- he always bet big on those, and of course, since he was behind, he had to wager for FJ. For FJ, I knew China, and pulled N. Korea out of my hat at the last second. I think I would have had time to write it down. I also got Eats Shoots and Leaves, walnuts (I despise black walnuts, and the squirrels keep bringing them to my yard and planting trees!), Arles, tightrope walker, Managua, The Way, and bears. I also got the Communion one, I think -- I said doing both at the same time, which might have been accepted? Yo, Ron, I'm pretty sure baby rhinos aren't called pups. They don't look anything like pups.

RE: not betting anything in FJ -- I'm the opposite. I figure I came with nothing, so anything I go home with is more than nothing. Might as well give it a go, especially if I know I won't lose. I would be less cavalier about it all if I didn't have a runaway, but unless the category was something I really had no clue about, I like to believe I'd bet something.

I learned something tonight -- I had no idea that Mike Nesmith's mother invented liquid paper! Dave was extra annoying tonight. The goodwill from his having unseated Ryan has worn off, and I'm ready to Dave to lose. But if he could start at the tops of categories, and at least bet something for FJ, I could change my mind again. Doubtful either of those will happen, but you never know. FJ was another instaget for me -- I was surprised the one girl had nothing. I also got bullmastiff, and agree that should have had a BMS, gear ratio, Virginia (c'mon, James River? Gotta be Virginia!), and Colombia.

Pretty sure that was Westboro. They're pros at tacky demonstrations like that. I just got back, and I enjoyed it. It did bother me how Clemmons' sexuality was handled, but I'm glad Fred came around in the end. It's quite possible that Rogers didn't really know how to address it appropriately with children, and of course, the prevailing attitude was not as friendly. But the scenes between them in the wading pool, washing and drying each other's feet, were quietly extraordinarily powerful. I never watched as a child, although I was the right demographic. No idea why not -- I remember watching Romper Room, and Captain Kangaroo, but not Mr. Rogers or even Sesame Street.

I half appreciated Neel's speed in picking categories, and half hated it, because most of the time I could barely understand what he was saying, he spoke so fast. And both guys lost me with the skipping of the lowest valued clue in each category. I get going for higher valued clues (I don't like it, but I get it), but what is the point of just going one clue down? Why not just start at the top? Anyway, FJ was an instaget, of course, and I also got Ron Howard, loggerhead turtle, and clamming. I should have gotten protists for the algae one, but I keep forgetting they've added more Kingdoms since I learned them lo, these many years ago.

Happy 78th Birthday, Alex!

Don’t get me wrong, @Shannon L., I like Cher, there just didn’t seem to be much point to her role. Was she going to help with finances? Was she going to be more of a hands-on great-gandma? And speaking of finances, what happened to the woman Sophie was named after? The one Donna took care of and who left all her money to Donna? Are we meant to believe that the woman who ran the taverna and owned the farm was that woman?
-
Just got back, and meh. Not nearly as much fun as the original. I did like the casting of the original Donna and the Dynamos, though I have a hard time believing all of those three women kept the same hairstyles since 1979. Especially the Christine Baranski character -- she seems very fashion-forward. The casting of the boys was okay, but they were absolutely NOTHING like Donna remembered in her flashback from the original. It seems a bit like they retconned the "..." part, too, at least with the timing. But it also seemed like they left out a scene with Harry on the island. Or I napped, perhaps. And somehow, I expected more of a pre-Greece Donna and the Dynamos career. Apparently that mostly took place during their University years. I don't know -- it just seems like if you have the bones of a backstory in place, you'd stick with that and not change it. Cher was unnecessary. And there was no sign of that hot guy Colin Firth was with at the end of the first one, either. In fact, he was all alone at the end of this one, which just didn't seem fair, since everyone else had someone. Well, I guess except Pierce Brosnan, because at the beginning of the now part, Donna's been dead for a year. I take it back -- Cher was necessary to get in the song "Fernando". It wasn't all bad. There were some fun bits. The post-credit scene was good. Pierce Brosnan sort of sings, but it was okay. Some of the Young Donna parts were quite good (mostly when she was with the young Dynamos). Some of the "now" parts were good -- when Harry and Bill arrive to the island to the tune of "Dancing Queen" was quite good. I'm not sad I saw it, and I don't want my two hours back, but I'm not sure I'll watch again when it eventually comes to TV.
