  1. Makes sense. It's not in the book, either, and it just seems so out of character.
  2. I've been watching these all weekend, and was reminded of something that really bugged me in the last one. Just before the Dursleys have to leave Little Whinging, Petunia says she knows what "they're capable of." That Harry didn't just lose a mother that day, she lost a sister as well. It just seems so hypocritical for her to suddenly care that she lost a sister -- she let Aunt Marjorie go on and on about what a bad mother Harry must have had, after all, and is so embarrassed by her freak sister. Also, every time I see/read The Deathly Hallows, I always wonder if the Dursleys ever returned to #4 Privet Drive and if Hermione could or did un-obliviate her parents. I suspect they would have been thrilled to have grandchildren. I also believe Harry should have remained single (or possibly gotten together with Luna), and should have become the teacher of Defense of the Dark Arts at Hogwarts before eventually becoming Headmaster. Ginny should have ended up with Neville.
  3. I laughed out loud with unrestrained glee when Brooke and Robbie were eliminated. Hey, assholes, even if the scientists hadn't been part of the final four, you still would have been in last because you got yourselves lost. So suck it! I am thrilled that the Scientists won. Beyond thrilled. They might not be the most athletic pair, but they worked their asses off, and deserved this first place finish.
  4. I have never been so glad for an extended leg!
  5. Dear Brooke and Robbie, You'd probably find your clue a lot faster if you'd actually, y'know, plow, instead of standing around, complaining and watching the other teams plow and find their clues. I will be so disappointed if they win! Any of the other teams would be great. The Dentists have grown on me as well -- for the same reasons as the rest of you -- they keep their composure so well in the face of adversity. I'd love it if the Scientists won, though.
  6. I was surprised it was a TS, too. I would be hard-pressed to name one of their songs, but I guessed Spice Girls immediately.
  7. I saw this yesterday, and I thought they did a great job with the adaptation. Like most of you, I really enjoyed the added bits that were only alluded to in the book, and I especially liked the use of The Hanging Tree in some of those added bits. My one, very minor issue was that 13 didn't look nearly as bleak as I'd imagined it. And the bomb shelter was nothing like I'd pictured it. But I am glad they kept Crazy Cat in.
  8. Fleur=flower and lis=lily, so fleur de lis is a plant. A stylized version of a plant, but still a plant.
  9. Misti really resembled Lisa Kudrow in this episode. Loved the cyclist's imitation of Jim! And I haven't been so happy for a non-elimination leg in a long time! Who knew the memory task would be easier?
  10. For the "Day of the _________" in Creature Features, I immediately thought of Day of the Dolphin, which was also 1973. I wonder if it would have been accepted.
  11. What did Raj say after Sheldon left him in the steam tunnels with the rats (right after Amy had the "11 minutes" line)? Was it just random screaming, or were there words?
  12. I am so jealous that they had such gorgeous weather in the Shetlands! The last time I was in Scotland, it was a bit dreich, and we missed the sun terribly. But yay, sheepsters! I hoped someone would try "baa ram ewe" too -- or at least that they would stop yelling at the sheep. The dentists can get off my TV any time.
  13. I hate Thursday night football! The pre-game show has pre-empted Jeopardy! in my market, and I can't even find it on the schedule.
  14. I can't believe all the triple-stumpers in the cat poetry category.
  15. Congrats, Tigershark! I won't be able to watch the rest of the week, but I set my DVR!
  16. Great game, Andrea, and good on you for knowing Quasimodo!
  17. Congrats, Andrea! I'll have to record tomorrow night's game since I won't be able to watch the battle of the PTVers (tm rubaco) "live"! Oops, crossposted with Tigershark -- I'll still record tomorrow night, though. Unfortunately, I might miss your game altogether, Tigershark, but I'll try to watch!
  18. From Better Off Dead (and there are many quotes from that one, too!); "Now that's a real shame when folks be throwin' away a perfectly good white boy like that."
