  1. I'm not averse to any of these teams winning, even though I despise the blind date gimmick. I was sad to see the hairdressers go, but we've somehow gotten to this point without my hating any of the teams. Not sure how that happened!
  2. I don't suppose they would have accepted "Who was Jimmy Carter's Vice President?" would they? I completely blanked on Mondale's name.
  3. Maybe the ring is a "chocolate" diamond -- common, and commonly used for industrial purposes.
  4. I actually laughed out loud several times this ep, which is rare these days. The first was for the lions and the Ark answer, then when Howard's shoe (and sock!) stuck to the floor -- that was a brilliant bit of physical comedy! And finally Hard Knock Life had me in stitches.
  5. I wasn't terribly impressed with the Sean Connery imitation. But Havana was the first city that came to mind for FJ, then I second-guessed myself trying to decide if the Caribbean islands count as part of the Americas, or if they're in their own special category.
  6. I was prepared to hate the Puss in Boots clues, and they were slow, but then they threw in the Princess Bride reference and my hate melted away.
  7. At least they didn't show a photo of Indiana Jones! Still, easiest DD ever.
  8. Dear Hayley, If the cameraperson can get both of you in the same shot, Blair is not riding off and leaving you. Though perhaps he should. This is not a romantic ride through Amsterdam where you have to ride side-by-side, it's a damn race. Pick up the pace.
  9. I admit it. I laughed when Howard called tech support and Raj's phone rang.
  10. Easiest FJ ever. But given the category, I probably wouldn't have wagered very much, either.
  11. I've barely heard of most of them, and I really don't like Mo Rocca, but Penn Jillette should be interesting. So far, my all-time favorite Celebrity Jeopardy contestant is Cheech Marin. Possibly because he surprised me with how well he did -- I don't thihk I expected him to have many brain cells left.
  12. I for one am glad Alex-the-contestant is gone. I never warmed to his starting in the middle of the category (and never will, regardless of the contestant), nor to what I perceived as stalling the game. He didn't have to -- he showed plenty of times that he could keep the pace up, but it appeared that he chose not to most of the time. I get that things like that are strategies for winning, and I get that they often work, but that doesn't mean I have to like them or enjoy watching people who use them.
  13. I wasn't suprised -- he was stalling the game as he has done the whole time he's been on.
  14. I totally blanked on FJ, but I've been humming "Drop Kick Me Jesus" all day.
  15. I hoped this would be a non-elim, since the tasks seemed so unbalanced -- mixing perfume perfectly versus ziplining? -- with no choice or option to switch. But I guess they were more even than they appeared, or the self-navigation/driving distance were equalizers. Nice suspenseful finish, too. ETA: Phil should always wear a tux.
  16. I don't think I've rooted so hard against a contestant since Arthur Chu. Alex-the-contestant made the show impossible for me to watch. I was surprised that only one of them got FJ, though.
  17. The Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel connects Virginia with Virginia -- it's still a bit of a drive before you get to Maryland that way.
  18. Maybe I'm being pedantic (but if you can't be pedantic regarding Jeopardy!, when can you be?), but I kept waiting for a correction to Eric's response of "University of West Virginia." There is no such place -- it is West Virginia University. I wouldn't have minded if Eric had won, but Brian's incessant starting at the middle of the category drove me nuts as usual. Also his attempts to eat up time, stretching out the name of the category and slowing down the game. I'm glad Kerry beat him in the end.
  19. I'm sorry I had to miss last night's game! Sounds like it was a (hilarious) disaster. ::off to j-archive::
  20. My thought process for FJ last night went like this: "Amy Tan! No, wait, Pearl Buck! No, no, Amy Tan!" Oh well. And on behalf of myself and all the other women who frequently travel alone, screw you, Alex.
  21. I didn't get to see last night's episode, but I did record it. Now I'm almost afraid to watch!
  22. In southwest Virginia, we get Wheel at 7 followed by J! at 7:30. Except during the NCAA basketball tourney, when we get them at 10 and 10:30 am. And Bull Run for Custer's Last Stand? I was speechless.
  23. I saw this this afternoon and enjoyed it. I agree that it pales in comparison to the first one, but Maggie and Judy are their usual wonderful selves.
  24. Well, that was annoying. The new King, that is, not the challenges. The challenges were great! I really liked both the quiz bowl and the puzzles/games -- that last one looked hard. With the crossword puzzle, though, I kept yelling at the TV that Imhotep was the Mummy! How could they not know that? I was also glad to see the end title wishing Bobby a speedy recovery.
  25. I heard that on the radio this morning as I was driving to work. :( Best wishes to him and his family!
