  1. For once, I actually sort of laughed at Alex's quip. It's the sort of punny thing I might say. Rook's voice was nice, but I'm glad he didn't win -- drove me nuts (as usual) with the starting in the middle of the categories. I was surprised FJ was a triple stumper. The correct answer was the first thing that popped into my head. Overall, though, a good game to start the season.
  2. I would listen to Zachary Quinto read the phone book.
  3. I saw a preview for this before a movie, and all I can say is that they should have picked a better location to stand in for North Dakota. There aren't snow-capped mountains like that in ND. If you're going to go to all the trouble of filming on location, at least try to get it somewhat right.
  4. What comes after Celebrity Week? I just can't with these people again -- I barely could the first time.
  5. I also hate everyone who jumps around the board.
  6. I once had a car that was a Chevrolet Spectrum. I named it Roy because Roy G Biv.
  7. I thought maybe Mags' leaving off of "Who is" was an editing glitch, too, since they are still dubbing Alex's voice. I was shouting Jupiter! at the TV, and couldn't believe Andy missed Dr. Moreau.
  8. The clue listed the colors as Sedona something and Sonoran something else (red and brown? No idea). Sedona = Arizona, Sonoran Desert = Arizona, and then I thought about what might live in Arizona. From that, I got to snakes and then rattlesnakes, but I didn't think I'd heard of a team called the Rattlesnakes, so I got to Diamondbacks, a subset of rattlesnake. Remarkably, I did that in my head in under 30 seconds, but likely never would have been able to do that on the show, and certainly wouldn't have had time to write it out. Probably would have gotten "diamondba" and been ruled incorrect.
  9. Was I the only one shouting, "Calaveras! Calaveras!"? But amazingly, Alex was right -- I know very little about Major League Baseball, and I managed to get to Arizona from the colors and took a stab at the team name, and somehow got it right.
  10. Is it wrong that I wanted the woman in the middle to win with just $14? And FJ today was an insta-get for me. I love both the book and the mini-series of The Thorn Birds (mmmm, Richard Chamberlain...).
  11. A little piece of my soul died when no one got Buttermilk.
  12. So, you're going to stop in Belgium to break up a flight between the US and... Belgium? Ooookay, then. I read the clue as asking for the country, not the airline.
  13. I mostly only listened his first day because that's the day The Dancing Queen lost, and I couldn't abide watching her.
  14. Well, at least they dinged Scott for mispronouncing Sharapova. And it's a good thing no one is on his right -- he'd knock them out, the way he flails his arm with the buzzer.
  15. Me, too, otto -- I thought it was pronounced "Bree-anne", but I guess she can pronounce her name however she wants. I was rooting for Kris, if only because he didn't start in the middle of the categories. And for FJ, I said, "Who are the Dutch! No, wait, Dutch is not a country -- what country is that?" and came up with the Netherlands in the nick of time.
  16. At last, the nightmare is over! I have to say, though, all I could come up with for FJ was "that guy who wrote The Wasteland".
  17. The one-on-one with LeBron and Bill Hader was hilarious! Overall, I liked it, though as shipmate said, it was a bit slow at times and could have used a slightly heavier editing hand here and there.
  18. Oh, god, goddy god god will she never lose? I know it's only been two days, but it seems like she's been there forever. (I said Lizzie Borden, too. And soliloquy.)
  19. I laughed out loud at the guards and the rendition of "Hair".
  20. Between the mugging for the camera and the starting in the middle of the category and the being all fake-cutesy, Jennifer drove me nuts. I really hope she's a one-and-done, but with my luck, she'll have a long run. Boo, hiss.
  21. Gru was at VillainCon, too, testing out the freeze ray.
  22. revbfc, at the very end, I hope that works -- it's the first time I've posted a spoiler at previously!
  23. I loved it, too! It was just fun and silly, and the music was great! I hope y'all stayed until the very end of the credits.... Kevin, Stuart and Bob were an awful lot like Margo, Edith and Agnes..... In a good way!
  24. Milton for FJ tonight? Unbelievable. I have to say, too, that I'm glad that guy lost, and I'm glad he tanked on the DD he found in the DJ round -- it's kind of hard to know how to bet when you don't know anything about the category, dumbass. But the former champ, not even guessing Rosetta for her DD? Also incredible. Even if you don't know that was the place name, you should at least know of the Rosetta stone and make a guess. Also, maybe it's because I'm from Virginia and live there now, but I couldn't believe the Virginia motto was a TS.
  25. Those "Scottish" accents made me stabby. And I just can't quite warm to anyone who starts at the bottom (or middle) of a category.
