Aldous Huxley never occurred to me -- I was trying my best to make an Orwell novel fit, but couldn't. Boo, hiss. Hooray for Dave! Normally I don't much care for runaways, but I cheered every time he rang in with the correct response. It seemed like both Emily and Ryan kind of checked out about halfway through DJ. I got no TS, and made the same mistake Dave did for gold glove, even though I knew golden glove was boxing.

Say What?: Commercials That Made Us Scratch Our Heads
Browncoat replied to Lola16's topic in Commercials
I thought that's what she said, too. -
I feel like I should watch Poldark. Possibly even with the sound off. LOL

Faux Life: Things That Happen On TV But Not In Reality
Browncoat replied to Kromm's topic in Everything Else TV
But not in the western part of Virginia! There aren't any near me that I know of, but when I travel east, I usually stop in one if there's one that's, well, convenient. I like them a lot. -
Commercials That Annoy, Irritate or Outright Enrage
Browncoat replied to Maverick's topic in Commercials
Unfortunately, no one ever claimed any of the Sonic spokespeople made sense. Or had sense. -
Maybe, but Star Wars never occurred to me, based on how the clue was worded. I guess we'll never know for sure.

Okay, I was born way before the 1973 line, and I still love the Ewoks!

Dammit, middle guy! You had a chance to rid us of Ryan, but you blew it and lost your lead. I just noticed tonight that Ryan says "hunnerd" -- just another reason to want him gone. But Michelle's upspeak, sometimes heading for registers only dogs can hear, made me want to stick forks in my ears. Agreed that Alex should have given someone else a shot at You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'. FJ wasn't quite an instaget -- I had to hum the musical phrase before the title would come to me. I wonder, too, though what the other one Alex spoke of was. For TS, I got bomb cyclone, Mt. Whitney, and Poldark. And I've never seen Poldark.

I've only heard of Sparknotes because I work at a college with undergrads and recent graduates. None of them knows what Cliffsnotes are!
-
OMG, I'd forgotten that -- or possibly blanked it out of my memory. IMO, if it doesn't have dairy, it is not technically cheese! Also, is she a vegan, or just her "cheese"? Either way, it sounds kind of gross. Sorry about her issues with dairy, but that's what they make Lactaid for.

If Kyle hadn't been stoned, he might have won. I mean, I don't know he was stoned, but he kind of gave that appearance. This was another one of those games, though, that I really wasn't rooting for anyone. I hated all of their intros, and WTF with the way Caitlion wrote her name? I couldn't quite tell what she dotted her i's with -- was it just giant dots or what? Anyway, I completely blanked on FJ, though I feel like I should have known it. I did get sarin, die late/dilate, charger, CliffsNotes (probably before her time -- all the cool kids use Sparknotes these days), Rocco Dispirito, and John Landis. For the inversion one, I said temperature inversion, but I'd like to think they would have given it to me.

I saw this last night, and really enjoyed it! It was a lot of fun. I didn't see the first one (I have seen a smattering of the MCU movies), so I had no idea what I was getting into. I always appreciate that movies like this one are made accessible for those of us who don't read the comics or who haven't kept up to date with the 49,500 superhero movies out these days. That said, I am very glad I'd seen Infinity War. I knew immediately what had happened when Scott could no longer hear the countdown to his return in the mid-credits scene. They kind of tried to misdirect us with the faulty mike at the beginning of that scene, but I just knew they'd all been dusted. Loved the giant building as wheeled luggage! The part that had me in stitches, though, was when Scott kept trying to get an ant to take him to the ferry, but the sea gulls kept eating his ants. For some reason, that just tickled my funny bone, and I just could not stop laughing. And in other news, Michael Douglas is still hot.

Commercials That Annoy, Irritate or Outright Enrage

I see what you did there -- half sister! Bwahahahahahah! -
My bad -- I assumed "bakery" meant a place that baked goodies on site, fresh.

Commercials That Annoy, Irritate or Outright Enrage

I won't go so far as to say I like that commercial, but it's definitely the least offensive of the Flo/Jamie ones, and for just the reason you stated. -
Five months early? Wouldn't they go bad?

Maybe because Ryan thought "name brand" was alliterative? Though that made me roll my eyes, not laugh. I'd rather have Michelle than Ryan, but alas, her inexplicable wagering did her in. FJ was one of those for me that came so quickly that I thought I must be wrong. I was surprised to find that I was correct! I didn't write down any TS, though.

Great @Scott! Great link! Glad to know that Vincent isn’t quite as clueless as we thought. However, I was completely clueless for FJ today, and I guess Michelle’s creative wagering paid off. I was shouting “Nutcracker”! at my TV for that last DD. Too bad he couldn’t hear me. I also got boot camp, infantryman, machine gun, and WPA. I miss the BMS, especially tonight, with all the surnames as responses. Marley in particular needed one.

Of course! LOL

Commercials That Annoy, Irritate or Outright Enrage
Browncoat replied to Maverick's topic in Commercials
It's the extremely stupid women, and "flispy" is a combination of "flavorful" (I think), and "crispy". The worst part is that Sonic has now incorporated that "word" into an ad that doesn't have any of the people. -
It apparently has been way too long since I've seen the theatrical versions! Thanks for the info, @VCRTracking. At least they did include the part with the floo powder -- when ABC showed that one, they went from Molly Weasley saying that they needed to go to Diagon Alley directly there (with a commercial break between) -- all of them dirty and sooty with no explanation. And since they don't seem to be any shorter on USA, I guess they removed the extras to make room for commercials.

Commercials That Annoy, Irritate or Outright Enrage
Browncoat replied to Maverick's topic in Commercials
Dear Sonic, Stop trying to make "flispy" happen. Thanks! -
Yes, but the clue was about the University of Arizona, which is in Tucson.
-
Apparently USA and Syfy now have the rights for Harry Potter -- both stations are having a Harry Potter weekend this weekend. And USA has cut the bit with the Malfoys in Borgin and Burke's after Harry misuses the floo powder in Chamber of Secrets. Clever editing, though -- if I didn't know there was a bit missing, I'd never know. Or was that an extra scene as well?

Funny, I disliked Michelle more today, but that was mostly because of her intro. And I had to laugh when Vincent got bleeped. Nice wager by him for that DD that put him in the lead, too bad he screwed up FJ so royally. But again, WTF with Michelle's wager? FJ was an instaget for me -- I may or may not resemble that term. :) And in other WTFery, how do you not guess Tucson after Phoenix has been ruled out as a city in Arizona? Even if you aren't sure? I got that one, of course, along with pagoda, International Space Station, and crew/Krewe.
