Commercials That Annoy, Irritate or Outright Enrage
Browncoat replied to Maverick's topic in Commercials
Life generally results in death, so there's that. (Also, sorry to be a Debbie Downer!) -
Agreed. He couldn't possibly be before their time! I got that and Tokyo, but said Libra for FJ, thinking perhaps the knot indicated the top of the scales. I wonder if they would have accepted Adele Dazeem instead of Idina Menzel?

They thought they were. They were wrong.

Maybe if Catherine had run out and gotten another new pendant, she would have won again. Congrats to the new champ and her hand-knitted shawl! And her non-vocal fry voice! FJ was an instaget for me, and I also got the TS/missed DD of embryology, Salt Lake City, Goldberg Variations, and Sebastian Cabot. The guy seemed really confident in his knowledge of Bach -- I can't help but believe he misread or misunderstood the clue for that DD. And I always think of MASH and Radar saying, "Ah, Bach" whenever Bach is mentioned. Also, I can't think of Salt Lake City without thinking of The Book Of Mormon.

I just figure that if the two lead contestants are fairly close in scores, and the third is fairly far behind, the third should bet zero, assuming the top two will bet to protect against each other. The third contestant actually can have a decent shot at winning with a zero bet in that case. But that's the only FJ betting strategy I have.

The only way, imo, for her to "make restitution" is not to benefit in any way (financially or otherwise) from the reboot of the reboot. So if she was serious in her tweet about restitution, this would be the way to do it.

I like Catherine's knowledge, and I like her calm, cool demeanor, and I even like her lovely brand-new pendant she bought with yesterday's winnings, but her vocal fry is killing me and makes my throat hurt. I don't know how she can still speak at all. I admit, I was rooting for middle girl who had neither upspeak nor vocal fry. FJ was such an instaget that I seriously questioned whether or not it could possibly be right. In the end, I couldn't think of another kid book in which a farm and barn figured prominently, and so went with Charlotte's Web. For TS, I only got heirs and "Now is the winter of our discontent".

And we must play Genre music.

We can save that for the encore.

The Think Music, of course!

Bruce's autobiography was a slog. He could have used a better editor. Or, y'know, and editor at all. I do love most of his music, though, and was fortunate enough to see him and the original E Street Band several years ago, a couple of years before Clarence died. It was a great show!

Faux Life: Things That Happen On TV But Not In Reality

That bit is one of the funniest scenes in that movie -- which I unabashedly love. The twirl Gerald does really sells the scene. -
I am a fabulous audience member! I am equally fabulous at helping with sound checks! Can I join, too?

Thank god David lost. He was being extra crispy annoying tonight, what with the clicking and fist-pumping and all. Unfortunately, the new champ has a bad case of vocal fry. I was rooting for middle girl. FJ was an instaget. I also got Bonnie Blue, painter, and iron. There may have been others, but David, who thinks Yosemite is in Wyoming, annoyed me so much that I didn't give the game my full attention.

Faux Life: Things That Happen On TV But Not In Reality

Not true. I work with a guy who is a Very Close Talker. The only way I can keep him out of my face is if I'm sitting down, and even then he's right by my knees, as close as possible. Not whispering, not interested physically, just a Close Talker. -
In Memoriam: Entertainment Industry Celebrity Deaths
Browncoat replied to Kromm's topic in Everything Else TV
Please do! Often, and with me, depression kept me from asking for help for the most part, and my facade was good enough that no one realized how bad it was, or they dismissed it (and worst of all, told me to smile. Don't ever do that.) Mostly I just wanted someone to notice that something was wrong and ask me about it, and no one did. Suicide hotlines are great, and I'm sure they help a lot of folks, but, at least in my case, I truly believed no one would care enough to listen or help. Not friends, and certainly not strangers. -
I wonder how much longer Tony and Katrina are going to be in the cast -- I'd like to see it, too! I guess I need to take a week in NY and see several of these.
-
Hey, we're only a little bit over time....
-
My opinion is just based on her performance here tonight, but imo, she totally deserved that Tony.
-
Tony gets the Tony! Yay!
-
Pretty much all of it, so thanks to y'all who got it and shared!
