Favorite Episodes: Kerosene Cucumbers, Anyone?
Browncoat replied to SunShine Gal's topic in The Andy Griffith Show [V]
I'm watching the "Citizen's Arrest" one now (sorry -- I don't know the actual episode title), and it always makes me laugh so hard -- "Barney's in jail! Barney's in jail!" But it starts out with Andy finding some document indicating that he'd hired Barney 10 years prior. There's another episode, maybe the next season, in which they have a 5-year party for Barney (the one where he also has to pass a physical and be a certain height and weight). So, how long was Barney on the force? Yeah, continuity was not a strong suit for this show, but I love it anyway. -
I had no idea! Too bad I've already deleted this ep, or I'd watch that scene again. He was hilarious on 3rd Rock. Well, to be fair, they all were.

Commercials That Annoy, Irritate or Outright Enrage

The Prancercize lady kind of scares me a little. -
They should also get a second and possibly third appraisal for the doll. Although I didn’t see them pick up the doll before they left the store, and I also didn’t see them collect the hundred bucks the guy offered them.

I am, but I think you, @Mondrianyone and I are the only ones!

I said Winged Liberty, too!

Probably still Four Aces. So, invoices go from Four Aces to FEMA, check goes from FEMA to Four Aces and then to Dan and Chuck's pockets. Loved the interaction between Becky and Darlene, and then Darlene's follow-up attempt to get better tips by "flirting" at the casino. Sarah's delivery and timing in the casino scene was gold.

I don't remember that much gesturing either, but at least he settled down for the second round. It did nothing to endear him to me -- no winks or nudges! Party of one! I had no idea for FJ -- said Thor and Loki. Bert and Ernie were probably a better guess. :) There were actually three good-for-you's -- one came at the end when Tara revealed her wager. Time to buy more wine! I was sad that they didn't clear either board, but I appreciated the category titles in the first round. TS I got included The butler did it, Robert De Niro, 25, John Brown, sapsucker, and WWII.

Not possible to ignore that! -
It's way cool.

I finally got to see this last night, and I really enjoyed it a lot. I'll have to look for the book! It did put me in mind of Never Been Kissed at the end, with Simon on the Ferris Wheel -- I just kept thinking of Drew Barrymore on the pitcher's mound, waiting for Mr. Coulson. That scene stuck with me, too, and I really felt for Simon. Martin was an asshole in oh so many ways, but outing Simon was the worst.

Though perhaps not for much longer.

Until tonight, I never really thought about the origin of the name Rene(e), but it makes perfect sense. I never saw Borat, either -- can't stand Sasha Baron Cohen (who was wildly miscast in Sweeney Todd, too, BTW). And yes, Alex, you are indeed a fossil, even if you might not have one named after you. I missed FJ, but I did get Salvador Dali, and The Sower. ETA: I did say Sears Tower -- because I can never remember what it's called now, even though it has been since 2009! Old habits die hard!

I have, and it truly annoys me. I’ll be over here at my table for one, hoping his claws go away soon. No wink wink, either.

HA! I pre-called plumbum when the category was revealed! LOL The writers really must like that word -- and why not? It's a great word. Okay, Josh can stop with the tiger claw thing already. And the waving. My immediate thought for FJ was Cumberland Gap because that's where three states meet, and I live not terribly far from there, but then I read the rest of the clue, and got Harper's Ferry in plenty of time to write it down. I also got Hell or High Water, gymnastics, Psalms, Jude, oysters, and Dutch Boy paint.

Complete Series DVDs: Which Do You Have?

Firefly, of course! :) -
They might not be underwater, but the house is not paid off. They have mentioned a mortgage. In an economically depressed area, their house might not be worth as much as one would think -- and possibly not a whole lot more than they paid for it. Most houses in my economically depressed area either stay on the market for a very long time, or the owners have to reduce the prices dramatically to get a sale. I can't imagine trying to stage that house! No one could find all the doors to bathrooms and basements and such. But all that is moot, really -- my point was that moving, especially a family, is not necessarily as easy or inexpensive as you imply. Minimal possessions will still fill a truck.

There was one in Raleigh, too. My fellow grad students and I would gather there to do our laundry occasionally.
-
I can certainly do without the Weavers, too! As hard as I've tried to put most of that season out of my head, they persist.

If you're underwater in the house, then you get nothing from the sale. Moving can cost thousands of dollars, even if you rent a U-haul and pack and move it yourself. Plus, packing, you have buddies to help load the truck -- when you get to your destination, it's just you, and maybe you can get your sofa in the house, and maybe you can't. Then, of course, if you want to buy a new place, you have to have the down payment and closing costs (and possibly a short-term place to live and storage for your minimum items until you find a house). If you rent, you have to have first and last month's rent plus a security deposit. Moving is much easier when you're single with no kids, but there's still the question of whether or not you can unload your own truck or have to hire people. And, if you're single, are you going to tow your car behind your U-haul or hire movers and drive your car?

How about the then-younger-than-18 kids from the Family Edition? I don't remember how old the youngest was -- would they be old enough now?

Maybe that one was just a straight-up agricultural fair and not the carnival-type fair shown in other episodes? I don't know -- I'm making it up! -
Now I want to watch it again, keeping all those things in mind!
