The Andy Griffith Show - General Discussion

It is quite likely that no one back then gave nearly as much thought to these things as we do! And they probably never would have thought that anyone would. LOL -

Thanks! I'm really interested to know if there was a backstory, and if so, what it might be. -
I've read it, and even have a real copy of it on my bookshelf! Excellent bio.

I despise Nutella -- unpopular opinion of the day! It's the ruination of good chocolate by icky hazelnuts.

And Barney's middle initial changed all the time -- sometimes it was P, sometimes it was A... I'm not on Twitter -- I wonder if Ron Howard would respond to a tweet? Or if he's on Twitter? -
I think the movie Sarah's Key was where I learned what a velodrome is. Heartbreaking story.

Thanks!

Hey, I actually got an FJ! It's been a couple of days, and this one was an instaget. Seems like I can either get them immediately, or sit here and puzzle for days and still not be able to come up with anything. I was rooting for middle girl -- we Biologists have to stick together, even though she studies insects, which have way too many legs. I wasn't a fan of end girl's cutesy intro, and I've never been a fan of Josh's intros. But he is a force, and otherwise plays well, so I'm okay with him winning again. TS I got were chin, plumber, cross-eyed, and lead. I just noticed we had plumber and lead (plumbum) in the same game. I can't remember -- is the Teacher's Tournament one week or two?

My sister tried and failed to go vegan, and cheese was the reason -- she just couldn't give that up, and she said the vegan "cheese" just didn't work for her. I wonder what Raegan ate instead of lobster and butter? Mmmmm, lobster and butter..... -

And since Opie is so young in the first episode, and has been taken care of by Rose (who's leaving to get married and being replaced by Aunt Bee) for a good while, can we assume Opie's mother died in childbirth? It had to be that or shortly thereafter, I think. -

My sister, who is a vegetarian, still eats the cheddar bay biscuits! She'll get a salad and a baked potato, too, if we go to Red Lobster. -

Maybe he met Opie's mother in France! -
That might be less bad, but I'm not thrilled about it, either.

And here I was, worried that I would miss/have to catch up on episodes if it airs in December/January -- I'm going to be out of the country then -- but I don't have a thing to worry about! No way am I watching an all BB TAR.

Heh, Red Lobster -- the fanciest restaurant in all of Texas! -

Excellent thought process! Wish I'd thought of that... :) Yep, still kicking myself for missing it. It's one of my favorite movies!

I feel like an idiot for not getting FJ tonight! I got fixated on Thanksgiving, and just couldn't place anything in November. I knew it would be a forehead slapper when the correct response was revealed, and it was. My only saving grace is that none of the three contestants got it, either. Duh. Middle girl should have had a BMS for marathon -- which marathon? Boston? New York? The local one here? The Kit Carson Memorial Marathon? It isn't like there's only one marathon. TS I did get (which also make me feel marginally better about whiffing FJ), were pallid; moors; Emerson, Lake and Palmer; and tartar sauce.

I am proud to say that the only questions I missed were about the prequels.

Doesn't Sonic Drive-In have carhops? I've never eaten at one, but for some reason, I thought they had carhops. On skates, even.

And that horrible toy! Couldn't they at least have gotten a better, less creepy toy? Not that that would make it better, but it might be less bad. -

I HAAAAAAATE that Cox cable ad. -
I am glad Josh beat Geoff, and I laughed out loud at Josh’s story, but I did wish he’d pick clues in order and not skip over the second clue in a category. That bugged me. I only got the TS of Wanted Dead or Alive, and that was from the song. I’ve never heard of the show. I was clueless for FJ. Guess I need to see or listen to Hamilton as well. Thank you to everyone upthread who explained which Lewis all the contestants guessed. When their responses were revealed, I said, “Lewis who?”
