Can these people not stand still? And oy with the buzzer flailing, too! Not to mention that the voices of two of them went into registers only dogs can hear during the interview segment. Can y'all tell I wasn't a fan of this game? BTW, middle guy, it is not Daylight SavingS Time, it's Daylight Saving Time -- I was disappointed that he wasn't dinged for that. I went through all the shuttle names I could think of, and chose the correct one for FJ, though I'm not sure how or why. I also got chords, Lucy Hayes, Nancy Reagan, Memorial Day, and one of my favorite books, Island of the Blue Dolphins. Alex said genre! Drink!

Tonight's game was less bad than last night, but only because they kept the pace up and seemed to know more answers than they missed. But at the same time, tonight's game was worse because they ALL STARTED WITH THE HIGHEST VALUE CLUES. As we all know, that is my biggest Jeopardy! pet peeve -- not starting at the bloody tops of the bloody categories. Had to think about FJ for a second, but got it with enough time left to write it down.

Commercials That Annoy, Irritate or Outright Enrage

I don't like the ad, but I kinda dig her orange dress. -
I can't say I'm terribly impressed with this first batch of college players. Sheldon was simply annoying, and oy, all the goofy guesses by everyone! Granted, there were a lot of TS I didn't know in the first round, but still -- don't ring in if you're totally clueless! I did get Plymouth Rock, Hiroshima, alb, and the missed DD of esprit de corps. FJ was an instaget, and I'm a bit surprised that two of them missed it, even if it was before their time. Also -- alliteration! Drink!

I'm totally in.

Assuming you have a full load, that's probably true. I will run out of dishes before I have enough dirty ones to fill even a small dishwasher.

But well-protected against any nasty germs! :) As for washing dishes by hand -- I don't like it. I don't enjoy it. I certainly don't look forward to it. Well, maybe when it's really cold out, and I've been outside -- the hot, sudsy water feels nice on my icy hands. But it's a necessary evil -- like cleaning the bathroom, which I hate most of all the chores.

I could not for the life of me come up with Valentino's name, no matter how hard I tried!

FJ was nearly an instaget for me, though I had no real confidence in my response. I just couldn't think of another reasonable body of water in Central America. I was surprised that Emily Dickinson was a TS! And not answering "Roberta Frost" when the clue specified a female version of a male name was a crucial error. Not that I'm complaining, mind you. A win by AndrewS would have not been a good thing. I don't think I knew any of the others in the poetry category -- poetry is not my favorite thing. I also got Stoics and slow loris. Lindbergh was an extraordinarily bad guess, especially with a photo of Sully! I noticed AndrewS' stance (and agree that it beats buzzer-flailing), but still haven't really paid enough attention to notice Kristin's playing with her hair. If I remember two weeks from now, I'll try to pay attention then. The College tournament beats some of the others, but still, ugh.

And doesn't she still have to go to the washer to load it and add detergent and all? Turning on an empty dryer won't do any good, either. -
That's all I could come up with, too.

S01.E17: Jiu-Jitsu, Bubble Wrap, and Yoo-hoo

In the end tag, the little girl chased Sheldon into his house, so Missy did not help the situation at all. -

I don’t think I’ve ever seen Yoo-Hoo in a can, though — only those little bottles. -

Has Sheldon always ridden the bus, and I've just missed it all this time? -
Which was based on that really popular TV show of the same name, right? I got FJ before Alex even finished reading the clue, it was such an instaget for me. Sad that Jack lost, though Kristin wasn't horrible except for her vocal fry during the interview. Another clue with alliteration! Shall we include that in the drinking game? Despite Kristin's vocal fry (which wasn't nearly as noticeable when she was playing), I thought it was a good game. I only remember one TS that I got, and that was knock, from the King James Bible category.

That is so, so wrong. -
And that's why Trebek should have said BMS. It's the Kit Carson Rule. Goose and gander. And I acknowledged the need for a BMS in my endless paragraph/rant about it.

That didn't bother me -- The University of Kansas is referred to as just Kansas, but Kansas State is Kansas State. Just like in Virginia, UVA is just Virginia, but Virginia Tech is Virginia Tech. Virginia would not be an acceptable answer for Virginia Tech. Or Georgia and Georgia Tech. Or Florida and Florida State. So, just Iowa wasn't acceptable, because they wanted Iowa State. And Kansas was acceptable because they weren't looking for Kansas State. I will agree that a BMS might have been warranted instead of the abrupt, "No", although he did wait half a second for her to continue. It's too bad Lydia wasn't a contestant yesterday! And also too bad the Physicist wasn't on yesterday, too -- he would no doubt have run the Physics category. TS I remember getting were coal and Zambezi. Nile was not a smart guess for that one. I also got FJ. So (heh), is that three days in a row now we've had Scotland-related clues? Not that I'm complaining! And how many clues tonight used the word "alliterative"?

There's just me in my house -- it would take forever to generate enough dirty dishes for me to justify running a dishwasher. Not that I own one, mind you, but if I did. I only wash dishes by hand about two or three times a week as it is.

I ran the "H" on the Map category, too, and can even pronounce Hebrides correctly! LOL

I will freely admit that Rough Riders did not come to me instantly -- I knew Teddy Roosevelt, and the Riders part came immediately, but my brain just did not want to let go of Rough. I did get it in time to write it down, though. The photo was a dead giveaway. Yay, Jack! Ashley with her upspeak during her interview bugged me. But I kind of thought it was amusing that she got Twelve Oaks, since that's Ashley Wilkes' plantation in GWTW. I was surprised they didn't get burning the candle at both ends, and a little surprised they missed CD-ROM, though I wonder if just CD would have gotten a BMS. I also got Pop, porcelain and St. Paul, though that was a guess. Overall I thought it was a good game!

One of my neighbors has some random Heinz 57 dog, who can't remember who I am, either. Last summer, after I calmed the dog enough for him to stop barking, I was giving pieces of sticks I'd picked up from the yard -- just playing, and as long as I stood mostly still in one spot, the dog was fine. When I took a step, though, or went to get some more sticks, it was like the dog couldn't recognize me and would start barking again, and wouldn't come near me. It was hilarious.
