  1. He is, but I had to laugh at the "soupcon of snozzberry" line.
  2. Well, because I know all of you are on the edges of your seats, wondering about it, the game that recorded in the middle of the night last night was, in fact, Thursday's game. So now I'm all caught up. And even though I'd read this thread earlier today, I *still* couldn't get FJ! I did get Silent Night (a guess), Virginia (I live in VA -- I'd better not miss that one!), and Saddam Hussein. I also checked the programming guide, and it has assured me that tonight's game will be broadcast at some ungodly hour late tonight (or early tomorrow, depending on your point of view). Hopefully, it is not lying to me, and I can watch tonight's game tomorrow. March Madness = driving me mad.
  3. It's extra weird -- the champ's name was Peter, and he was a two-day champ at the end! I have no idea what game I saw.
  4. I am confused! Apparently I saw a different game than y’all did. The FJ I saw had to do with airports. My DVR said it was new! I wonder what game it recorded in the middle of the night last night....
  5. Woo hoo! I found when my local station showed Jeopardy! Thank you DVR "record new episodes" feature! I found it for tomorrow night, too, but padded it just in case basketball runs long. But that never happens, right? [/sarcasm] Anyhoo, FJ was an instaget for me tonight, possibly because I was addicted to the Summer Olympics two years ago (I get addicted to the Winter Olympics, too). And it was a good game, although middle girl struggled, and wasn't happy about it. Not too many TS that I remember, but I managed promenade, Gibson, Caesar Augustus, and Dada. I will freely admit that Dada was a complete and utter guess -- I don't even really know how I pulled it out of my, um, hat. Art categories are either super easy or super hard for me. There's no middle ground. I did love the Science category, though.
  6. I had to guess for FJ -- I wasn't sure if a state had to have at least two representatives, but I ended up going with the lowest possible number, which of course is three. Government would not be one of my dream categories! I have ridden the ride Zach was talking about, and I loved it so much that I rode it multiple times -- we'd get off and just circle back around to get back in line. It was so bad that the ride operators asked our names and greeted us each time we got back to the front of the line. Too bad Alex couldn't have inserted a comment about Stephen Hawking, but it was terribly coincidental to have a clue about him on the day he died. I don't remember too many TS, but I did get Maundy Thursday and Streetfighter, though Streetfighter was a guess -- it was the only video game I could think of that had the word "street" in it.
  7. Maybe they're trying to be equal opportunity annoying.
  8. Thanks for the tip, @Mondrianyone!
  9. I was out last night and recorded the game. I almost didn't watch, but am glad I did just to see little Mike TeeVee all grown up! I recognized his name immediately, but Willy Wonka (the original, real, and only Willy Wonka) is one of my favorite movies ever. However, it didn't hurt my feelings that he lost, since he couldn't be bothered to start at the tops of categories, and had a couple of goofy guesses. I was completely clueless for FJ, but got the TS of Cuba, Blade Runner 2049, and Groundhog Day. Yay, Radar, winning again! :) Unfortunately, I'll probably miss tomorrow night, and maybe Friday. Stupid basketball.
  10. I wouldn't be offended if they brought back remote-controlled Stephen Hawking. Yes, I am that person who thought that was hilarious. RIP, Dr. Hawking.
  11. Jude Law as Dumbledore? Yes, please!
  12. Anyone else think Zach looks like Gary Burghoff, aka Radar from MASH? Just me? Maybe I've been watching too many MASH reruns.... I waffled between Social Security and Medicare, and finally chose Medicare for FJ. Not quite an instaget, but close. Good game tonight, I though. Zach sways a bit, but it's tolerable, they all started at the tops of categories, and I don't think there were too many TS or goofy guesses. TS I got include Dyson, Laurie Metcalf, shoes, and Australia. Oh, wait, the guess of pants for espadrilles was kind of goofy. I was very sad that Laurie Metcalf was a TS, too -- they even had a picture! Maybe if they'd mentioned she plays Sheldon's mother on Big Bang Theory?
  13. She definitely was one of the high points, until she started awkwardly running through the field in that dress. It was a nice dress for standing around, not so much for running.
  14. Definitely one of the worst lines ever written, unfortunately in one of my favorite movies, and spoken by the weak link in the cast. But yeah, I doubt anyone could have made that line sound reasonable.
  15. No need to be harsh -- that's what they used to tell us back in the dark ages.
  16. But she was never eliminated, and Joe was.
  17. I was underwhelmed. It is possible that I am too familiar with the book (and adore it!) to have really enjoyed the movie, but I just couldn't. Main things I really didn't like: 1. Calvin should have RED HAIR! Much is made in the book of his red hair. It was terribly disappointing that he had ordinary brown hair. Also, his backstory in the book was completely different than in the movie, and I think more effective. 2. Charles Wallace is 5 and does not go to school. Wandering around while Meg and the twins are at school is how he met Mrs. Whatsit in the first place. 3. Where are the twins? The Murrys have four children, none of whom were adopted. I suppose I can live without the twins, but they are so unrelentingly normal compared with Meg and Charles Wallace, they provided a nice comparison/counterpoint. 4. Storm Reid is too cute. Don't get me wrong, she's great, and does a great job, but no one in their right mind would believe she's plain. Even though the cue for "plain" or "ugly" girl is glasses. A tired trope that should be retired. 5. Why did they change the location? The Murrys live in wild, stormy, semi-rural New England, not urban, placid Southern California. 6. Giant! Oprah! Winfrey! I get that she didn't want to appear as the character appears in the book (pretty much a witch, to go along with her name of Mrs. Which), but good grief. I think she went a leeetle overboard. 7. Mrs, Whatsit changed to a centaur, not a flying lettuce leaf, and took the kids specifically to see the darkness spreading over the universe. 8. The IT looked like Ego's brain in Guardians of the Galaxy. 9. No Aunt Beast! No giving Meg the clue to saving Charles Wallace. Oh, and CW gave in to IT far too quickly, and also got away too easily. 10. Mrs. Murry was a Microbiologist! Not a Physicist (or whatever they made her for the movie). 11. Camazotz, in the end, was disappointing. No idea what the random beach scene was all about. There were things I liked, believe it or not. Storm Reid was amazing. I agree @JessePinkman, that the reunion scene with her and Chris Pine was wonderful. I would say that that was probably the best scene in the whole movie. I also appreciated that they didn't have Mrs. Murry cooking dinner over a Bunsen burner in the lab. That bit has bothered me about the book for decades. Even back in the day when safety standards weren't as high, we didn't eat or drink in the lab. I was okay with the characterizations of the Mrs. Ws. They did need updating from the book. I also liked the room the IT and CW had them trapped in, and how Meg figured out how to get to her father. Not enough was made of her skills with math (and lack of skills at pretty much everything else). Man, even when I'm trying to compliment the movie, it comes out negative! I didn't hate it, I promise! And I could recommend it to someone who's never read the book, but for a fan, it wasn't the best ever. Oh! I did like the Happy Medium! But I still missed Aunt Beast. Maybe after thinking about it a bit, I can come up with some other things I liked, but that's about it for now. Yep, definitely underwhelmed.
  18. I caught that! It's the only brand that exists in my reality.
  19. I thought the same thing about Queen! I got that TS along with horse and Kaa. By the way, Lane, Shere Khan was a tiger, not a snake. I've never heard "Shere" pronounced "sheeray" like Alex pronounced it, though. Two days in a row and I wasn't annoyed by any of the contestants -- a new record. Any of them winning would have been fine, and Megan made the smart bet of zero. FJ was another instaget for me, then I second-guessed myself with Hewlitt-Packard, but came back to Apple because it seems like HP is older than that.
  20. Yep. And if you take them to work with you, you can connect them to your computer with the convenient USB connector instead of having to search for another outlet! The ad actually showed a woman doing just that.
  21. I have no idea why, but this entire post--especially the screaming part!--has me cry-laughing! I just saw this commercial! Hilarious! Is Plexaderm a fancy name for Preparation H? (which can also be used to make under eye bags disappear)
  22. Or even regular house slippers -- you know, one for each foot.
  23. Toasty Tootsies, for which I just saw a commercial, are right up there with Snuggies for damn stupidest thing ever. You put both feet in one giant electric house slipper -- great! Keep your feet nice and warm! Until you have to stand up and walk somewhere.
  24. I thought the same thing -- tantrums have gotten Sheldon his way all his whole life, and they continue to do so.
