  1. They hardly showed her after the stretcher and medics went on the floor. Maybe that's a European thing, to be discreet about showing someone who's injured.
  2. Well, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks tearing down a perfectly good building and Dan building a new house is a stupid stupid STUPID idea! For $500 a month, I would move into that house in a heartbeat!
  3. I'm glad Barbara and her daughter made up. Taylor reminds me of my niece; she went to a top-tier university and now has a job marketing for a liquor company. When she started school, we were hoping for pre-med. However - and maybe this is something Barbara realizes now - it's a great job that is teaching her a lot about business and marketing, she gets to travel (while she's young), she's making great money, and she's meeting a lot of people. AND... it suits her. Honestly, although I was hoping we'd get a doctor in the family, we're just happy she has a great job she loves and is able to save money for the future. ☺️
  4. At least on CBS (Colbert) it's due to "March Madness", the annual college basketball tournament. I think Trevor is going to be off for several weeks.
  5. I thought the Gemma subplot was dumb and could have been eliminated. I'm glad Claire found out about her cheating husband, and I loved that she smashed the windshield! (I'm not ok with that generally but it's ok on a TV show. And the reactions of Calvin's staff were hilarious!)
  6. I know members of the Academy get 2 tickets. Gregory Walcott, whose main claim to fame was staring in "Plan 9 from Outer Space" but was a reliable studio actor during the 50s-60s, always took one of his children or grandchildren. ( I met him a couple times; he was a really sweet guy.)
  7. Kanye West will not be performing at the Grammys: https://variety.com/2022/music/news/kanye-west-grammys-concerning-online-behavior-1235209759/
  8. I do not like the new guy - he's a jerk. But when he popped up in the bed at the end of the episode, all of a sudden, he was cute. Acting!
  9. Seth was interviewed by NPR's "Fresh Air" - it aired today: https://www.npr.org/2022/03/14/1086029237/late-night-host-seth-meyers
  10. My dad had a stent in 2018, and at that point they were going through the arm. (But groin is funnier.) I wonder if they will address changes to diet and the new meds he will be on - for both gout and blood thinners. I hate it when a character has something major happen to them and the next week it's business as usual.
  11. I am grateful they ended the "Raj can't talk around women" bit. That was annoying.
  12. According to this article, Jane plays her as 85: https://www.distractify.com/p/how-old-is-jane-seymour-on-b-positive
  13. The show is awful; I watch because of the great cast. Where else will I see Jane Seymour play a 80 year old sex kitten?
  14. I watched for several hours last night. I saw a guy with one leg alpine skiing, and it was the one of the most amazing things I've ever seen! This morning on NPR they had a guy commenting on the ban. They said the Paralympic committee changed their stand to ban Russian and Belarus athletes because of pressure from both national Paralympic committees and athletes. They actually said they were worried about conflicts between athletes in the village! I also heard during the opening ceremony that the head of the Paralympic committee spoke against the Russian invasion (did not mention Russia by name), and the Chinese television stations censored that part of the speech. Ukraine ended the first day at the top of the medal count!
  15. Hair grows back; I'm surprised that as a hairdresser Vanessa was so closed minded about it. At her age, Hazel should be able to get the haircut she wants.
  16. I love it when Stephen gets into his LOTR geek mode. When Andy Sirkis did his "Gollum" voice - Stephen's face was pure nerd joy.
  17. For anyone watching "The Gilded Age" on HBO - the character of the Russell's French chef Monsieur Baudin is Douglas Sills, who played "Dennis Dutton" in 2 episodes - "The Butler Did It" and "Aftertaste". He has a mustache and wears one of those chef's caps so it was hard to recognize him; it's been bothering me for a couple weeks but all of a sudden it hit me! I always thought he was one of the best types of "The Closer" characters - charming yet evil.
  18. I never understood why she took up so much screen time on the finale of the show.
  19. NPR Morning Edition did an interview with Polina Edmunds this morning. Her opinion is that they need to clean up the scoring to have more value (ie, honesty) to the artistic marks. She says she was 15 and had the most technical program in 2014 and still placed ninth because they correctly graded artistry. it's about 5 minutes: https://www.npr.org/2022/02/19/1081948828/olympic-figure-skating-faces-a-series-of-controversies-what-is-its-future
  20. Regarding a minimum age limit: probably a good idea, but that won't really fix the main problem which IMO is the coaching and what the coaches are allowed to do. I wish they (the ISU) would monitor and control the coaches. Do they have to be certified? They need to limit practice time for minors, like they do with school sports (in the US anyway), and they need to be able to monitor their diets and other training methods such as weight training. If they can do surprise drug tests they can do surprise training inspections. Oh, well, the Russians would figure out a way to cheat anyway. I got nothing.
  21. It's a shame that we are trying to figure out rules to keep coaches and athletes from doing permanent harm to their bodies.
  22. There HAS to be a way to ensure the safety of these skaters. It is not right for them to sacrifice their long term health for a couple years of "glory". I don't know what the answer is; maybe limit the age at which they are legally allowed to train on the higher level jumps?
  23. The videos posted by Youtube user "Fran" (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_oCF_4x4dXpzQXOAe7mVEg) are very informative. If you have time, they are worth watching, in particular this playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLXK6X45AZESL5Gi2J6f_dJ0DV87VmW3N0
