  1. I wanted to love Raging Bitch because the name is great. The beer is...okay. I do love their Bloodline. I changed my mind about citrus flavored beers.

Greetings from Spring Training - where it is not snowing! It's not very warm, but it's not snowing, so that's something. Especially since we almost didn't get here - we sat on the plane for an hour and a half waiting to de-ice. I was nervous, but we got out!! And then, we went to a game. The less said about that game, the better. However, I will share a pic (maybe more if they're not too big) for you Yankee fans. Hey, the Os were in it until the end. I know - it's the end that counts... It seems I take ginormous pictures that are too big for this website. So until I figure out how to resize them, you will have to be content with this one. The stadium looks better than it did a few years ago when we were there, so that's good.
  3. I got that email and totally forgot to load it to the card - damn...
  4. Agree @UYI. I'm very interested. I especially love Rhiannon Giddens was an thrilled to see her on the list!
  5. Sammy Williams, Paul in the OBC of A Chorus Line, has died. ACL was the 3rd show I saw on my first trip to NY way back in the Stone Age - Chicago, The Wiz, then A Chorus Line. I bought a ticket on the street in front of the theatre (since you couldn't get one in advance to save your life in 1976...ish). I sat in the last row of the balcony for $8. It was a stunning evening. http://www.playbill.com/article/original-a-chorus-line-star-sammy-j-williams-dies-at-69
  6. Loved this show! I know The Californians isn't everyone's cup o' tea, but I've always enjoyed it, and tonight was no exception. Update was great because, let's face it, Stefon is perfect. And I love the John Mulaney played a role on camera. (Saw him at the Letterman Mark Twain awards and he was fabulous!). I loved the game show and was actually sorry we didn't see who won :-). Even like Arcade Fire, although the second number came on a little abruptly. The only sketch that didn't quite fall for me was the aliens at the lodge. Didn't hate it, but...eh. Does anyone know who the person Bill called up on stage during the goodnights was (wearing a cap)?
  7. It was They obviously couldn't pay Seth enough to show up...
  8. Stefon! In rare form...
  9. I had to wear them to a cousin's wedding last week and as I was putting them on, I was never so glad that I can wear jeans to work now. I don't know how I did it all those years ago. I was also really happy that I got a couple of great party dresses from Amazon for $30 each. I hardly have to dress up anymore, so I don't want to spend lots of money on dresses. These are cute, and if something happens to them (or I grow out of them, but that's a whole other issue), I won't be sad that I wasted cash.

Formerly University of Maryland-Baltimore Campus I had no idea they'd changed the name years ago until this week. I was confused for a while...

It makes me laugh that both of the local food items involve seafood, so I can't eat them anyway. I'm sure I could find enough to eat, though, for my $25 plus the beer addition. And I'm sure I could eat it all in 2 hours. I'm a pro...

FoodFest anyone?? I got this email and was so hoping it would be celebrated in every ballpark on that day. Alas, it's in NY, which is not a bad thing, it's just that I won't be there that weekend... https://www.mlb.com/cut4/mlb-foodfest-will-bring-all-of-the-majors-wildest-ballpark-concoctions-under-one-roof/c-268512004

I loooove Ken Singleton!! Always known here as "Ken Singleton - such a nice guy!!" Didn't get to listen to him call games, but I'll always have fond memories of his playing days here. And nice to know he still lives around here. Hope he's got fun stuff lined up for retirement!
  15. We got married after living together for 11 years because when he suggested my name go on the deed to the house, I said how about we get married. So we did. I took one day off of work at we went to the courthouse. I wore black. We had a joint dinner with my brother and his bride a couple of months after (they married after many years for the insurance - romance runs deep in our family!). I wanted the dinner to be at the local wing/beer place - they have dart boards and pool tables. My SIL wanted a nice place with grass, so ... it was fine. I did ask that no one bring gifts - we had everything we needed. And most importantly, I hate writing thank-you notes!! So I was really annoyed with the dozen or so folks who brought gifts. They are still upstairs ...somewhere. And I had to write thank-you notes. So really people, if the invitations asks for no gifts, please don't bring one. A fine time was had by all!
  16. I didn't not like this as much as the two of you. I thought she was fascinating and incredibly intelligent. She knows how to hit her points. And even though she looked a little uncomfortable with the game at the end, she rallied and was funny - beard or no beard was great! I appreciate that Dave loves Harry so much that he just worries about everything and I think she got that was quite adept at answering his questions. I thought the stage portion of the show was wonderful. I agree that this was #3 of the three shows, and I also agree that the part at Oxford was a little weird and didn't go over well. Everything isn't going to work though, and I'm just thrilled to have Dave on my TV. Just wish it was more than once a month.
  17. Just watched this and really enjoyed it. I love both George and Dave talking about their childhoods. Loved George's story about putting stones in his shoes and jumping off the top bunk. The Clooney family seems totally grounded and incredibly selfless. The young man they took into their family was charming. I hope everything works out for him. This seems like a great format for Dave.
  18. "You're more like a TED Talk set to music" I had to write that down because it's hilarious and I have no memory and don't want to forget it...
  19. I did not score Elton John tickets for September, but there's still plenty of time for more tickets to be released, or people to panic and sell their tickets for somewhat cheaper than they're trying to get now. However, I did score tickets to see Robert Plant in June - yay!! And...Mavis Staples at the Kennedy Center in May - I'm totally psyched about that!!!! Got me to thinking that a Plant-Staples show would be fabulous.
  20. I have no problems on bridges. The Sunshine Skyway from St Pete to Bradenton and Sarasota is lovely! Also built high enough so boats can pass. Can't wait to get there in a couple of weeks for Spring Training! Roller coasters, otoh... not a chance. We went to Kings Dominion on a work picnic one summer and my co-workers lied to me and told me this ride wasn't like a roller coaster at all. And, of course, Mr ebk did nothing to correct them. I was not happy. (I'd tell you which ride it was, but I've put all the ugly details out of my head!). I actually love the Staten Island Ferry. You can see the lovely skyline of NY, and the lovely Lady Liberty...and it's free! Why pay for an expensive harbor cruise!!
  21. Alec Baldwin is doing a Sunday night talk show on ABC. The pilot (which they didn't intend to air) is on right now. First guest is Jerry Seinfeld. Kate McKinnon will be coming up soon. Alec does good talk shows.
  22. Took my sister out for her birthday at an Afghan restaurant in Baltimore. We had appetizers that included pumpkin and lamb and beef, but I couldn't tell you the names of the dishes. For an entree I had the Shalgham Challow - sweet and spicy slow cooked lamb with fresh turnips in ginger sauce served over rice with a side dish of spinach. It was fabulous!
  23. Thanks for another fun evening! On to the Tonys!!
  24. Only if he's the luckiest guy in the world.
  25. Both of those sound like terrible choices. I hope you have wine!
