  1. @BookWoman56, while my dad was able to get in and out of our cars without too much trouble, a friend of mine who was caregiver for her mother for many years said she preferred a small SUV because of the height, as @emma675 said. Good luck to you. It's a mitzvah, what you're doing.

Bland is the word I use. As has been said, it's okay - there are much better parks, and a few worse. But, if you're going to see a game in every ballpark, you have to go.

Have I posted my annual STANLEY CAPS!!!! yet? No? Well, there you go. Soon to be followed by my annual "Choking Dogs" comment.
  4. I clicked on the Yahoo story about Fleetwood Mac firing Lindsey Buckingham. And I'm always sorry I open up the comments, but tonight, someone posted that perhaps he could now devote himself to his appearances on What Up With That. That made me laugh. And in that comment thread was a gif of Jason dancing in the track suit. Loved it.
  5. I've certainly heard of her, but I don't really know anything about her. But if she's trying to hide a pregnancy, she's not doing a really good job of it.
  6. Couch leggings. My life, right there. I need these. I agree with @Galileo908 - the last 40 minutes of the show were not really good. But I enjoyed most of it before then. But really, it's all about my couch. And my couch leggings.

Well that game was certainly worth staying up for!! Gary Thorne said Pedro was aiming for his house in the Bronx :-)
  8. We grew up with no dishwasher. My first 2 apartments had no dishwasher. Until I moved into this house with Mr ebk, I always did dishes by hand. I love the dishwasher! When my dad finally bought his first and only condo, it had a dishwasher, but he rarely cooked and never used it. However, someone told him he should run it every so often so the belts didn't dry out. So my dad, with OCD, had a piece of paper taped to the wall and every 2 weeks, he religiously ran the dishwasher, then made a note on the paper on the wall. He also had boxes of new shirts in the closet, and when he had to take out a new one to use, he crossed out the number left in the box that he'd written on the outside and noted the new number. I take after him in a lot of ways, but fortunately, not in that way. He died 14 years ago and I do still miss him.

I'm spared from having to watch the Os tonight because I'm at a concert. Thank goodness...
  11. So sorry for you loss @BookWoman56. I'm really in awe of your family's ability to organize in this time of stress. I'm a basket case just thinking about it. I do have the "If I get hit by a bus" file at work, but I really should do that here at home. Tomorrow.
  12. Ah... I feel better. I've never heard this song before. I saw the movie when it came out, but don't watch it regularly and the only recording I ever listen to is the original (with Murray Head). Everyone was saying how they loved this song and I was confused. Okay, I'm usually confused, but still.
  13. This was fun. I like hanging out here during these live events with you all. Thanks!
  14. This was always my issue with Rent - it's a fine show, but they used a tag line something like "nothing you've ever seen in theatre". And I always answered "only if you've never been to the theatre". They took themselves awfully seriously.
  15. I loved those musicals on PBS! I'm wondering if you've watched any of the other telecasts in the past few years, and if so, which ones you enjoyed. I'm sorry you're not into this one, but I understand.
  16. I understand this point of view. I sometimes wonder why there are all these revivals on Broadway, but when I think about it, I realize how lucky I am to have seen all these shows so I can complain that they're just doing them again. (And yes, I'm going to see My Fair Lady this summer because I love Lauren Ambrose). Most people don't get to see Broadway shows, so if they can on TV, that's great. Even if there are no new insights or production values for those of us who have seen them before.
  17. I don't know that there's been a reason behind any of the live musicals televised in the last few years, at least as far as new or updated production values. It's just something nice for the people who don't get to go to the theatre often. Maybe they'll do Godspell next year. It's even nice for the people who do get to go to the theatre often!
  18. At our theatre, they were happy that in Chicago, they didn't throw the glitter discs until the end so they didn't have to rush to get it all up.
