  1. Don't know if there's any significance, but it's making me very happy!
  2. Awww... we're being thanked. Although I must fess up - the only reason I saw one movie this year (Three Billboards) is because my best friend wanted to do...something...
  3. Whew...finally caught up with you all! How dare my sister have a birthday and make me take her to dinner!! I'll have to go back and watch the first hour because from what I read, there's some good stuff there. Since I got home - yay Rita!!! Love Allison Janney. Loved Sam Rockwell!! I have wine and am ready to move forward!
  4. This was us on Friday! Power went out just before I left for work (even though the Feds closed, which means our office closed, but I decided to go in anyway because it wasn't snowing and when the power went out, that sealed it because what would I do all day with no TV/internet...or coffee!!!). It came back on just before I got home, but the cable was out. Mr ebk chatted up Comcast and the soonest they could come out was Tuesday - just kill me now! Saturday afternoon, I'm on the couch reading the newspaper (fortunately, we still get an actual paper!), and the TV came on! Miraculous!!! Stayed on until 10 minutes after SNL ended. We'd cancelled the Tuesday appointment, so Mr ebk chatted up Comcast again and now they can come out Monday. It's all a scam... Cable came on overnight, but we're not cancelling the appointment until tomorrow morning. Can't be too sure. Because my life without TV and the computer is totally worthless! :-)
  5. I enjoyed this show more than I thought I would, although I agree - don't know why they keep having Sir Charles host. I loved the Waffle House line. I thought the open was strong until Kate showed up. I just don't think Mr. Magoo is her best impression. I did get a kick out of A-Rod inappropriately smiling throughout the sports sketch. I thought he was just having too much fun, but he was also weirdly smiling through the goodnights, so who knows. It might be a thing with him. Anyway, not as bad as I feared. And yay - the show is back!
  6. I saw BVD as Burr and he was stunning! He definitely has the chops for this. Also saw Norm Lewis as Porgy and he was spectacular. I now can't wait for this to happen

Got my plane tickets and hotel for Spring Training - yay!!!!!
  8. Funny you should ask, because he's the reason we went to see the show again. Not that we don't like Bernadette, but I love Victor. And he was wonderful. I think he's settled in just fine - blustery and gruff, but lovable. It's just that I was so overwhelmed by her, I forgot to mention him. Also, Gavin Creel's understudy was on and was totally charming. And the new Barnaby is pretty good too. All in all, a just-about-perfect evening!
  9. Just got home from Hello Dolly! I enjoyed Bette last summer and the show is lovely. Tonight was the best version of this show I've ever seen (and I've seen it a lot). Bernadette is amazing. She's warm and funny and can dance and boy, can she sing. I think I started crying at the end of Sunday Clothes and didn't stop for the rest of the show. It was beautiful.
  10. When I was 9, I wore my birthstone ring turned around and pretended it was my wedding ring and I was Mrs. Jones. Sigh...
  11. Wish I could help with tickets, but I work in the sports industry and that's how I got ours. Good luck!
  12. We went to Wimbledon in 2003 and stayed at the Rembrandt Hotel across the street from the Victoria and Albert Museum. It's near everything, including transit, and doesn't seem too expensive. I just checked and it seems to have a pretty good rating with Google reviewers. That's the last time we were in London, so that's the best I can offer right now. Good luck and have fun!!
  13. Two-show day at the Kennedy Center for me. Matinee of Chess, then West Side Story in Concert with the NSO. Hope the weather doesn't make the day too difficult. I saw Something Rotten last week. Thoroughly enjoyed it, but I wonder how people who don't get all the in-jokes enjoy it. There are a lot of in-jokes...
  14. I never came back to thank you for this recommendation. So...thanks!!! Love the stuff - it smells wonderful and works as well as anything else on my hair.
  15. I wish I'd enjoyed the show as much as @Galileo908. I found myself wondering if the same people who wrote last week's show that I thought was lots of fun also wrote this one. I liked Chastain. There were parts of almost every sketch that I did like, but more parts of them that I didn't. I'm not sure what went wrong, but tonight didn't quite come together for me. Didn't hate it, but didn't like it much.
  16. As much as I love Larry, I'm not sure I can watch Real Time... I'll read the forum and decide. Larry was featured on a short segment of last week's The Big Listen on NPR - a podcast about podcasts.
  17. Love Rachel's new sign off - "That's Weird" So perfect.
  18. Today is the 80th Anniversary of Benny Goodman's concert at Carnegie Hall https://www.npr.org/2018/01/16/578312844/how-benny-goodman-orchestrated-the-most-important-concert-in-jazz-history My favorite number
  19. I'm definitely a wine and beer gal, but recently, the folks in my office have turned Friday beer hour into Friday bourbon hour. I'm no connoisseur, but I certainly don't hate it. So, all because of @JTMacc99, I went out and bought a bottle of the Knob Creek smoked maple bourbon. And it's really helping me get through this ridiculous cold/flu-y thing I have at the moment. I'm sure it's helping more than any of the actual medicine I've taken. So, thanks @JTMacc99. I guess... since I really needed to expand my drinking horizons :-)
  20. I will have several more drinks before I click on that YT link. Thanks - I think...
  21. The theme song haunts me to this day, in that I can't actually remember the words past the first line, but I can't forget the damn thing either.
  22. Sorry @Mindthinkr and thanks @Spunkygal. Should have gone with another link, but the NYT came up first and I didn't think it through.
  23. Mr ebk's favorite tomato sauce. Really easy and really good! https://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1015178-marcella-hazans-tomato-sauce
  24. Finally watched this. I have nothing substantive to add, but I thoroughly enjoyed the show. Some sketches didn't work as well as others (ATM) and I wasn't particularly fond of Halsey, but I thought Sam Rockwell was charming and totally into it. I hope he comes back at some point, now that he's a big-time deal and all.
