  1. We got married after living together for 11 years because when he suggested my name go on the deed to the house, I said how about we get married. So we did. I took one day off of work at we went to the courthouse. I wore black. We had a joint dinner with my brother and his bride a couple of months after (they married after many years for the insurance - romance runs deep in our family!). I wanted the dinner to be at the local wing/beer place - they have dart boards and pool tables. My SIL wanted a nice place with grass, so ... it was fine. I did ask that no one bring gifts - we had everything we needed. And most importantly, I hate writing thank-you notes!! So I was really annoyed with the dozen or so folks who brought gifts. They are still upstairs ...somewhere. And I had to write thank-you notes. So really people, if the invitations asks for no gifts, please don't bring one. A fine time was had by all!
  2. I didn't not like this as much as the two of you. I thought she was fascinating and incredibly intelligent. She knows how to hit her points. And even though she looked a little uncomfortable with the game at the end, she rallied and was funny - beard or no beard was great! I appreciate that Dave loves Harry so much that he just worries about everything and I think she got that was quite adept at answering his questions. I thought the stage portion of the show was wonderful. I agree that this was #3 of the three shows, and I also agree that the part at Oxford was a little weird and didn't go over well. Everything isn't going to work though, and I'm just thrilled to have Dave on my TV. Just wish it was more than once a month.
  3. Just watched this and really enjoyed it. I love both George and Dave talking about their childhoods. Loved George's story about putting stones in his shoes and jumping off the top bunk. The Clooney family seems totally grounded and incredibly selfless. The young man they took into their family was charming. I hope everything works out for him. This seems like a great format for Dave.
  4. "You're more like a TED Talk set to music" I had to write that down because it's hilarious and I have no memory and don't want to forget it...
  5. I did not score Elton John tickets for September, but there's still plenty of time for more tickets to be released, or people to panic and sell their tickets for somewhat cheaper than they're trying to get now. However, I did score tickets to see Robert Plant in June - yay!! And...Mavis Staples at the Kennedy Center in May - I'm totally psyched about that!!!! Got me to thinking that a Plant-Staples show would be fabulous.
  6. I have no problems on bridges. The Sunshine Skyway from St Pete to Bradenton and Sarasota is lovely! Also built high enough so boats can pass. Can't wait to get there in a couple of weeks for Spring Training! Roller coasters, otoh... not a chance. We went to Kings Dominion on a work picnic one summer and my co-workers lied to me and told me this ride wasn't like a roller coaster at all. And, of course, Mr ebk did nothing to correct them. I was not happy. (I'd tell you which ride it was, but I've put all the ugly details out of my head!). I actually love the Staten Island Ferry. You can see the lovely skyline of NY, and the lovely Lady Liberty...and it's free! Why pay for an expensive harbor cruise!!
  7. Alec Baldwin is doing a Sunday night talk show on ABC. The pilot (which they didn't intend to air) is on right now. First guest is Jerry Seinfeld. Kate McKinnon will be coming up soon. Alec does good talk shows.
  8. Took my sister out for her birthday at an Afghan restaurant in Baltimore. We had appetizers that included pumpkin and lamb and beef, but I couldn't tell you the names of the dishes. For an entree I had the Shalgham Challow - sweet and spicy slow cooked lamb with fresh turnips in ginger sauce served over rice with a side dish of spinach. It was fabulous!
  9. Both of those sound like terrible choices. I hope you have wine!
  10. Really? You let an earthquake interrupt your Oscar watching?? :-) Hope everything is okay.
  11. Nice speech, but because I'm a nit-picker, it was George M Cohan that used that quote. James Cagney was just quoting him.
  12. He is not doing the music. So he'll have to win for his acting... sigh... maybe next time.
  13. She does. She just doesn't look like I remember Mira looking.
  14. This. I kept looking at the name ID and thinking that can't be Mira...
