  1. Okay, this Beetlejuice number will sell tickets. Ain't Too Proud and Tootsie - not so much. Which is kinda a shame. Kinda.
  2. Okay, I love Andre DeShields anyway, but his shout-out to Baltimore - my home town! - just made me love him more.
  3. Oh wait - I guess I did see something. I saw Boys in the Band. And I agree, Robin was fabulous. I also saw Beetlejuice, the second preview in DC. I hear it's improved. I'd hope so since it was nominated for stuff. Cuz it was pretty bad when I saw it. I still want to see this show. I know I shouldn't, but I do.
  4. I've seen nothing this year. We're going up in August and I was trying to decide whether to buy tickets this afternoon before shows win stuff tonight, but inertia claimed me. So I'm leaving it to fate... or something.
  5. So many great things in that article, not the least of which are he wants to host the Tonys and the embroidered uterus on the dress he's wearing tonight. Thanks for posting @ElectricBoogaloo!
  6. Thanks. I use a couple of those at work for currency symbols, but that doesn't seem to work on my home computer. I'll see if it works at work on Monday. If I remember, which is always dicey.
  7. Happy National Rose Day everyone!! (that's the wine, not the flower - I don't know how to find the useful accent to put over the e)
  8. Maida Heatter died yesterday. I highly recommend any of her cookbooks. I have 4 or 5 of them and really...dessert is a wonderful thing!
  9. 5 because I don't eat shellfish or pork.
  10. Maida Heatter has died at 102. (I had no idea she was still with us...). I have 4 or 5 of her dessert cookbooks and she helped me become popular with people! It's amazing how a tasty cookie or cheesecake or candy can help one make friends 🙂 RIP - and thanks!! https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/obituaries/maida-heatter-prolific-cookbook-author-who-was-dubbed-the-queen-of-cake-dies-at-102/2019/06/07/706c7320-88da-11e9-a870-b9c411dc4312_story.html?utm_term=.919326a0ab3e
  11. Barry Svrluga, a sportswriter for the WaPo, wrote a lovely piece in the magazine this past weekend about his grandfather who was on the ground for D-Day. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/magazine/wp/2019/05/30/feature/my-grandfathers-secret-d-day-journal/?utm_term=.30b56c8adb07
  12. Tri Fist, The Eviscerator of Hope. Strong. And kinda weird.
  13. The show went on. They didn't tell the cast until after it was over.

My first reactions was when did he leave the Os system...where he'd been for a long time...
  17. @GHScorpiosRule, good luck with the car, and have a wonderful time with your parents - when they finally get here! I've had good luck buying cars at Hersons Honda and had a great service experience at Sport Honda. I used Costco to buy my last car (6 years ago) at Honda of Bowie (it was kinda far, but that's where they sent me). So I know Costco is a great way to go. Mr ebk used Edmunds to get a price guarantee when he bought his Ford, so there are tons of ways to do it without haggling. Just know what you want and what you don't. I'm fortunate that I qualified for the low percentage Honda financing and paid off the car in 3 years. I'm hoping it's the last car I ever have to buy. (It's a 2013 Accord and it's fabulous!). New cars are amazing - enjoy it when you get it!!
  18. Per Equity rules (Actors Equity, the actors union), there are 3 ways to announce understudies: Lobby board, Playbill insert and loudspeaker announcement before the show. I believe they have to use 2 of them, usually the lobby board and Playbill insert. My first actual Broadway show was Chicago with the original cast. Sat in the front Mezz just off center. I think the tickets were $15.50. On that trip I also saw The Wiz and A Chorus Line. For ACL, I bought a ticket from a guy in front of the theater and sat in the last row of the balcony - for $8.00. It was a fabulous first trip to NYC.
  19. NPR rates the musical guests this season. From #1 to Greta Van Fleet - ha! https://www.npr.org/2019/05/20/724884348/snl-musical-guests-ranked-from-no-1-to-greta-van-fleet
  20. This really was a show where the host rose above the material. Ah well... hope they rest up and refresh over the summer. Thanks @Galileo908 for another fabulous season of recaps!! Wouldn't be the same without you.

It's pouring. The game allegedly starts at 1. It's going to rain all day. Have they called the game yet?? No, of course not. Like last Sunday when we left the house at 12:40, got there a bit after 1, they took our money for parking, we went inside, strolled around the concourse looking for beer, finally bought beer and 15 seconds later, they called the game. Sigh..... I'm not bitter. Really. I just don't want to leave the house. (and sorry for the run-on sentence)
  23. He's the one who was in How To Succeed on Broadway. That's the only reason I knew...
  24. Oh... that was Jon Hamm! I was wondering who the hell that guy who wandered in was.
  25. Me too! Even the second part...
