Here's a gift link if anyone wants to read it. It's good! https://www.nytimes.com/2025/04/21/opinion/larry-david-hitler-dinner.html?unlocked_article_code=1.Bk8.1o8m.3Szlfv7SWQCA&smid=url-share

But the weather was spectacular... that's something, right???

We are watching this right now - me for the second time! It's fabulous - thanks for posting about it to remind me to watch!!

That's what they were called when I was in banking a hundred years ago.

It amuses me that in one article, the character's name is spelled 3 different ways - Maddie/Matty/Mattie. And separately, folks in other places keep referring to Olympia as Olivia. And Julian as Julien. I checked the CBS website - it's Matty, Olympia and Julian. I feel better now 😄

Commercials That Annoy, Irritate or Outright Enrage

He can't even afford proper grammar... -
Yes, he did. I saw it pre-Broadway at the Kennedy Center years ago. The music is wonderful. The first act is wonderful. The second act is...okay. Chicago is the first show I saw on Broadway in 1976 (?), but that was the fully staged version. The current version played my theater for many, many months 20+ years ago. I wish I could remember how Cell Block Tango was staged, but alas, my memory fades. I do love the show a lot. Amex pre-sale is today. Holy shit, those tickets are reeeeally expensive! I'm so sorry (ha) that I can't go...

I found out tonight that Jim Palmer has never had a chicken wing and I don't know what to say.

It's the stupidest, funniest show I've seen in many years. I'd love to see it again!!

Interesting. I think that if it's a show on Broadway, it counts as a Broadway show. Because let's face it - almost everything on Broadway now started as something else. I honestly don't need to see another musical made from a movie that has no musical underpinnings, but that's just me. It's still a Broadway show. Hard pivot to another subject - I got an email today about presale tickets to Bill and Ted's Excellent Broadway Adventure (aka Waiting for Godot starring Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter). I really don't like Waiting for Godot, but since it will be closing January 4th which is weeks before my January trip, I'm off the hook! It's one of those "events" that I feel like I should see, but I really don't want to, and now I won't.

Sure! Why wouldn't they?

Loved Alex and Beck and Scarlett in The White Potus. I don't watch the show, but I enjoyed the sketch! I actually enjoyed the whole show. It was fun. Except for Sarah in WU - it's just the same harass Colin character wearing different clothes.

Should meat cost less than gum? Ha!!

This is one of the best descriptions of him I've ever heard. The actual interview starts at about 1:50 with "his mind doesn't work like yours and mine". The next segment is about his book on government workers. Really interesting.

Why Grammar Matters: A Place To Discuss Matters Of Grammar
ebk57 replied to candall's topic in Everything Else
My reading of that is if you have vaccines as a child, you will grow up to be an adult. If you don't, you won't make it out of childhood. I agree with "cause" instead of "causes".- 4.5k replies

Johnson is still with Paul Weiss. Emhoff is with Willkie Farr, which isn't any better since they bent the knee, too. As my dad used to say, the world is going bad. He was a great guy, but a little depressive.

Um.... https://www.npr.org/2023/08/18/1194593562/chess-transgender-fide-pushback And, I respectfully disagree with you. This is not about sports at all. It's about hate and they've found a way in. There are many people who are vehemently against trans people in sports who know nothing about sports. They just know what the hate mongers have told them.

OMG, I could be your mother! I'm not sure how to feel about that... 😄 My family was totally liberal. My dad's family had to leave Philadelphia because his dad was a union organizer and someone didn't like that. My dad was as auditor at GAO, so he would be furious at what's happening. My husband was a stagehand and an officer in the local union. All of us, including my siblings, practically socialists! And damn proud of it. I'm going to my 50th HS reunion in September. I'm curious as to how this will go. I obviously misjudged and totally underestimated Ken! This is a great post!!
