  1. LOVED when Stanley tossed Avis's martini onto his own face! The scenes with Zephyr Wright were lovely.
  2. Season 1 had 8 eps. This is Season 2, ep 7. So is there one more episode or is this the Season 2 finale?
  3. I'd bet that CBS *did* pursue Julia Child, who really DID elevate WGBH and public television.
  4. I'd forgotten how much I smile as I watch this delightful show!
  5. Not necessarily the best demeanor for a restaurant hostess though.
  6. Shandy bovinely chomping gum with her mouth open is a sign that she will either clean up her act or get fired, methinks.

I'm thinking now that in the finale, Sam confronts his father, and they end up killing each other. When Sam never returns, his mother sets Dr. Strauss free.
  8. Juneau Gal, I agree 100%. Julia Child was a remarkable woman who led a unique life. She also had a fascinating marriage to a true Renaissance man. You are correct: real life Julia would not have let Betty Friedan deign to pass judgement on her life and life's work. And I sure hope to see storylines and writing in subsequent seasons that will draw a more complete picture of JC, and to quote "Oh Yeah, from above: The real life Julia Child's life is enough.
  9. Indeed--most memorable line of this episode, and truly words to live by!
  10. Another wonderful episode, even though obviously we know The French Chef had many successful seasons. And they've set up all the principal players with potential stories for a 2nd season. It's hard to imagine "Julia" won't get renewed.
  11. This episode was simply delightful! I smiled throughout the entire time. We're getting to see different layers to the various characters. Bringing on James Beard made for a fun diversion. Is anyone else picking up some vibes between Russ and Judith?

What an absolute GEM of a show! I do hope it finds an audience. Well-cast, and well scripted. Julia and Paul really did have a remarkable life and relationship, which serve as the underpinning for what turned out to be the lynchpin show for WGBH and public television.
  13. I thought the previous seasons all dropped on the same day.
  14. They have not given us much detail about George & Bertha's past life. Hope we get a bit of background to help us understand their current behavior.
  15. Episode 2 does not air until Tuesday, Feb. 1
